Sushi Awry! The most shocking thing about this place is that we did not end up on Cipro after this test of our immune systems. The second most shocking aspect of this experience is the knowledge that there are people on this website who apparently like to eat food that smells like sun-baked herring on a fishing boat, and then survive to give this place 4 or 5 stars. Let's not forget the massive amounts of rice folded into the nori of the yellowtail roll, but come to think of it, was probably just as well since the fish was so bad. We ordered $70.00 worth of food thru Uber Eats and paid extra for priority delivery. When our food arrived it was cold, the miso soup had spilled into the bag and into the containers that had the rolls and the monkey balls in it causing them to be soggy and nasty. The rolls were smashed into each other not allowing you to be able to tell which rolls were which and we didn't get any napkins or wasabi. I contacted Sushi Ari to be told it's not their deal and that I needed to contact Uber Eats. Well, it is partly their fault as the rolls were smashed into the containers and we weren't provided napkins or chop sticks as requested. Very disappointing read more

The sushi here is great and the staff are amazing. My wife and I ordered about 6-8 rolls and found most of them to be just what we wanted. The few that we didn't like was just because they weren't a taste that we liked, but were still great quality. The teriyaki is good but not great. ( It is a sushi place though.) I had been hesitant to try this place since I'm a fan of Trapper's and usually just go there, but we had a really nice experience. The place was dead, but the service was wonderful. The chef and the hostess were both very friendly. My husband and I ordered three rolls each and I was stuffed by two, and he was struggling the finish the third. They were delicious! I got the caterpillar, dragon, and lava roll. Their rolls are really small compared to other places I normally go to. So I was extremely disappointed in the lava roll. The description in the menu states what it is made up of, "poke sauce", so yeah that was one of my choices. But when it arrived and I tasted it, the tuna was covered with this sweet sauce that I was not expecting.... it was 'sweet and sour sauce' they mixed it in with for flavor. Totally ruined it for me. If they left it alone I would have been fine. I mean it's called "lava" roll, I was expecting at least a little heat or something if there was a sauce right. So the other two rolls, they weren't anything special. It was like a lower expectation of caterpillar and dragon roll. Location/Atmosphere: This used to be the establishment for Trapper's Sushi before they moved. Very convenient location. The inside is about the same as Trapper's before. A little remodeling, but they still have limited seating and a bar area. Service: My boyfriend and I went during a very off hour (around 3 or 4?) so no one was in the restaurant. The waitress was very friendly and attentive, but not overbearingly so. I could see that there were 2 or 3 more people in the kitchen/bar area, but they didn't interact with us (which we totally didn't mind!). We got our food very quick, but we were also the only ones there lol Food/Pricing: If I was just rating for the food, I'd give them a 5/5! It is incredibly delicious. Fancy sushi is the best because it's dressed up with all sorts of goodies. But it isn't this crazy deep fried, slathered in cream cheese, "where-the-heck-is-the-fish", kind of sushi. The food feels very intentional, if that makes sense lol. Definitely beats conveyor belt sushi! We got three rolls for $21 and we were both full by the end of the meal! Everything tasted fresh. Definitely worth it. Overall: My bf and I had an enjoyable experience eating at Sushi Ari. They do have an All You Can Eat special for dinner (bar only) that we might be returning for! I imagine this being a good place for a dinner date :) My only advice for the restaurant is for how they've organized their menus. The list of rolls were condensed on the back page. Some of the rolls had very long names/long descriptions, which made it VERY hard to keep track of what we wanted. I recommend to alphabetize the list, as well as changing some of the names to make it shorter or use an ingredient in the name like "Amazing Salmon roll" vs. "The Amazing Roll" (btw there is no such thing as The Amazing Roll there, I just made that up lol). Went in on day 3 of them being open. The girl at the front was very nice (she's really the only reason they aren't getting a ONE star here). The roll selection looked ok, they will be doing all you can eat but only at the bar, which is small, so just like Trappers when they used to be at this location it will be stupid busy and you'll never actually get to do all you can eat cause the bar will be full and there will be no seating (it's really an annoying rule). As to the food - I got a roll and I don't really remember which one, but the girl said they could "make it spicy" since I like my rolls spicy and they did not have many spicy rolls on the menu. What I got was sweet and not spicy at all. She brought this red sauce on the side that was supposed to be spicy....it was just gross, and not that spicy either. I also ordered the jalapeno stuffed with cream cheese and crab (I think)....It's a jalapeno it should be spicy right??? Sadly not even the stuffed jalapeno had any heat...WTH?!?! I got to about the 3rd piece and what should I find in my food? a hair...black and about an inch long, so very obviously NOT my own. That ended my meal, the girl was nice and didn't charge me for anything, but I don't want to have to inspect my food in the future, so I won't be back. read more

This place would be great if we dined in. I like the ambiance even though in this Covid times! Staff greeted us as my friend and I entered after a round of golf at Eagles Pride! (Great Course by the way. If you are a golfer you should try this course! Use to be for the military but it is now open to the public). So as I was saying, after a round of golf we came in were greeted warmly and was directed to some menus on a table! The menu had great looking pics that that made your mouth water with envy! I ordered the Dragon roll, the Futo Maki and the Rock Star Roll (OMG)! They were all good! I also had them make a salmon roll and CA Roll to bring home for my wife! The Dragon roll was bigger than normal which was great! The Rock Star Roll was really delicious! Overall I like this restaurant and if I was in this area of Puyallup I would definitely come here again. There is sign in the window that says "Best sushi in Puyallup!" They maybe right! They have a sign at the entrance that says best sushi in Puyallup, and it is no lie. I used to hit Trapper a lot, and they aren't bad obviously, but Sushi Ari is a legit sushi/sashimi restaurant. I feel the difference in quality and workmanship that goes into the work by the head chef. I've had several different menus here and I've enjoyed them all. My wife and I usually get the deluxe sashimi plate with a roll (usually the Angus beef roll). On our last visit, we tried Ika Salad(tasted like soft calamari) with some Asahi beer and it was awesome! Friendly and professional staff. I would recommend to anyone that wants the upper tier sushi from Trapper or any rotating Sushi plate joints. read more
