From the moment I walked in the restaurant I felt like someone was watching me and as I got up to leave it was like they were expecting me to like dine and dash. Open at 11:00 AM. All the food is out and always fresh when you go right at 11:30 - 12:00PM. Just in time to snatch the first pot stickers and spring rolls hot off the line. Everything your sushi loving heart desires floats by you on a conveyor belt. If you don't see it you can request it and they will make it for you right away. This is also what I call "Safe Sushi" because the majority of the rolls are smoked, cooked or imitation (crab). They do have the traditional sashimi which is usually raw. Overall, I'd recommend this place. The sushi isn't phenomenal, but it's a good cheap sushi place in Gresham. They charge by the plate, so if you're not careful the price can climb pretty quickly. That being said, I've never left the place unhappy, so it's a winner in my book. read more

Affordable. Decent selection on the conveyer on most days, however it would be nice to have some of the tempura rolls on the line like other sushi places I've frequented. Ordering them from the menu seems to take forever. There are other menu options for the kids which was nice, but the biggest downfall of this place is the wait staff. They are often understaffed in my opinion, and the waitresses are not attentive at all!!! IF you can get their attention, they seemed bothered and slow. Nasty. Ingredients are not fresh. Flavors are gross. The place is dirty. The 'chefs' are pretty clearly just putting together the food without knowing squat about sushi. I'm not a sushi snob. I don't give a flip about traditional style or what-not. I just want it to taste good, be fresh, and enjoy my meal. And oh yeah, there are roaches. No joke. I got video of one (ON the belt with the food) and pointed it out to the waitress....who acted like it was no big deal as she scooped him up with a napkin and went about her business like it happens all the time. This is the place i go for sushi every time. Its cheap, convenient and it has many options. The workers are very friendly and I am always satisfied with my meal. They are prompt with the beverages and very nice about your orders. You have to keep in mind this is not an elegant dining experience. They have a fast paced, fun and social environment. They're specialty is sushi, but they have more food also. My only complaint is not knowing how long a pot sticker has been up there. I would like my warm food to be warm. But, if you notify a waiter about it being cold they will bring you a new, fresh plate. I love this place. read more

Don't understand what is up with all the reviewers who say they stood 'awkwardly" at the door waiting to be seated... HELLO???? This is a conveyor belt restaurant. Seat yourself wherever there are the number of seats you need and then serve your danged self. Catch a waitress if she doesn't notice you to ask for whatever you want to order to drink from water to sodas, juices, and domestic and Japanese beers. The plates are all color-coded by price to help you make budgetary dining decisions. Sushiville has a pretty outstanding tuna/salmon/rice tower that is simply AMAZING! Never have seen the likes of it anywhere. Also, catch the attention of the Sumimasen (who I think is Mexican... ) and ask for the Shrimp Tempura sushi, which, if you are like me, HAS to be served fresh and hot, hot, hot!! So yummy. The place may not be authentic enough for some, but when you suddenly find yourself jonesing for sushi at Best Buy, or your bank (next door; or waiting for too long to be seated at Red Robin) scooch on over for to Sushiville for a fine fix of sushi so you can get on with your life! I'm rarely disappointed here, but the few times I have been, I ask for it to be removed and the plate is not added to my total when they are added up and that has been that! No restaurant is perfect, or serves up perfect dishes every single time, but as long as you are willing to speak up for yourself, Sushiville staff will take care of it and you, so what more can you ask? If you feel awkward waiting to be seated in a self-seat place, or do not demand what you want, and what you know is fair -- for dishes that were ill-prepared or not (to your tastebuds) fresh -- then if you do not speak up, your poor dining experience is your own fault not the restaurants. Not too bad of a place. I come here every Thursday afternoon with my son. He gets fruit and a juice and I get my shrimp dumplings. The girls are always so kind to him, they have always been. That's what I love about this place- they treat him like a person. He's two, and most places we have been make little to no effort in speaking to my son or making him comfortable. He talks, A LOT, and doesn't hesitate to ask for what he would like to order. He knows what he wants and he knows how to politely ask for it. The girls make an effort to ask him what he'd like, or go the extra mile to make him happy. One time he became very upset and quietly cried and one of the girls offered him free ice cream, of course after they asked me. For treating my son so well, these girls have earned my business and we will continue to be there every Thursday. read more

Use to be my favorite local place until recently. The food has always been good, but the service last time was horrible. When checking out they refused to honor their own fully filled out rewards card. Were advised owners were present, brought it to their attention, no satisfaction. I nor my family will go there again on principle. Update: after a BBB complaint - I did receive a check from the ownership for the value which was denied. There was no "note", no apology - nothing. So the matter was resolved. I do like their food, and their staff is almost always first rate - I don't visit often because I know my profits support ownership who didn't turn lemon's into lemonade, my sense is they feel they are "above" their customer's needs or something. I've changed my rating from 1 star to 3 stars, and really if it wasn't for the owners attitudes - this would be a 4 to 5 star rating. read more

They are very nice, customer service great, but sometimes you have to call them instead of them coming to you, which is quite awkward. Next, the food is delicious but, they leave some on the Go-Round for hours and if you go there late you'll just get food that's been sitting there. There was only one other party in the restaurant, but still the calamari we ordered from the chef still took forever. Bad service. It took forever for someone to notice we were waiting to be seated then when they finally did they told us to seat ourselves. There ended up being No clean place to sit so we had to wait even longer for them to realize they had to clean off a spot for us to sit. Then they didn't offer us drinks so we had to flag someone down after 10 minutes of waiting. The waitresses need to focus more on the customer and not so much on themselves. Very disappointed hopefully they hire new servers soon because these girls Don't know What the hell they are doing. read more

ive been going here about 5 years. we used to go once every few weeks. they had a really good sushi chef who made awesome rolls. he made this one that had no rice but involved wrapping tuna in a slice of avocado. yum! jessica was usually our server and is the nicest lady on the planet. well. the chef left and jessica went way part time due to her schedule at PSU. good for them, bummer for us. we stopped going except when we were 'desperate' for sushi and didnt want to drive into town (what i call going to portland from troutdale). the service has gone downhill, in that they dont greet you or seat you when you come in. you just sorta find a spot and hope they come take a drink order. the fish doesnt taste as good as it used too and the rolls seem like they have spent some time on the belt. when we went here the other day we agreed that that was it. so sushiville...the staff really make a huge difference.... read more

Just left and I'm already searching for a bathroom. What happened, Sushiville? 6 years ago you were the best place in Gresham to grab some sushi, but now it isn't worth looking your way. I regret stopping in with my family tonight. The service was awful, when we told the waitress that the meal was sub-par at best, she just laughed and grinned at us like a goon. When we were rung up, and repeated our complaints to the cashier, his response was "yeah, we get that a lot. The food isn't good. We've been told we have gone downhill. I'm just here for the money." $60 NOT well spent. Also, the bathroom was disgusting and filthy. The best part was hot water to wash my hands- but even that was so hot it burned me. I was not impressed with their staff. The server told me I could sit where I wanted and the hostess was quite abrupt, informing me I needed to move from a table. I told her she needed to work that out with her staff and then I would listen to what they wanted. Management came over and asked me to move. I have no problem with their 2 seated table policy but when a staff member tells a customer that this policy can be ignored I think that it should be honored for that one visit and that staff need to communicate better. When I paid, I was met with ice from the manager. This place is very cheap if one is on a budget. It met my need for having sushi but I will not visit again. I love sushi bars because generally I receive impeccable service but this one missed it. The staff are not in a place to care and this impacts the overall experience. read more

I use to love this place. My wife and I use to be regulars to where our waitress knew exactly what to get us when we got seated. But since she quit, there really hasn't been quality service. It's slow and sometimes non existent. It's way understaffed. If it's busy, you will be waiting a long time to get a seat. Sometimes it's best just to tell the waiter/waitress that you want to just sit at an open bar seat while pointing at it. Seems there is only one or two people who run around between writing orders, pouring water and cashiering. That causes them to walk past customers who they haven't helped in a long time. I don't start eating until I get my side of sriracha mayo and water. Sometimes that's a while and sometimes they will forget the sauce. I try to drink my water slowly. I swear the portions on the salmon rolls use to be bigger and i remember when the prices were around 75 cents less per plate. The quality is not all that great either. Most of the rolls become warm from sitting out so long. I like it when they make it fresh and fish is still cold and the rice is warm. I think they should put out a survey of which dishes customers eat most of and concentrate on those to keep things fresher. I've noticed the past couple years they've had new management and there's a lot of new 'creative' dishes but I just miss fresh plates and they're trying really hard to keep their customers by trying different combinations. It seems sometimes they just add a drop of sriracha on top of an already good roll and charge 50 extra cents for it. Overall it's good to go here when it's not busy. You can actually have a pleasant dining experience. They've turned down the A/C so it's not freezing like it was a couple years ago. I love the sockeye salmon rolls. The white sauce on top of that is excellent. Only reasons I keep going back is for that sauce and I can't find another sushi-go-round in Gresham. I like that style because I can eat whatever I feel like and not have to order a huge plate for just a few things I look forward to eating. read more

I have gone to this location for several years now and never been really happy with the service or food. Today was the topper though and I will never go back. I specifically ordered grilled chicken skewers and knew it would be a 20 minute wait. After 20 minutes I asked about my order and they informed it takes a long time to cook. I asked them to check and they came back with an order of deep fried blobs of chicken on a skewer. They tasted like old fry oil. I did not eat them. They were out of tea (really??) and the fruit was mushy. When I spoke to the manager about my concerns he became very agitated and his response was to rip my check to pieces in front of me. Wow. I like to check out new places in an area I am unfamiliar with. Todays choice was Sushiville in Gresham. One of the worst sushi experiences I have had. Not the worst. Rice is seasoned well, but WAY overcooked, mushy. Like a white pad of paste. Fish is fresh, very important, but waterlogged. I realize it comes frozen, but other places I have been to don't seem to have this problem. Prices are high. You can get tuna salad for 1.25. I will say, the servings are large, a few plates make a good meal. Not much variety. Seating on talk bar posts, no back. Nowhere to hang a purse or jacket near you, behind me on the wall isn't where I want to put my purse. No card or menu offering teriyaki, tempura, or anything like that. The host was too busy to be friendly. He yells across the restaurant and nods to where he wants you to sit. I find this unwelcoming. I will not be back. read more

okay. i have tried, really tried, to like this place. it is close to my home and my kid *really* likes sushi train sushi. when they first opened it was great. no wait, cheap, somewhat fresh and friendly service. the second time was quite awhile after the first and service was good but food ok at best and i had to stop eating because of warm fish. ew. after a long absence we tried again last week. never going back again. even though there were a lot of customers the belt was very sparse. i have learned to wait and watch at the belt to see what is being put out fresh. well i waited a looong time for anything from the one "chef" to put anything out. i tried several times to order with him only to be completely ignored. finally the owner(?) came and took an order for calamari which took a very long time but was served hot and tasty even if it is not my favorite style of fried squid. i tried again to get the attention of the "chef", who was right in front of me, only to be completely ignored again! the owner? manager? was running around like crazy doing the jobs of the hostess/servers/bussers and putting in orders for the cooks and was really very nice when he had the time to get to everyone. his enthusiastic attitude is the only reason they get a final 2 stars from me. i will not be returning. if i hear in the future that they fix the horrible customer service issues and quality problems i would be willing to try again. until then we will be traveling to O'Sushi for much better quality and superb customer service. read more

I have had sushi only three or four times before and never at a place that specializes in sushi. So far Sushiville is my favorite. The sushi has great taste, good appearance, and the service while not quite as helpful and informative as I would have liked, was both prompt and attentive. The chef (someone told me he was the owner) seemed quite skillful, but also a bit bored (maybe tired) while preparing a variety of rolls and boats in front of us. The prices seemed reasonable. For $17, I tried four plates, and enjoyed a single bottle of saki and left wishing I came with a better appetite. At last, in the interest of being thorough, while we were eating a party of young ladies, one of which was wearing a very skimpy bikini top came in, and was not allowed to be seated due to her revealing attire. I'm not passing judgement, but I thought both the patrons and the establishment could have handled the situation better. Quick and cheap. This place doesn't have the best or the worst sushi. Been eating here for a couple of years with only a few complaints. Do not order anything from the kitchen, it takes way to long. Concerns about how long the food has been on the belt. I once refused to eat a plate because the raw fish was warm to the touch. I told the worker but she wasn't to concerned. It's hard to flag someone down for your check. It seems if they know you are looking at them and they turn and go the other direction. I ONCE had an encounter with some roaches. Also, they use frozen fish I witnessed the sushi maker guy defrost it with a torch! I thought raw fish was supposed to be consumed super fresh?
