I've always driven by this place on the freeway, and we finally went in for valentine's lunch. They are very child friendly, so I suggest it for families and those who have kids they need to feed. The menu explains everything they have on the belt, can make, and offer. We ordered two plates because my one year old was ready to go after that. We ordered a California roll and a spicy tuna roll. The spicy tuna roll is exceptionally delicious! The timing of sushi is fresh and it seemed like each time they were placing new ones out. I would have ordered the 5$ udon if I had time, which I probably will next time. The reason I give them 3 instead of 4 stars is because their color coding for plates between pink and purple need to be more distinct. Also the size of avocado in the California roll was way too small!

Great service, decent variety of rolls, but the price is a bit excessive. I feel bad giving a 10% tip, but I didn't want to hit triple digits... the plates added up to ~$70; total was about $90. I really wanted to see more nagiri and sushi, but there were primarily nori rolls (green and pink) .

    Thin and small rolls

So disappointed. I've been on a sushi craze the last couple weeks and have had some really great fresh sushi and this place did not meet that standard. Compared to the other conveyor belt sushi places in the area - this place is overpriced. To get anything moderately decent off the belt you need to spend at least 3 dollars per plate. I also always have a few staple plates I have which are spicy tuna roll, salmon nigiri, unagi nigiri, ikura, and tobiko.. the rolls are so thin! And they only give three pieces instead of the standard four. And another thing...they told me when I ordered the ikura they didn't have any! Is this place a sushi joint or not? I'm not ordering some kind of exotic fish not listed on the menu...I left pretty hungry and spent more on plates that were mediocre. I don't think I'll be back.

    Limited hours

Tried again while car was charging and we were hungry. Prices are insane now. Tea used to be free, now $2.85. Prices of all dishes have gone way, way up and portions of fish are minuscule. The one upside was service was good. This is definitely one to miss.

We are really looking forward to eating here. We got there at exactly 730 and they told us that we could not be seated because they close at 8 o'clock. I asked what time they usually stop seating customers and they said 10 to 15 minutes before close but today they're doing it now. Seems a little suspicious to me and very disappointing.

Dragon roll with only pieces of eel skin

There's barely any eel on their dragon rolls. Pieces are tiny and barely have any eel on them. They don't look anything like their photos, I guess that's why their restaurant is empty.

A must try if you are in the are. Best sushi bar I've been to by far. Fire crunchy roll is a must. Great service. I definitely recommend it.

Way way way too expensive, the prices advertised on yelp are false. Pretty much $5+ for 2 pieces of anything

5 out of 5 AYCE for sure! First time visiting Sumo Sushi & Grill last weekend with my family and we…read morehad such a great experience! (FYI, for weekends and holidays, you'll be charged the dinner price all day). Since it was our first time, our server kindly explained how the ordering system works. You place your sushi orders through one phone with a limit of 15 items every 15 minutes. Drinks and refills are recommended to be ordered directly through your server so they don't take up item slots. Even if you order less than 15 items, you still wait the 15 minutes before placing another round. It sounds a little confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty simple! One of the cutest parts of the experience was having our food delivered by a little robot server with a cat face. Just make sure to grab the food from the section glowing blue so you don't accidentally take another table's order. Super fun and honestly memorable! By the time we were getting full, my family joked that the cat face looked menacing, because we were hoping no more food would be brought to our table lol. The orders don't all arrive at the same time and some can be delayed, so I'd suggest somewhat trying to keep track of your orders if you don't want to go overboard. The sashimi was delicious and the portions are HUGE, so definitely pace yourself because they do charge for leftovers. My son got a little too excited and overordered, so we ended up paying the leftover fee. However, I was genuinely impressed that Sumo Sushi actually allows you to take leftovers home, even with the fee included. I mean, you'll have to pay the fee either way, but I've never been to an AYCE sushi restaurant that allowed leftovers as takeout before. I really respect how serious they are about reducing food waste. They also have a small buffet section you can grab already prepared/cooked food from while waiting for your sushi orders. My absolute favorites were the miso soup, seafood boil(?), and the tempura fish that lives rent free in my head (I should have asked if I could order that fish for takeout!). They also had other hot foods, meats, and seafood options that were tasty. The dessert section was more basic (flan, jello, fortune cookies, etc.), so I skipped dessert this time (besides the fortune cookies hehe). The service, in general, was fantastic. While we were dining, a child nearby celebrated a birthday with their family and the staff went ALL OUT singing happy birthday with light-up decorations and so much energy. It was adorable and way more effort than most restaurants put in. My only small critique is that the "French Fries" listed on the menu are actually sweet potato fries. They tasted good, and I normally like sweet potatoes, but it definitely caught us off guard because it wasn't what we expected. When we left, the staff kindly said goodbye to us, including an older gentleman near the door who consistently seemed focused on customer service and even asked if we wanted condiments packed with our leftovers. We had such a lovely experience and I would consider Sumo Sushi as probably one of the better AYCE sushi spots in the area. We'll definitely be back!

Below average. In…read morefact, if I had visited the Sumo AYCE in Tacoma before I tried the one in Burlington, I doubt I would have ever walked into Burlington's Sumo. It was Father's Day, so of course it was busy. But the food was subpar, it came out in indefinable intervals, and we weren't really checked on at all. The sushi - when it finally showed up - was good, but the grilled beef was fatty and greasy. The Chicken 'Katsu' was soggy. Some items - despite taking what seemed like forever to arrive - felt and tasted like they'd been sitting under a heat lamp for too long. Horrible experience for $100. We won't be back.
