Such a solid spot for breakfast, coffee or lunch in Toluca Lake. The inside of the restaurant is spacious and while it's casual, it feels more elevated than your average breakfast spot. Plenty of outlets if you want to come by with your laptop! I usually come on weekdays and it's not super busy. You order at the counter and then they bring your food out to you. I love their coffee drinks and I've never had a meal here I didn't like. Most recently I had the breakfast hash and it was delicious! It came with salad and toast so it was a pretty big meal. They have lots of healthy salad options for the health conscious folks and pastries for those with a sweet tooth! It's a great place to take people for a variety of menu options. Service was great and all of the tables were extremely clean. If you don't mind the self serve vibe, you've got to check it out!

I didn't see a lot of dinner reviews so I thought I'd try it. We made a reservation on Resy but it wasn't necessary there was plenty of seating available. It's cute and has a nice wine bar, open seating area with hard floors means it can get loud when full. The service was pretty good, they have happy hour daily for wine and beer and select food. What we ordered: appetizer was garlic shrimp which was a bit disappointing with six small shrimp in some sauce. Good flavor but it was just ok. Next came our entrees which were truffle cavetteli pasta and the wild lemon glaze halibut. Both of these options were excellent! The halibut had great flavor and a good portion. We also had dessert of warm butter cake and an affogado coffee. One thing to point out is they have table service during dinner. It is definitely worth venturing out to if you're in the neighborhood, a chill vibe with fresh food.

My family and I decided to stop by Sweetsalt in a Sunday evening. Unbeknownst to us, after a certain time (dinner?) it turns into a sit down restaurant with table service rather than the order at the counter and take your number and sit version we had experienced previously. The mood is somewhere between romantic and chic in the evening. We ordered an assortment of items including hamburgers but this the woodfired pizza stood out. I would be back just for that, maybe joined with a appetizer or two and a glass of wine. Cheers.

In my ongoing quest to canvass all of Toluca Lake for food reviews, I tried Sweetsalt again for lunch yesterday. This is my third time there, I went once for breakfast and once for a lunch meeting. Service is fine. 4/5. You order up front and they bring the food to you. I have found both times I've went that the cashiers were busy doing something so even though there was no line I had to wait about 5 min for service. Not the biggest deal. Food usually comes prompt. Atmosphere 3/5. This place looks really pretty on the inside. Has some outdoor seating on riverside. It's sorta elevated fast casual. Feels like a kit store made from left over parts from old mimis restaurants. My only real issue is its high ceilings. It gets very loud fast. This seems to be a trend with places these days, but I prefer to hear the person I am dining with. Food 3/5. It's just... ok. I had a breakfast once and it was fine. Had a salad once and it was fine. Yesterday I ordered their Brussel and kale tacos with double chicken (which totaled like almost 30 bucks!). My partner had a caprese with chicken and it was super dry! Portion sizes are good. Coffee is also just ok. Lots of better options nearby. So the food is... fine. But so so expensive. Again it's like, am I getting my money's worth? I can go to TJs down the street, get about 20 meals that taste better, go home and heat them up. Not sure if it's me or restaurants in general in these times but I'm just not finding the quality to be worth the cost. Go here for a quick breakfast or brunch or maybe a meeting. Maybe just stay home or make a nice picnic lunch or something if you're looking for dining with intent.

I've been meaning to stop by for months. This was a unique yet lovely experience. Stand on line to place/pay for my order. Grabbed my number, took a few steps where I cured my coffee, needed additional napkins and my hot sauce. Next thing I know, this lovely plate was presented. Thanks to Hannah who was very helpful to me, while I decided my breakfast. I so enjoyed my meal. There is parking in the back, as well as street parking. Sweetsalt offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was enjoyable.

Yummy mushroom truffle pizza!!! We also got the rigatoni pasta, which was pretty good. I wouldn't get it again though. And the chicken salad with almonds, which was pretty good after adding goat cheese to it. I think I'll stick with pizza next time.

First time trying. We were a bit confused as the host desk had a sign saying to seat yourself. We finally figured out it was a stand in line at the counter to order place. We placed our order. My wife had the Steak and Blue on baguette. I got the Shortrib sandwich with fries. We both really enjoyed the sandwiches. The surprise was how good their Japanese Lager was. I really enjoyed it. The service was great and the relaxed atmosphere made it a great place to just hang out. We are definitely coming again.

The food taste great but sometimes can come out a bit cold. They are kinda slow when serving food but they have many orders to prepare! Very polite people & and clean space :)

The place looks nice. Free parking behind the building. Luckily because we had major problems finding parking on the street on a Saturday afternoon. Staff seem friendly. We decided to sit outside in front by the street. It wasn't too noisy. My spouse ordered a lentil/vegetable soup. He let me try it. I had to agree with him. Very watery in my opinion but also extremely tasteless. Absolutely nothing to write home about. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and an orange juice. It wasn't bad. But it came with some greens. I assumed it was a side salad. But either they forgot the dressing or they don't like to share much of it. I tasted just plane green lettuce. Nothing else. After we got the food. No one ever came out to check on the us. So I never had a chance to ask for anything anyway. Well, it was worth a try. I won't say this place is horrible but not for us.

Very fast service, has some free parking in the back, lots of seating in a stylish dining area, and a fairly large menu of sandwiches and salads. You order at a cashier and then they bring the food to you in less than 5 minutes. The fig and prosciutto sandwich was pretty good and I enjoyed the honey lavender matcha latte which had a fairly prominent lavender flavor. Sandwich could've been bigger or a bit more filling given that between the drink, sandwich, tip, and tax, my meal cost over $33. Overall, I did enjoy this spot but you're definitely paying for the atmosphere.

Sweetsalt is a cute little cafe in Toluca Lake. Seemed like there were some people doing work on their laptops, friends catching up with each other, and overall a chill, laid-back spot. The food was alright, wasn't blown away by any of the dishes. The side salad was whatever, felt like the mixed greens out of a bag. Service was pretty good and friendly. Highlight was probably the breakfast sandwich.

Famous for their breakfast/brunch/lunch on Riverside in Toluca Lake, I believe Sweetsalt just opened for dinner service over the past several months. Business must be good, as they've also expanded to a bigger, brand new location just a couple blocks down from where they used to be. Despite living within walking distance, my dinner here just a couple weeks ago was actually my first time stopping in. I'm glad I finally decided to visit, because the food is great! To eat, I ordered the Margherita "Wood Oven" Pizza. Priced at $20, it's not the cheapest in town, but the quality is certainly elevated. The size is also fairly substantial. The decor/ambience is warm and inviting, and while service was on the slower side, everyone was helpful and friendly. If looking for a nice spot to grab some food at around Toluca Lake, Sweetsalt is a solid option. I will likely be back soon to try more of their menu items.

When I came, they were having like a bingo night so there were some people participating in it. I got the 8 inch Kali Mist sub and got my wife the same order. I customized my sub by asking for the avocado on the side and without pickle or onion. Mu wife sub was just with no tomatoes. The drinks options here are amazing, you have kool aid! They also have different kind of tea as well. This place also has a bar where you can get drinks. There enough seating to accommodate for most guest but I was just taking to go. They didn't take long to make my order and I had a great time chatting with the person preparing my order. He was very nice and energized with a upbeat attitude. He let me know that the sandwich was labeled so I would know which sub was which with the customization. It's street parking here or you can try to park in the little garage in the back, I just walked here. My sandwich was delicious and has a little kick to it. I will recommend that if you get the Kali Mist, you should eat it while it's fresh for the best taste. The sub will fill you up because it has so much toppings in it and they give you a decent amount too. My wife loved her sub as well beside the bacon since I forgot to ask for that on the side. If I'm back in the area with my friends, I would recommend coming here to them.

It's got a seriously cool vibe to the place; almost a mix of Mel's Diner nostalgia, but the ambience of an independent comic book shop that has all the cool toys. They carry a seriously good swath of international snacks and beverages that you will not find many other places. And the only thing that would make it better is if they had a counter you could sit at and enjoy your meal. First attempt pulled up lame when I was told they were out of meatballs and wouldn't have any for at least three days. Crushed. I had my heart set on the meatball so I didn't order anything else on the left.. Second attempt turned out much better because they had the meatballs!! I ordered it up and was told it'd be :20 (and came within :10) so I sat at the couple of tables just outside the front door. I was planning on eating the sandwich there, but it was way too hot outside so I took it to go. Driving home and not looking inside to see what it looked like. Because the sandwich wasn't as heavy as I expected when it was handed to me, I suspected the social media video was a bit overblown on portion size, so I was excited to get home and see. The first thing I noticed was that the sandwich was a pretty good size, and just tantalizingly presented, and cooked with some great browning. I picked it up and tried to take a bite, but the meatball was bigger than I could get my mouth open! However, I persisted and that's when I found out that the ride home caused the bottom of the bun to get a little soggy, and everything started squirting out through the bottom, so I made the sad decision to try to eat it with a fork and knife (which really is the saddest way to eat a good sub). However #2, the second half of the sandwich did not suffer the same fate, so I was able to pick that up and that section of the sandwich the way it was meant to be enjoyed. All-in-all, the sandwich pretty much lived up to expectations. Visually appealing, large portions, tasty, but fairly tame flavor. Textures were great. Not as messy as I expected, but just enough to give you extra licks on your fingers. Also, it didn't sit in my gut the way I thought it would, especially considering I've been fasting all day for medical test (and this was my reward). I was full and content, but not stuffed.

I went with the nine inch. I'm not sure if I was just done but 6" with all of the meat would have been plenty. It ended up being a little on the salty side. The chicken was in chunks which made it a little unpleasant versus having the chicken in thin strips. At the end I enjoyed it but definitely think I would do the traditional Philly if I make it back. I was quite happy with it, certainly substantial in size, good flavor from multiple meats, lots of shredded lettuce. I even dipped it in the residual juices from the side tomato-cucumber salad and loved that too! The sandwich can be made into a combo that comes with 2 sides and a fountain drink. Here I found that the quality was not as good as the sandwich. The tomato-cucumber salad was the right amount of oil/vinegar, the fruit and vegetable were fresh, very solid option. The pesto on pasta shells was underwhelming. I do like me some pesto, but here it was more for visual and aroma than taste. I would try other sides before getting this one again. Lastly, the taste of their Diet Coke was odd. I thought they had given me half and half with regular coke, so I asked for them to pour me a new one, and it ended up tasting the same ‍ Given the variable quality of sides and drinks, I think I would come back primarily for the entree items, and probably evaluate my other preferred sandwich the Meatball.

For drinks, they have some bottled/refrigerated options, fountain drinks, and lemonades. I took a moment to study their LARGE menu and deciced with the following: Grand Stand Turkey Sandwich - $13.75 (roasted turkey breast, peppadew caraway spread, bacon, avocado, lettuce, red onion, fresh dill on griddled sourdough). I also got a Chimichurri Steak Salad - $16.25 (grilled steak, kale and mixed greens, crispy quinoa, green apple, mint, sliced cucumber, cherry tomatoes, corn salsa, chimichurri, charred corn vinaigrette). To finish it off, I got a regular sized order of Sweet Potato Fries ($4.99) and asked for a side of Sourdough bread for my salad. (50¢ for one slice). Didn't get any drinks. Natalie was the employee that helped me and she was very sweet, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. She got everything in my order correct and they got it done in about 10 minutes. Very fast and very fresh! My food tasted delicious and I loved all the flavors and textured together. Great combinations and very flavorful. The fries were nice and crispy, just how they should be. They have some cookies available to purchase by the register, or you can try one of their shakes. They also serve beer and wine here. They have a gender neutral restroom, but I didn't need to use it. Next time, I'm going to come and eat here in person. If you're in the mood to sit outside, you can also dine on their patio. They have 13 locations in LA and were established in 2013. It was the right size and tasty. The grilled cheese ended up pretty salty, not sure if it was the bacon jam or the fried onions. We couldn't finish it but when we reheated it later it wasn't as salty. Fries were as expected seasoned just enough that ketchup was not needed but we did ask for some just in case. Ample seating indoors and outdoors. You are not expected to bus your plates but there are well marked trash receptacles. Good meal and decent prices!
