All these years later I still think this is a great firm. They installed my a/c over 10 years ago, I have them come out for yearly maintenance, and I just had them install a new heater. SVS designed the HVAC for a new home build. It was complex with two structures. They were very good at communicating throughout the process of design and build, on time and schedule, and came in within the bid. Great service! They deserve more that 5 stars! I heard about SVS from Lupe (Ricks wife) and last year one of our friends had problems with their A/C so I referred them to SVS and they were happy with their quick response and service. Yesterday our A/C was not working, one of our hot days during our heat wave. We called SVS in the afternoon and Rick spoke with my husband to determine the issue. Rick told my husband that the part was easy to replace and my husband felt comfortable doing it. He told my husband what part he needed to buy and to take a picture so he knew where the wires go when he installed the new one (It was very helpful). It was already 3:30 in the afternoon so my husband rush to buy the part ($12) before the store closed at 4:30pm. He came home, installed it and our A/C was fixed. Happy customers!!! If you are looking for someone to redo your duct work or install a new heater and/or AC unit I highly recommend SVS. Their prices are competitive and their workmanship is outstanding. If you're looking for someone to maintenance/service your heater and/or AC after the installation SVS is horrible. The first time I called for service, the condensation pump went out, the technician canceled and rescheduled the appointment three times. Then he called and said someone had canceled their appointment and asked if I would be available in an hour? Awesome, I'm available. After he came and replaced the pump he presented me a bill for parts, labor and $100.00 travel surcharge. First off the previous company I used for service never charged a travel fee, secondly that's a substantial amount and he should have mentioned it before he came out. The second time I called them for service was because my AC suddenly stopped working. We are currently experiencing a heatwave and it's over 100 degrees. I called to schedule an appointment, they took all my info and said the service manager would call me ASAP. Well, this is the second day and I still haven't received a call. I ended up calling another company and they were able to fit me in this afternoon. Bottom line: Outstanding for initial installation. I cannot say enough about the excellent consultation service that I received from Jon Hurley and Rick Simoes. Long story short, I live in a three story condo. The HOA hired a roofing company that bent the connections to my HVAC, and brought in their HVAC vendor who supplied a quote for repair. I reached out to numerous HVAC companies to ensure that I was receiving a fair deal. One could not provide the service (Costco Vendor) another had terrible customer service and was terrible at answering my questions. Finally, I had the good luck to talk to a friend who had work done by SVS Home Comfort and highly recommended them. It was advice well taken! My first interaction was with Jon, who answered my initial questions over the phone and quickly set me up with an appointment. Jon was very timely and thorough and provided me with great options. Next came my onsite appointment with Rick Simoes, (President.) I cannot say enough about Rick's Professionalism and taking the time to explain in great detail all of the questions that I had for him to my satisfaction for myself assurance that I was making the right choices Vs repair or replace. I explained the situation and Rick was a great sounding board and consultant. He made two different on site visits up to my roof, and even allowed me to take a video of him explaining the damage done to my unit, (should I need that later.) I still have a decision to make on Repair or Replace, but Jon and Rick made the decision on who is getting the job very clear and easy. My A/C went out on Sunday, just ahead of a week-long heat wave. The manufacturer gave me several referrals and my first call was to SVS Home Comfort. Alex was helpful and friendly on the phone and got a tech to me the same day. The tech, Justin, was great, wore a mask and physically distanced throughout the service. He worked to diagnose the issue and get the part ordered. Unfortunately the supplier didn't have it on hand, but SVS got another tech out to me asap the morning after they got the part. The next tech, Tony, was also great. The best news was that due to an electrical issue in my basement, he got the condenser working again and didn't have to install the new part. He was friendly and efficient (masked & distanced) and didn't charge me for the service call. We contacted SVS to install a new furnace and a new air conditioning system. Rick Simoes the President came out and listened to our desires for a new HVAC system. Rick and his team took measurements and generated an analysis of our homes size and proposed a high quality system that would work for us. We have a two story home so the recommendation was to go with two systems - one for downstairs and one for upstairs so the air could be controlled for each part of the home based on needs. This included top of the line equipment such as a Bryant heater and air conditioner for downstairs as well as a Mitsubishi air conditioner for the upstairs. Rick's initial crew had to remove the old ducting. Once that was completed, Ronnie and Nick provided the expertise and experience at installing the new system. Ronnie and Nick were a wonderful team. They were professional, courteous, on time, and cleaned up every day. Ronnie's experience and knowledge was the cornerstone of the process. Ronnie understood the systems and was a magician in putting a very complicated system together. If you want the best installer, ask for Ronnie! It has been about 15 months since SVS manufactured and installed our custom gutters and down spouts. The night before the installation the house looked naked without gutters. Two words...AMAZING SERVICE. We got quotes from several companies to replace our old ducting and we decided to use SVS...and are we glad we did! Not only was their quote right in line with the others but they showed up on time, finished on time, didn't try and hit us with "change orders", and they involved us every step of the way including where to put the air returns, new boots and moving the heater to the attic (this was a GREAT idea). I also really appreciated Rick's (owner) and Jonathan's (foreman) professionalism and communication style. One last thing, the heater we already had was about 8 years old but is in excellent condition and has plenty of life left. SVS never even tried to sell us on a new heater! Takes advantage of seniors and finds a way to get away with it. This company installed a unit that failed in 48 hours and claimed, ' It Happens! ' If you want the job done right then take your business elsewhere. FYI - The owner Rick seems to play nice until he is contradicted. Then and only then, do you see the real Rick go from polite to rude and nasty. By the way, do you know this man had the nerve to say, give me your other contract to install the heating and air and I will guarantee the first job. NOTE: ANY job done by ANY contractor should be guaranteed for at least a year and this job was not even guaranteed for 48 hours. Actually via telephone, he even stated he does not guarantee any job(s) his company does. It's amazing how our conversation ended; he stated, if you 'really' want it fixed then, you need to pay me more money. Why should we pay more for something that was suppose to work in the first place? Poor judgment on my part for recommending this company to my parents. If you must know, I was recommended by someone at another company (who AAA uses) and thought the recommendation was legit. WHAT A MISTAKE....WAS I WRONG! Also, if you must also know, the seniors involved have serious medical issues and RICK did not care the air conditioner he supposedly fixed did not work. What kind of person lets a senior sit in 101 degree weather after they paid him their hard earned money to fix their air conditioner. * I would give this company ZERO stars but, that's not an option I can choose. Our furnace died during the coldest week of winter and I wasn't about to let a contractor take advantage of the situation as someone did with our water heater replacement. After contacting six contractors for bids, one who showed up two hours late and another who still hasn't responded, we opted for Silicon Valley Sheetmetal because they gave a thorough quote, were closest to the lowest bid and were recommended by a friend in the construction industry. We couldn't be happier. They provided quotes on exactly what we asked for, offered alternatives, surprised us with an upgraded filter system and installed the hyper cool WiFi operated thermostat I bought online at no extra charge. Even when a piece of the air conditioner broke during installation, the owner Rick promised to take care of repairing it, parts and labor at no extra charge (how many contractors would say it was already like that or blame it on the original installer?) They left the garage cleaner than they found it :) We paid exactly what they quoted. The city inspector just came by to approve the installation a couple hours ago. He was impressed with their work. I would never have thought of hiring a company called "Silicon Valley Sheetmetal" to install our furnace had a friend not recommended them. I figured they did mainly new installations or rain gutters. Nor was I too impressed that yelp only have one review. I always thought that when people aren't too thrilled they simply don't post anything. These people are a well-kept secret among those who work in construction and know how good they are. There isn't enough that can said about SVS. We had SVS install a new A/C and heater in our home recently. Because it was going to be a big job, and not knowing what was available to us when it came to choosing which A/C and heater to have installed, Rick took the time to meet with my wife and I and lay out all our options. Not only did my wife and I pick Ricks brain for over an hour and a half, I truly believe Rick would have stayed another hour and a half because he wanted to make sure we felt comfortable with the decision we finally ended up making. Oh, and just to add, this wasn't his first visit. We had Rick come out a couple times because we had even more questions. Never, NOT ONCE, did we feel rushed into anything with Rick. He is as honest as they come. Seriously! Sure, there were other bids that we got where they came in cheaper, but the level of detail, and attention to detail when it came to installing our equipment, I knew the others would not compare. I have to mention Justin and Kerin (forgive my spelling). These guys are amazing! They are two of the hardest working people I have met. They never stopped working except for when they had lunch, but even then, it was never a full hour. I literally would stop them and offer them a drink or something because they were always on the move. 8) They were extremely respectful of the rest of the house and cleaned up each day when they were done. If I had a question or concern, they would answer me with no hesitation. Always a smile on their faces. They take pride in their work and made it clear that if I felt something was wrong, to bring it to their attention. After very high electricity bills recently, we decided it was time to update our HVAC system. After doing my own research, I called SVS and several other firms. In speaking with co-owner Rick, who provided great advice on cost effective solutions, we decided to not only repair the leaky ductwork but also improve it. Of all the firms, only SVS took the time to take detailed measurements to determine how to most effectively enhance the system in order to improve the issue of uneven temperatures throughout the house. This included enlarging the return, increasing the size of some vents, as well as adding additional ones. To a person, the SVS team was professional, polite and meticulously detailed. Every day, they made sure floors were covered before starting and then swept before leaving. They provided updates daily on the work progress, so that we understood how unexpected issues were effecting timelines. Since completion of the project, we have been extremely happy with the results. Our house is much more comfortable and the system is also far quitter. Most importantly, after receiving our first full month electricity bill, we have seen a 50% decrease over this time last year. However, today I called to see if they could come look at the furnace at my new house which isn't working correctly. With no explanation, I was told they are unable to do maintenance at this time. I was not asked if I was an existing customer or anything, just "sorry we don't do that, bye." Maybe they should update their website so what they offer matches what they actually do. read more

I was impressed with the professionalism at SVS and the quality of their work. The next time I have HVAC issues they will be the first firm I call. I would recommend them without hesitation. I also worked with a bad HVAC firm and a mediocre one. Lesson learned -- choose carefully! Selecting a good HVAC installer is more important than selecting a manufacturer (Carrier, Trane, Bryant, etc) according to Consumer Reports. My story: the blower motor on my 7-year old furnace died. I suspect that the root cause was the installation: contractors who saw my HVAC system commented that it was probably oversized for our house (imagine a jet engine pulling air through a drinking straw). Aside from being oversized, the installation had other problems: water would collect in the flue pipe because it had a low point between the furnace and the outlet. Another firm came out to diagnose and fix the furnace. Over the course of weeks and multiple visits the furnace was still not completely fixed -- it would blow continuously whether the heat was on or not. That's when I called SVS. Jonathan came out, did some tests, and realized that the other firm had misdiagnosed the problem. I knew he was right when the other firm's recommended fix didn't work. Finally I had the old furnace replaced with a new unit. I had SVS do the installation since they had already outperformed the last two HVAC firms I had worked with. The installation exceeded my expectations. I got a smaller unit as recommended by SVS -- it's quieter and heats just as well as my last unit. The flue installation is much better than the last -- no more condensation issues in the flue pipe. read more

SVS cost estimate for HVAC system was the lowest of three received for a whole house remodel project. They ensured we had heat in winter and AC in summer while year-long remodel was underway. We decided to reuse our furnace equipment purchased in 2004. No problem for SVS. They made it better than before. I was thrilled with the service I got. They installed gutters and air conditioning. With each job, one of the partners came and personally did the estimate. The dates were set and they were there ready to work when they were expected. This has not always be the case with some contractors I have used for other jobs. There employees are friendly (without chewing off your ear), courteous and hard working. They treated my house like it was their own. There was no sign of a mess when they left (also a pleasant surprise from some previous experiences). We recently decided to install AC in our home. We had several bids and were told contradicting info each and every time. After getting one last recommendation to SVS, we decided to get just one more opinion. And I'm glad we did. Rick came out and spent over an hour with us evaluating, measuring, discussing, etc and telling us all of the ins/outs of our options. He gave us a realistic timeline (given the high summer demands), a realistic price (i.e. this is your price, I don't foresee any additional issues when we come onsite to do the work), and realistic expectations (if you choose an 80% single stage vs 96% 2 stage). Their bid was in line with competition and I chosen them mostly because Rick made a really good presentation of SVS. After I moved in, AC didn't cool the house nearly as fast as I expected from a new expensive high end system.
