Lady M is a special cake, with layers of thin crepes layered on top of each other to make a very rich flavor but light and delicious cake without the burst of sugar sweet flavor. They had many flavors to choose from, fruity to chocolatey behind the glass case. I thought the presentation of the cakes would be showcased better than a slices with cellphone wrap around it. I removed my wrapping to make it more yelp pretty than it was. DUBAI CHOCOLATE MILLE CREPE ($15) - layers of hand crafted crepes with chocolate and pistachio pastry creams and a knafeh-inspired topping of kataifi, pistachio, and tahini. This confirmed it for me, after many tries of different variations of Dubai chocolate creations from different places that's been trending - the flavor is OVERRATED. Don't get me wrong, I love anything "Mille crepe" and perhaps I should have picked the suggested flavor (limited time only, pandan). At the time there was only one slice left so I got it but at the same time they pulled out a full cake (premade) and was slicing it up. My cake was placed on a paper plate and the $15 spent looked like a $5 slice. OVERRATED. Get off the hype of Dubai chocolate. Pick a different flavor! I will next time. The chocolate mousse was nothing special - tasted average but was velvety. The Pistachio top with knafeh was a weird texture. Stiff top but breakable with the fork. The pistachio coating was pistachio cream but imagine it being a hard texture. Knefah tasted stale - it supposed to be the crunch but damped by the pistachio crème and being refrigerated made it stale tasting. The knefeh part by itself didn't taste great - reminds me of wheaties the cereal flavor but worst. The crepe layers underneath this weirdness were nicely layered on top of each other and consumable - that was the best part and could def do without all that overrated Dubai stuff. The espresso matcha latte is forever one of my favorite go-to from here. Their drinks are simply made to complement the cakes, and they do so very well. Service is always fantastic here, the staff are so patient and knowledgeable about the items they serve and they put care and effort into making their items consistent. Whoa these cakes are something special! We tried the signature, green tea and chocolate. I'm normally a big matcha girl so I thought the green tea would be my favorite but I actually loved the chocolate. I wasn't a huge fan of the signature but overall everything was very good. These cakes are definitely pricey but when you look at the cake itself, there are so many layers with frosting in between so they must be very labor intensive to make, hence the elevated price. Grossly overrated. Ordered three single crepe cake slices: matcha, tiramisu, and purple yam. I tried the purple yam first and the first thing I noticed was how dry the crepes were. It's actually impressive given they were smushed between layers and layers of cream. I don't know how long they're letting these sit in the case or freezer, or the crepes on the griddle, because this was a weird rigid contrast to the cream. Flavor was very delicate to put it politely, not worth the $12.50 at all. Tiramisu was better flavor-wise, pretty much the standard profile you'd expect. But again, dry crepes! The crepe texture is a huge part of the experience and really ruins the whole thing. Green tea was the best out of the three because the crepes were soft the way they should be. So with the cream, you get a pleasant, ever so slightly chewy texture. Would I get it again? Only if I knew for a fact the crepes weren't dry, and for a 2/3 bad hit rate, I will never step foot inside a Lady M's again. So much for my little treat. TLDR: crepes are like those terrible grocery store La Boulangere chocolate filled crepes... iykyk.. so dry. Dump a bunch of whipped cream on top and you have yourself Lady M's crepes. Update: this definitely gave me a stomachache. The first day I chalked it up to me eating a bit more than usual in general, but today it's confirming for me it's these crepes. We visited Lady M after grabbing some dinner ! It is located in the center by the waterfalls tucked in a corner next to Nespresso. My sister in law recommended it, and mentioned she had visited the NYC location. We were greeted right away ! All of the desserts and cakes look delicious!! We tried the chocolate one with vanilla ! There were several slices available and I asked my daughter which one she wanted to try. I did not see a menu of price slices, so I knew I was in for sticker shock. The only menu with prices available was one for drinks, which were reasonable for coffee prices. When I asked the lady about cake slice prices, she told me that they range from $10.50-$12.50. I almost gagged, but I wanted to try this crepe like cake. We chose the chocolate "Amedei Chocolate Mille Crepes" (cocoa crepes with pastry cream featuring Amedei chocolate from Italy) which of course is the most expensive at $12.50. I also ordered a latte for my husband for about $5.50. So with tip, I spent $20+. When my daughter and I tried the slice, it was very light and creamy. I actually don't care for crepes, but glad the layers were very thin and the crepes were seamless. We ate the slice over 2 days. We visited UTC after spending time in downtown LJ . My uncle wanted to buy me a slice of Lady M cake to show me LM was going to be better than the previous dessert I just had at Beard Papas. The store is pretty fancy. One girl was working that evening to help customers (we were the only ones there that evening actually). We picked two slices to take home (their signature flavor and the chocolate flavor). Each slice was $10.50 and kindly put into to separate boxes when we asked. My uncle also bought two boxes of crepe biscuit cookies to bring back to Asia as gifts. The cookies were about $25 each. Their bags are pretty nifty and fancy too. I'm still not familiar with places adding a tip line when it's not really a sit down restaurant/cafe/service but we still left her a tip for her help. The cake tasted ok but not sure it was worth the $10.50+ per slice. And I personally cannot fathom spending $100+ dollars on a whole cake here. Extraordinary Desserts I thought was pricy but their cakes are quite substantial and taste pretty freshly made.
