This one is for those of you that are on a BUDGET that still want to experience Korean BBQ!!! You can pay $9.99 for AYCE Brisket/Pork Belly. This is my favorite low budget AYCE place. It is better than Mr. Lee's BBQ in Cerritos which has a huge fan base. They offer a hole in the wall experience, its less crowded, less teeny boppers, and the food tastes BETTER. In terms of quality this place is average. I would recommend this place to someone on a budget or a beginner that is trying to get into eating Korean BBQ. Its low risk and it does not hurt the pocket book. If you like it, you can upgrade to a better quality place. If you can't bring a Korean with you, be patient with communicating what you want. Definitely an underrated Korean BBQ restaurant. Meat quality and service were good. Definitely under-staffed, so be patient and stop being an ass. There's usually one or two people working here, but when we were here, one ajumma was holding the fort down. The ajumma was really sweet and brought more soju bottles when we were running low and constantly refilled our waters and brought more napkins for the table. We weren't in a hurry, so we told her to take her time, since more customers were pouring into the restaurant. One thing, though --- the naengmyun was just meh. here's some advice: instead of getting an ayce option, order their combos. you'll get better meat quality and you'll go home happy and full, instead of gross and full. read more

Ok I can't put this off any longer. After reading all of the horrible reviews, I HAVE to help everyone out here and give you all that I know after coming here for at least 2 years. You have to know that this place is just amazing from the little lady who owns it with her handicapped daughter to the complimentary veggies which are apparently organic and grown in the owner's garden. First of all, this is legit Korean barbecue. The place will be understaffed and they might try to bilk you on the meat. Here's what you do: yell at em. It's expected for you to flag them down repeatedly for anything you need. In Korea, it's sort of part of the fun to eat BBQ, drink soju and yell at the waitress. (that's not an excuse to be mean though) Secondly, either order one of the combos, which come with a bean paste soup that is actually really good and that's coming from someone who thinks bean paste smells like fart, or order the all you can eat. Either way, make sure to dip your meat and wrap it in a combination of those veggies that come in the basket. Also, be sure to cook at least half of the onions and mushrooms in a big pile at the same time as the meat, then stack the cooked meat on top of the pile to keep warm. Well... where do i begin? I came here not by choice. My dinner "1/2 blind "date gave me 3 options: Korean, Thai or Indian. I picked Korean. So he picked the venue. When i asked what's the name of the place, he said " not sure, but it's next to sushi gallery on 166th and norwalk in cerritos. So i yelp it and Surawon came up. I'm like.. hmmm this white guy want to take me to a 2.5 stars place.. ok.. well i gotta give him a chance. So i came here at 7 and I saw him for the first time.. and OMG he's short.. ok CHECK. Next, we walked in and got the table, we ordered the $26.99 combo, brisket and pork belly, steam egg, tofu stew. The food came.. he was nice enough to cook it for me.. or " man-ing the grill. Ok this is a first.. usually i'm the one to cook and serve and tell them what they are. Score thus far 1-1. While we were cooking, we had didn't get rice paper.. so i asked them for some.. the lady looked at me funny.. and keep saying :" rice paper?" i said: yes rice paper? I thought to myself :" GOd damn it.. do i need to bust up my korean from my Kdrama? but... they never show kbbq there.. LOL.. they always show doshirak or dookbogi.. lol. I'm assuming rice paper it's dook something. anyways so they came out with rice paper, then we have to ask for rice,then we have to ask for extra plate.. and the lady was questioning why i need another plate. Just give me the stupid plate, will you? i just want to put your thinly slice brisket aside so it doesn't get burned or overcooked or charred. Geez!! Then we have to ask for water, then they came with steamed egg... and towards the end of the meal all of a sudden the tofu bean stew came out. But i'm already full. the sauce they give you are only : bean paste, salt and chilli sauce. not soy sauce or dipping sauce.. so i was disappointed. I came here yesterday because Red Palace's line was too long, and my dad decided we should try a new place for KBBQ. We came in and it did seem a bit old and run down but that doesn't matter much. Grill is a different style than most KBBQs which is interesting, not good or bad necessarily. The beef brisket we ordered was frozen. It was frozen like it was meant for shabu shabu, which made it a bit difficult to cook the meat. The kimchi was oddly sour and discolored. I'm pretty sure it was old. The bathroom was pretty gross. One thing that I liked was the service. A guy waited my table and although we could tell he's had a long day, his service was great. As a server I know how hard it is to keep that persona up at work, and he did a great job, also considering the fact that it was only him and one other lady on the floor. read more

Bang for your buck. No need to go down the street over to Red Palace. The service here is very respectful and you can see they are working hard. The grill cooks the meat evenly and isn't a mess. Their prices are misleading. I went in at lunchtime on my own. The hostess pointed to the $9.99 AYCE menu item and said that it would be $14.99. I said that I didn't understand, and she thought I meant that I didn't understand because of her accent, so she brought over a different waitress. The new waitress pointed to the $9.99 offer and said that it would be $11.00. I asked why it would be more expensive than what was shown on the menu and she explained that was the price for two or more people. I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this spot yet and even more to see the bad ones. This one is probably my go to stop now for korean bbq. It used to be ayce but not anymore. I'm not sure though this does change time to time. The side dishes are pretty good. Atmosphere is like most korean restaurants, you go to eat and watch tv. The only thing that gets me down about this place is that it used to be yu chun, the only spot that served chic naengmyun and it was awesome, but now? It's no where near close to what it used to be, I would never come in and order naengmyun here ever again. I would however be back for the korean bbq, since its one of the better ones. The lady who owns the spot is nice and remembers me when I go since I've been going for so many years. It's a typical korean restaurant. They prefer older crowds versus young ones. Every time I came here I've had a good experience. I'm sad that there are so many negative reviews for this place because the meat quality and food options are actually pretty good. Most of the negative reviews on here are about bad service, but I feel like I'm not too affected by it because in my mind, that's just how older generation Korean waitresses roll. The main reason why I like this place besides the decent meat quality for the AYCE price is the vegetables that they provide. If you ask for it, they give you uncut lettuce, perilla leaves, and a green onion mix thing that I'm sure a lot of health freaks would love. This place is more traditional than modern kbbq places, and the people are more older gen Korean too. So try it out without expecting to get served like the average middle to high SES folks would. ----update---- they changed their menu recently, so no more free veggies unless you pay a little extra. kinda sad about that.. read more

2.5 stars. It wasn't bad, and you get plenty of food for $9.99. You can choose from beef brisket, beef belly, pork belly, marinated pork belly, and sweet and spicy marinated chicken. Our favorite was the marinated pork belly - it wasn't too fatty like it usually is at other places. I personally thought the chicken was really good, but my parents thought the marinade was too sweet. Just be careful to check if it's cooked all the way through since the marinade is a reddish color, so it's hard to tell if there's still blood. The brisket was pretty good the first round, but the next one was more frozen so it took longer to cook and therefore got tougher/drier. Ban chan was limited, and the sliced radish wasn't crunchy. What really took away from our experience was the service. There was literally one guy working the whole restaurant - luckily for him, there was only us (table of 4), another table of 3, and a table of 4-6 older ladies. But even then, we had to ask for things several times, and we ended up just giving up because we didn't want to bother him more! We felt bad for him, honestly. But, at the very end of our meal, we waited so long for our meat to come out that we had to turn off the fire 'cause our grill was getting so burnt. He ended up changing it for us, though, so it's not like the service is bad. It's just slow and inefficient. FYI's: - you have to ask (or at least, we did) for the radish paper and rice paper - be careful of the build-up of oil and grease beneath the grill; ours kept popping and the flames got a little much so we flagged them down to dump out the excess oil - they didn't turn on the fan above us, and I don't know why - but we didn't ask about it 'cause they were just so backed up and we didn't want to cause more trouble read more

Why are people hating on this place? This is Cerritos' best $10 kbbq spot. For the price, the service and the quality of the meat is unbeatable anywhere near the OC. The meat isn't greasy and you get more than other spots with FRESH, ORGANIC, LOCAL veggies along with ssam mu (raddish), and dduk (rice paper). Veggies are the OG way to eat kbbq; the raddish and dduk thing was invented not long ago in Cali. It's now $9.99 for lunch, and $11.99 for dinner. I say go with the combos because those are some steals. Combo 1 comes with plenty of meat for 2 people, steamed eggs, a basket of onions & shrooms, bean paste stew, and nooroongi (rice in hot water?) for, including tax, $27 and some change. But I'm the type who likes the variety more than meat, so if you're all for the meat, I'll encourage the ayce deals, after all it's way better than the shit meat you're gonna get at Mr. Lee's or the painful service at Ma Dang Sae. read more

Let's start by mentioning that this review will not be written by an ayce kbbq rookie. I've been to numerous places from Garden Grove to LA and everything in between several times each so I feel qualify to give a thorough review of this place. It definitely made it on my top 5, actually the more I think about it might be my first or second favorite. I've ranked the places I've been to from highest to lowest. Surawon (the best... see below) LA Palma (amazing, cheap, best meat, service, salad and sides, all around) Red Palace (cheap, many choices, but always loud and pack. Brisket isn't the best in my opinion) Stars (expensive but highest quality, nice looking) Hwangs (great meat, cool table, but pricey) Jays BBQ (amazing service overall everythin average) LA Family House (closed, super late hours, tasty) Furosato (overall average, standard 9.99, great as back up) Lee's BBQ (loud and pack at times, but tasty and cheap) Ma Dang Sae(horrible service standard price and meat, side dish sucks) Every where else (average) As you can see most places are average and has their own pros and cons. This place is one of the few with pretty much no cons and extra pros. First it's usually empty because it's somewhat hidden, away from most restaurants, and yelp use to say closed all of the time. Perfect for quiet time, no wait, better service. But when you catch them at a busy time, the are currently understaffed but you will get service. Every worker is very nice, hard working, and not ignoring anyone. Kbbq is one of those experience that requires many attention from waiters...more salad, more beef, more rice paper, more water, more sauce, I played with fire and now need it relit, more side dishes, more soju, more meat again, more sauce, more rice, I dropped my chopsticks, more napkins, etc. Second pricing is great. They just started doing all you can eat again this month. Pricing is 9.99, 13.99, 19.99 all includes great items worth every penny. Quality is high basic includes delicious beef brisket, beef belly, pork belly, marinated pork belly and chicken, spicy sweet chicken, marinated pork. Sides are plenty, unique, fresh, and tasty. Combo b includes all of the above and intestines, fresh vegetables, big spicy peeled shrimp marinated, marinated squid, steam tofu and more! Yum! After 8:30 is 2.99 soju or regular 4.99 now that's cheap! Food is seriously good. All the marinated dishes is mixed with a variety of onion, pepper, and other vegetable for fun flavorful grilling. They change grill when necessary. Soda is cheap and water is good too. This place is definitely underrated and definitely deserve 1 chance. It will win you over. Opens late like midnight, and not strict if you come late like other places, and they did stay after hours just for our one group. Very nice lady who owns the place. I have been to many Korean BBQ restaurants and I was very disappointed with this one. First off we must of opened the joint up because there was nobody else there at 11:30am on a Sunday morning. We had a party of 10 including 3 children in the group. The service here is horrible...I was very disappointed becuase we were the only ones there and it was hard to get a glass of water. Yes its only $9.99 for one meat, so I wasnt expecting much. When I asked for a onion she said "thats extra" really? For an onion? We also ordered chicken and the chicken came with onion...lol. I will say this, the chicken is really really good!! As for the Briskett, its not bad it tastes good, its just I've had better. If your on a budget and dont really care then eat here. I use to come here all the time but I found a better one down the street for the same price. I wanted to give it a try again so we went for dinner and it was the worse decision I made. First thing is that the waitress took forever to take out order and didn't really come around to see if we needed anything (which we did). Second the food was not good at all especially the sides. Lastly they have free ice cream but they hide the cones or they say they're out of cones! When we clearly seen people getting ice cream before exiting. I ordered beef brisket, pork belly, and marinated pork belly. The pork belly was pretty much the same thing as brisket - same thin slice meat, but with a little more fat - and it tasted almost the same. The marinated pork was practically not marinated. I think I might've seen the tiniest bit of sauce on the pork, but it definitely did not taste like any flavored marinade. The 9.99 did not include any pancake, tofu soup, steamed egg, or any other dishes besides the five meat choices. Although the food was disappointing, i can't complain about the price. It wasn't crowded for a Saturday night, which is a plus. Service was good as well. I want to clear any bad reviews from this restaurant. I love the late hours, I got there around 10pm and it was empty. The ajumas were really nice. I greeted them in Korean and they seem to like it when you try to speak their language. They kept coming to our table asking if we were ok, if we needed more meat or drinks. Very attentive. There was one ajuma that was a little serious but you have to understand the difference in culture. Koreans aren't accustomed to being friendly and smiling to non Koreans (at least not the American Koreans). Overall, I loved the service and the food. The price was really good! I usually spend around $55-$60 for two people but we were 3 adults and our bill was lower than $60 I will definitely go back! read more

Drove all the way here to try The KBBQ to only walk in and be greeted by the host, who said they were no longer accepting customers since the manager wasn't feeling well. I let the host know that we had just driven 20 minutes to try this place. The host answered with a "thats sad but they can't help us since they're closing early". In sincerity, a guest shouldn't have to have their opportunity to experience a restaurant jeopardized by a careless and irresponsible manager. The manager was nowhere to be seen anyway. If you want to ensure that you will have a guaranteed good experience, you cannot count on this place. I will never come back here and waste time to try them again, lest they will be closed since the manager broke a nail or something. read more
