If you haven't tried Sushi Asobu, it's about time you have. My family friends love this spot especially for their weekly specials. Everything is extremely fresh and sourced well. I ordered the tempura set, grilled salmon set, bluefin tuna, and yellowtail carpaccio. It was a feast! The seasonal sides were refreshing and added to the flavor profile of each set. The portions are pretty big, leaving me satisfied in table service, seafood freshness and authenticity. The sake cocktail menu was fun to try as well. I loved the mango oolong tea with sake. There's a couple of tables and mostly booth seating, the ambiance can be described as intimate and cozy.

Beautiful high end bar in little Tokyo. It is more of an izakaya with what looks to have a fantastic omakase course, that I will make sure to try next time. I tried the chicken Nanban and it was pretty good. The service was very friendly and everyone checks in on you so it is a very enjoyable experience. I would say this a great place to hang out with friends, bring an appetite.

It was a cool spot. Definitely would go back. Group of 4-6 would be good to watch a big game or fight on TV. Their karaage was bomb. Only 2nd place I've found makes it like this. Be warned, "only" 4 pices but theyre huge.

Ken, who introduced himself as the manager, explained each dish in detail, which we really appreciated. Thanks to Ken's service, our time was even more enjoyable. All of the food was fresh and delicious. The uni sushi and carpaccio were delicious. The restaurant has a cozy ambiance. We will likely visit again often.

Had a last minute birthday dinner and I'm so glad we choose Asobu. They had a very impressive wine list and we settled on some recommendations for shochu which were phenomenal. I really enjoyed the Yama imo fries, curry & karaage. Will be coming back to try more items on the menu.

Awesome spot to grab some food, drinks, and catch the Dodger's game! The happy hour menu is great, the chicken is packed with flavor, and the staff are super friendly.

Food, Service, ambiance, staff. 10/10 shout out to the big guys handling the food. Experience was so great. Very welcoming. Will come back again, 100 percent. Def recommend.

    Contradicting hours

We just walked into this establishment at 10:55pm and got turned away. The outside signage clearly says they close at 12am on Sundays and on yelp it's advertised that closing time is at 1am. I walked in before my bf and the sever/host said sorry we're closed (the one in a LA hat w/ tattooed sleeves), my boyfriend walked in after me and asked if the hours had changed and the same guy told him "we're expecting a big party so we're not seating walk -ins" and then continued to say "and our kitchen is closing in 5 min" so contradicting his first statement. There was open seating at the bar and on the floor, and we saw a different party of 2 just finish ordering their food so it was a little disappointing and confusing as to why we couldn't get service. Both of us have been in food industry and have never been turned away like this with different excuses or for false advertised hours. I'm guessing the business is doing so good they don't need to make more money after a certain time.

Damn. It's so good and the prices are well worth it. Nice little escape amongst the craziness of little Tokyo/downtown la.

Drinks: - GF & Plum Soda $8.00: refreshing! would get this again - Flower Sour $17.00: my fave; slightly tart and fragrant - Baesuk White Negroni $17.00: barrel fragrant and like an old fashioned - Plum Martini $17.00: medicinal lol Food: - Aguachile $19.00: mid, imo. in kimchi broth so it has that fermented aftertaste. - Beef Short Ribs $49.00: yuuum. oh so tender but only 6 pieces. worth a try - Pork Spare Ribs $36.00: also super tender, 6 ribs. worth a try - Bluefin Tuna Bibimbap $29.00: a decent amt of tuna, i would get this again - Spicy Braised Black Cod $41.00: not very memorable, nor was it spicy. nice and flaky tho - Chilled Acorn Noodle $22.00: salty and lots of seaweed - Fried Chicken Wings $23.00: not oily and good flavor. crispy but wouldn't get again - Hotteok $16.00: came with a sake like ice cream and it was nice! worth a try Street parking is kinda tough on this side of Sawtelle, esp since it's across the popular sun nong dan

It wasn't your typical corner haunt. There was an intentionality here that turned a simple evening out into a genuine education. The curation of spirits was nothing short of impressive, but what set the experience apart was the conversation. I arrived knowing the difference between a glass and a bottle, but left with a newfound appreciation for the nuances of rum, the craftsmanship behind a smooth whiskey, and the unexpected complexities hidden within a well-made vodka. Each pour came with a story, a history, and a level of expertise that transformed every sip into a lesson. The atmosphere was the perfect anchor for it all--utterly chill and devoid of the frantic, forced energy you find elsewhere. It was the kind of place where the music sits at just the right volume and the lighting invites you to actually linger. It was refreshing to find a spot that treats its craft with such respect while keeping the vibe completely grounded. I walked out feeling a little more cultured and a lot more relaxed. Consider this my official notice: I'll definitely be back.

The drinks were strong (in the best way ) but still super smooth and enjoyable. Shoutout to Rich for being such an incredible host--he made our group feel welcomed, taken care of, and really elevated the whole experience. A couple things to note: there is parking available, but it is paid (you can either text to pay or use the kiosk machines). The experience itself lasts about 40-60 minutes, which felt like the perfect amount of time. The only downside for me was that the bathroom is shared for both genders. For safety reasons, I personally wish they were separate--so ladies, I'd recommend going with someone just to be safe. You just never know. They also give you a little treat afterwards, which was a really nice touch and a sweet way to end the visit! Overall, I'd definitely come back and recommend it to others

Echoing what everyone else has been saying - the service is SO slow. It was about 45 minutes before we were able to order our second drink and our water glasses were empty. They have so many runners bringing the drinks out but only a few servers and, from the looks of it, one bartender (on a Saturday night - what?!). The server was saying he was trying to find a manager to help out but they were nowhere to be found. Clearly management is fine with these service times since they're still making $$$. The drinks were delicious, and I loved that there were heaters on the patio (though they did get very hot at times). Our server was so kind and brought us a celebratory drink. I do wish there were more explanations with the beverages, especially for the Paid Vacation as most people will not realize you're supposed to bite into the buzz button for the tingly sensation. I would come back, but need some time for my wallet to recover first, haha!
