Sea salt cold foam matcha and added vanilla syrup for extra sweetness. Definitely recommend for their seasonal drink!

Got the salted vanilla matcha and added vanilla syrup because I refuse to drink anything that doesn't taste like a treat. And wow... Sur Coffee understood the assignment. Sweet, creamy, salty, and dangerously easy to finish in five minutes. The shop is super calming inside too--like "maybe I'll finally organize my life" energy. Took my little matcha photoshoot and lived my best coastal-girl moment. Great spot, great drink, zero notes.

Incredible matcha!! I ordered the caramelized banana matcha latte. It was perfect! Not too sweet but also not too bitter. Inside the coffee shop is adorable. Very beachy vibe. They have plenty of indoor seating and a cute patio for outdoor seating. The baristas were friendly and made the drinks fast! I also ordered the blueberry scone and it was moist and delicious.

Located right next door to North Shore Poke Co, this coffee shop focuses on top-quality coffees and lattes along with a great collection of coffee-related items for at-home use, including a coffee maker and coffee filters from Japan. The matcha latte with almond milk was super tasty and the matcha was most likely really good stuff from Japan. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and we even discussed parking options in the area. The ambiance is very bright and inviting, as well as well-designed and clean. It's a great place to grab a drink after some world-class poke next door.

I walked into this place around 8am. They had some people already inside! The barista that took my order was very sweet! She gave me her favorite pour over recommendation which was amazing 5/5! The Guatemala pour over had great flavor! I prefer to get my pour over iced!!! The inside of the store was great nice and clean!

    1. The matcha latte was made nicely! 2. The spot has fun casual vibes, and it is close to the beach! 3. There is a small number of seatings available inside and outside! 4. The staff were friendly and timely with my order! 5. Beach Parking, Meter Parking, and Neighborhood Parking are available! Note: There is a restroom for customers! Photo: Matcha Latte

Only got black coffee on the go since I was in the area and needed quick caffeine. My reivew was only in the black coffee. Not sure what's going on but it tasted sour. I know she had to make a new batch and I waited before getting the coffee.

Popped in before the surfing competition today, expecting nothing and left with not one, but two drinks! Yum! The menu is simple, but with exactly what I love- lavender, so I ordered a matcha iced with lavender, but an iced coffee with lavender came out. I didn't mind, so I wasn't going to say anything, but the barista corrected herself immediately, and I got to sip and try both drinks. The baristas were all friendly and warm. The store itself is small and cozy, but the ambiance is great! Definitely will stop by again if I'm ever in the area. 4 stars for the initial drink mistake, no public restroom, and the matcha being pre-made.

    Talented baristas!

The vibe is cozy and welcoming, with a steady buzz of customers that shows just how popular this spot is. My fiancé got the iced sweet cream latte and absolutely loved it! smooth, perfectly balanced sweetness, and the espresso was top-notch. I went with the iced Americano topped with banana cold foam, and wow, it was a game changer! The banana foam was creamy, flavorful, and not overly sweet, pairing beautifully with the bold espresso. Both drinks were prepared and refreshed us instantly. The only minor downside is parking, which can be a bit tricky, but the location is clearly thriving with tons of foot traffic and business out front, so it's totally understandable. Once you're inside, the excellent drinks and friendly service more than make up for it. The atmosphere is modern and sleek. I ordered the earl grey matcha, one of their spring specials. My sister got the sweet corn latte. Understandably, due to the crowd, there was a bit of a wait. When they finally called my name, I only received the earl grey matcha. I figured they were still working on the sweet corn latte and decided to try my drink first. To be honest, it was nasty. I did not like this drink. I think it's the earl grey syrup. It tasted very artificial and had an unpleasant aftertaste. 20 minutes passed with no sign of the sweet corn latte. Eventually, I went to check in with the staff about our missing drink, and they just made it on the spot. I was especially irritated because the staff was making small talk with customers that seemed to be their friends. I don't think that sort of lollygagging is appropriate when there are customers such as myself who were missing drinks from their orders. Perhaps if the staff stayed focus on their jobs during their shifts instead of chit chatting with customers, they would not be forgetting drinks from orders. The sweet corn latte was ok. I did like how there were specks of ground corn in the drink, which made it seem like they used real corn instead of artificial flavoring. I would maybe give Brew Story another shot as people seem to stand by it, but my first experience was not very good at all.

On today's visit I just got some caffeine free drinks for my kids - Grapefruit Ade and Yuja Frost. Grapefruit Ade was very refreshing. YuJa Frost is a blended drink made with Korean yuja, ginger, and honey. I would personally prefer to have this drink non-blended but the flavor was still very good. One thing that hasn't changed about this place is its great customer service. Everyone has been friendly on all my visits, and this place is kid friendly, which is a big plus for me. It still offers free snacks to kids. There's even a box with big chalks by the entrance for kids to draw and write on the ground. Current menu looks even better than when I was last here so will probably stop by more frequently. I also love the garage vibe.

They have an expansive list of coffee, tea, and lattes with several modifiers to choose from. To accompany your drink the menu provides options of sandwiches, bagels, and a variety of pastries. I had the smoked salmon bagel, featuring delicate slices of salmon layered over cream cheese spread, topped with capers and fresh chives. This is my go to for coffee houses that offer it. The bagel exceeded my expectations and I believe the chive's subtle flavor complemented the smoked salmon really well. For drinks we tried the chai and hot chocolate. The iced chai latte was smooth and not too sweet with a dusting of cinnamon on top, but I would rate it average in taste. The hot chocolate was deliciously velvety and detailed beautifully. I would rate it a five out of five! The difference at this coffee shop is that you can choose from a range of seating arrangements and have an opportunity to support the business by picking up clothing, a bag of coffee or other merchandise. The con for this coffee shop is that the beverages are somewhat undersized relative to the price point. In addition, the customer service experience fell short. We were greeted upon entering, but it was unclear where customers should retrieve their order or whether orders numbers were called out. With that said, those looking for a quiet morning coffee or a cozy place to catch up with friends, this spot can accommodate.

It does get pretty crowded so it's better to get an early head start if you can, especially on the weekends. In terms of their drinks, my favorite is the blueberry lavender matcha latte. The location has plenty of parking and plenty of seating. There is an outdoor patio, and inside there is a first floor seating area, and a second floor seating area. The interior had high ceilings and modern practical decor. Staff will take your order at the cashier, but they also have a kiosk if you want to avoid human interaction. I was here for a few hours, so I started off with a hot beverage since I saw that they have mug service. I had the hot Churro Latte ($8.15/large) and I was warned it's a bit sweet so staff suggested that I get it less sweet. I appreciated the gesture but maybe that's why I didn't taste too much of the churro flavor. It tasted like a good regular latte but maybe they held back on the caramel and cinnamon to the point I couldn't detect it. Seating is first come first serve. It was actually really busy and difficult to find an ideal spot. Since I was alone I sat at a high top ledge, strategically near an outlet. From what I saw, they had a really good amount of outlets in the indoor seating area. Later on I went back and ordered an iced Blueberry Lavender Matcha with Cold Foam ($9.25/large) and a Deluxe Avocado Toast ($15) which comes with egg, bacon, and herb oil. I like that this location serves the avocado toast with a knife and fork cause it was much needed. It was a bit on the wet side. Maybe I should ask for light herb oil next time. For how much this avocado toast cost, I would have liked more avocado. The avocado was more of a spread, not whole slices of avocado. Still good, just an observation. The blueberry lavender matcha was okay. I could taste the lavender but it was overpowering the matcha and the blueberry was hard to detect at all. Honestly the location and plentiful seatings is what stood out most from this experience. I would consider coming back since I know their products are good from trying their other locations but I wouldn't get the drinks I ordered this time. For how expensive coming here was, I wish I was a little more satisfied.

Easily 10 out of 5 stars…read more I've been coming here since they first opened about three years ago and can honestly say this is hands down the best coffee in SoCal. Genuinely surprised I haven't left a review sooner. It's a small, quaint shop with a clean and mellow interior, relaxing jazz playing in the background, and aroma of freshly brewed coffee that always transports me back to Japan. Daisuke and his team greet everyone with such genuine warmth that you immediately feel welcomed. Their hospitality is unmatched, but what keeps me coming back is the consistency. Every drink is made with care, and they're always happy to take the time to explain the differences between their beans, recommend something based on your preferences, and answer any questions without ever making you feel rushed. You can tell they truly care about both their craft and their customers. I usually order the café au lait, and it's the only coffee shop where I'm confident in asking them to make it however they like. Every now and then I'll also pick up a bag of their beans to brew at home, and I highly recommend doing the same. They carefully help you choose from their wide variety, then grind the beans for you or sell them whole if you have your own grinder. Grinding fresh beans takes about 15-20 minutes, so if you're driving from farther away, I'd recommend calling ahead or placing an order through their website for pickup. The quality of the coffee speaks for itself, but what really sets this place apart is the experience. It's rare to find a coffee shop where both the product and the people are this consistently exceptional. Where most coffee shops tend to rush you out I think the difference here is that you genuinely feel welcomed. Wishing Daisuke and the entire team nothing but continued success. They deserve every bit of it. If you're looking for incredible coffee, authentic Japanese hospitality, and a place that genuinely cares about what they serve, do yourself a favor and stop by. You won't regret it.
