Kind servers, yummy food, good ambiance. The otoro sushi was delicious. Pricey! But delicious! The paradise roll had fresh fish on top. The beef teriyaki bowl was delicious, could've used a bit more teriyaki sauce though. I would definitely return! Also I love that they give a creamed corn soup as an appetizer included in your meal. It was yummy! Also I know this is random but the women's bathroom had such a pleasant fragrance to it! It smelled like Le Labo perfume which is amazing.

New sushi spot in Monrovia, went to check it out to see what was up. The interior was clean and modern, but doesnt look like there are too many tables so if it gets busy there will probably be a wait. The service was okay, I would have liked if they had asked if we had been there before and gone over the menu a little bit. Heads up: if youre going here to try the yakitori they only serve it from 4pm-11pm. The food we ordered was the unagi bowl, curry with pork cutlet, a bento box, and their lunch sushi platter. All the food was delicious! All tasted fresh and clean, the sushi was excellent! Curry bowl and unagi bowl were really filling! And the sushi platter was just right if you're looking for a light lunch. Would definitely come back!

Honestly, new favorite spot for bento boxes and sushi! I came with a family of 9 and we called 20 minutes ahead of time and they were happy to save us a table. We were seated in a sort of intimate spot in the corner of the restaurant that "isolates" us from the rest of the restaurant. We were checked on so many times and it never felt like service was short. We were given recommendations since it was our first time here and they were all delicious! We ordered 5 bento boxes and upgraded 2 of them to the sashimi. We also shared 1 noodle dish and 3 different rolls. Before all of our entrees came, we were also given a complimentary corn soup that was magnificent. The Monrovia Roll was one of my favorites since there were so many pieces of salmon with each bite. The portions were perfect and the quality of the fish was excellent.

Sushi Kyo Japanese Restaurant is located in Old Town Monorovia. The place was very busy, but we were seated promptly. The staff were very attentive and genuinely warm. It was clear that there was a very positive staff dynamic. The restaurant had cozy vibes and nice decor. It is spacious and organized. They served us a complimentary corn soup upon arrival. It was exceptional. We tried chicken yakitori skewer, fried squid leg Baked green mussel as well as a couple of rolls. We ordered Bora bora, Salmon with blue crab, Double hamachi roll, Zen roll,Albacore tataki roll, and Popcorn roll. My goodness! All the rolls were so savory, very fresh, high quality and the portion was generous. We also got Halibut carpaccio with black truffle. It was creamy, aromatic and savory. For desserts, we got: Chocolate truffle, but the server recommended Pistachio truffle too. We ended up ordering both. I am glad we did! Pistachio is not my favorite choice, but at Sushi Kyo is a must! It was the Best! I am still craving it since we left the restaurant. The service was excellent and fast. Sushi Kyo has become my favorite sushi place. Definitely, we will come back very soon.

I returned for the 5th time in 6 months. Sushi Kyo in Monrovia has quickly become my favorite local sushi spot. This time we were there to celebrate Father's Day and had a larger group so we were able to sample more dishes. The place was almost full at 5pm and more people showed up afterwards. 1. Kyo Sashimi - this was beautifully presented and had the WOW factor. Every piece of seafood tasted fresh. This entree was definitely the STAR of the dinner. 5/5 2. Seaweed Salad - refreshing 5/5 3. Mixed Tempura - good 5/5 4. Garlic Green Beans - simple and delicious 5/5 5. Dragon roll with eel - I would have preferred a long plate for the presentation instead of cutting the roll in half 4/5 6. Stir-fried yaki udon noodles - a bit too sweet 3/5 7. Inari - spicy salmon, yellow tail - I loved these 5/5 8. French fries and fried chicken = standard 5/5 9. Asparagus roll with tuna = beautiful presentation but the texture was too mushy 3/5 10. Red-bean ice cream = 5/5 This place offers a huge menu selection and pretty much something for everyone! Service was excellent. Free parking outside.

I didnt have any expectation when I came in, just finish up the gym and was just super hungry! Surprisingly, the sushi quality are way better than I expected. The portions are way generous! For $12 dollar fried baby octopus they give like 8 pieces, for the salmon skin salad, i thought I would see this small bowl but it's actually so huge that I can be full just by eating alone. And of course the main sashimi bowl, with gorgeous display~ Look at the picture and you'll see!! Happy happy stomach! Easy parking, spacious tables, yummy food, you got all the reasons to come!!!

Much better than Mikomi Sushi if I have to be honest. Just make the walk over here instead and you won't have any regrets! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. But overall just felt the sushi was a bit more authentic (as authentic as American sushi can be I guess) and higher quality. Everything was fresh and delicious. Good variety in the menu too and the kid's meal is huge, such a great value! Will be coming here from now whenever I'm in Monrovia! We came here last time after visiting the Monrovia's farmer's market.

Keeping it short and sweet. Good ambiance, staff, and food. Price is a bit high for dinner but lunch time special looks great. Sushi feels fresh enough, curry had sufficient flavor, and my high ball was very refreshing. Would definitely come again. Only negative experience here was a family next to me. Restaurant can't do anything about that and it's more of a personal want for me to either establish kid/ family section because everything else was nice and for the price I'm paying to enjoy this food, my experiences gets a little sour when parents aren't doing anything when their kids are being unruly, watching iPad to loud, or making a slight mess in a more upscale adult oriented establishment

    AMA ebi

I finally found my new go-to sushi spot! I had the ebi shrimp, scallops, and fatty tuna nigiri plus an incredible scallop topped with uni and truffle. Everything was unbelievably fresh, melted in your mouth, and was packed with flavor. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and it's spacious, clean, and has a modern, upbeat vibe. The staff was welcoming and friendly, which made the experience even better. If you're looking for high-quality, fresh sushi, I definitely recommend giving Sushi Kyo a try. I'll definitely be coming back!

Finally found a new favorite sushi spot in the area! Great quality and variety of different rolls. I was surprised by the yakiudon, and it might've been my favorite dish. We had 4 rolls, okonomiyaki, Yakiudon, and 4 skewers for 6 people. Good amount and staff was really nice. would def come back for the bento set next time! Also if you have AMEX PLATINUM this is on Resy, $100 off!

Service not as good, but still okay. Food is delicious again. The ambience is still the same but there was a large group that was kind of loud.

    Seared salmon sashimi
    Gorden Y.

This restaurant has the best Japanese food /sushi for the price and quality. I have been here over 5 times already. I have their waitlist QR code saved in my phone so that I can always check the line. My favorite is the seared salmon sashimi-- super fresh and you can taste the nice char from the grill. They also add a little bit of lemon zest on top. Everything on the menu is honestly really good. Until next time!

    Lauren G.

Huge servings and fresh sushi for a good price! We ordered the bento box with mixed tempura, with takoyaki, and karage chicken. All of the sides were incredibly well served. We also ordered 2 speciality roles and both were delicious with very fresh fish. For 2 people this was a ton of food and we took leftovers home. We will definitely be coming back to this spot! Tons of free parking in nearby parking lots.

(: How it started: I showed up a couple min prior to their 5:30pm opening time and got welcomed in. Before I even sat down, a stranger at the corner table asked if I liked beer, to which I said yes, so he recommended the Suntory premium malt draft beer. I decided to go ahead & order it and liked it quite a bit & let the table of friends know. Before I knew it, I'd be introduced to Stan, one of the sunniest people you'll ever meet. He & his friends pretty much make the big decisions for the mall and are somewhat more involved w/ a handful of places like Tokyo Soul. It was such a privilege to be on the receiving end of their warmth, generosity, and openness. My friend & I ended up getting to try some of the items they're planning to introduce the following week (which I won't post pics of, just to keep it a surprise :P) as we continued getting to learn s'more about our new friends, interspersed by the continuation of my & my friend's own convos. We felt lucky that we got to be served by Edward too (a mentee of Stan's), who usually doesn't work that shift, but his friendliness was definitely one of the first things I noted as I got seated. The hospitality that night outshined the food only because it was like nothing I've experienced in LA. However, the food can hold its own, and though my conversations w/ my friend + Stan & co. meant I was eating my pork katsu curry rice way past its prime state, the dish was still so flavorful that it was a delight to eat even cold. Since it's located in the mall, there's plenty of parking available. This restaurant is on the 2nd floor right next to Nordstrom.
