What an embarrassment. Brought some friends here from out of town because this place WAS great 2 years ago and I wanted to come back. Let me throw this out in the ether for management - when you price an entree salad at 21$ for brunch, it should be more than a 8oz salad. Very disappointed with the portion sizes. Sure the P&L is going to look good for the table having to buy more food, but why should we have to spend 50$ a pop on food for lunch? Highly disappointed with their salad portions and throwing in random ingredients that were not listed on the menu. read more

Everything was soo good! Me and my girls came here for brunch last week and we loved everything we got! The food was delicious, service was amazing and fast and the ambiance is sooo cute! We sat on the patio because it was such a nice day but u love the open layout vibe they have here!! I got a fried chicken sandwich, my friends got the cinnamon roll, the big breakfast and salmon roll! Everything was so freesshhh! Came in to celebrate a birthday on a Friday night and it wasn't busy and got right in. I like how it's an indoor/outdoor restaurant with the big doors that are open that allows fresh air. Started off with the popular bread appetizer. The bread itself with perfect and the butter on top was **chefs kiss. We got the pimento cheese on the side in which wasn't that great, in my opinion. Out of all of the entrees we got, we believe the rigatoni was the best, the pasta tasted really fresh and the portion size was great. I LOVE this location!!! It's my favorite one! I love the open-air concept of this area, and how spacious it is. The Pasadena one feels much more claustrophobic after you visit the Venice location. I came here because I was dying for a Mushroom Cappuccino on my birthday. I ordered 2 because I loved it so much. The lady who took my order was so nice, and even gave me a birthday cookie. I love the indoor-outdoor vibes here, and would love to come back for a meal. Parking is very limited in the front, but there seems to be residential street parking around too! read more

I had a reservation and 5 minutes after we received our check we were asked to leave or move to another table because the party sitting next to us was expanding. We were at the restaurant for literally only 1 hour. As a result, I had to cut my lunch with a friend that I had not seen in a long time short. It was incredibly rude. I will not return. read more

Getting Very pricey for the value! We've been here many times and mostly enjoyed the food but last few times we noticed the quantity and quality of the meat decreasing drastically and the prices increasing. It's near our house so we took our grandson, visiting from Vermont, there for lunch on Friday. His tuna melt was okay but pretty bland. Our turkey sandwiches, were very disappointing due to the 1 thin slice of very bland tasteless turkey. The homemade chips were definitely the best part of the meal. When the server asked, we mentioned the turkey and she brought us extra chips. We stopped by today for brunch. The ambiance was great, and the service was good. The all-day breakfast sandwich was wonderful, including special potatoes on the side that seemed like to be a mix of boiled and baked, different and tasty! We also got a cinnamon bun, which was over sweet and drowned in syrup! a bit much for our taste, though not unusual for the U.S. as sweets tend to be quite sweet. However, the lady manager was so kind, offering to replace the cinnamon bun with a morning bun after explaining they had recently made some recipe changes. The replacement was fresh, delicious, and just the right phase of sweetness for us. Her kindness turned what would have been a 4-star experience into a 5-star one. As for the coffee quality, it was acceptable but I had expected more inside the ACME cups. read more

Definitely some creative, delicious dishes that are perfect for whatever breakfast you're in the mood for. The chilaquiles was probably my favorite- super tasty and filling. The marbled eggs were also a nice dish- if you're not too hungry and want something light, this would be the perfect dish. I also heard great things about the breakfast sandwich. They were out of the cinnamon buns when we got there but we opted for the French toast which is great for sharing but it tasted more like bread pudding than typical French toast (but in a good way). It was chilly/rainy when we got there & certain sections are "outside" but covered - they had space heaters which really helped keep us warm. Very dangerous and disturbing experience where my toddler was almost stabbed in the bathroom by a kitchen employee's long butcher knife. We were in the women's bathroom waiting for several minutes for one of the two stalls to become available. After some time, a short and stout woman in a hair net and soiled white kitchen uniform came tumbling out of the handicap stall with an overflowing large bucket style purse. A large butcher knife sitting on top of her overpacked purse went flying in the air of the bathroom and landed a foot from my toddler. The employee picked it up from the bathroom floor, placed it back on top of her overflowing open purse and left. I spoke to the manager on duty who advised her name was Jet. Her demeanor seemed unconcerned. She said employees are issued knives to take home to and from the workplace. She curtly apologized for the inconvenience with minimal empathy for my toddler almost being stabbed with a knife a third of her height! Why are employees brining home a knife especially one that is unsheathed? How are the knives cleaned when brought back to work? This one was on the bathroom floor! The whole episode was disturbing. read more

The bread is pretty special! I'm considering going back to buy whole loaves for home, but will depend on the price. Food portions are quite regular, not large. It is definitely on the pricey side for brunch. What was really not worth it was the fresh squeezed juices. For the menu price of $9 we ordered expecting a large glass and instead were served small glasses. After tax + tip was included we paid ~$11.50 for a small glass of juice each. Then without informing us prior, an additional percentage (cannot remember exactly but I think it was 3.5%) was added to our bill as a service charge -- separate from tip which was still of course expected. I'm sorry but if an establishment is charging almost $12 per small glass of juice I'd expect that proper compensation to their staff is already worked into the prices! My other feedback would be regarding their to-go boxes... I would've expected a place like Superba close to the beach not to have single use plastic to-go boxes. Hope management reads this and makes the eco conscious decision to switch to paper or aluminum; the current boxes seem to be made from recycled plastic, but they're still adding to the plastic waste problem. Mine also was handed to me covered in dust, to the point that my napkin was grey after wiping off the box, so they should also find a less dusty place to store them. It is nice that they donate to non-profits and we got to vote for which one, but it wasn't clear how much they donate. read more

Our second time here was a quite enjoyable experience, however the service was very subpar. The wait for our table was longer than expected, we were told 20 minutes and ended up waiting almost 50. The service at the table was just ok. The food took a while to arrive and the servers didn't check up on us very frequently. Fortunately, the food here does not disappoint! This place is known for their freshly baked breads. We ordered the big boy breakfast, the breakfast burrito, the marbled eggs, and the hotcake. The hotcake is definitely the star of the show. A cute spot for delicious breads and eats -- stopped by with a large group (~16) for a late lunch and they were super accommodating despite not having a reservation. We were able to set up a table outside to fit all of us and they rearranged everything to fit us all, which was greatly appreciated. The parking lot is small, but they're next to a residential street with lots of parking if you're willing to walk ~5 min. The atmosphere is lovely and all of the staff were really sweet. The food here is delicious! We got bread samplers to share and... they do not disappoint! The breads and spreads were literally ALL incredible -- a special shoutout to a cheesy-chili oil dip and their house salted butter. I appreciated that they had a ton of vegetarian options and got the Hippie Burger, which was SO. GOOD. I loved that the plant-based option was made of plants rather than Beyond Meat and it was so flavorful. I would totally come back again! read more

I ordered the croissant french toast, eggs, and breakfast potatoes with a margarita. The french toast was really good! Great portion size, so I was barely able to finish it. 75 cents for a small thing of extra syrup which I thought was kind of silly. The crispy potatoes were different from what I'm used to ordering during brunch, but were pretty good. A bit of salt and pepper to taste and they weren't too bad. The margarita was also really good; I'd definitely order it again! The woman taking my order was polite and quick. Wouldn't mind stopping by next time I'm in town! read more

We were first sat outside by a puddle of dog pee, then moved inside with a bunch of old pasta on the ground next to the table. Waited about 20 minutes to even be greeted, and not one smile or hello from any of the staff. I understand it was a shift change, but they didn't even inform us or introduce the new server taking over. They were out of the first 3 menu items we tried to order. It's been a few years since I've been there, but before, the staff were super bubbly and friendly, and the food used to be way better. The matza ball soup was so bland, I had to ask for salt. I waited tables for 14 years, including fine dining, so when I'm paying a lot of money to eat out, I expect great service and for the staff to be friendly and inviting. I feel like this might be just a little bit over-sold. I had heard so much I was expecting - well I was expecting more. We found street parking without a problem and had made a reservation so were seated in their cute, new outdoor area (former parking lot). I had scoped out the menu in advance so had some idea what I wanted. I NEEDED coffee. And I take my coffee with a lot of cream. So I was disappointed when I was given a cup of coffee (in a gorgeous cup) that was lukewarm even before adding all the cream I like. When it was time for a refill, I asked if maybe the coffee could be hot and I needed more cream (they give you a tiny little jar). This time the coffee was a bit hotter but it was completely overflowing in my cup so there was no possible way I could add any cream. So in order to drink it, I had to dump coffee onto the gravel driveway/floor. This is a place that presumably serves a LOT of coffee, so not knowing how to properly do coffee service seemed strange. I ordered the Cheesy Egg Toast ($13.50). I was actually expecting a fried egg... something like an "egg on toast/toad in the hole" thing. Instead, it's a pile of scrambled eggs. I didn't detect much cheese. And parts of the toast were so overtoasted that I couldn't cut it - forget about chewing it. My SO ordered the Croissant French Toast ($14.50). But it wasn't made with croissants. It was made with something like Texas toast. And the golden syrup on top of the candied pecans and creme fraiche was just too sweet. I wasn't feeling very happy about things until I went inside. And there I saw it... a HUGE mural of the cover of Fleetwood Mac's Rumors album. Literally took my breath away. The interior is nicely designed and a huge upgrade from the parking lot area! So really, the food and the cold coffee is only two stars. But the FLEETWOOD MAC... that elevates things to three stars. My experience at Superba Venice was anything but superb. First of all, Superba Hollywood is one of my favorite restaurants in LA, and I have never had a bad experience there. However, the Venice location was full of apathetic, lazy, inhospitable employees. In addition to that, the ambiance is not nearly as nice as the Hollywood location. I made a reservation for an "outdoor" table and specifically noted that I needed space for my stroller for my 3 month old baby. Not only did they not reserve space for me per the reservation, they did nothing to accommodate me. It takes a lot as a new mom to get ready, haul a baby, park, etc. just to arrive at your chosen destination and be treated poorly. I wish I had gone to another restaurant in LA. I ended up having to order food at the "to go" window and pay the same price to sit outside and repeatedly have to haul my sleeping baby inside to get my food, beverage, beverage refill, etc. I had to ask the staff to have someone come outside to open an umbrella 3 times. Nobody came. I then flagged down a busser who seemed annoyed that I needed help with the umbrella. Overall, a very terrible and unwelcome experience. Do not go to the Venice location. Like I said, Hollywood has always been amazing. Sad to see a restaurant not care about welcoming mothers with children to their establishment. read more

Service was lovely. Partner enjoyed his fried chicken sandwich and I liked the kick of the fries which accompanied the sandwich. The Brussels sprouts were flavorful and crispy. My main disappointment was the avocado toast, which was... not toasted at all. The bread is nice and dense, but since it was not toasted and under seasoned, I found the dish chewy/ hard on the teeth. Had I known it would not be toasted, I would've ordered something else, not a sliced avocado on untoasted bread. EDITED: Mike contacted me and said that the avocado toast was not made how it normally should be, so that was an anomaly.
