Got takeout dinner here, and appreciated the attentive service when I came in - they packaged my hot tea separate with the tea leaves so I could steep it myself - I've never seen this before at a restaurant! The fish and rice quality was alright, I really liked the salmon and tuna but felt the rice was a bit hard. The spicy tuna roll was very delicious though!

This was our first time visiting this sushi restaurant and absolutely loved it! I loved the downtown feel and atmosphere as well as the interior of Sushi Ya! I felt like it was in a true Japanese sushi house. The weight staff and sushi chefs were amazing! Try the buttered edamame and miso soup! We got the Rainbow Roll and I got the rice less Sumo Roll! They were very fresh and loved the fresh wasabi! Will definitely go back!

Dragon Fly Roll - very good.

Sushi is fresh. The tempura is tasty. It would have been nice if the waitress would have described which pieces of sushi the chef picked for us on the Osaka. Prices were a tad high and the place was not crowded at all. Super casual.

Great sushi in downtown Dallas! My husband introduced me to this place after he fell in love with their "Tuna Lover" lunch special. I can agree it's a great deal for the quality and quantity of tuna they give you ($17). When i want something a little different, I get the tower. It's a lot of food! Make sure to mix it together to get the perfect combo of creamy, crunchy deliciousness. Every time I've been (lunch) it's busy. Because the hours cater to the local business professionals, if you're coming on the weekend or not during lunch hours make sure they are open before coming.

    Sushi stairway to heaven!

Sushiya is a great place to get fresh, generous slices of succulent sushi and sashimi at a very reasonable price. Don't think "raw fish in Dallas?", but instead ask is there a thoughtful sushi master who knows how to choose a good selection of fish and how to prepare it. This was some of the best I have had in a long time. Service was also excellent and friendly. The chef came over to the table to check on our satisfaction, which gave us the chance to thank him for his efforts. Don't miss this place.

My BFF and I were in the area. To pass time, we went to Sushiya. We had to park in one of the paid parking lots a block away and it was chilly out. That's downtown for you. The restaurant was nice on the inside and the staff were friendly. Sal did an excellent job with our sushi rolls. Prior to making them, he discussed our order with us to ensure that he made them exactly how we wanted them. He didn't miss. They were on point. I got the Volcano Roll minus the onions and requested real crab in place of the imitation. There was an up charge which was to be expected and it was really good. Bestie went with the Love Love Roll because she wanted a riceless roll. She was pleased, as well. Four stars are because they have a list of cocktails on the menu...under the header "COCKTAILS." I asked for a Mai Tai, which was one of several listed. The waitress responded with and I quote "We don't have cocktails." I was at a loss for words and just asked for water. Because Ms. Ma'am, why is there a whole list on the menu?

This review is for January 23rd, '24. I went to have lunch with a friend. I've always noticed this place, but have never bothered to try it. I wanted a Mai Tai, but i the nice guy assisting house informed me that they did not have all of their ingredients which was disappointing. My friend suggested I order a Tokyo Tea, and it was honestly very delicious. I was hungry, but not that hungry so I orders as California roll and a spicy tuna roll. Honestly after finishing my meal, I could have ordered more food because I did actually indeed feel incomplete and not full after my meal. The staff were very nice, and the vibe for this small quaint place was actually very nice. I'll return.

    Tempura sampler

We ordered Miso Ramen, Eel Roll, California Roll, Bento #1, and Tempura Sampler. Everything is good except for the ramen. Their soy sauce is too dark too.

    Sumo Tower! Yummy & beautiful!

sushiya is fantastic! While new to Dallas, I check it out on Friday and it was a great evening: food was outstanding (sunshine roll, sakura roll, and sumo tower) and service was very friendly and fast.

Good service and sushi. Been here a few times and have never been disappointed. Lunch specials are a great deal here!

We're so glad the nice, valet guy at the Thompson Hotel recommended this place, which is across the street. Now living here in Dallas, we will definitely eat here again! This place is full of goodness, fresh food, packed full of flavor, but my favorite part was the people who worked there. So friendly & welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed and more!! Highly recommend the chicken fried rice, dragon, and tempura roll.

Our table was seated directly beneath an air vent that was actively dripping water. During dinner, the water repeatedly dripped onto me. After notifying the staff the first time, they simply wiped down the vent while food was being served rather than offering to reseat our party. When I brought the issue to their attention a second time, the response was the same; they wiped it down, but the dripping continued throughout the remainder of the meal. For a restaurant at this price point, I expected a more proactive solution and better attention to guest comfort. Additionally, our group ordered the Demon Slayer 300 mL sake, priced at $55. After pouring the sake, our server, Adonis, took the bottle away with him, even though we understood that the bottle was intended to remain at the table for our party. This added to the confusion and frustration surrounding the overall experience. As a first-time guest, I was looking forward to an enjoyable dining experience, but the lack of attention to these issues left me disappointed. While the food may have been enjoyable, the service and handling of these concerns fell short of expectations, particularly given the cost of dining here.

I've been to a lot of AYCE sushi places, and after today's visit, I think JingHe has moved to the top of my list. They even offer chu toro, although it's limited to four pieces per person. The rice to fish ratio was perf! The rice was cooked and seasoned beautifully, and the fish tasted fresh and was cut nicely. Oh, and ask for the pickled wasabi...SO GOOD! I went to Japan recently. I want to start there because the Japan trip is directly relevant to this…read morereview in a way that will become clear shortly and also in a way that is deeply embarrassing and I have made peace with both of those things simultaneously. Japan was extraordinary. The food was extraordinary. The trains were extraordinary. The trains specifically deserve their own paragraph because I have never in my life encountered a public transportation system that operates with the precision and quiet dignity of the Japanese rail network. Trains that arrive at the exact second they are supposed to arrive. Trains that leave at the exact second they are supposed to leave. A whole society of people moving through stations the size of small cities with calm purpose and zero visible distress, consulting their phones, reading books, buying things from vending machines that should not logically exist inside a train station but do because Japan has decided that convenience is a human right and I agree completely. I tell you all of this to explain what happened at the train station when we tried to find pizza. Now I know what you are thinking. You went to Japan and you tried to find pizza. And yes. Yes we did. We had been eating spectacular Japanese food for several days running, food that made us question every culinary decision we had made in our entire lives up to that point, and then something happened in the group dynamic that can only be explained as a collective temporary insanity and somebody said what about pizza and instead of saying no we are in Japan and there is yakitori available within forty feet of us at all times, everybody said yeah okay pizza sounds good actually. The station we were in had approximately forty seven exits. I counted. Not all of them. I counted forty seven before I gave up counting and simply accepted that exits were infinite and directional signage was a suggestion. We had been told the pizza place was near exit B14. There was no exit B14. There was a B4 and a B41 and something that might have been B14 but was labeled in a way that required a level of kanji literacy I had not developed in the forty eight hours since landing. We walked for twenty two minutes. We passed the same Family Mart three times which I know because the same employee was stocking the same shelf each time and by the third pass he looked at us with an expression of gentle recognition and what I can only describe as compassionate pity. We never found the pizza place. We found a ramen shop instead and ate the best bowl of ramen of our collective lives and agreed to never speak of the pizza incident again except that I am speaking of it right now because it is directly relevant to the fact that when I came back to Dallas and needed Japanese food that did not require navigating a forty seven exit train station, I went to Tei Tei Robata Bar on Henderson Avenue and everything was immediately right with the world. Tei Tei has been on Henderson Avenue since the late nineties. Founder Teiichi Sakurai, who is also the man behind Tei An which if you have not been to Tei An please go immediately after reading this review and before doing anything else in your life, has been a James Beard semifinalist six times which is the kind of number that should be printed somewhere more prominently than it currently is, like on a highway billboard or possibly the side of a building. You walk in through a Japanese garden to get to the entrance. A Japanese garden. In Dallas. On Henderson Avenue. Between a taco place and a bar with a patio. I walked through it after the forty seven exit train station and my blood pressure dropped twelve points immediately and I have no medical evidence for this but I am confident it is true. Robata is the traditional Northern Japanese grill style. Wood charcoal. Low heat. Slow intention. Things arrive on skewers that have been coaxed rather than forced into deliciousness. The miso sea bass is the kind of dish that people describe by going quiet for a moment first. The cornflake shrimp is a thing that should not work as a concept and works completely as a reality. The daily special comes out in three parts, raw, robata, and more, and each part is a small argument for why you should be paying better attention to what you eat every day of your life. The sashimi sits in a case on ice near the kitchen and you can watch the chefs working with a calm precision that is genuinely meditative to observe, like a train system that runs on the exact second it is supposed to run, quiet and intentional and doing exactly what it is supposed to do without any drama about it. I sat at the sushi bar and ate things I will not fully describe because some experiences should be discovered and not spoiled. I thought about the ramen we found instead of the pizza we were looking for and decided that getting lost is sometimes the whole point.

The inside is tiny and there isn't even a proper "waiting" area. I've also tried coming here before, and there was also a long wait. I'm glad I decided to stick it out this time. We ordered the Wagyu sushi, Yakitori, Tonkotsu Miso Ramen, and the Tomato Ramen. The Wagyu sushi is torched right in front of you! The Wagyu was incredibly tender and the sauce was delicious. My only *nitpicky* critique is the rice was ever so slightly too moist, but that didn't stop me from inhaling the sushi. Next, the Yakitori was phenomenal. I've never had such tender chicken in my life. There was a nice layer of delicious sauce coating the skewer. Again, just a really nitpicky feedback I have was that I wish the Yakitori had the tiniest bit more char to it, but nevertheless was an incredible bite, and I'd 100% order again in a heartbeat. Onto the ramen - easily hands down one of the best ramen I've had in DFW. The broth is flavorful, and I love the noodles. I'm not sure if they're handmade from scratch, but they had the perfect thickness and chewiness. I also loved generous the portion of cha shu slices. Most other places only give you 1-2 thin slices, but that was not the case here. The pork was tender. The ajitama was solid too, although I prefer more of a soft-boiled egg. While the meat portion is more generous here, the tonkotsu didn't come with many vegetables. A lot of other ramen places I've been to will have corn, fried garlic, etc as default, but those are all additional cost add-ons here. The ramen was delicious without them though but just something to note. We also got the tomato ramen as it's the chef recommendation. The dish is very creative and the execution was great. Personally, I still prefer traditional ramens but it was certainly a nice culinary creation to try. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and would come here again. Just be aware there may be a wait, and because they're so busy, you do have to proactively flag down staff. However, the staff are still really nice despite all the tasks they're juggling at once.

Each person gets a bowl of their divinely delicious tempura sauce with a generous amount of shaved daikon (not even lying when i say this is my favorite tempura sauce i've had, i could've just drank it on its own) and a selection of salts, with each course given a recommendation of which salt to use. In terms of ambiance: frankly speaking, if it was just the counter service omakase, i'd say it would feel more stuffy and unapproachable. But there is a general seating area that is not counter service where you can order off the menu for sushi, robata, and a la carte options. No dress code enforced or recommended, so you can be dining with all sorts of patrons with different sizes of families and children. whether or not this is your jam, it's still an extremely accessible place to dine for anyone and everyone. Reservations were incredibly easy to make (tempura omakase only From Sunday thru Thursday). Service was really kind and attentive, my husband's water literally never went below half empty. The only thing to take service to the next level is if they cleaned/wiped your plate/gave you a new plate between each course. American toilet. Lol. That's neither here nor there, but the bathroom is very clean lol! They were also sweet enough to read my reservation note for the occasion for dining and gifted us a delicious strawberry mousse, accompanied with a surprise tableside matcha to end the meal. I'm already looking forward to try their kaiseki set meal next time, and know that this place is a top contender to take my friends or loved ones for special occasions. I can't speak much for their sushi, but I added on some robata and grill menu items to the omakase and they were fantastic. Highly recommend the maitake mushroom tempura add on to your course. If you order ebi sushi, they offer to take the head once you're done eating the sushi and either put it in a miso soup or fry it for you, which i thought was a wonderful option. Also, we got tempura anago, something I've never had anywhere else, served two different ways. That alone was enough to make this experience stand out. For an experience like I had tonight, I felt as if the restaurant should be more full. Maybe because it is tucked away behind the other chain restaurants in Addison that are a little easier to see. Don't hesitate if you see the price tag, I definitely think you get a great value for food, service, and experience. We were there for two hours and enjoyed it very much. Thank goodness i don't have to drive all the way to downtown Dallas to enjoy some delicious Japanese food without the headache and hassle of finding parking and an accessible reservation.
