Was craving for some sushi and didn't want to go far and stumble on this cute resturant. Sushi and sashimi was on point, especially the sashimi platter. Pretty bad experience. Ordered two Tuna Poke bowls. There was scraps of both salmon and tuna in both dishes. The used a Thai sweet chili sauce - not poke sauce. They also charged us $5 to add jalapeño to the dish, and then only added three slices of jalapeño. I would recommend you look else where for sushi - if they can't be trusted to put the correct fish in the dish, what else are they skimping on???? read more

For this Seattle guy, Puyallup is largely a cultural wasteland of strip malls and chain restaurants. Happily, there are some hidden local gems, and Sushi Ari is one of them. THE ROSES: Nicely executed food. While this is billed as a Japanese restaurant, some of the dishes are either Korean (beef bulgogi), or have Korean flavor profiles (the spicy seafood soup is fantastic!). Service is very attentive and friendly, and the dining space is squeaky-clean. Prices are very reasonable as well. THE THORNS: Can be a little hard to find if you're not familiar with the area. Location just off the corner of Meridian and 39th can be hard to get to if you're coming from the wrong direction. Dining space is a bit on the spare side. They have 3 TVs going, each with different sports, but no sound. This leaves me a bit confused; is this a Japanese restaurant, or a sports bar? But (with apologies to "Chinatown") 'forget it, Jack, it's Puyallup'. THE VERDICT: Innovative menu, good execution and great service make Sushi Ari definitely worth looking for when you venture out into the the hinterlands. Strong recommend. read more

The nigiri is always very fresh and occasionally changes a bit and it's a pleasant experience to try something different. I have only been here once and I ordered via Uber. They are open later than most sushi places so that is a plus if you needed a late night sushi fix like I did. It was alright. It was pretty expensive for what it was. They had a ton of options for sushi and some teriyaki options. My boyfriend got the chicken yakisoba and I got these rolls for us, Spider roll, rainbow roll, crunch shrimp roll, and pearls on the beach. The yakisoba was alright. It was weirdly saucy and it was placed on top of the sushi so it dripped into both of the sushi containers. It was alright, but I don't think I would order it again. The chicken was really good so I would try maybe teriyaki or katsu. Rainbow roll is my favorite of all time anywhere and this one was pretty good. It was more expansive than I would usually pay for though. The pearls on the beach was kinda weird but good when you got a couple bites in. It was good but lots of sauce so it got a little overwhelming. The spider/shrimp were underwhelming in what I was hoping for at the price point. I couldn't tell them apart until I reread the description and picked them apart. I wasn't a fan of either of these rolls. Over all I don't think I am going to order again unless I am picking up the food myself or eating in just to give it a go. If you do and order sushi and other food I would put in notes to separate them. Not my favorite sushi place but nice if you need an emergency late night sushi fix. read more

The killer salmon is fire! Literally and figuratively. It's the perfect mixture of seared salmon,avocado, and cream cheese with just a bit of spice on top. We had read really good reviews and were in the neighborhood, we thought we'd give it a try. So seriously not happy. I ordered a spicy tuna roll. It looked like it has been rolled previously and put in the fridge. The tuna was mush. (Ck out the top left slice) and the cucumber was getting dry on the edges. The flavor was ok, but I decided not to eat it all just in case. It looked like something you'd expect to find at a grocery store or corner market. I know what good raw tuna looks, smells, feels and tastes like. This wasn't it. My partner ordered the beef yakisoba. It came out sizzling and smelling great. We tasted each ingredient on its own to determine freshness and preparation. The vegetables were crunchy and flavorful. The noodles were tasty. However the beef tasted like it was just on the edge of being bad. She pushed it aside and ate the veggies with noodles. The service was great, and the atmosphere was pleasant. We had the tuna poke salad, Ari roll and tempura battered green tea ice cream. I've had the tuna poke here before and this is my favorite place in town to get it. Tonight did not disappoint. I can't say enough good things about this sushi joint. We go here regularly and every time it's consistently wonderful in every way. We are recognized by the chef and always treated courteously by every server we've had. The atmosphere is tranquil and clean. The sushi rolls are delicious, sashimi fresh and well-presented. This is my new sushi spot outside of Seattle. I been on the hunt for many months . We had the 3 rolls special for $25 and two kids bento for $5.95 and 4 sake salmon that came out to $20 which I feel like something might not be right with that price with that said still worth it. The only thing I wasn't happy about was one of our kids spilled her water and they didn't offer to bring her a new water. They also gave me my check before I was finished. I asked politely for another order. I'm willing to over look those small things because the food was delivered well and fresh. I will be back to do another review.
