Poor quality fish and small rolls. Caterpillar roll -my god the eel tasted fishy. Fish isn't suppose to taste fishy. Fishy fish means it's lived it's last speck of shelf life. This eel in this roll has to be the fishiest eel I've ever tasted. Bentley -one of the better tasting rolls. Love that eel and spicy Mayo sauce (not sure if the orange sauce was spicy Mayo). I rarely ever leave a bad review but this was easily one of the worst sushi experiences I've ever had. The sushi quality itself wasn't too bad, it was average (overpriced for its' quality). And the waitresses are friendly, but the food took ridiculously long. There were only 2 other parties in the restaurant, first order of 12 pieces of nigiri took about 20-30 minutes which was a little understandable. But the last 4 pieces of nigiri (2 orders of 2 pcs) took another 25 minutes! How does it even take that long with so little people eating in.. and then I look at the chefs behind the bar and they're hitting their cups of beer with the customers eating there.. I normally wouldn't have a problem with that IF my food didn't take ridiculously long. Will never come back, wouldn't recommend to others. Would recommend the owner to have his workers learn to prioritize their responsibilities more appropriately though. read more

I visited this place with my family for a sushi dinner. It was a Saturday evening, but the restaurant was quiet, with less than half of the tables occupied. There were even three sushi chefs working. My family loves sushi, so we go out for it once or twice a month, but I've never been to a place where it took this long to be served. It took more than 30 minutes for our sushi to arrive. Best and freshest sushi I've had in a while. Most places I've gone to actually tell you that the fish you're ordering is the correct fish when in actuality it's another fish due to cutting costs. This place however is true to its word on fish quality and I know this because I actually see them cutting fish when preparing! There is also pictures showing them doing so. The tuna here is out of this world and is what tuna is suppose to taste like. Not like many other places whom use different fish and add a little bit of coloring to trick their customers. We came to Sushi World on 6/4/25, just after 2PM in the afternoon. Saw so many videos on Facebook, TikTok and posts on Instagram about the great food they offer. We thought it would be great to try and enjoy all the delicious looking items on their menu. The restaurant had about 10 customers at the time of our visit. We started with the fried Calamari but it was chewy and not well prepared. Then we tried the Dynamic Scallop, very soft and tasty. Now for the Sushi. All the different fish we tried were very good. Tuna, Yellowtail, Salmon, Toro, Albacore, Uni, all were delicious and tasty. Our biggest problem was the service and cleanliness. Our table was very sticky and I observed, after a couple of people left, that the tables just had a quick wipe down, no proper cleaning. The service was also very slow, mind you it wasn't busy at all. Seems to me that either the staff isn't trained well, they don't care or the management doesn't feel the need to enforce proper training. I would love to come again, try some more dishes and hopefully recommend this establishment to many other future patrons. Please address these issues and you will be more profitable for sure. P.S. Well since this is right next to my nail place we thought would try it ... ordered 2 simple Poké bowls was told it would take 20 minutes which we were OK with after 30 minutes I asked where our was she said 5 minutes and she walked up to the cooks station, and I saw her do the number two with her fingers ... people across from us came in after us and got their food after 40 minutes. We have been loyal customers, even though it seems the food quality has declined in recent months, and that one time the beef teriyaki was so tough and gristly that it couldn't be chewed. I just stopped ordering beef teriyaki. Problem solved. The staff makes an effort to provide good service, and we realize it's a tough time for small businesses, so we kept coming back. But on June 26, the table top was dirty and our arms were sticking to it. So we watched as customers left, and staff would quickly do one swipe at the table as they walked past. That explains why our table was dirty. The lack of basic cleanliness has pushed us away. Maybe we'll return someday, but we're going to try other places in the area. read more

We come here regularly because we, love the food and the service is good, but recently, I had come by to eat alone and ordered albacore belly, yellowtail belly, truffled salmon and aji mackerel. I've ordered these before in the past, but there was something particularly different about the flavors this time around, which might've explained why they took longer to bring out the food - where it felt like more preparation was put into it. I could really pick up on subtle flavors that weren't there in previous eats, which made it so much more delicious. There were these extra textures and flavors that I don't know how to put into words other than it was just really really good. I hadn't originally paid attention to another observation in which the sushi was lined up a certain way, but after eating most of it in order, I realized that if I had stuck to the order, one piece ended up complimenting the next one!! It's been a while since we ordered from Sushi World. The last time we did, we placed an order at 6:00pm, and we were told that it would be an hour and a half of wait. I get it, it was almost $250 worth of food so it was a lot for them to make. So I went to pick it up at 7:45pm, but guess what? They forgot to make the order! I swore I wouldn't come back. But my stupid behind decided to give them another chance. You think just because we're ordering take-out, and you don't have to deal with us in person, that you can serve us any type of trash you want? This order of salmon sushi was nothing but FAT! It was fishy, had a weird texture to it. Absolutely DISGUSTING! Went back to the restaurant and asked for a better cut. They didn't even apologize. They weren't even sorry. Seriously, this is my girlfriend and I's favorite sushi spot. Service is always great and the food is amazing. The total vibe of the place is so us (there's a samurai cat mural on the wall). Couple of our favorites are the jalapeño yellow tail and jungle fever roll. Definitely check it out. So this place is AWESOME! So first the sushi, I loved it! it has a variety of flavors and rolls, the chef was so nice and helpful. The service and waitress were nice and gave me their opinions about certain rolls and appetizers. Thank you! Next is the event! They rolled out a 230lb tuna fish and cut it right in front of us. But first, they let my niece and nephew (Niblings) go to the kitchen and see it. This was so awesome and a great touch by the owner!! Then the cutting began, it was an event and cool to see, we had kids with us and their excitement made it better. But then the pieces came out and my 8-year-old nephew had the first bite which got applause from everyone and made him feel super special. George, I think the owner, said they do this every two weeks so it was an event. The people that came to see this were so cool and so fascinated with all this, it made the tuna cutting better. I came to Sushi World for the first time last Friday 7/18 and I must say I will be coming back! I was recommended by a friend and found the food to be everything he said it was. The sushi is damn near high-end and for these prices it's a steal compared to some other places I've been to in my time. The toro especially just melts in your mouth and I'd recommend getting at least one order if you're there. The service was quite quick for just how busy it was and the waiters were extremely amiable. There's this incredible vibe to the place knowing that you're eating at a place with a line 10 feet out the door and the fact that everyone's there for good reason. I would highly, highly recommend this spot if you're looking for what is genuinely high-end sushi in OC at a more affordable price. I myself will be coming back on Saturday as I've heard they do live tuna cutting as well! read more

Little did I know they're booked solid so unless you have reservations, expect to wait a bit in the evening for a table so they can preserve social distancing. They had a few outside tables but it was too cold outside this time of yee and the tables only accommodate parties of 2. Once we were seated and ordered everything went smoothly. Service was good. I was pleased that our server kept my hot green tea refills coming which was nice. The salmon carpaccio was delicious, which was a pleasant surprise. I was a little disappointed with the Atlantic dragon roll because I saw nor tasted no unagi. My friends ordered the other 2 rolls which I tried and thought were good but not a solid fav. Been here a few times now. I really enjoy their bluefin tuna sushi & peppered tuna sushi. My husband likes the black dragon roll and bentley roll. Their variety is nice within the mixed tempura, however, I wish the shrimp tempura was crisper. Service is friendly and they cleared our dishes promptly. It's an upbeat little place. They have now opened back up their outdoor seating!!! Which is super awesome. They have been super covid compliant with 6 ft apart distancing, hand santizers, plexiglasses, sanitizing between customers (tables, chairs and menus.) The servers and the cooks are all wearing masks. I just love it here. The food is always fresh and amazing. The customer service is impeccable by the whole staff but HIMARI always goes above and beyond to make sure our visits are always special and fun. We really have a great time and she makes sure that we are always well taken care of. She is just an all around great human being that is super kind and caring and it just shows everytime we visit. This has been on my list to try and finally get to try today. Although it didn't meet my expectation, the food isn't bad. The pic on yelp is misleading as the food doesn't look like that. Two of our favorite dish are monkfish liver and scallop nigri. The rest are mediocre. Salmon sashimi doesn't taste fresh, but other fish seems fine. The salmon skin on the salmon skin salad was burn, taste bitter. Same goes with yellowtail rib. The oyster/uni shot wasn't a shot, it like a glass of wine . In term of service, they forgot a few of order. They even charge us for one of them and I has to bring it to their attention. The server in the beginning seems to be bother that we order but ask question as this is our first time, but he seems to be more relax near the end. Maybe we asked him to take order instead of filling out the form ourselves? Overall, we wouldn't come back for ourselves, but the food wasn't that bad hence the 3 stars. read more

I've been here a couple of times with friends and food and service were not bad at all. Hence, we would come back on a day when we have extra time for lunch. Came in today with 6 people and ordered rolls, bento box and 2 poke bowls. Two of our friends got their rolls and the other two got their bento boxes (about 30 mins). As for the poke bowls..well..that was a different story. All of the other friends were gracious enough to wait for us and we had to ask 2 servers 4-5 times about our bowls and they kept brushing us off and said "it's coming". We literally ran out of time cause we had to get back to work and our friends who already had to eat their food first were as angry as we were that our food arrived soooo slow that we had to end up to going it!! Ridiculous!!! If you want to spend time waiting and getting angry because they spend waaaaayyyy too long to get your food to you, then by all means come and wait. But for us people that have time limits on our lunch and our patience...we will never come back here again!! One of the three rolls that we ordered never got made and we had to cancel it.
