This is the first time we have eaten dinner there since the new change of the restaurant - meaning that it moved down the street. The environment as far as the ambience was OK and nice and very casual and comfortable. The service was OK. The arrival of the food was really off this evening we had 5 of us and all I ordered was the appetizer of the shrimp and the appetizer of the Woodfire grilled broccoli my shrimp arrived the broccoli took forever they said it was still cooking in a different oven it came out it was not woodfired it seemed like it was steamed and it was sitting on some sort of sauce which was tasteless. My friend ordered a salad with a salmon on the side and the salmon came out several minutes after along with my broccoli. At the end they did offer to have her not pay for her salmon because it was so delayed but they made no mention of my broccoli which was sort of unusual. It was a bit of a disappointment meal-wise but we all had a wonderful time despite and the others did enjoy their food but they didn't seem to rave about it. read more

Pretty good lunch spot in Toluca Lake. I was trying to get poke at a spot in Noho, but it was unfortunately closed. So I found this place as I wanted something light, like salads. Looked at the menu and called to place an order. I didn't get a real good look at the menu but decided on the veggie salad with chicken and the almond chicken salad. The guy on the phone said it would be 10 minutes, which was great. I walked back to my car and drove there. Found street parking and was able to pick up my food, which was ready when I got there. My salad was good, but I was kinda surprised it was ice berg lettuce (like I said I ordered pretty quickly). Ice berg just has no nutritional value, but I guess its cheap, but my fault, I ordered this salad without really looking. My husband's salad had arugula, and I thought his was slightly better. I was in the neighborhood today and noticed this joint moved in where Honey Baked was formerly located on Riverside Drive. Decided to stop and have dinner, and it was a great decision. I only had the short rib entree tonight and it was delicious! No knife needed, meat just came apart nicely, cooked to perfection, rounded out with mashed potatoes and root vegetable puree with fig relish. Great service with a modern look and low key atmosphere. After a handful of visits here, I wish there was something more compelling to write about. The decor? Not so much. A bit dated in color. The food? It's good, not great, but most of all, just unmemorable. Ordered the vegan tomato soup and the lettuce cups on my last visit. The soup was simple which I appreciate. Added pepper. The lettuce cups? Just glad they had Tapatio packets to moisten and spice this dish up. In the big picture, i'd love to see this concept reinvented. There are so many great breakfast and lunch places in the neighborhood. And at one point, this place may have made the cut. This is the perfect indoor and outdoor meetup spot and there were plenty of tables for my Tuesday brunch. There may be a wait but it shouldn't be more than 10 minutes. I wanted to try so many things on the menu but I decided to go somewhat healthy and ordered the egg hash with sausage and avocados. This was delicious and tasted better than anything i could imagine. A super cute find that could just solve all your "where to meet" problems. I was meeting a colleague that lives in Pasadena... I'm coming from WeHo. Someone recommended this place as pretty much in the middle - AND it opens at 8 every day of the week... we like to meet early on the weekends. It seemed perfect. Parking was a breeze at that time of day and though there were a couple of people having breakfast on the outdoor patio, it wasn't crowded yet. You order at the counter and you can get "real" food like bacon and eggs or take a deep dive into their lovely pastry counter. I went sweet. They have properly sized coffee cups (none of this thimble-sized nonsense) and the coffee is good. I was entranced with a gorgeous apricot tart (I believe that is what she called it... my eyes had glazed over). It was as tasty as it was pretty. A really perfect Sunday breakfast. My colleague went all in and had the spinach scramble, which he devoured in a matter of minutes. It was served with toast and a side salad. There are some outdoor tables and some booths and tables inside. The decor is cute/kitschy and the entire vibe is very welcoming. Definitely a winner if you find yourself in this area. The banana bread and pumpkin bread are very moist a little on the sweet side and a very thick slice! Priced high but if you're craving either you'll get your $5 worth in one slice. Also the honey lavender matcha was really good just get no ice as they fill the whole cup with ice and you get two sips of a drink as a result which is a bummer especially when it's good! We went for dinner and it was really bland. The appetizers were extremely funny for the price point. One dish was basically a pile of almost raw unseasoned broccoli on top of a scoop of sauce on a plate. We actually laughed when it came out. The bacon wrapped dates were just very gross overall and I've had better in other restaurants. Beautiful space - gorgeous really but the food quality has gone down from the little spot that used to be up the street. We had the Caesar wrap that was dry, and the onion blanco sausage pizza was awful 2/10 at best super thin and dry with very little flavor and scant toppings. The champagne vinaigrette was way too sharp and one dimensional. The French fries were very good and so was the chipotle dipping sauce cut over all would not be back! I always leave feeling satisfied all around. I've ordered from Sweetsalt a few times with large orders which they take via email. They are highly communicative and receptive about every request. The first time I went, I got the Spicy Quinoa salad which I wasn't super impressed by, but I'm glad I came back because the Caprese and the Steak & Brie sandwich are delightful. Both served with a side salad with their house dressing. Though I've never gotten them, the Brussels Sprouts & Kale Tacos always look SO good. I'm not a fan of artichokes so I've never actually ordered them but maybe I'll have to try them. Next time! read more

The best compliment i can give to their food is that it's kinda edible. We have ordered the breakfast sandwich (with sausage) and the buffalo chicken wrap. To best way to describe the chicken wrap is it was like those cold pre-packaged wraps you get at a grocery store. I barely ate a few bites of the wrap and simply couldn't finish it. The breakfast sandwich was the equivalent of the sandwiches you get at Starbucks. Bland egg and awful tasting sausage slapped in-between 2 pieces of bread. The side salads, well it wasn't really a salad. It was basically the spring mix you get at ralphs drizzled with some dressing. Decided to give this place a try because Red Maple was a zoo. The vibe is chill and good music. They were rocking some classic 70s when I was there. Perfect for a rainy breakfast day. The scone was amazing. Would have been out of this world if warm. Breakfast burrito was tasty. A little too salty for me but I am a low salt diet person. I did not get a coffee drink. This was my first time at this location, was told by a close friend to try it out. Had a great experience, so much variety of breakfast/lunch food items to choose from. The bakery items looked so delicious did not know what to get. I ended up getting the lemon loaf. It was delicious. The food was great and had a great service. There was a young lady that helped me by the name of Maria, she had beautiful long hair, she was great, very attentive and made me feel welcome. The owners did a lovely job on this beautifully remodeled space. Before they had beer and wine, we ate lunch there and it was delicious and now they are open for dinner with a beautifully curated wine list by the very experienced and knowledgeable Brad Rosen. The food is innovative and delicious. I had the salmon with a pistachio sauced fettuccine and my companions' both had the short rib, which was melt in your mouth delicious. but beware it is very rich. We are saving the woodfired pizza and cozy wine bar for our next visit. dessert was a nicely prepared Affogoto, the rest of the menu also looked interesting. The menu prices are in line with a good restaurant. There is some parking behind the space. Reservations can be made online, they don't use OpenTable, but use a good option. They still have some minor issues to work out, most notably professional service. On our 6pm visit there were two servers. Our server seemed hesitant and not quite up on the menu. Perhaps she was busy, although the restaurant was not nearly half full, but it took a while for her to pick up the white wine and as a result, it was warm. The second server, who we recognized from Vitello's, served the table next to us and seemed far more attentive. Our companion has a severe gluten allergy, and while there were options, a gluten free pasta and pizza would have been greatly appreciated. They also might want to rethink the eight dollar cost of the very tiny baguette, it did come with some nice garlic butter. but was a little chewy for our taste. Sadly we visited on a hot day and their A/C was not up to the task, but all in all we recommend this restaurant and anticipate some of these issues to be worked out with time. read more
