I am pretty picky about where I eat my raw foods maybe it is because of the few times I have had food poisoning from eating at questionable places; anyhow I digress. We stopped in early on a weekday evening to a relatively empty place. The place is very large inside so big groups would be no problem in here. Anyhow the food was surprisingly good and the prices are even better. We compared them to the sushi place at the mall and found them way cheaper. Sushi Revolution is pretty good for a conveyor belt type place. You are getting exactly what you expect from these places, quick and easy sushi nothing more. Sushi Revolution is one of the better conveyor belt places we've been though, the sushi during the right times rotates pretty quick so you're not left with cold items, or just a complete lack of anything good to try. We did go one time at the end of a nice rush and got a few more options that had been rotating for a while, and some colder than normal hot dishes. But for the most part they keep it stocked pretty well. About 75% of the rolls that come out will have the spicy sauce on them for some reason just like all the conveyor belt places I've noticed. But if you like that sauce you're in for a treat. Also, the lowest dollar plates will not have anything you want on them besides rice wrapped in egg wraps, or rice wrapped in a strip of seaweed, etc. Anything good that you want to try will be on the $2.50 and up plates for sure with a few decent things on the $2 plates, so your bill will stack up quick. You're not saving money going to a conveyor belt sushi place from what we've found, you'll rack up what you would of spent just ordering 2-3 rolls at another place. All in all, Sushi Revolution is a fun place, our kids love being to grab what they want and that's probably why we like it so much. read more

Average sushi, I went when it wasn't busy so maybe the sushi wasn't fresh to taste because it's been on the conveyor belt for a long time. The sushi chef behind the counter can make fresh deep fried sushi rolls or baked rolls too. I think it was the lion roll that was torched/baked, it was the only good one. Service was good, no issues since it wasn't really busy. I guess I had high hopes for a conveyor belt sushi bar restaurant. Anyways, it has a lot seating to go around the bar. read more

Updating my review as I've veen here a handful of times over the years since my initial review and the food and service have definitely taken a dive. Although this is the closest kaiten (conveyor belt) sushi to where we live, we will gladly drive another 30-45 minutes to other kaiten places in King County for a better experience. Sushi here no longer appears or tastes fresh, the cleanliness of the plastic covers over the plates are questionable, and there's not much else regarding atmosphere or service to commend. read more

Hate to give a so-so review but, yes, I have had better. Clean, unassuming surroundings. Found the offerings edible, but decidedly boring and, considering I'm not very adventurous when it comes to sushi, so that says a lot. Servings were basic to say the least, and a bit on the small side. It would be a good place to take kids. I had a bit of difficulty determining the cost of some of the plates going by. My wife and I happened upon this place while out shopping and wow, what a find! This is as the name implies, a kaitan style sushi bar, meaning that small plates drift by with various sushi pieces with different prices. The sushi is well made and well presented in addition to being tasty. If you like the nearby Sushi land, you will love this place. The restaurant itself is clean and large. The staff is friendly and very attentive. Granted, we are here at one thirty on a Tuesday so that may change in a rush. Parking is readily available. Not warm and welcoming, as is the trend and expectation for all the service industry in the last ten years. More so in the last year. I just recently began eating sushi so I haven't had a lot, this is by far my favorite place for sushi. They have this spicy crunchy roll that is crab and shrimp topped with corn flakes and a spicy yet sweet sauce. I also had their California rolls which were also delicious. We picked up the meal because of COVID, but they had it ready very quickly for us. The place is spotless so that is a great bonus! We ran into a health inspector and he also gave it great reviews and eats there himself. Can get much better than that! read more

Best conveyor belt sushi in Washington. It's like the Banana Republic of conveyor belt sushi. Actually, that's Blue-C. This place is more like a trendy little boutique. I love that their rolls are unconventional. I'm soOOOoo over California Rolls. Here, they dress it up. Most of their delicious rolls are fried with a lot of sauce, and it's the bomb dot com. But there are other rolls that aren't fried that are just as good. The quality of their fish is pretty good. And great dessert options. Yummy. It is a little bit pricey for its genre, but I think it's totally worth it. (It's not THAT bad.) Just go in knowing this and you'll be ah'ight. Fans of sushi-land might not like this place as much. As for the ambiance, I like it...a lot. They play good music with cool art on the walls. I don't think conveyor belt sushi needs to have the same sushi-land feel. Though service isn't that great, I have no problem waving my hand and calling out loud (if necessary) for my server and they'll come runnin'--which is why I give it a 5 instead of 4 stars. I managed to get myself full and have dessert for under $14, with free tea, apparently -- pretty impressive for a sushi place. The food was decent, not amazing, but better than you might expect for the conveyor-belt, cafeteria-style feel of the operation. My partners in dining crime claimed this place was had a more interesting selection than other conveyor sushi joints they'd been to, though it was all new to me. I think with many of the more modern sushi spots (especially in a city like Tacoma), there is going to be a sliding scale of success based largely on when you happen to show up. If this is really the case, we picked a really good time to try out Sushi Revolution. Everything that I ate was delicious - tried somewhere around 9 or 10 different pieces so I won't get into specifics - but the fish was fresh, well presented, and everyone left super super full without spending more then 15 bucks a person. It's true that you can't line this place up with a restaurant like Gari, but at literally one fourth of the price, they aren't comparable anyways. Yes, it is conveyor belt sushi, and those of us who are sushi snobs know better than to expect much. Still, I was definitely surprised that I liked it as much as I did. There are a couple of reasons for this. 1) Pretty good selection, considering it was a Tuesday night, they had quite a variety from which to choose--even pieces of white tuna, chunks of tuna seasoned with sesame oil and light citrus, as well as many other raw choices which I normally don't see at Sushiland. 2) Sushi chefs and pretty much all the staff I saw were Asian chicks. Why is this a plus for me? Well, why not? I thought it was cool as hell. Way better than Sushiland, which has been my 'go-to' sushi place for a while, simply because of convenience. First off, this is not a bad place. Secondly, it's not that good. We go occasionally because there isn't another kaiten-zushi (kuru-kuru sushi, marui-zushi) place in Tacoma. Sushi Revolution is cheaper than Blue Island in Federal Way. They try to make "upscale" and "original" sushi dishes, and they charge accordingly. But it's just not that good. Kaiten zushi is for the basics, and they just don't put out many basics. Oh, they'll make 'em for you if you ask, but you've gotta ask. And then they charge you a premium for "special service" - like I got two half-pieces of Inari-zushi on a plate for $2.50. I wish Marinepolis Sushi would open a place in Tacoma. As it is, I have to drive all the way into Seattle (near the Secttle Center) or Bellevue (near downtown) to get Marinepolis' quality, quantity, and prices. I had hoped Sushi Revolution would approach Marinepolis, but it doesn't come close. It's the only kaiten game in town. Sigh! read more

It was my second time here, and I'm sure between the four of us we tried over 20 different dishes. All were fresh and tasted great. My husband fell in love with their gyoza, my friend loves their strawberry shortcake dessert, and I loved the spicy tuna roll! At Sushi Revolution, the simpler rolls that SHOULD be priced on the lower plates are over priced. Honestly the quality was no where close to what I was used to, I stopped eating after 2 or 3 plates. Meh. This place seems to be hit or miss with me. Usually a miss. If they're low on a type of sushi they're usually slow to make it and place it back on the table before someone makes a comment about it. For some reason I usually place how the waiter/waitress pays attention to my drink as to how the customer service is. If I'm close to finishing and I haven't gotten a refill or been asked for one, something is wrong. More often than not, my drink is bottomed out and I'm never asked for a replacement. I'd consider this a "safe" option for basic sushi if you're truly jonesing for it, but I don't recommended that you make it a date. The edibles are "satisfactory". We were seated by our "server" and just left there at the table. We were seated at the very end of the line, just in front of the chefs, so any food going onto the belt was leaving right out of reach and would then either be chosen by another diner or travel the WHOLE restaurant before reaching our table. It took forever for an item to reach us and it was last pickins'. We flagged our "server" down and asked about ordering. He told us to request the item from the chefs. Although they were close to where we were seated, they were inattentive and seemed purposely ignorant to our efforts to "request items". The service was just not there. This is a good place to go if you want a variety of sushi for a pretty decent price. The sushi itself is "O.K." Its not amazing, but its not bad either. The service is pretty good. Drinks are usually quick to refill, as well as orders of noodles or soups. If there is a certain type of sushi that you are looking for and it is not coming by, feel free to ask and you will have it in front of you quickly (I always order extra gyoza). The prices vary with how much you eat, but you can pretty easily be full for around $10, as long as you aren't grabbing the fanciest of the plates moving by. read more

This is my kids' favorite favorite spot and is unanimously requested on Family Night. Conveyer belt sushi has a reputation of being stale and poorly made. Not so at Sushi Revolution. It's a busy place, so food turns over quickly and stays fresh. Rolls are tasty and creative. Prices are very low - especially good for introducing kids to sushi. The nigiri is only fair, as fish quality is not high (the price point dictates that fact). Ok, time to confess, I eat here for lunch almost everyday. I think they put something in the food thats addicting :) I know that for the sushi elite this is probably not the epitome of sushi cuisine. But for those of us that enjoy something other that the typical fast food fare this restaurant has been a treat. The one negative is the music. I love the always fresh salad with a very tasty dressing. The green tea is great. Sometimes, because I am always there early, selections might be a little slim, but they will make you anything you request. I can easily have a satisfying meal for $7 or less. Best sushi in the area! The owner takes pride in their business and quality of food so we know we're always paying for the best! Over the years since we first visited, the place has consistently been clean and delicious! It's not like other sushi restaurants where you order at a table off a menu. If you're not sure how the place works, just ask and they'll be nice to explain it to you! Like one time, I grabbed a plate to lift the lid to see what it is, and tried to put it back. We attempted to fight traffic down to Portland on a Friday afternoon, but decided to give up around Tacoma Mall. Dispirited by the endless line of stop and go down I-5, we decided to take a break and have a snack. As we were inching along I-5, I spotted Sushi Revolution from the freeway and made a snap decision to exit and have a snack while the traffic died down. When we saw that "revolution" stood for conveyor belt sushi, we was immediately leery. Surprises awaited when I saw stuff on the conveyor belt that were creative and a step up from traditional conveyor belt sushi joints a la Sushi Land and the sexiest mediocre sushi joint of them all Blue C Sushi. We found a unique version of a crunchy roll with tempura shrimp, eel, and some white fish I did not recognize. The ahi poke salad was a nice surprise as were the other roll offerings such as mini rainbow and spider roll. All said and done, revolution is a step above the traditional conveyor belt sushi joint. If we're ever stuck in wall to wall traffic on the way to Portland, I'll happily stop here again for a snack. Think of Sushi Land prices with a step up from Blue C sushi fish quality and assortment. Okay, unfortunately, since I've gone to a couple other conveyor belt sushi places, I have to adjust my rate down further. I used to think that I wasn't going to find anything great at any conveyor belt sushi restaurant. I was wrong. I've found better prices, fresher fish (including GREAT uni - both east coast and California uni) and friendlier staff. I do have to drive further, but I think it's worth it. Very sad! My fav sushi spot. Tried to have bday here and asked if i could bring in a cupcake sized cake to blow out my candles. The owner refused. Left me sad and disappointed. This place is cheap, and I do not mean what you pay, but rather what they give. Like most conveyer belt sushi, the plate color dictates the price. The lowest price here is $1.50. Great you say, except there is one, repeat, one item for that price. Most sushi roles are cut into six pieces, here they must be cut into 10 as the three (never four like some other places) pieces on your plate are universally less than a half an inch thick and usually around one centimeter. They have a sign that says "No outside food or drink." Fine. A family of five came in with a toddler. They asked if they could serve their toddler a small juice box and were told absolutely no. The family politely pushed back since they had a good sized group and one juice box should not make a big difference but were told no exceptions. The sushi was good, but without eating too much we were well past $20 which is not bad for a regular sushi place, but not good for CB. We were there from 12 to 12:45. When we got there we were the only customers. When we left, there were 2 small groups besides us -- that should tell you something. Shame, because the sushi was pretty good. With bigger portions, the place would be packed and they would make more money. read more

A good conveyor belt sushi place is casual and festive. There's a happy energy. The little plates march by with their pretty little nibbles. Instant sushi = instant happy. Sushi Revolution... the sushi is mostly fine, but so drab. Sad blobs of rice and fish slouching by in their nori jackets. Portion sizes are grudging. In the current economy I can accept this, but small + dreary to look at = sigh. There's no joy in the place (a little dark) or the service (adequate).
