Ordered the Executive Bento Box which came with shrimp (2) & vegetable tempura, tuna (3) and yellowtail (2) sashimi, baked cod and chicken robata skewers (2). The bento boxes come with miso soup (which was nice, not too salty, but light on the miso flavor), a salad and rice. Everything was prepared well, especially the tempura which were nice and crispy but not greasy. The other items were good but not amazing. We sat in the enclosed patio at the front of the restaurant where the host station is. Our server was attentive but seemed to have forgotten about our table as when new diners were seated in the main dining room. Everything that comes out this kitchen is absolutely delicious. If you like crab fried rice, fried tempura dishes or any kind of sushi then you will love this place. I've been here a couple times and my experience has always been the same. Good food, nice atmosphere, and good food. My only complaint would be the menu is a little pricey and you don't get a lot of food but the quality of food is superb so I guess you do get what you pay for. I've gone to restaurants with pricey menus and the food is disappointing - this is not one of those restaurants. You want to eat here. read more

We got the sushi plate, the crunchy spicy tuna tempura roll, and the popcorn shrimp tempura roll. The sashimi was good, but there's definitely places with more reasonable prices and better quality fish. The popcorn shrimp tempura roll tastes like a California roll with shrimp tempura inside. If you don't know anything about Asian food or sushi in general, I could see how you could sit through your meal thinking that you're having a cultured experience, but if you're Asian and/or a foodie, you will not be impressed at all. Nothing against the staff or the aesthetic of the venue as both were decently pleasant (except for the carpet lol). However, the presentation was lackluster and the quality of the ingredients definitely did not make the cut. Sushi Roku had amazing reviews on here so we knew we just had to try it. We were soo glad we did! The place is super cute & in a plaza with other shops and near the iPic. We were seated right away but I'm sure if there was a wait, you could walk around & enjoy yourself. The inside was awesome- they had this super interesting rocks positioned throughout one section which at first I thought was odd, but it legit was the best thing. It allowed for privacy without being felt like you were tucked away from anyone. Super cute! The food was even more amazing. We started with the shishito peppers, which were delicious! I know these aren't usually spicy, but we got a few good ones in there! We also had the hamachi which was delicious and then we had the tuna belly which was out of this world. The sake and drinks were just as good. Service was also amazing- our server was very helpful, attentive & friendly. Wow! Stopped by here on a whim while I was in Pasadena before I went shopping. The decor is beautiful and the ambiance was very nice. I had the rib eye wrapped asparagus, tai sashimi with black lava salt, spicy tuna hanabi, yellowtail diced chiles, salmon sashimi and bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp skewer. I ordered the Everything Zen cocktail and it was so yummy. The perfect balance of sweet as a fruity drink. Rafael and James were awesome and made sure everything was good and it was! I came in with my family of 4 for father's day. We ordered an assortment of hot foods and fish to share. My dad ordered himself the Catch of the day sashimi platter and the table shared the ribeye, short ribs, two specialty rolls, veggie tempura, and popcorn shrimp. My dad enjoyed the sashimi (10 pcs,) but the cuts looked rather small. The rolls were tasty although one had stale fried onions as a topper. Hot foods were a little bit on the saltier side; the short ribs especially were disappointing. There was probably 4 pieces of rib slathered in salty marinade. I was not impressed with the ribeye although, for the price, was decent. It came out last just when most of the dishes were finished with; fortunately the rolls and short ribs were being shared among the 3-4 of us. Customer service was a big plus. We had the friendliest server and I wish I had gotten his name. He had a very bubbly personality and joked around with my table. Sushi Roku was very considerate as we waited a few minutes for the 4th person to join my party. There was always someone on the floor refilling drinks as well. I wished we were seated a little bit further from the back room doors. There seemed to be a lot of servers going in and out. The bill ended up coming out to over $200. Enjoyed a beautiful night with my wife. I made reservations online for 7 pm. We pulled into the parking garage 10 min before, and I received a text that our table was ready. Greeted by friendly hostess that were kind of enough to seat us where we could enjoy a nice intimate evening. Our server Gary was amazing. He consistently checked in, offered a few recommendations, and made every effort to ensure we were happy with our drinks and meals. The Yellowtail diced chillies and the Tuna Jalapeño were delicious. It was my first time at this restaurant. We had to catch a 10:45pm showing at IPIC and it was just right across the alley. My friend told me the food here was pretty good, so I was like, "Why not? Let's do it." When we walked in, I was actually very impressed with the decor. The place gave me a very welcoming vibe and I told my friend right away that there would be a return visit. We weren't greeted right away but I was okay with that since when we were finally greeted by the hostess, she was very welcoming and friendly. She informed us the kitchen closes at 10pm (we got there at about 9:50pm) but as long as we order before that, we would be good. The waiter came by and took our drink order (cocktail, sake, and WATER) and said he would be back in a few minutes to take our food order. I was a bit worried since we were told by the hostess that we needed to get our food order in before 10pm. He finally came back and we hurriedly ordered the Chef's Sashimi Plate. He blanked out a bit and we had to point out the item to him on the menu. Our drinks (cocktail and sake, no water) came and went ... the people seated at the tables around us were starting to leave. We kept waiting and our food never came. The waiter came by and told us "Your order is on its way." So we thought .. great. We politely asked for our water again. I looked at the sushi chefs and they appeared to be cleaning up. My friend sensed something wasn't right and got up to the sushi bar to check if they were making our food - they weren't. So we flagged the waiter down and he said "oh the food is coming right up." At that point, my friend jokingly said "Are they making our Sashimi from the kitchen?". Minutes came and gone, still no food. We were literally just sitting there not sure what to think at that point. So my friend got up again and talked to the sushi chefs, who told us they have no order. WHAT? ...... The waiter came by just in time and told us AGAIN our food would be on its way and at that point I was getting extremely frustrated. I literally just told him "No it is not! They just told us they don't have our order!" The waiter FINALLY walked up to the sushi bar and confirmed they didn't have a ticket. The waiter came back looking flustered and apologized, and said they will make our order right away. I told him to just close out the tab and we will need to leave. He apologized again and I just felt so bad at the point so I asked for the manager. The manager, Andrew, came by and repeatedly apologized and explained to us that the item we ordered was new and not yet put into the system, so somehow, it got sent to the kitchen and someone thought it was an error and deleted it. He reassured us that they are making our food and it would be right out. Waiter walked by again. We asked for our water the third time. Our food finally came and I honestly had to say I was so disappointed by the whole experience that I didn't enjoy my food like I normally would've. I wanted to just hurry up to eat and go watch my movie. I feel like the whole thing could've been prevented if our waiter had just taken a second of his time to check on our order when we had asked about it the FIRST time, not having to wait until WE had to check with the sushi chef OURSELVES and telling HIM that our order was not there. (Funniest thing was, he was still telling us our food would be coming right out). We got our food, and my friend ended up finding a fish bone in his Salmon Sashimi. It never happened to us before but everything was so bad at that point that we just laughed it off. Fast forward to us finishing our meal because we really were getting late for our movie. We had to go. Our waiter told us Andrew had took care of our entire bill. I felt so terrible because that was never my intention. I asked to speak to Andrew and told him to just please let us pay for our meal. He explained to us how important good customer service was and apologized to us again for the poor experience. He shook our hands again and gave us his business card and invited for us to come back for another visit. Andrew was super awesome and I honestly felt a lot better not because he had comped our meal, but because I felt like he really did cared about his business. Being once a small business owner myself, and with my friend still being a business owner for over 20 years himself, actually putting in efforts to show he cares about his customers are so important. My review: so soft! So juicy and tender -- real good beef, for sure.. Cod: my favorite out of everything. It was "cooked to perfection", seasoned with a bit of citrus , a bit of probably brown / soy sauce.. and SO TENDER, and delicious 0% dryness. Highly recommend. Hamachi/avo roll: A bit basic if you're shelling out but still very good. I approve. I was in Pasadena and was looking for a sushi spot. I ran into Sushi Roku on yelp and thought I'd give it a try. This by far is one of the best sushi spots I've found! Their drinks are really good! I went with their Matcha Mule, and trust me I had every intention on trying other cocktails but I did not move past it! It's delicious! Their spicy edamame does not miss, and their rolls are amazing! Not to mention, their interior design is very cozy and perfect for any occasion especially a date night! I highly recommend even if you're not from Pasadena. It's definitely worth the drive. It was my first time going to one of these establishments. I've passed by the one in Vegas a couple times and I never knew they had one here in my neck of the woods. So my girlfriend and I met up for lunch here at 1230. We had made reservations, but the place wasn't packed so I felt there wasn't a need to. We did just in case because it was a Saturday. Near the hostess station up front is where they had lounge sitting with pillows and a more comfy setting. My girlfriend and I decided to sit at the table towards the back area. Even during the day time it was quite dark inside. They dimmed the lights. Very romantic and intimate setting. The only thing I ordered were the spicy crunchy tuna avocado roll and the unagi roll. The spicy tuna was delicious. Had the perfect amount of spiciness and crunch. Loved the texture of it. And the avocado added a nice taste to it. I give this roll 5/5. The unagi roll had avocado in it as well. Equally delicious. Very fresh, but the spicy tuna was my favorite. I give this roll 4/5. I ordered a glass of plum wine and wow this was sweet, warm, and refreshing. This is probably one of my favorite wines I'd ever tasted. My friend had the lunch combo plate. I believe it came with teriyaki and an assortment of rolls. And it also came with miso soup. She said all was yummy. The staff was very attentive and kind. Always checking to see how we were doing and filling up our waters consistently. We arrived here for lunch at 1230 and had finally left at 5ish. Wow I know that is a long time to eat, but my friend and I hadn't seen each other in a long time so we had so much to catch up on. I felt the staff was trying to see how much longer we would be but not in a rude way at all . They tried doing so in the most kindest/politest way possible.
