Absolutely GREAT experience! The staff is extremely kind and down to earth and the food is very good quality diner food. I've been to this restaurant for breakfast literally dozens of times recently while in flight school at the airport. Not just because it was conveniently located to the airplane, but because the people were just so nice and the food was good. Also... They cook my steak right EVERY single time (even most steakhouses usually can't get it right the first time- see pic here). I also found the prices to be a bit lower than most places for that kind of food. That was a major plus as well... And all the airplanes hanging from the ceiling is a cool, creative touch as well. You can also watch the planes takeoff and overlook the flight deck as you eat breakfast, as well as go outside on the roof onto the observation deck and watch the planes takeoff. You can't do that in most restaurants. Anytime I'm in town, I eat here and would highly recommend you give it a try as well! read more

We waited a bit to be seated but they sat us at a window - there wasn't as many open window areas as we expected, so we appreciated being seated at one. The food is pretty basic, but still good. Omg came to try this place out with my wife and mother-in-law. Let me say worth going to. We went out to the roof to see the planes take off after eating and when there was a great sight to see. I absolutely LOVED this place! Ive been looking forward to going for 2 months so I was really excited to go! Ronnie at the front was an absolute sweetheart! The food was extremely reasonably priced (I never see that anymore!) I ordered biscuits and gravy with eggs and bacon. The bacon was really good, the hash browns were so perfect! The biscuit was super yummy too! My Hubby got the Eggs Benedict and when it arrived, I knew by seeing the hollandaise sauce trying to separate-it was going to be really good! (I've made it myself and when it separates there's a LOT of butter in there!) I had a bite and holy yes! It was so good! I'm really impressed by how great the food was! The ambiance was great! Watching planes take off and land and checking out the views was amazing. They have a lot of model planes hanging off the ceiling and framed pics everywhere. We're DEFINITELY going again! Unique place to be able to enjoy breakfast and lunch. Located inside of a very small airport terminal in N LV. Parking is easy and you need to walk upstairs to find the entrance. The food was great and is prepared in a classic way. Views of planes coming and going is really fun to witness. My lady had some issues with her breakfast but my pork dish was great and everything was prepared per my request. Hopefully we end up coming back so she can have a better experience. read more

There's plenty of parking here but not very much shade. Make sure you're going to building 2730 and follow the stairs up to the café. It's a seat yourself basis in the café is American based. We got a two amount, a grilled chicken sandwich, biscuits, and gravy, coffee, and soda. The food was very well seasoned, and it came out quickly. Although our server pointed out she was new. She did a good job hosting us in a friendly manner. Our toddler and us enjoyed ourselves, straight up American comfort food seasoned nicely which is hard to find. Kudos to the team! read more

What a great environment and ambiance for breakfast. Located on the second floor of the North Las Vegas Airport, this diamond in the rough restaurant had everything an airplane buff wants in his dining experience. The staff were openly welcoming and helpful throughout our breakfast. I had Hash & Eggs and the hash was homemade and tasty exactly how it should be. Even the potatoes were delicious. Excellent experience and also a private entrance to the big observation deck just outside the dining area. Definitely worth the time and effort for a good breakfast time. Decided to have breakfast here so I could watch planes at the North Las Vegas Airport and since I haven't eaten here in awhile. The breakfast crowd was just leaving as I arrived about 1030am so I got seated after a few mintues next to a window with a good view of parallel runways and tower. Staff here was friendly and attentive, and I like the menu selection and prices. I orded a half order of biscuits and gravy, three eggs over medium and sourdough toast. They have a good section of breakfast items to order on the side which I particularly like so I can get what I am in the mood for. The only thing I would say they could improve on in checking back after the order was delivered and refills on coffee. Otherwise, I had good experience this visit. read more

The original Sunshine Cafe was amazing. I moved out of town years ago and when I was visiting, I heard this was the same crew from the original, so I had to go, plus it was down the street from my stay. Hubby got the chicken fried steak breakfast and it wasn't a frozen gross thin patty. I got poached eggs, toast and O'Brien potatoes. Everything was cooked perfectly! The ladies were all very nice. There was a large table of older gents who seemed to frequent the place and it was nice to see staff calling some by name or knowing their order. The ladies came around with freshly baked chocolate chips cookies on the house too. This is an old school diner with a welcoming atmosphere and I will be back. read more

Special shoutout to "Jen", our favorite server, and "Steve", who is one of their marvelous chefs in the kitchen! The food is "Mid-Century American" diner fare, and there isn't a weak dish on the menu. I've tried many items, and all are authentic and traditionally home-cooked. Our visit to Sunshine Trailwinds Cafe was disappointing and uncomfortable. We were told to seat ourselves, but no clean 4-person tables were available, so we sat at a larger table. Although the restaurant was mostly empty, we were asked to move shortly after. We didn't mind and moved once a table was cleaned. However, after relocating, the overall treatment and atmosphere made us feel singled out and unwelcome. The service and interactions raised concerns for us about how we were being perceived and treated. We ultimately chose to leave because we were not welcomed and it showed. Everyone deserves to feel comfortable and respected when dining out, and unfortunately, that was not our experience. read more

We got there at a really busy moment. The staff warned us the food might take 40-60 minutes to be made. We agreed and took a table. The staff was busy but they were super nice and accommodating, even passing cookies as we waited. The food was a great value for the price. Large portions and pretty tasty. By the time we left, I did notice a bit of a wait forming, so coming early might be your best bet. The place gives off classic diner vibes--cozy and familiar. I ordered a Denver omelette, which was decent, and the pancakes were good, though nothing particularly memorable. (Apologies for the half-eaten food pics--I couldn't wait to dig in!) This was my second visit, and while the service was fine this time, it didn't quite match the attentiveness we experienced during our first trip. That said, they offer complimentary cookies or brownies, which is such a nice touch! I don't know of any other cafes that do this, and it's a small thing that makes a big impression. So I'm visiting a friend over here in Las Vegas, NV. He recommends that I go to a place at North Las Vegas Airport called Sunshine & Tailwinds Cafe. I say fine and we go. When I arrive, I notice the wonderfully decorated, clean cafe with airplanes and pictures all over the wall. The large windows overlook the airport, and you can see many of the planes landing and taking off. I want to note that it was quite busy in there with pilots and retirees. We were greeted immediately upon our arrival and were told to take a seat anywhere we wanted. We were served by several employees as they were all working as a team, including the owner of the cafe. Everyone was friendly and polite-seemed to genuinely care for the customer. Let's talk about the menu. Omelets, pancackes , pretty much anything you wanted, and my favorite (which I have not seen anywhere) chipped beef on toast!! So I ordered the vegetarian omelet and chipped beef on toast with white bread. What I got far exceeded my expectations. The omelete was picture perfect, like out of a magazine. Everything tasted home made and was absolutely delicious. I sampled the home fries-the best I've tasted. The last item is how value friendly the menu is. What a hidden thing. Jim thought I would try this restaurant and was shocked when I pulled up to the North Las Vegas airport because I thought I was completely lost and did not understand the restaurant was inside. Upon entering the airport, you must either take the stairs or the elevator upstairs to get to the restaurant, as I observed no signage. The service was incredible. Every time a staff member passed by our table, we were greeted and asked if there was anything that they could help us with, anything they could get us with, and even our food and beverages. The food was phenomenal. It's just basic, delicious, home-cooked food, yet they did it elegantly and gracefully. Unfortunately, the day we ate here, it was raining outside, so you could not see out of the beautiful open windows as much as it would've been on a bright, beautiful, sunny Las Vegas day. I am an airplane (airport) and subway nut, so when I get the chance to have a breakfast like this with a view, I can't pass it up. This is not my area but we were invited by the North Las Vegas Rotary Club to speak about the book we wrote so I was pretty much in the neighborhood. This restaurant had been bookmarked for a while so it was good to remove it from my collection. You enter by the columns to the left of the sign saying North Las Vegas Airport. There is an almost immediate right turn afterr you enter for either steps or an elevator to the second floor. I walked staright ahead and went up a different set of steps. It's seat yourself, so I went in an area where there were several two tops alongside the window. I raised the shade so I could watch the planes. Why come here if you're not going to do that? I was asked about coffee and immediately brought a cup. I ordered the Spanish omelette with pepper jack cheese, home fries, and rye toast. While waiting, I had the pleasure of watching several small planes taking off and landing. I flew from this airport many years ago in a touristy simulated dogfight and I was allowed to fly the plane part of the time. Breakfast came. It was enjoyable. My coffee was refilled and my view of the airstrip continued. I normally would give this restaurant a 3 star rating, but with the excellent service and great views oif the planes, I had to make it 4.
