    Great sushi!
    Mike S.

Great sushi and great service. We had several friends in town that wanted sushi and Uchi Dallas never disappoints. The evening was fun and everyone enjoyed all of the items that we sampled. Fresh, expertly prepared, and delicious. Our waiter was awesome, and even took an Air Drop of my son's Apple Notes sushi list for our order! They have a great drink menu and lots of sake too.

Incredibly fresh seafood plates here. I'm always so impressed by the plating. Each dish is a work of art! The tasting menu is convenient if you're not sure what to try or order. The server is always knowledgeable and can give great recommendations. I was expecting to not get full while eating here, but I actually did get full! Come during happy hour for some better deals!

The Standard uchi group dinner. The quality is always good, but gosh they really need to change up their menu for the big group events. It has gotten so repetitive that we have stopped scheduling dinners at uchi since we are so tired of the same meal over and over. Doesnt help that the dessert takes an extra 30 minutes to come out (sometimes longer)

Uchi in Dallas was outstanding. The sushi was excellent, and we focused mostly on sashimi, which was incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. The ham and eggs roll was something different we tried. It sounds unusual, but it was creative and really well executed. We sat at the bar so as expected service was attentive, and the overall experience lived up to the reputation. This is a must visit for sushi in Dallas.

I'm giving this a 4-star for ambiance, and knowledge by the server. The same was great but unfortunately the food didn't measure up to what I remembered months back the first time I tried this restaurant. I simply couldn't find the items we got that I liked last time. And the items we got except for one roll were par at best. I had brought friends here from Los Angeles and they too were less than impressed. We would have eaten more had we understood the menu better and had the first few things come out delicious. Sadly, for this reason I will not return. Just so many other restaurants to try or return to that was 5 star.

It's always a treat when we are able to visit Uchi. The menu is a bit overwhelming when deciding on what to order because there are so many unique items and not a lot of descriptions of what you're actually getting. Because of that, we tend to order the omakase (chef's choice) or somakase (waiter helps curate/select the items) and trust the restaurant to provide us with the most delicious foods. We have never had anything that we did not like/love. It's a must-try experience if you ever have an opportunity. Even the most basic nigiri sushi will have an unexpected ingredient/sauce/garnish that elevates it to something incredible. It's a very, very expensive meal but at least you'll never be disappointed with any of the food.

Great sushi. Awesome atmosphere. I loved our sushi chef! The dessert had cilantro ice on top which I was skeptical of but I enjoyed it.

We took a large group here for my wife's birthday and it was still as good as i remembered it was. Everything we had was really good and plated very nicely. I highly recommend Kinoko Rabe, nice flavor with burnt crispy rice at the bottom of the clay pot with perfectly cooked mushrooms. The atmosphere of the restaurant was second to none. Service for a 10 person table is usually slow but they had it down with extra assistance at all times. Nice job Uchi!

This is probably one of my favorite sushi spots The fish and ingredients were fresh. This place is the first time I tried an oyster which made me fall in love with them. Our server and the rest of the staff were also great!

Came here on friday evening for my anniversary. The place is warm feeling, with nice decor all around. Our server Zak was great, and gave us so many great recommendations. We ordered lots of food and a lot of it was great. Me and my gfs favorite was probably the eggplant nigiri; it exploded with flavor. However a couple of things went wrong. First, we were told through email that we would get $25 off if we reserved through a link from a past dinner experience we had with uchiko... we didn't. I also ordered a piece of uni which had a hair inside. As a young couple, i get nervous to tell management since they would probably think we'd lie, and my assumption is probably correct since nothing was done, just a sorry. It definitely killed the vibe of the dinner, but i must move on lol

I celebrated my anniversary at Uchi on a Saturday night and had an okay experience! My overall thought is that for a place where people spend $80+ a head, I expected more. The restaurant is beautiful and clean, though a bit loud. We were seated at a booth, and we loved how spacious it was. We were given a little card that said "Happy Anniversary", but that was all the celebratory gestures we received. We opted for ordering a handful of dishes from the vegetarian menu, as well as some sake. The sake was really excellent and tasted like honeydew. The two best dishes were the Uchi Salad and the Crispy Tofu roll. They were amazing. The other dishes ranged from good to meh. The fried green tomato katsu wasn't great - the tomato was really hard and kind of oaky. Service was extremely slow. We waited over FORTY MINUTES between receiving our brussels sprouts and the kinoko nabe, even though we ordered it ahead of time. This meal was a lot of waiting paired with pretty subpar service. Our server wasn't notably personable or warm. At the end of the night, we were given a $25 off voucher as an apology for the poor service and long wait times. The caveat is this voucher needs to be used this month, in the next ~2 weeks, which seems unlikely for me. At this price point, I would recommend you go elsewhere! Especially to celebrate a big milestone and moment, they fell short.

This place is a joke. We ordered Omakase for 2 persons, and they told us they serve it as a shareable plate, like 10 courses. The waiter couldn't tell us what the menu was, it is up to the chef, even it is up to the chef and it still has a menu but not here. We got one piece of fish fillet and shared it, about 2os per persons, lol. One nigiri sushi per person and the rice was sweet and loose, lol x 2. At the end of the night, they acted like a Michelin restaurant and gave us one "today's menu" and one Szechuan chill paste, remember this is Japanese or 2 persons, lol x 3? The serving between each plate is random, sometimes we waited 10 mins and sometimes 20 mins. At the end the bill was almost $400. We didn't get what we paid for, they charged Michelin price and the food quality, presentation and service is a joke. Highly not recommended. Ambience: 5/5, we are pretty sure we are paying for the rent Food:1/5 Price:0/5 Service: 1/5

My wife took me here to celebrate my birthday and it was "off the hook"!!! We sat at the sushi bar and the suggestions of fresh sashimi were spot on. So fresh that most just melted in your mouth. The service from both our waitress and chef were superb. Love the open kitchen design along with the bar. Really gives it more of an authentic Tokyo restaurant. Highly recommend the walu walu for a hot dish; isaki & kinmedai for sashimi; the negitoro for a roll. This place is nothing like a typical American style "sushi" restaurant it's a true Japanese sushi restaurant

I went to Japan recently. I want to start there because the Japan trip is directly relevant to this…read morereview in a way that will become clear shortly and also in a way that is deeply embarrassing and I have made peace with both of those things simultaneously. Japan was extraordinary. The food was extraordinary. The trains were extraordinary. The trains specifically deserve their own paragraph because I have never in my life encountered a public transportation system that operates with the precision and quiet dignity of the Japanese rail network. Trains that arrive at the exact second they are supposed to arrive. Trains that leave at the exact second they are supposed to leave. A whole society of people moving through stations the size of small cities with calm purpose and zero visible distress, consulting their phones, reading books, buying things from vending machines that should not logically exist inside a train station but do because Japan has decided that convenience is a human right and I agree completely. I tell you all of this to explain what happened at the train station when we tried to find pizza. Now I know what you are thinking. You went to Japan and you tried to find pizza. And yes. Yes we did. We had been eating spectacular Japanese food for several days running, food that made us question every culinary decision we had made in our entire lives up to that point, and then something happened in the group dynamic that can only be explained as a collective temporary insanity and somebody said what about pizza and instead of saying no we are in Japan and there is yakitori available within forty feet of us at all times, everybody said yeah okay pizza sounds good actually. The station we were in had approximately forty seven exits. I counted. Not all of them. I counted forty seven before I gave up counting and simply accepted that exits were infinite and directional signage was a suggestion. We had been told the pizza place was near exit B14. There was no exit B14. There was a B4 and a B41 and something that might have been B14 but was labeled in a way that required a level of kanji literacy I had not developed in the forty eight hours since landing. We walked for twenty two minutes. We passed the same Family Mart three times which I know because the same employee was stocking the same shelf each time and by the third pass he looked at us with an expression of gentle recognition and what I can only describe as compassionate pity. We never found the pizza place. We found a ramen shop instead and ate the best bowl of ramen of our collective lives and agreed to never speak of the pizza incident again except that I am speaking of it right now because it is directly relevant to the fact that when I came back to Dallas and needed Japanese food that did not require navigating a forty seven exit train station, I went to Tei Tei Robata Bar on Henderson Avenue and everything was immediately right with the world. Tei Tei has been on Henderson Avenue since the late nineties. Founder Teiichi Sakurai, who is also the man behind Tei An which if you have not been to Tei An please go immediately after reading this review and before doing anything else in your life, has been a James Beard semifinalist six times which is the kind of number that should be printed somewhere more prominently than it currently is, like on a highway billboard or possibly the side of a building. You walk in through a Japanese garden to get to the entrance. A Japanese garden. In Dallas. On Henderson Avenue. Between a taco place and a bar with a patio. I walked through it after the forty seven exit train station and my blood pressure dropped twelve points immediately and I have no medical evidence for this but I am confident it is true. Robata is the traditional Northern Japanese grill style. Wood charcoal. Low heat. Slow intention. Things arrive on skewers that have been coaxed rather than forced into deliciousness. The miso sea bass is the kind of dish that people describe by going quiet for a moment first. The cornflake shrimp is a thing that should not work as a concept and works completely as a reality. The daily special comes out in three parts, raw, robata, and more, and each part is a small argument for why you should be paying better attention to what you eat every day of your life. The sashimi sits in a case on ice near the kitchen and you can watch the chefs working with a calm precision that is genuinely meditative to observe, like a train system that runs on the exact second it is supposed to run, quiet and intentional and doing exactly what it is supposed to do without any drama about it. I sat at the sushi bar and ate things I will not fully describe because some experiences should be discovered and not spoiled. I thought about the ramen we found instead of the pizza we were looking for and decided that getting lost is sometimes the whole point.

The inside is tiny and there isn't even a proper "waiting" area. I've also tried coming here before, and there was also a long wait. I'm glad I decided to stick it out this time. We ordered the Wagyu sushi, Yakitori, Tonkotsu Miso Ramen, and the Tomato Ramen. The Wagyu sushi is torched right in front of you! The Wagyu was incredibly tender and the sauce was delicious. My only *nitpicky* critique is the rice was ever so slightly too moist, but that didn't stop me from inhaling the sushi. Next, the Yakitori was phenomenal. I've never had such tender chicken in my life. There was a nice layer of delicious sauce coating the skewer. Again, just a really nitpicky feedback I have was that I wish the Yakitori had the tiniest bit more char to it, but nevertheless was an incredible bite, and I'd 100% order again in a heartbeat. Onto the ramen - easily hands down one of the best ramen I've had in DFW. The broth is flavorful, and I love the noodles. I'm not sure if they're handmade from scratch, but they had the perfect thickness and chewiness. I also loved generous the portion of cha shu slices. Most other places only give you 1-2 thin slices, but that was not the case here. The pork was tender. The ajitama was solid too, although I prefer more of a soft-boiled egg. While the meat portion is more generous here, the tonkotsu didn't come with many vegetables. A lot of other ramen places I've been to will have corn, fried garlic, etc as default, but those are all additional cost add-ons here. The ramen was delicious without them though but just something to note. We also got the tomato ramen as it's the chef recommendation. The dish is very creative and the execution was great. Personally, I still prefer traditional ramens but it was certainly a nice culinary creation to try. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and would come here again. Just be aware there may be a wait, and because they're so busy, you do have to proactively flag down staff. However, the staff are still really nice despite all the tasks they're juggling at once.

However, I do recommend making a reservation because the restaurant is quite small with limited seating. After we were seated, our server went over the time limit, order limit, and house rules. She was friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout our meal. Lychee martini with tequila instead of vodka... yum! I've been to a lot of AYCE sushi places, and after today's visit, I think JingHe has moved to the top of my list. They even offer chu toro, although it's limited to four pieces per person. The rice to fish ratio was perf! The rice was cooked and seasoned beautifully, and the fish tasted fresh and was cut nicely. Oh, and ask for the pickled wasabi...SO GOOD! I'm still thinking about this meal. I will definitely be coming back! Food: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5

It literally melts in your mouth (I will say after the first round they started packing the nigiri's up with rice) I also liked the crispy tuna but it also had a lot of rice. The place has both indoor and outdoor seating and it was a bit dark inside but each table had its own light! Gives off a fancy feel for it being ayce and somewhat affordable (about $45 pp) The service was great! They bring you a paper to check off what you want each round and they come and check on you frequently! We booked the reservation for 7:30 but got there early and they still seated us! Would definitely come back if i was in town!

The panic roll wasn't our favorite, we could've definitely passed on that. We wanted something unique rather than a basic roll, so we chose this because it seemed fun plus we love spice! However, the roll just tasted like sauce. Not much going on. I personally like being able to taste the quality of the fish, but the sauce was a too much. Definitely recommend if you like saucy rolls though. Curry was a bit on the more liquid side. We're a bit use to more of a thickened consistency, but it was still good. The rice and curry ratio was a little bit off, much more sauce and meat than rice for sure. I got the poke bowl with both salmon and tuna. It was really refreshing! I loved the mango in it. Overall, a solid sushi restaurant. Definitely recommend the sashimi! Service was good, definitely took care of you. Ambiance was also nice. It was small, but bright especially with the patio seating. The bar looked nice too. It's a good place to grab a refreshing bite!

The itchy salmon was fantastic. The itchy sea bass was even better! And the attention to detail was EVERYTHING! To call Jacob charismatic is truly an understatement. He was kind, attentive, showing up with exactly what you need before you even know you need it. Literally chefs kiss. The service we were provided was absolutely beyond my expectations, the food was delicious and our drinks, whether hot sake or cold beer, were exactly on par every. single. time. And, again, showed up before you even needed to think to ask. I will absolutely be returning again, probably tomorrow, and always in the future to THIS location in uptown. 1000000/10 do recommend

VIBES The place is very spacious. Lots of seating from tables to higher tables, bar, and more. The decorations are like Japanese inspired coupled with modern and vintage elements (like the brick wall and Japanese arts). Super chill place and great for hanging out with large groups! SERVICE Service was pretty great overall! Food came out fast and nothing to complain about!
