They chef came out and was like, "that's how we cook it" (which is a complete lie since I've had it there numerous times before). I come here for takeout when I'm working because it's nearby. The food here is ok, but better than some of the other sushi places we have in the area. I'm a 10min drive from the restaurant and the food is always ready by the time I get there so service is quick. My advice is to never order anything fried or torched from them to go because it's really soggy and gets disgusting in such a short period of time. Worst sushi place I have been to, trust me I go to a lot of sushi restaurants around the lower mainland. 1) The server gave me beef instead of chicken for my noodles, I asked for chicken because I don't eat red meat, not only did she say I made a mistake and said beef..she never made the initiative to change it to chicken and asked me to pay extra. 2) The sashimi made me so sick I was having stomach aches all day and threw up a few times after this visit. 3) Also service was like watching paint dry, took food so long to come and the restaurant wasn't even that busy, only 5 tables were occupied. read more

I have been to this place a couple times. The service is quite good, server responds every time. In my memory, their sashimi is pretty fresh, espeically the tuna tataki. the serving of the food is exactly one mouth full, not too big, not too small. Their Chopped scallop cone is something. It has exactly what A true chopped scallop cone is need. Enough mayo, not too much rice, and quite mouthful of scallop. That is something i truly recommended. The price is decent not too expensive and it is extremely affordable. It is not the biggest dinning but if you have 3-4 people, that is an exactly great spot. Someone told me the gyozas were good (but I haven't personally tried it yet) the salmon nigiri was the opposite of fresh and the California Roll was mediocre at best. So this place has become one of my staple stops when I'm visiting BC. You'd think sushi as cheap as this can't be that great, on the contrary! It does fit all the prejudices of a small hole in the wall non-fruffy dining option. It's cheap, it's fast, it's simple, it's authentic, it's amazing! Sushi is always fresh, lots o f options, very fast and attentive service. The must haves are the BBQ salmon roll and the crazy boy roll. All the other options are great but these are the must haves! Their tuna tataki for those of you who aren't first timers is amazing here, and for those who have never had this this is the place where your first experience should be! They don't have those crazy fancy art work of sushi rolls that fancier places would have, but their rolls will make you addicted for sure to this place. Sushi house delivers fresh, standard sushi with a minimum of fuss at a great price. They have a few things on the menu that absolutely nail it - the spicy tuna roll is a FRESH single piece of fish with spicy sauce. None of the reconstituted tuna mush you get at most places. The Yam Roll is exceptional and the Aburi Sushi is great... the flame seared sushi thing is new to me, so I might be more impressed then most. The best thing about this place is the price. Going here with the family (two parents, one sushi eating child) we can consistently order whatever we feel like and get out the door for under $40. Compare that to a visit to Shiro or Maguro, which are closer to $65 when we go. For what you get, this place is an excellent value and never feels like "budget sushi." read more

Have been a regular customer here for over a year and I definitely love coming here. Sashimi and sushi are always fresh and the quality is great for what you pay for. Also, everyone here is friendly and take out orders are always prepared fairly quickly after I ordered. I have never had a problem with this place regarding either the food or services since I started coming here. Treat others the way you like to be treated, servers are human too and they deserve to be respected as well. :) read more

Ling has the WORST customer service. I have spent so much money at Sushi House as the food is really good but Ling has the most ridiculous redundant customer service I have ever experienced. Ling's attitude is repulsive - She has been this way with me ever since the first day we started going there. I called and ordered for pick-up, I asked if it was possible to switch the tempura for all the same kind, and instead of saying "Unfortunately, we cannot do that maybe I can offer you ____ instead." she gave me attitude and said "no." and hung up on me. I went to pick up the order and Ling had told me she had canceled the order but would make it now. I asked her why she was so rude to me and if I could speak with the manager, she continued to get defensive and aggressive saying she doesn't remember who I am, denying her attitude and bad customer service. I would think a GOOD REPUTABLE RESTAURANT would sincerely apologize instead of bickering with me back and forth trying to defend themselves. Why would a paying customer come into your restaurant out of nowhere and accuse you of something you didn't do? Don't ever come here. Very bad service, i ordered a katsu don and rice I told the waitress that I am allergic to the tonkatsu sauce that they add onto their katsu don, which is wasn't listed in their menu. So I request to make a change, the waitress automatically said no. I said but I'm allergic to it how can I eat it. So I ordered Sth else and just packed the katsu don . My friend and I wanted to try out a new sushi place and found this on yelp. First impression the place was tiny but seems welcoming. We were seated at the bar. There were 2 tables that were available but it was a 4 seater. It took awhile to get the attention of the waitress to take our orders. I ordered the dynamite roll. It looked really good but the shrimp was raw. It was clear in colour and was slimy. I had sent it back and the chef asked if we tried it. He then said it was cooked cause it's translucent colour. He told us that he will make us a new one. The new one came and it was also raw. In the end I just picked out the shrimp and ate around it. It took 20 minutes for us to try to get the attention of the waitress for the bill. In the end we got up to the register and pay. The waitress gave us the wrong bill and mixed up the orders. We had asked for separate bill when we placed our order and she punched it in wrong. I would not come back again. read more
