I am disappointed to say sushi roku really went down hill in their food quality and service. This was my regular go to place years ago, came back for the memories but man... Our order took 30 minutes we were about to cancel our order and just walk out but our server was so apologetic and nice we decided to stay but the food was even more disappointing. The rolls were so poorly made and the rice crackers on the gensai roll DOES NOT BELONG THERE I was shocked. Sad to say sushi roku it's not the same anymore.

Are we so fresh and delicious. We love coming here for happy hour because it is such a good deal. Ask them to see you outside because the courtyard is gorgeous! And Christina is on point with service.

All around good time! Stumbled upon this place by accident. Had plans to meet up with some friends at another restaurant nearby but it wasn't open yet, so we decided to come here for dinner and cocktails. We sat outside but the inside layout is very cool, slightly dim, full liquor and sushi bar nice seating arrangement. The serving staff was great from start to finish. We ordered drinks, appetizers and dinner, all brought to the table in a timely manner. We tried several items, seaweed salad, shishito peppers, spicy edamame, eel sashimi, spicy tuna rolls, shrimp fried rice and Chilean sea bass (my favorite). Everything was delicious. For cocktails, Ueshima Old Fashioned, Toki Tamashi and Tropical Hibiscus until round 2 where Shoman Glory was ordered for all, a refreshing tequila cucumber blend. Awesome time.

My boyfriend and I came here for a casual Saturday afternoon lunch. They fortunately have weekend lunch specials, which can be hard to find in Pasadena! We ordered the yellowtail add-ons as starters (each order is 2 pieces - $7). We each ordered the handroll combo (3 pieces and choices of: California, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, vegetable). Very appreciative of the extra ginger I requested! I recommend parking on the Union Street bridge and walking over - less crowded and less expensive than the parking garages nearby. You will have a 2 hour limit and can pay with coins or in app.

Cool location you can walk around and check out before or after eating.

Love this place. Definitely a nice romantic spot. Food was amazing! We enjoyed the White Lotus, Tuna Jalapeño, Katana, soft shell crab, and my FAVE-GENSAI Roll. We also ordered the Pork Belly Fried Rice ( wasn't on the menu) and that was delicious too - I only wish they put more kimchi , and pork belly, and I think if the skin was crispy it would taste even better! The fried egg was perfect- crispy around the edges and runny in the middle Their Tropical Hibiscus cocktail was yummy! Sweet, tart, fruity, and strong!! Service was wonderful. The staff is friendly and attentive. Located in a cool area with other shops to walk around after dinner and take photos.. And you can scan a QR code at your table to pay.

Oh. My. Gosh. I've lived in Pasadena for so long and have never thought to try this place out. The albacore sushi was INCREDIBLE! I ordered 2 more, so flavorful, no soy sauce needed. The Brussels chips were amazing as well, just a tad salty but still good! Cute place, perfect for a date night or girls night. Customer service was also amazing.

After watching a documentary movie about the legendary Japanese chef Nobu, I suddenly craved some American-influenced sushi, and Sushi Roku came to mind, as I had noticed their restaurant while visiting Las Vegas and have heard a lot about their Pasadena location. Nobu so far still remains my top choice when it comes to trendy, American-influenced Japanese cuisine, as I have had great experiences at their original Beverly Hills location and their weekend brunch buffet. Still, I was curious to see how Sushi Roku would compare. Since I know that American style sushi targets a very different clientele from traditional Japanese sushi or omakase, I went in with an open mind and adjusted expectations accordingly. I made a reservation and visited on a weekend afternoon. We were seated quickly. The restaurant wasn't too busy, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Service was prompt, though one of the cocktails we ordered turned out to be unavailable that day, a small disappointment, and it turned out to be a sign of a less-than-satisfying dining experience, especially since the cocktail we wanted was featured all over Yelp photos, that was actually one of the main reasons I decided to visit, but unfortunately, it wasn't available. The sashimi appetizer was just okay, as the fish slices were so thin that there wasn't much flavor and texture from the fish itself, with most of the taste coming from the oil and sauce. The sushi set didn't stand out either. The sushi rice was not cooked and prepared well. While the nigiri looked decent, the freshness of the fish wasn't at the premium level you'd expect for the price. The chirashi bowl was even more disappointing. Poor variety and thin slices of fish, and the same tasteless sushi rice. I would definitely suggest skipping that dish and perhaps trying a sushi roll or a cooked item instead. Surprisingly, the fried rice was actually not bad. In my opinion, the best way to enjoy Sushi Roku is to treat it more like an izakaya style restaurant, even though it presents itself as a sushi place. Overall, food quality is the foundation of any successful restaurant brand, and while Sushi Roku may have enjoyed its glory days in the past, competition today is much stronger in the same price range. I might return for a drink and some light bites considering its prime location and great dining environment and service, but it's not a place I'd spend too much on for the sushi itself. I am hoping Sushi Roku Pasadena can be improved soon, even if it doesn't quite achieve the sophistication of its more famous peers, but it still has the potential to be a better sushi restaurant again.

    Empress' Kiss
    Belinda D.

Food was AMAZING!! We got the tuna jalapeño, spicy miso, garden salad, popcorn shrimp, and yuzu seabream. The drinks were even better! The empress' kiss is nice and tasteful. The zen garden and the sunkiss are great to have if you're the DD. And the service, was FENOMENAL!! Aaron are bartender made sure we always had a drink, and water. The manager, Kyle was also, so very nice and gave us great recommendations on what to get.

I came here for Valentine's Day and had a reservation at 3:30. We arrived about 10 mins early and they sat us immediately which we loved. The only reason I am knocking off a star is because after we were sat down it did take pretty long for a server to come and assist us. Other than that they were prompt in every other area. We did the chefs selection for 2 at $78 per person and we had a couple drinks with the meal as well. The drinks were served promptly and were on point. The fish was all really fresh and was delicious. I had never had raw sushi ever so I was so nervous but decided to give it a try given the special occasion and I'm so glad it did. My favorite was the yellow tail. It was the best fish of the night in every single meal. We also had the Brussels sprout chips which were surprisingly good! They seated us at a high table which I didn't really care for but that isn't a deal breaker and the restaurant was busy that day. The restaurant was clean and so were the bathrooms and the lighting was neutral with romantic music playing. Over all I liked the vibe and parking isn't too far from the location. Overall I definitely recommend this location for a date night even for a picky eater like myself I really enjoyed everything.

First and foremost, I'd like to give a shout out to Lance, our waiter! He really made the experience very homey. Thank you for everything you are doing! The food was amazing. Esp the hand roll ..I believe baked crab? (Can't remember correctly) but it was so good Would def come back :)

Thought it was time for an update. We haven't been here in a while so I was worried that it wouldn't be as good. No need to worry, it was great as always. I'll start with this: Happy hour is awesome. We had two orders of the popcorn shrimp which were still amazing! We also got the hamachi serrano, the tuna crudo, the katana roll, and the Brussels sprout chips. Everything was great, but special shout out to the Brussels chips. They were really a stand out. Restaurant was beautiful as always and actually a little brighter than before.

    Beef Rib Eye Wrapped Asparagus
    Brian D.

Really good meal here. We were walking by hungry and just ended up here out of pure luck. Bacon wrapped shrimp was incredible. Ribeye wrapped asparagus was good. I felt like the asparagus overpowered the meat a bit, but it was still a good idea. I respect trying new things I haven't seen on a menu before. We also got the sushi plate and a roll (I forget which one) and all of it was excellent and fresh. Really good drinks too. Excellent service. Place is nice inside good atmosphere. Theres also a patio area that looked like it would be good.

    Kal C.

Amazing interior with multiple seating options. Our food was excellent, and the service was friendly and swift. They were great with our kiddo. They even brought her milk. We had the sushi platter with crab hand roll. Katana roll. Bacon-wrapped shrimp. Rib eye wrapped asparagus. Pork gyoza (the best gyoza I've ever had, and I've had maaaaany). Their mocktails are actual mocktails (mixed with Ritual products), instead of just fruity water or seltzer. We didn't have room for dessert, but I saw some inventive things being brought around. Totally worth a visit, and great for small/medium/larger groups.

The noodles came with plenty of chicken, potatoes, onions, bell peppers, and of course, knife-cut, hand-pulled noodles. The dish had quite a kick. This time I went for lunch (they have great lunch specials) and the place was busy and buzzing. Note that here they put sautéed purple onions in their pad Thai. I'm used to onions on the dish being green onions. I happen to hate onions so it was a bummer, but I just picked them out and it was fine. Shame on me for missing out on their delicious food for sixteen years. I seem to recall back then it was more Thai fusion than it is now. But I have consumed a lot of beer, wine, cocktails in the interim so my brain could be foggy on that account. Nevertheless the food we ate was fantastic. I would love to get bottles of their sauces to cook with at home. The summer wraps are largely lettuce and Thai mint - I prefer having a bit more carrot and cuke in them, but I'm not the boss. The spinach peanut with tofu had epic spinach and tasty tofu. The Chinese broccoli in the Pad See Ew was nice and crisp. I guess there is parking in the lot in the back of the store. Seems to be marked for specific stores. I wonder, does the Spa really get that busy they need that many spots? I didn't see anything reserved for Daisy patrons. Top Restaurant is…read moretucked into a small, rundown shopping center on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena and from the outside you'd never guess what's waiting inside. This is my third visit and every single time it delivers. This is an Indonesian/Hawaiian restaurant -- and a seriously impressive one. The menu spans both worlds, and no matter which direction you go, you're in for something special. Take out only, no tables, but trust me -- you won't care. The 4 Piece Indonesian Fried Chicken with rice is an absolute must. Some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. The crust is insanely crispy, the seasoning is perfect, and the Indonesian dipping sauce ties it all together in a way that's completely unique. This alone is worth the drive. The Hawaiian plates are equally impressive. The short ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, the beef and chicken were perfectly marinated -- sweet, savory, and deeply flavorful. Everything comes with rice and a creamy mac salad, and the Hawaiian Sun drinks (Mango Orange and Strawberry Lilikoi) are the perfect companion to wash it all down. Plates run between $16-$20 but the portions are generous and the quality is exceptional -- you absolutely get your money's worth. The owner and cook are extraordinarily welcoming, and everything comes out hot and fresh every single time. Top Restaurant is a hidden gem of the highest order. If you're in Pasadena, make the trip.

Even after arriving, I almost changed my mind about ordering because the plaza itself looked very old and rough. I brought my girlfriend with me, and she was actually the one who said that since we were already there, we might as well try it. The restaurant is basically takeout only, and the inside is very simple and worn down. That said, the person taking our order was extremely friendly, which made the experience much better right away. After checking Yelp, I decided to order the Indonesian fried rice, BBQ chicken, and fried chicken. The fried rice was easily the highlight. I got it spicy, and it had a nice kick that made it feel more special. I'm not sure if this is part of the Indonesian style, but there were little bits of noodles mixed into the fried rice, which made it unique and really tasty. It also had a generous amount of meat inside, and the portion was huge. It was probably one of the best fried rice dishes I've had recently. The BBQ chicken was solid too. It had that tasty Hawaiian-style plate lunch feel, came with mac salad, and was seasoned well. The fried chicken was a little mixed for me. The crispy outside was good, but the chicken itself had a slight off taste, like it didn't feel as fresh as I hoped. Not terrible, but definitely not my favorite item. Overall, Top Restaurant surprised me in a good way. The place itself is very no-frills, but the fried rice alone makes it worth coming back. I'd definitely return for that.
