Absolutely LOVED this food truck. First of all, the truck itself was so cute. I loved the hand-written signs, nicely decorated truck, and the tables/chairs to sit. The menu was very simple, which is always a plus. There were just enough options, and the sides looked so delicious (I regretted not ordering one to go!). We tried the "Rumbera" and "Reina" arepas - I preferred the Rumbera but they were both so delicious. The "bread" (I believe was made out of corn) was crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside, the pulled pork was seasoned really well and it was topped with white cheese - if I had any space I would have eaten another one. The Reina was an avocado chicken salad, definitely an amazing combination. They were really big in size, and weren't greasy at all which was what I was originally worried about. I went back at the end of the day to order some empanadas to go, but they had already sold out. I bet they were amazing, I'll have to act fast next time I go. The only other time I've had arepas, they were deliciously puck-sized and stuffed with butter from Coffee For Breakfast in North Hollywood! What is an arepa you might be wondering? Well imagine your favorite taco and throw some Colombian flair- plantains, black beans, avocado. An arepa is kind of like a corn/masa pita style with all the previously mentioned items. They have meat , vegetarian and vegan options at this food truck- the green avocado spicy sauce is in all of them so if you aren't a spicy fanatic ask for your sauce on the side. Don't fret over the , these arepas are extremely filling but don't leave you feeling lethargic. I've also had the garlic yucca fries. Very crunchy but these weren't my favorite as they are a little dry and not as garlicy as I was hoping. This was my first time trying arepas and I am a fan! They are little pricey for the size, but very filling. We got one of each option to share since we couldn't decided on what to get. There was original, reina, rumbera, k-town, and vegan. They all tasted great and the non-original versions had nice flavors and twists to them. It's hard to pick a favorite, but the ones with plantains were rather interesting since it was sweet and savory at the same time. One of my professors actually recommended this place to me during a two-week class about Colombia this past May, when the pandemic was in full swing. This place has a great take on this Colombian food staple with a lot of fun different flavors. I got both the original (with bean, cheese, and platanos and a green salsa on the side) and the Ktown (spicy pork, onions, cilantro - delicious, I strongly recommend this one). The only thing that's hard to navigate is the timing of when it's around, but it was well worth the 20-minute drive out to Glendora. Tasty food, good service, overall a VERY worth-it-at-its-price-point! My girlfriend and I pop into Smorgasburg every now and then because they always have great vendors. This specific weekend, some of the vendors had a special "percentage off" special if you used Apple Pay so it was a great way to getting us to try new vendors and ALSO get percentage off some food spots! Sus Arepas, located near the entrance, was offering 40% (or 50%, I can't remember) off of their entire menu as long as we used Apple Pay so of course I had to take advantage of that! (This was my first time ever using Apple Pay too so that was a pretty cool and convenient experience) Food: I've only tried Arepas one other time in my life and it was at a spot in Vegas. It was super bomb and different than all the Asian-based food I eat on a regular basis so I was definitely craving it. The arepas they have here are HUGE and can definitely serve one person per sandwich (if that's the right word to call it haha). I made the mistake of ordering two because I wanted to try different flavors, but in my defense, I thought they were small PLUS they were on sale due to Apple Pay! I opted for the chicken salad arepa (which was SUPER bomb, never tasted anything like it before) and the korean bbq pork (which was incredibly spicy but it was still tasty nonetheless - make sure you use a lot of napkins for this one because the oil seeps through the bottom!). I would definitely go back to this vendor because it's different from all the other foods here at Smorgasburg and definitely a different change of pace. Even with the Apple Pay discount, I still feel that the full price of one arepa sandwich is enough for me to be full and satisfied! Service: No problems with the service, overall nothing special either. I did enjoy the food as well as the convenience of being able to use Apple Pay to get a discount. My review is for the food truck when it was parked in Burbank. First the food was delicious. Absolutely zero complaints about any of the food. But the wait was out of control. 45 minutes in line. Fine, I see what I'm getting in to. Of all the trucks, this one is calling my name!,, but then another 50 minutes till you get your order. My whole family finished eating 30 mins before I got my food. I got in line at 8pm, got my food at 9:30. The food was great but that's just too much to ask. read more

Happy to stumble upon Sus Arepas after a trip to the LA Natural History Museum! Sus Arepas promises, "a taste of South America" and I their Arepas do just that. I'm a food truck ADDICT!!! We'll be driving along and spot a row of trucks and I'm already jumping out before the husband can park. They're like a thick tortilla.. similar to a sopes shell minus the frying and much lighter and fluffier, split in half so they can stuff it like a sandwich. Unlike a sandwich, these shells are equal parts chewy and crunchy. I ordered one of each and my favorites were La Reina and the Rumbera. La Reina is like a chicken salad that's been wisked with avocados into an almost mousse like consistency. Super flavorful and amazing but FYI it does contain onions and garlic. Which are 2 of my favorite things YUM!!! The Rumbera.. droooooooooool. I never would've thought I'd be a pulled pork fan. Every pulled pork I've ordered has always been dry doused with a glob of bbq sauce to mask the over cooking. Not this one. This is officially the best pulled pork sandwich..er.. arepa, I've ever had. Yesterday around 7 o clock me and my family was working at the Altadena Farmers Market and we decided to get something to eat from the food truck Susarepas we waited almost an hour for 1 order of garlic yucca fries and 2 vegan arepas. When we finally received the food after waiting almost a hour. We asked for an extra complimentary garlic yucca fries for the wait the owner there was very rude and told me sarcastically "if there's a line you have to wait". I believe he was dishonest because he would not look me directly in the eyes when he told me everything was sold out. The lady working was also very dismissive and rude. They were both unapologetic and showed no compassion for the customers time and long wait. It was our first time eating there, the food was cold and bland wasn't worth the long wait or the money spent and we will NEVER eat there again. After looking for new Colombian spots to try out I found this hidden gem! We went on a Friday night and Sunday at Smorgasbord. They have a good list of different arepas you can get. I especially enjoyed they had a vegan option, which was so delicious. Everything was made fresh and tasted incredible. Don't let the size fool you, they can leave you feeling full. Yummy in my tummy! Sus Arepas is a new food truck that cruises around the Los Angeles area. I love the fact that this truck does not look like an ordinary food truck and the food is something not usually found on a typical food truck. I haven't had Colombian food in a while, so I decided to check it out. The scent of the yummy-soon-to-be-in-my-tummy was mouthwatering. Yum! I ordered the Rumbra (pork) and the La Reina (chicken) to go. One for me and one for my husband. They prepared them soon as I ordered them. The kitchen seemed very well organized and clean. When I was driving home with the arepas, I couldn't control myself. I ended up eating the La Reina while I was driving home. The owner of this place knows how to cook meat! The chicken was juicy and it was seasoned perfectly. I really wanted to try the Rumbra, so I did. The pork was cooked perfectly as well! There goes my self control for the day, lol. This is one of the highest quality food truck I have ever visited. I would definitely try this place again and try their other menu items. I have no doubt they are equally delicious! My girlfriend and I caught a glimpse of the Sus Arepas as we were driving down Eagle Rock. We both love arepas so we decided to stop by and I'm very happy we did. We tried the Rumbera and the K-Town arepas. They are large and stuffed with delicious flavor. The meat in both was well cooked and perfectly seasoned. The size was much larger than any arepa I'd had before, more comparable to a burger. The service was also fantastic. The two owners couldn't have been friendlier. Arepas are not very popular here in California. They're hard to come by, so when I find them I try them. And I've tried a few that were ok, But these have been by far the best I've tried here in LA . The arepa itself was perfect. A good size the inside was still soft and the outside nice and golden. The filling was also pretty great too i had rhe chicken and the vegetarian with platanos inside which i love. It would be a five star for me if they had a shredded beef arepa. That is my favorite, but they dont have it instead they have two pork options, which i don't eat and i know a lot of others don't eat pork either. So until I find a place that has beef arepas this is my go to, but a lady can't survive on reina pepiada alone. I need the beef! ;-) read more
