I went to this restaurant with low expectations. On Yelp, there are a lot of photos of sushi rolls. Call me snobby, but I've never had great sushi at a place that serves a variety of rolls. This place reminded me that I've got to always keep an open mind. For the record, I didn't try any of their rolls. I'm not that open minded. I had their shrimp tempura and an assortment of nigiri sushi. The shrimp tempura was crispy and hot, just the way I like it. The salmon, snow crab, and blue fin tuna sushi were home runs. The only things I didn't enjoy were the egg sushi and miso soup (too watery). Not going to ding them for the soup, however, since they gave that to me for free. The service here was outstanding. The staff were very nice and the food came out quickly. Not sure if this was because my wife and I were the only ones in the restaurant at the time, but they gave us grilled fish for free in addition to the miso soup. My only gripe is that the server called attention to the specials for the day which included toro. When I asked for the toro, she informed me that they didn't have any that day. If you're planning to come here to eat sushi, which I recommend you do, request that they not put any wasabi in the sushi. They give you a generous amount on the side. The chef asked me if I wanted a lot or little wasabi in my sushi and I asked for a lot. That was my mistake. The wasabi hit me like a ton of bricks. Didn't take away from the tastiness though.

Great place for sushi. The sushi is fresh and price decently. The service is great. I've gone twice which happened to be on Valentine's Day. I couldn't have picked a better spot. The vibes were it! Everyone was taking sake shots. Definitely made me love the place even more. I got the omasake sushi. Sooo good and the presentation is so cutesy. Both times I've been I didn't have to wait and was seated right away. It's a cute little spot. Child friendly with high chairs. This spot is located in a shopping center with a lot of parking. Will definitely keep returning.

I came to Sushi Yoko on Rosecrans Ave, and wow--this place is nice. The ambiance hits just right: dark inside, AC cranked up, and you completely forget what the parking lot even looks like. It's friendly, it's fun, and the staff makes you feel comfortable from the jump. The food? Let's just say I almost forgot to take pictures because I dove right in. I ordered the 3-piece bento box, chicken teriyaki bowl, Thai coconut shrimp roll, and volcano roll. Those rolls? Packed with sexy flavor, just like my wife. The chicken katsu was fresh and crunchy, the chicken teriyaki was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The salmon? Oh, it was beautiful, moist, pink, and exactly how I like it. Nothing better than a hot pink center you can get your mouth on. The Thai coconut roll was unique and loaded with texture, sweet, creamy, a little crisp. The volcano roll brought the heat, spicy, savory, and seriously had a fat boy begging for more. The prices are absolutely worth it, and honestly, this is the best spot to eat in the plaza. Next time I'm in town, I'm heading straight here, no hesitation.

I went here with my mom last week. She said this was her favorite sushi restaurant. We were the only ones there. The waiter was super attentive and kind. Quick with water refills. The sushi was very fresh. The chef was also very kind and greeted us. I will definitely go back soon! Inside was nice and I enjoyed that even though we went for lunch it wasn't super bright. It created a nice relaxing ambiance.

Our flight was canceled and we got meal vouchers from United. Min was so nice and understanding while he served us, food was out promptly and everything was so good. We got the awesome roll which was my favorite roll . I also got the BSCR roll which was really good. My husband got the hot night, awesome and volcano. He said hands down, we're making this our sushi spot now. Our kids got the shoyu ramen and they devoured it within minutes. The place is located in a shopping center and may be easy to miss but you definitely don't want to miss out on all the rolls this place is serving up!

This is my 2nd time visiting this spot. I wanted to give this spot another opportunity. It did not failed. Service and the authentic roll was perfect. The crab was delicious. I just wish it was a bit larger. Haha. The Black Dragon Roll was delicious too. I love rolls. (I had sushi last night at another spot). I wanted to try something different today. The chef is awesome! I suggest seating at the bar. Make the ambiance much greater. I love it!

9/1/24 This was our First visit today. We got the ex-boyfriend roll, the amazing roll, the crunchy shrimp tempura roll, and one large Sapporo to share. We loved all the food! The ex-boyfriend's roll without rice and using rice paper is pretty and delicious, but it's hard to eat because it's easy to fall apart. Very good first impression and we will be coming back!

I was craving sushi before the clippers game nearby and feel so lucky that I found this spot! I came on a Tuesday night around 5pm and only about 2 other tables were seated. The waiter gave us complimentary miso soup while we waited for the sushi to come out which was so nice! The meal was a 10/10 and we will definitely be coming back ‍

When we arrived for lunch, the place was quite festive with a mixture of young people, families with kids, and an ongoing lunch party with senior ladies. Luckily, we were able to get the last table, and the friendly waiter brought the water and menus right away. After browsing through their menu, we ordered the following items: Special Fish Combo (Spanish Mackerel): The Spanish mackerel was nicely grilled but lightly seasoned. It had quite a few bones, which took a little bit out of the enjoyment of the meal. The udon noodles had a very nice texture, however the broth was on the bland side. The California rolls were well made and flavorful. Tempura Combo: The shrimps were tender, however, the battered outer layer of the tempura was a tad thick and not quite airy. Like Fish Combo, the udon had a bland broth, and the California rolls were fine. Our main issue was the 50-minute wait time for the meals. As a courtesy, the restaurant definitely should have informed us about the delay.

The first thing I tried was the Sizzling Mushroom Gravy over Crispy Rice; The dish was to die for and my personal favorite thing I tried. I don't even know how to describe how flavorful and well put together the gravy was with mushroom pieces that were perfectly soft and easy to eat. Next was the salad which was so fresh, citrusy, and tasty; It was salty and all the flavors complemented each other so well forming a perfect citrusy salad. After that was the shrimp tempura. It was not too fried/flaky. It was kind of like a taquito. The shrimps flavor was very fresh with a complementary umami flavor. The Sardine Sashimi was super high quality. It was super soft and fatty and ended with a heavy pleasant fishy flavor. The miso grilled cod was great. Not much to say about it was almost creamy and the miso was good. I ate the skin too and it tasted great. The main part of this place is the soba. The kikouchi soba are thicker 100% buckwheat noodles that were very well cooked and pleasant to eat. The Plum "Ume" broth was so refreshing and nice. I ate it cold; I probably would have preferred it hot but the is just a personal preference. The Ginger Pork was great. The pork itself was super gingery without being too pungent. The shredded cabbage was super easy to pick up and eat and the side of noodle salad and miso soup were great complements to the meal. I can tell no corners were cut anywhere and that Otafuku puts a little of effort into every meal they prepare. There is great care for all of the preparations and it was a very special meal. It was pretty busy on a Sunday evening, but after about a 5-minute wait for a table to be cleaned, we were seated. The space had a lively, casual vibe -- definitely a popular spot for dinner. I love seafood, but I also really wanted to try the katsu, so even though I'm not a big eater, I went with Combo D... which was huge. Honestly, I think it could easily feed two people. The side soup and bread came out almost immediately. The soup was simple but nice with a bit of pepper, and the bread was so good -- warm, soft, and buttery (I had to pace myself knowing what was coming). The pasta was delicious -- the clams weren't overly "clammy" (lol), and the cream sauce was light and not too heavy. The katsu was crispy and satisfying, and the salad added a nice, refreshing balance. Everything worked really well together. I ended up taking a good portion home, and even reheated, it was still just as good! Overall, a great spot with generous portions and solid food. Looking back, I probably should have read the reviews first. We didn't realize the bento boxes are only available during lunchtime, and we were also surprised to find out they don't have yakitori.
