Super friendly guy working! We were playing tourists in town and decided to stop here for dessert & it does not disappoint! We came at a perfect time with no one else there. The guy working was super helpful and told us everything he had in the store. By the time we decided what we wanted, a line started forming! Good timing for us!! He didn't rush us and answered our questions nicely! We got a few different things & sat outside to have a break and try our goodies. He even game out later with a little sliver of the berry cake for us to try! So nice and the cake was soft and yummy!!! My lemon bar was tart & tangy as well. I tried my lemon white chocolate cake slice ($13) when I got home & it's amazing!! I love me a good lemon treat, I also got the lemon bar($6). Soo many flavor options! Updated review 5/5/2026 : While back in town I decided to give it another go and was pleasantly delighted once my order came to the door. Not only did I have exceptional customer service through my online delivery when they were out of stock of a certain cookie, but everything was delicious. I love the luxe packaging, it helps me to know that I can give these as gifts or send them to a potluck occasion. This time, I ordered the Oreo cupcake, chocolate chip cookie (which was replaced by a plain Jane since they were out) a mini sea salt brownie and a gluten-free vanilla cupcake. The texture of the icing on the cupcakes were perfect, not too fluffy and not too dense and had distinct flavors which I love. The plain Jane cookie was so tasty I wish I had ordered five more ! And lastly the sea salt brownie was everything a brownie lover could ask for, chocolatey, chewy and rich with the perfect balance of sweetness with the sea salt topping. I don't have a photo of their Triple Berry Cake, my phone failed on me, but get that first. Sweet Lady Jane is an amazing bakery. They even deliver and pretty late. There is nothing that is not great there, I mean hand made, never too sweet, hand crafted and beautiful. The place is so pretty inside. They have cakes, cookies, and cupcakes lined up for you. They make the best wedding cakes and anniversary cakes, we had an anniversary cake made there. It is a comfortable place to be and there is just nothing not to like. Their service is great. They get to you straight away and they are just so nice. They spend the time you need to get all the stuff you want. You can call ahead for an appointment for wedding cakes. Really old, stale and flavorless cookies. The service was not very welcoming or particularly helpful. For example, perhaps letting us know that the cookies we were ordering were old and falling apart. I've added a photo of the Father's Day sugar cookie we had. Okay, so for any other Sweet Lady Jane this would be a 5 star review, because their triple berry cake is amazing. It might not be as good as it once was with the original owners, but at least it still exists. It just seems maybe it's gotten a little too sweet the last few years. If you found it's too sweet for you, maybe check out the triple berry at Cake Monkey. Anyway, the only reason I'm going 4 stars is that you should never ever go to the DTLA shop unless you happen to be within walking distance (like you work in the area). There is absolutely nowhere to park. I found one illegal loading zone space and managed to get in and out with my cake before I got a ticket. Yelp! listing says they have validated parking, but they do not. You're better off driving to Encino or Beverly Hills than trying to find parking at this location. Still, love the cake. read more

So if you have a sweet tooth or the person you are celebrating like sweet cakes this may not be it. Whole Foods Berry Cake is a better choice if you had to compare berry cakes. The cream on the cake was ok. I would hope my friends wouldn't get me a cake here... However, the person we were celebrating likes fruity cakes that aren't overly sweet. For a last minute birthday gift, I went to Sweet Lady Jane in downtown and picked up 8 yummy and beautiful cupcakes! I ate half of the chocolate one with pink topping It was delicious and not too sweet! Yes, this location in downtown is a smaller shop, and I suggest calling ahead for them to preorder for you or to see if they have your favorite item in stock. Parking is also skimpy, so I suggest street parking on Hope at Wilshire. The service is good! There's no inside/outside dining; everything is to go. They also have delicious cakes, cookies, lemon bars, and brownies. read more

This review is hard to write, as I have praised and love the goodies from Sweet Lady Jane for years. For instance, I recently had their Triple Berry Slice cake slice and it was such a delightful treat. The frosting was tart and sweet, and had this lovely taste of summer that tasted like the sweet brightness of lemons. To be clear, I tasted some zest and citrusy notes, not sure if the cake actually had lemon. My taste buds may have known pleasure from near and far, but they are not so develop that they can be trusted as a microscope for reliable deep analysis. I just know that the cake was so pleasent I would describe it, as more than delicious, I would describe as a treat that will delight profoundly. And, I of course, don't describe all cakes like this. So yes, I love Sweet Lady Jane and it's brand. That is why I am disappointed that this location's manager, provided me customer service that truly left me sour and with "a bad taste in my mouth." It was a colleague's birthday, and she is a great one--- pleasant, fun to be around with, kind, wise, and up-lifting. I wanted to score her day with a note of greatness. She wanted Red Velvet- the Southern tradition has worn itself for me- but for her, it was her birthday wish, so I had to comply, and I did happily. I noticed, when I was ordering via Uber eats that the Berry Slice was BOGO. I ordered one, too get the other, and showed my boss so he knew that a coming slice was a choice that he had to accept because the second slice was on Sweet Lady Jane. I ordered the slice and the cupcake and much to my frustration only one slice of cake came. I called the location, and spoke to a staff member. He explained to come and he would be the slice. Ok, so I had to go and pick up the slice. I did not demand retribution from their side. I did not express frurstation, I would go and pick up my slice because it was owed to me. I ordered that slice because it was two-for-one, and I had plans for the two. I went to Sweet Lady Jane and had to drive into LA downtown traffic. I ordered via Uber Eats to save time, and avoid, traffic- LA traiffc- and now I was enduring both. Still, I went. When I was on the surface streets of Downtown LA, I had to stop short cause a car needed to turn right and he needed to occupy my place in the lane line. Cool. Great. I stopped short and my cars belongs went forward, my airpod case opened and one of my airpods came out. Ugh. Would I find it later? Then I parked in a loading zone. I ran into the shoppe and was going to pick up a slice, and a cupcake. I thought that both the slice and the cupcake were BOGO. Only the cake was BOGO, not the cupcake. The staff member told me that he needed to see the Uber offer. Did he not have access to their own offers? Did he not have knowledge? I left my car in the Loading Zone I parked in. I ran. I had to cross an LA downtwon street. I got the phone. Ran back to the shoppe. Showed the staff owner the phone. I was right. I was owed a slice. That is where he informed that I was wrong, I was not owed, technically, the cupcake, but based on all I did to help solve their error I thought I could get a cupcake. Remember, I ordered Ubea Eats, they had a BOGO deal, that the staff member didnt know about, I drove during the day, faced traffic, parked in an area with scarce parking spots, and crossed a busy street twice, and still my good faith request was denied. I did not ask them to cater the desserts for a backyard wedding of only 20. I do consider my request for a cupcake as a fair request. The staff member said that I could only get the slice. Can I talk to the manager I said? He introduced himself as the manager and shook my hand. I felt like he was trying to live a TIktok video or meme--- like I asked for the manager and in a funny or magic reveal moment he glowed as the manager communicating that his word was might and law. I was not left in awe. I asked for his supervisor's email. He gave it to me. As he was packing the cheesecake he offered me a cupcake from the BOGO menu. No thanky, our earlier interaction "left a bad taste in the mouth." And I may be wrong, for wanting a cupcake, but I did support the solutioj a lot from my inside. And I do think that my request was fair. So maybe I am wrong, or maybe the manager just did not want me to have my cake and eat it too. read more
