Fiiiiiiire chicken wow, waffles too. Had a craving and this place absolutely satisfied it. Got the Maple Chipotle Chicken with Vanilla Glaze Waffles. WHAT A COMBO. The Maple Chipotle was insanely good and the chicken was still super crispy despite being sauced up.

The food was amazing, chicken was flavorful, and tender. My waffles were made to perfection and with the added vanilla glaze I didn't even need syrup! The music brought a good vibe to the atmosphere. All the staff was very kind and welcoming. The manager even turned off the heat because we were right by the kitchen and it was burning up. But that just showed how accommodating they were and it was very appreciated. I definitely recommend the chicken and waffles with the vanilla glaze if you ever try!
I had never been to a Sweet Chick before but had heard great things about their other locations. I realized there was one nearby and decided to give it a try. The space was open, inviting, and super cute. The food -- especially the chicken -- was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the waffles had that perfect crunch. I also ordered a cocktail I believe Queen of NY, which was strong and delicious, though I wish it had been a little less sweet. My partner and I came here for brunch, and the only downside was that they didn't offer coffee -- a bit surprising for a brunch spot. That said, the service was fast and attentive, which made for an overall great experience.
What a delicious meal! My partner took me here as I've never had Sweet Chick and now I can't get enough of it! The environment and the staff were so friendly and welcome. Although I didn't get the name of the server who helped us, he had really great energy and was very warm to all the customers there. My favorite dish that night was actually their crispy Brussels sprouts. I didn't know they could taste that good and I kept eating them. The chicken was perfect - no comments. The butters were fun! I really liked their berry butter. I got my waffles with the apple cinnamon and while it was good, I don't think it showed up as much and maybe wasn't really needed. All in all this was a great meal and now if I want chicken and waffles, I know where to go.
It was soooo good! Wasn't a big fan of the waffles but EVERYTHING ELSE HIT! The bozzy lemonade was def hitting too. Service was amazing as well.
No matter which location I visit, sweet chick absolutely never ever fails. The last time I went , I ordered the jalapeno cheddar hush puppies. Which were nice crispy savory and spicy. Very flavorful , with the cheddar contrasting the jalapeño. For my aunt ray I decided to have the apple cinnamon waffles with the chipotle chicken. This meal was not only filling but also mesmerizing and wonderfully done. The contrast between the apple cinnamon waffle and the chipotle chicken gave a very sweet vs. heat competition that I absolutely love. I love sweet chick happy and absolutely full as per usual and I will always support some sweet chick.
I've been wanting to come here for soooooooo long and I'm so happy I finally did!!! The chicken and waffles were so good. Chicken was crispy, waffles were crispy. Even better with the maple syrup on top Loaded fries are also always a good idea and I loved the bacon and jalapeño on it Will deff be back!!
Have you ever gone been the one to suggest a place, and then it falls through? That's what happened here. We had the option to go here or to a different restaurant and because I've been here a few times before (but not enough to be considered a regular) I suggested we come here. I checked to see if there was a way to make resys, and that wasn't an option that I noticed, so we just went as walk-ins. It was a Wednesday and about 6pm. When we walked in, I noticed there were people sitting to the side waiting to be seated, but they had a larger party they were waiting for. The back area was empty, and a few tables were empty up front, but the bar was pretty full. We walked in and waited a few minutes , and eventually, we were acknowledged by the bartender who said our table would be ready shortly. While waiting, some regulars walked in and seated themselves in the back and at the bar, notifying the bartender of where they were going. Maybe their party was there so I was minding my business. Although a few tables were already cleaned and set up, we we told to wait for one being cleaned from guests who just left, but no problem. We were told to go sit in the table just wiped down, and I was given some menus and informed water would be brought over. Guests for two other tables came in and were seated pretty quickly, and the person tending the bar came over to bring them water and take their orders as well. Now, with it being allergy season, and although I carry around a bottle of water in case I get choked up, I ran out. So I felt a coughing fit coming on, and since we still hadn't received any water or service at all at this point, I got up and went to the bar to ask for some water. The bartender who stated we were going to get water 2 tables and 15-20 mins ago stops me on my way up there and basically reprimands me saying "sit 'sweetie' I got you! " I'm trying to explain to him how I actually needed water then, and he's telling me that he's coming as if it was just my not being patient. I could have said something more or ignored him and got water anyway but I wanted to see how this played out so I went back to the table and sat and waited and started coughing as I knew would happen and he eventually came over after chatting with some friends or locals that came in and another table. Finally, he comes over to bring our table a bottle of water. At that point, he then he took our order. We informed him that at this juncture the dessert (slice of cake) that we were ordering we wanted packed up to go, because we knew our timing and he proceeded to tell us we can take our time and chill and have it afterwards.... Fast forward, we get our food after a while. And we have no utensils. Yes, we have chicken for a portion of the meal, but we also had food that needed forks... At no point did our server come to check on us to find out if we were good or if anything was needed when our food was delivered. He did enjoy the camaraderie of the regulars who stopped by and those who seemed to be friends. In no way would I ever say or suggest to ignore those who are your regulars because that's how you keep them, but also don't ignore those who you think are new or you just don't notice because that prevents them from returning. We were able to get another servers attention and asked for to go boxes and then adked for the check. We basically were seated to get our food to go. One star is for the other server who came up to assist, (female, pretty brown- skin, pony tail, average height and nice demeanor) and another star for the person bringing out dishes and running back and forth seemingly bringing dishes from storage (male, latino, braids, about 5'3, -5'5 very polite). This really took away from my previous experiences there, and I doubt I'd plan to return anytime in the near future.
Chicken was unseasoned and raw. The service was okay. I swear she tipped herself 20% but it was whatever because we were the last ones there but now that we're getting home and seeing this raw poultry it's honestly disgusting and disappointing. The ambiance was nice tho ig.
I went here with my friend a few weeks ago and we absolutely loved the food! The service was great & ambiance was laid back.
A bit disappointed in this place as it was actually on my list of food spots to try when coming to New York. It's in a pretty busy area at night with bustling nightlife and lots of other food options. The interior is cute and intimate, and the music was on point. My husband and I ordered two salads, a 10 piece wings and a three-piece, tender, and fry to go. After ordering, we went and walked around the area a bit, then came back and sat and waited for our food while waiting we noticed that the restaurant really started to pick up at the bar and table seating after 30 minutes. I asked the bartender about our food, but she said he would check When he came back. He had our food. I'm thinking it was sitting there for a while since we only had two salads, some wings, and a few tenders. I do feel the service could've been better, especially seeing as I actually tipped for that to go, which was something new I'm trying out that doesn't seem to be going well when getting back to our hotel and trying it, we were not fans at all of the maple chipotle wings. They were bland and really just not that good. My sesame ginger salad could have been better if it had more dressing that came with it. My husband's Caesar salad was good. My sister's tenders and fries were okay. She said she liked the tenders, but not so much the fries. I would not return to this restaurant.
They have the best chicken and waffles that I have ever tasted and I love the fact that there are different flavor options for the waffles. We went here right after brunch ended and were seated right away. There was a minimal selection from a menu called in-between which consisted of chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, salad, and Mac an cheese. I had the Mac n cheese for the first time and very pleased. The service was very good and though there were different service employees stopping at our table I was happy with the way they served us. I don't get the hype around this place. The waffles are good, the chicken is very okay. We started with the crawfish hush puppies and this was the best dish we had there. I liked the remoulade sauce which, I think, had jalapenos in it. It had an added layer of spiciness than other versions of this sauce that I've had elsewhere. For my main, I got "The General" chicken and waffles. The broccoli waffles were pretty good- just slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was an interesting mix with the broccoli and despite my dislike of having veggies with any food that's meant for breakfast, this wasn't bad. I didn't like the general tso's sauce. It didn't have enough kick to it and tasted out of balance. The two pieces of chicken that came with it was one drumstick and half a breast. The breast piece was dry and the sauce didn't go well with the fried chicken. My wife got the classic chicken and waffles with mushroom waffles. Her two pieces of chicken consisted of a wing and a thigh. The Classic was a better dish than The General but I didn't find anything special about the fried chicken. The flavor was okay, the crunch was good but it's all pretty standard. The mushroom waffles were great. The service, for the most part, was good and our waitress genuinely seemed interested in what I had to say about The General. For once, I spoke my mind and told her what I thought about it instead of just smiling and politely saying "good". I hope she relayed our thoughts to the kitchen. Overall, it's a decent place and they offer many varieties of chicken & waffles if that's your thing. However, if I just wanted an unadulterated version of a chicken & waffle dish then I think Clinton St. Bakery's version is better and if I just wanted to satisfy a fried chicken craving, then this place wouldn't do it for me given the portion sizes. We originally planned to get tacos, but the wait at Mission Cantina was over an hour. Luckily, there was no wait at all for a party of 5 at around 8pm at Sweet Chick. More of a brunch place, I suppose? They were reluctant to squeeze together three tables for the 5 of us, but relented since several tables remained open for at least another half hour. Other than a long wait for our food to come out (snafu about whether we wanted all the food to come out together or whenever the dish was ready), the service was pretty "sweet." ha. The cocktails, on the other hand, weren't very sweet and you could definitely taste the alcohol. We ordered a few sides: mac and cheese(eeee?), kale BLT salad, and crawfish hush puppies. They were all very good, but the true stars were the waffles. Not the chicken and waffles, but just the waffles. We tried two specials: the Hawaiian and the Korean half-chicken with kimchi waffles (slightly more expensive at $24). The chicken was fine, and the marinade for the grilled half-chicken was slightly sweet and pretty delicious, but a lot of it was burnt and dry. The waffles were impressively good, on the other hand...light, airy, everything you want in a waffle. They came with three interestingly flavored butters, but they weren't even needed. Don't be concerned about any spice or sour for the kimchi waffle--even though there are actual chunks of kimchi embedded in the waffle, somehow the flavoring was still extremely light. I would've actually preferred a slightly stronger kimchi taste. Hawaiian was okay. We also ordered the strip steak, but I was pretty indifferent to that. read more

Hands down a fun and hip brunch location. I saw some eye candy on the menu, behind the bar, at the bar, serving, and on the plate. This place is trendy without feeling exclusive and too hip. Everything being served to fellow patrons looked delicious.. but I got the crowning jewel. .. shrimp and grits! So delicious you can't stop eating. .. which is the definition of a guilty pleasure... but grits are good for the soul, so sorry not sorry. The grits were swimming in gravy with so many pieces of jumbo shrimp I did a little dance. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming and you leave walking on cloud nine. read more
When chicken meets waffle, something magical happens! At Sweet Chicks, the chicken and waffle brunch, was simply magic! One of the best I have every had, and I will probably be back time and time again to get my chicken and waffle fix! For $16, you get to indulge in your choice of waffle and 2 pc of fried chicken. I highly recommend the spiced pecan waffle, which was so light, and had the perfect crunch of walnuts. The fried chicken was seasoned well, substantial in size, meat was very moist and skin was fried just enough to give you a heart attack. However, after the 1 piece, I wished I had some hot sauce for the 2nd piece, just to add some pop to the flavor. Sweet Chicks knows how to butter me up! Because the coolest part of the brunch was the butter! 3 types of butter (lemon, berry and herb) was presented prior to main course. Whatever happened to just regular butter haha I liked the berry butter the best! Highly recommend Sweet Chicks, especially for weekday brunch when the wait is significantly shorter. read more

I went to Sweet Chick with my boyfriend on Sunday around 1: 15 pm. As usual all the brunch places were packed with people, so.we decided to try this restaurant. I ordered Egg Bennys and I couldn't finish hash brown cuz the portion was so generous. I loved rich and soft biscuit, instead of English muffin which you usually get from other places. The chicken was seasoned well and loved the little cubed ham as it gave different texture and flavor. My boyfriend had pancakes and home cured bacon. The pancakes were nice but I think bacon was better. I like the casual and friendly ambiance, and service was prompt and attentive. Highly recommend this place! read more

Southern boy coming to the Big Apple and trying a southern food restaurant.. Sounds kind of pointless huh? It was a recommendation from a NY friend and so we made out way down to the lower east side to check it out. Its a fairly small restaurant. The design is set up to really try to capture the southern stereotypes of picnic tables, mason jars and other stuff. They were definitely missing the southern hospitality vibe, but hey, it's in NY, I can't expect them to maintain that trait. They played hip hop overhead and the playlist was great. Kanye to Chance to Outkast to Talib. In the back they had a large chalkboard with either daily or weekly specials. I couldn't hear my waiter when he told me because i wasn't paying attention. This would be a good date night restaurant as later in the evening the lights get dimmed. The menu had a variety of southern style foods. I had to try to the fried chicken. It's only right. I ordered the 3 piece bucket and substituted greens. The chicken was flavorful and moist. The greens were good. Not the best, but I'd order them again. I don't think they cook them with pork or a ham hock. Yes, lots of things in the south use some sort of pork for flavor purposes. And these greens had cranberries in them. That was different to me. I ordered the Sweet Chick drink, because of the namesake. It was definitely more tart than sweet. I was expecting a sweeter drink, hence the name. Despite the missed expectation it was still good. It was a restaurant and atmosphere. I would definitely recommend anyone to check it out. read more

I love a place with weekday brunch so I was excited to try Sweet Chick. I got the mushroom biscuits and gravy and it was delicious! It got a little bit too salty for me towards the end but was still a great dish nonetheless. The biscuits were soft and buttery, the gravy wasn't too thick or thin, and the mushrooms were cooked very well. My friend got the chili and I absolutely LOVED the chips that it came with. They were perfectly sized and crispy. The setting is cute and rustic with a good amount of natural light. Will be coming back to try the other dishes! read more

If you want to stray away from the traditional egg brunch dishes, Sweet Chick is a great alternative. On a weekday, the restaurant was pretty empty and I was seated immediately. The boozy drinks (~$10-12) are meant to be customizable since they let you choose which booze to add. The waiter was really friendly and patient with us when we were deciding on which drink to order. It's served in a small mason jar, so it's a pretty decently sized drink. But I honestly could have done without the drink. I ended up getting a Peach Iced Tea with vodka ($10). They're not cheap on the booze, so I definitely tasted the vodka. Personally, I needed the peach iced tea to be sweeter because it was really light in flavor. I actually think I would have preferred it without the vodka. My friend got a Tequila Lemonade ($12), which she really liked. My friends and I all ordered the traditional chicken and waffle dish ($17). I was really upset to learn that during the weekdays, the waffles only come in one flavor, classic. So if you're itching for some untraditional waffle flavors, go on the weekends!!! But I was impressed by how much I ended up liking the classic waffles. They were really fluffy and the addition of powdered sugar added a nice sweetness to it. I just wished there was a way to keep the waffles warmer, but they were still good cold. Try it with the herb butter! I thought that flavor tasted the best with the chicken and waffles. As for the chicken, it was crispy and tender! Thankfully, they serve dark meat (1 thigh and 1 wing), which meant the meat wasn't dry. I don't think it's the juiciest fried chicken I've had, but it's still good. The worst part of the meal was deciding what my next bite was going to be, the chicken or the waffles? Overall, it was a really delicious and filling meal. I'd definitely recommend Sweet Chick and would even make the time to come check it out on the weekend for those flavored waffles! read more

Without a doubt the best chicken and waffles I have ever had! I dig the place, went around the time brunch was ending, maybe 3ish on a Saturday. It wasn't as crowded as it usually is, based on other reviews probably because of the time. My sister and I had the special chicken and waffles at the time, Sriracha Peach glazed fried chicken. The waiter kindly allowed us to change the waffles from the ones that are supposed to be with the dish to cherry waffles. We also got a pork hash and two drinks, bourbon lemonade and vodka spiked iced tea. The pork hash was great, unlike most places, it was packed with many chunks of pork, definitely would satisfy a meat and potatoes lover. The drinks were pretty decent, a little more boozy than I expected, but hey I'm not complaining. The sriracha peach chicken with cherry waffles was however the star of the table. Every bite was packed with flavor, and I loved it. I love the selection of three butters they bring to the table, giving the perfect touch to each bite. Loved the place and will be back for more chicken and waffles! read more
DENZYL BACK AT IT AGAIN WITH ANOTHER BRUNCH REVIEW!?!?! Actually no because if you know me, if the place doesn't have bottomless brunch then its just breakfast. Wait wait my fellow brunch gawds! Don't turn your face so fast. just because this place doesn't contain the 2 hour endless nectar doesn't mean its a snub. Sweet chick definitely gives a homey vibe when walking in. Very comfortable and cozy atmosphere. When we walked in the place was filled with the sounds of conversation and light music. By the time we were wrapping up our meals around 3pm, somebody said to themselves "lets get this party started" and the music cranked up. Service was kind and helpful. They were able to help us through the menu and accommodated special needs for the table such as blessing those who wanted to order chicken & waffles hold the waffles. The food was a bit of a disappointment, but wasn't anything bad. It just wasn't what my taste buds were looking for at the time. I was between the Chicken & Waffles and the Shrimp & Grits meal. I asked the waiter which one he preferred and he quickly advised on the shrimp & grits stating that it was his favorite on the menu. If you're like me, no matter what you were originally craving, if the waiter suggests something, everything else goes out the window. The Shrimp & Grits came out and looked beautiful to the eyes, but fell short on the taste buds. I was expecting the dish to pack a bigger punch of flavor, but it wasn't what I expected. I would've definitely preferred some more spice, and honestly the hot sauce that they provided didn't help enough to overcome that. Obviously, the waiter and I could never play doubles tennis together because we are simply not on the same page. Sweet chick is a decent spot for a calm breakfast. Next time I go to a place known for their chicken & waffles, nobody will sway me. read more
Took my friend here for her birthday and we had such an amazing time and the food was so delicious. The vibe of the restaurant is very nice and calming because of the dimmed lights, and our server was incredibly friendly and even gave us recommendations! Definitely will be going back. read more

I was super curious about how this location would fare. Could a great idea like this thrive in the competitive and flaky food universe of the Lower East Side? The answer seems to be: yes. Pros: They are super generous with portions. Seriously. If you are here with one other person for non-brunch or brunch fare, definitely consider splitting one dish and ordering their sides. The chicken and waffles as well as the bucket of chicken will net you quite a bit of food. Their waffles are on point. There is some sort of magic that goes into their waffles. Great texture, fluffy in all the appropriate places, with a slight crunch and lots of taste. Bonus: their flavored butters are addictive. They serve French Press coffee. This is great for brunch if you are a serious caffeine lover. Their homefries are so yummy. While I am a meat-eater, I have tried their veggie chicken (as a bucket) and it was awesome. This is a plus for vegetarians. Cons: It can get really crowded on weekends. For some inexplicable reason they don't allow you to call in an order for pick-up. Odd. The regular fried chicken has great texture but doesn't wow when it comes to the batter. However, the other types of fried chicken are far tastier. This is strange because I would assume most new patrons would default to the regular chicken and waffles. All in all, a solid food choice. Roll out the red carpet for their CHICKEN AND WAFFLES. The waffles offer the perfect sweetness to compliment the crunchy and soft hint of cayenne spices offered by their fried chicken. The waffles are so good that it doesn't even need the three butters offered alongside this dish. In addition their BISCUIT smothered in a sausage gravy is to die for. Don't be fooled into thinking that the biscuit is not big enough to share because three people could easily share this piece of heaven. Oh and don't forget their SHOE STRING FRIES, we ordered one side dish and it was gone in less than 15 minutes. Next up their highly praised SHRIMP AND GRITS is a medley of all thats good in the world. You can taste the shrimp, cheese, peppers and soulfulness in every fork full. All that was missing was a big piece of bread so that you can finish sopping up the broth. Unlike the chicken and waffles, this plate doesn't leave you so full that you can barely walk out. It is satisfying, filling and memorable. The drinks offered such as the SPIKED BLUEBERRY LEMONADE and their WINE SPRITZER are delicious but do not offer that buzz. I would definitely skip the alcohol next time. The AMBIANCE is New York meets Georgia. The pictures of farm life, door panels decorating the walls, tools taking the place of door handles and chairs is charming and rustic. The music is hip, cool and just right to spend a few hours here. However, be warned, the restrooms are tiny and not the most modern and cleanest. Small luxury to give up in exchange for everything else. This restaurant is good for small groups of people and really behaved kids. The ambiance is too chill for heavy activity such as kids running around or more than 5 people. Oh and parents: THERE IS NO KIDS MENU. Luckily, what kid doesn't like french fries or fried chicken. The SERVICE is surprisingly not the fastest, at all. Another luxury one can kindly overlook in exchange for everything else. But the managers and owners walking around should really make it a point to interact with their patrons, especially when there are only 4-5 tables. I have been to busier and more expensive restaurants where the food wasn't the best but the fact that the owner or manager said hello, smiled and interacted with us, made our experience more memorable and eventually led us back there. So be patient fellow yelpers and don't take it personal, the food is that good. read more

Must have chicken and waffles! Crunchy skin and juicy chicken. They were a little on the small size but that's what you get for quality right? The waffles came with different flavor butters- lemon, berry, rosemary and regular. My favorite was the lemon! It was like eating sweet and salty together. The perfect combo. The place was nicely decorated but the music was a bit tooo loud. I could barely hear my friends who were right next to me. Other than that.. I would definitely come back! read more

Just got done eating at the Ludlow location on this beautiful Saturday morning with my boyfriend and his brother. Upon arrival there was a 10 minute wait which wasn't bad at all- probably because we really wanted to give this place a try. The wait staff are really nice and super cool. The hostess was really nice and ensured us that we would be seated soon. The decor in here is really cute and cozy. Anywhoo onto the food!!!! AMAZING! I had the steak and eggs, which was really tasty. My boyfriend the chicken and waffles= amazing! And the shrimp and grits the best he's ever had (I definitely had a bite and nearly passed out! Great brunch spot! Will be returning soon! read more

I hate give it 3 stars but I've definitely had better chicken with my waffle. The chicken is super crispy and heavy breaded which I don't mind but it was needing much more seasoning/flavor! Some seasoning would make the fried chicken amazing! Also, I which they let a bit of the oil get soaked out before plating because I had a little puddle of oil underneath that's a bit unappetizing (I'm already feeling the guilt for eating unhealthy! Don't remind me haha). Their waffle was super light and airy if you like that. I prefer my waffle with just a little more weight to it. Their seemed a little more eggy which I was underwhelmed with. Their biscuit and sausage gravy was my favorite for sure! Must try if you're a biscuit and gravy kinda person! My friend got the steak and eggs which she said was cooked perfectly medium per her request. It was topped with a bit of sauce that was peppery and super tangy which she wasn't crazy about (shes personally not a fan of tangy savory food in general). The potatoes it came with were pretty good though. The service and waiters were wonderful! Super nice and helpful! read more
The food is impeccable here. I had a reservation for 2 at 6:00PM - we arrived a few minutes earlier, but the waitress let us sit down. Luckily, we ordered beer during its happy hour (I'm not sure when it ends), so we got them for $3 each! They serve different types of butter - definitely try all of them. I remember the lemon and rasberry (or blueberry?? some kind of fruit) one. I got the special of the day - jalepeno cornbread. My company and I both agreed that it was the best cornbread we've ever had. It literally had pieces of corn in it. Yummy! Definitely add the butter to it. We got the mac & cheese - also very good. Very filling. I got the chicken & waffles of course - they have different types in the restaurant. My company got the buffalo chicken. I got some sort of spicy honey one..They were both very good. The food was just ok, considering that this is NYC and there's great food all over. The bartender was great but the greeter was overwhelmed with seating and almost skipped us entirely. Overall not great but not bad either. Meh. read more

I really like everything about this spot from the food to the service. We had a lil bit of everything. The biscuits and gravy is a must! The chicken and waffles were delicious and definitely have to try the thick cut glazed bacon and ricotta pancakes. read more

3.5 stars I ordered the original chicken and waffles (only one offered on the brunch menu), it was good but not really worth the price. My friend and I both agree that it's probably something that can be easily reproduced at home. Perhaps the ones on the dinner menu would have been a better choice. The chicken and waffles were amazing. The breading of the chicken was a tad salty, but had a delightful crunch with each bite. The waffles were delicious. Went around 10 p.m. lighting was dim.You order through the QR code on the table or at the register. Music was loud, couldn't really have a conversation. read more
