Wooooow...Love this hidden gem sushi spot in Vienna! I've been walking past it for years--especially since I often take my dog to the spa next door--but for some reason, I only tried it the other day. And I wasn't disappointed! The sushi was fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced. We're already looking forward to our next visit. You can tell they have a loyal customer base--the interactions between the staff, owner, and guests felt so warm and familiar. Definitely recommend this place, and the uni was the absolute winner... all without breaking the bank!

We've been coming here over the years, and it's great to see that nothing has changed. Parking is tricky, but we came on a Sunday evening and had no issues finding a spot right behind the restaurant. We had also made a reservation since the restaurant is small, but it ended up not being necessary as the restaurant wasn't busy at the time. Service was attentive and we ordered two separate times because we enjoyed our rolls so much. The rolls came out timely and were fresh and/or hot depending on what we got. The standouts for us were the two specialty rolls we ordered - the Moises Roll and the Sushi Yoshi roll. We will definitely be back soon as we continue to have a great experience here.

Awesome old school sushi spot in Vienna. I used to come here all the time 8-10 years ago and it has not changed. The sushi and combos are great! We dined in recently and had the poke moon appetizer and the agedashi tofu and we loved all of it. Our 2yo daughter actually ate the whole poke appetizer and half the tofu. I rarely receive the agedashi tofu crispy but theirs was perfect! Still had a nice crispy layer! The sushi was also awesome. Our daughter ate half of what we ordered and we had to order more! The uni was pretty good but the hamachi sushi was amazing! Super buttery and delicious. Great place for lunch or dinner!

Came for lunch and loved the atmosphere. Very cozy and cute. Ordered a tempura udon and California roll and ikura. The rolls were very good and fresh. The tempura and sauce was perfect. But the udon was a little disappointing. I was definitely expecting more than broth and udon.

Tempura for the non sushi eater. Crispy w three shrimp. Delicious

Chirashi lunch was the bomb. Great quality AND quantity. We asked to not have mackerel and they happily obliged w more tuna. Great salad and soup as starters too. They are best in the area as we tried dozens of sushi places. Reservations recommended as it's normally packed but not today , Fri 1:30. Great service too.

Parking is tricky if you come here on a busy day, however they have a small parking lot next to the building with street parking but there is also a parking garage close by. all the rolls were super yummy with the perfect portion of rice to fish/toppings. Our waiter was kind and patient with us. overall the place is a small cute spot in vienna with cafe/dessert spots to walk over to afterwards.

Date night! came for dinner and we sat outside since it was a lovely night. Very quick service and turnaround time from ordering to getting the food. Food was perfect!

Honestly had a below mid experience here. Firstly, it's really hard to find parking here as the lot behind the restaurant is very small. That would've been fine if the restaurant was a good time Gonna start with the service, which was quite slow. It took us over 30 minutes and maybe 45 to get our sushi. With regards to the sushi itself, it might have been the most disappointing. We ordered 9 rolls including one specialty roll. A couple of them were good, but most of the sushi was either average or just straight up not good. The Edwin roll, which was the specialty roll we got, was particularly bad. The food isn't expensive, which is fine I guess.

Never a disappointing visit... I come here about once every other month due to working in this area. Some days service can be faster than others but the two rolls that I could never replace are the Moises and Tim Tim rolls.

Roll Combo + Church St. Roll

FOOD - Roll Combo - Salmon, Spicy Tuna, and California - Chirashi Lunch - Church St. Roll - avocado and cream cheese with smoked salmon, avocado, mango, and mango sauce on top The roll combo is pretty basic. It really just tastes like any ordinary sushi, but I would say that the price and the amount are really worth it. For the Chirashi Lunch, the fish was fresh and not overly seasoned which gave it a nice flavor. The presentation was also top-notch. The Church St. Roll was actually amazing. I've never really had sushi with mango, but I think the mango sauce with the mango and cream cheese made a good sort of tangy flavor that was really unique. Overall, the price of the food for the quality of ingredients and amount are totally worth it. VIBES So, funny story, the A.C. was not working so most of the seating was outside. It was alright at the beginning but as time went on it got a lot more irritating. So basically, I can't really base this rating on a situation so I will just note that currently, their A.C. is in the works. SERVICE Service was relatively fast. There was 1 server helping 4-5 tables outside. Food was served in a prompt manner and we got in and out pretty fast.

My adventurous eater and I tried out Sushi Koji after rugby yesterday. It was a real treat. Our…read moreserver was very helpful in helping us decide what to get, and we thought we would try sashimi (after reading reviews about the place) as well as noodles. Fellow Yelpers did not steer us wrong! We ordered Otoro (fatty tuna) and sake belly (salmon belly) sashimi, listed as 3 pieces each. We also ordered tempura udon, a shrimp tempura roll*, takoyaki, and mentaiko butter udon (off the specials menu). Let me begin by saying the space is clean, roomy, and well-decorated. We enjoyed looking at the artwork and figurines, which included anime figures that we recognized. There were many tables, and though they may be physically close together, there is enough separation to be comfortable without being on top of each other or feeling cramped. There was a family of five that was seated next to us partway through the meal, and I never felt like the noise level changed or that we suddenly felt as if there were more people around. The takoyaki came out covered in bonito flakes. The sauce was a perfect blend of tempered spicy mayo as my adventurous eater enjoyed it without being overwhelmed by heat. The bites were well-sized as not to be too large, but we were able to bite in without burning our tongues our with the right balance of batter and octopus, and we both enjoyed it greatly. The sashimi came out with the shrimp tempura roll on a beautifully arranged boat - 4 pieces each! We each tried two pieces of otoro and sake belly, and the pieces just melted into our mouth. The otoro was garnished with what appeared to be hint of wasabi and maybe chopped jalapeño, which was too much for my adventurous eater to try, so I gently scraped it off. Neither of us were able to taste anything but the well-chosen slices of fatty tuna, which were a hit. We then tried the sake belly which were garnished with a sliver of fried garlic and garlic paste. Again, I scraped it off for the adventurous eater, who then raved about how delicious it was! I tried it with the garlic and agreed. The garlic was perfectly fried, and was the right amount not to overwhelm the delicate buttery texture and flavor of the salmon belly. Although, I will admit - while it's a nice flavor to add, the sashimi itself didn't need anything to be added. The tempura udon came out, with perfectly battered pieces - 2 shrimp, an asparagus, an onion ring, a slice of sweet potato, and a slice of eggplant. My adventurous eater attacked the shrimp while I munched on veggies. The batter was crispy, light, and not greasy. My mentaiko butter udon came out and I am so glad I ordered it! There was a little nest of noodles, with two halves of a soft-boiled egg, and plenty of creamy sauce. The menu described the dish as buttery and umami and it did not deceive. The udon was perfectly chewy and slurpable, coated with delicious creamy sauce. I debating mixing in the eggs because they looked so perfect, so I dipped one half in the sauce instead and ate that whole, before mixing in the other half into my bowl. Even my adventurous eater tried a little bit of my udon and agreed that it was delicious! Not having had mentaiko butter before, I looked it up before writing this review. The dish is described as being a spicy-fish roe butter sauce, but what we are talking about is a very mild heat. The dish was warming, tasty, and very comforting. It was also surprisingly light considering the buttery richness of the flavors. I finished every last bit of the noodles in my bowl and drank the rest of the sauce, with all the fish roe stirred in. I may have also commented a couple of times on how phenomenal the dish was. That was when our server shared that it was the first day it had been on the menu, so they were looking for feedback. I would say that the dish alone is worth checking out, but I feel like you will keep coming back due to the quality of everything else. I think this place is a gem and I will definitely look for excuses to return to Oakton to eat there again. Between the friendly service, the cheerful ambiance, and the amazing food, this is hitting all the right notes! * My adventurous eater filled up on everything else before even getting to the shrimp tempura roll, so we ended up packing up the rest of the udon and the shrimp tempura roll to bring home. Due to life, the roll never made it into the fridge, so we tragically had to toss it without trying it. I wish I could tell you how it was, but I can say the roll was beautifully formed and served and looked absolutely delicious. This is where I wish I had taken pictures of everything.

I initially thought it would be mostly rolls, but it leaned more toward nigiri. That said, everything was super fresh and really well prepared, so no complaints there. I recently started eating seafood again after years of avoiding it, so I have been easing into it, and this was actually a really good place to do that. The fish tasted fresh, clean, and not overly fishy, which made it a lot easier to enjoy. The Osaka roll, which our server recommended, was really good, but my favorite was definitely the paradise roll from the sushi boat. Anything with shrimp tempura is a win for me, and this one hit the spot. The ambiance is cute, cozy, and on the smaller side, which made the whole experience feel more quiet and intimate. It did not feel rushed at all, which I appreciated, especially since we were breaking our fast. We ended up taking a lot of food to go because the portions were so generous, and surprisingly, everything still tasted fresh and delicious even the next two days. The only downside is that it is definitely on the pricier side, but the quality, portions, and overall experience helped justify it. Overall, great quality sushi, generous portions, and a calm, intimate vibe. Definitely a spot I would come back to, especially if I am in the mood for fresh sushi without a loud or hectic atmosphere.

If you are in the need of a nice warm yummy broth - then you will not be disappointed by the halal chicken ramen. This is by the far the tastiest ramen I have ever had. It is quite a lot for one person. ( well for me anyway). I can only comment on two types of sushi that I tried and every time I had it - well it was delicious. The salmon and avocado rolls and the red dragon roll. You just can't go wrong on that order. The ambience - they have booth tables and there are signs that say you should not clean your table after you are done as they clean up - which is awesome. Drinks are in the refrigerator on the side so you can help yourself to that when you purchase it. You can order at the counter or from a self service kiosk ( they only have one - which is quite annoying when you have to wait to order). If I had to think of a few minor improvements - they have soy sauce on the tables but I wish they had a low sodium soy sauce to offer as well. I also think that if the place got busy ordering would be an issue as they have one person taking orders and one self service kiosk. But those items are minor and I will always keep coming back for the delicious food!

The second time we also didn't have a reservation and the hostess again seemed very hesitant to add us to the wait list. This time we did wait and were quoted 1.5 hours and it actually took about an hour. Not as bad as quoted but still busy! Third time we finally had a reservation and it still took us 20 mins to get seated as they did not have a table ready for us. To be honest the restaurant itself seems too small, they probably could be twice as big. The reason is the food at Genki Izakaya is in my opinion the best of the 3 Izakayas in the area. The Yakitori is good, hot and reasonably priced although I wish they would let you customize the $20 Yakitori Platter. I tried the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Hot Stone and was surprised that they cook it for you instead of you cooking it yourself on the hot stone. The waiter overcooked 2 pieces of the Wagyu which is annoying when it is so expensive but overall it tasted great. I like their Tonkotsu Ramen, it broth tastes great and I've had ramen all over this area, in New York City, LA area, Tokyo and Kyoto. It isn't the best I've ever tasted but it is really good especially for this area. Once seated the service is good and the food comes out quickly and everything we've had has tasted great. The only problem is how crowded it can be because its so popular! Only bad thing for us is it isn't too close about a 45 min drive but worthwhile - definitely try it if you like Izakayas and Japanese food.

The miso soup was good but the salad was avg. The dressing got really watery. The gyozas & Cali rolls were fair but generous servings of tempura were outstanding! Crisp & hot. Even after 10 mins. Not oily or greasy. The rice was cooked properly. The only misstep was the steak. The steak was also cooked properly at medium rare & looked beautiful. The inside was nice and pink. But upon chewing, the steak was not tender at all. Very very chewy. When you were young, you were taught fo chew at least 30 times. Well, this exceeded the recommended amount of chewing. You are also given two different sauces to dip your food in, should you so desire: one is a ginger sauce, and the other is a special sauce - that's what they call it - and I'm not really sure what's in it, but it's kind of like an Asian inspired thousand island sauce is the best way to describe it. SERVICE: Our server, Rose, was the bees' knees!!! Our chef was great too & I don't know his name, but he was a little less lively than others, but I think that's because we were a bunch of adults only lol. AMBIANCE: All in all, everything was great, and our party enjoyed their meals. I personally thought everything kind of tasted the same. Not a place I would frequent, and it is kind of expensive, but you do get a lot for what you pay for, and it is definitely a fun place to go to for a celebratory occasion. Keep in mind the tables are in a U shape, so it's really hard to be present with your entire party, and whatever side you're on, you feel like you're on your own little island, which is a little disappointing for a birthday celebration, but we still had fun and made it work the best we could. The restaurant was clean, but you felt like you're going back in time. The ambience was casual yet very lively and fun. 3/1/26
