We come to swingles at least once a month to stock up. They have a large variety of marinated meats, cuts & others. Our staples that we can never leave without are the Mother load tritip, whiskey river tritip, pesto ricotta ravioli(to die for), the beef sticks (any flavor is amazing), frozen burgers, burger seasoning!! AWARENESS: Not long ago, a buddy purchased and brought me a Kona Tri-Tip to cook and share with my family. After letting it cook long and slow on the Traeger, the hook was set as soon as I tasted this Tri-tip. When I asked where I could purchase the meat, I was sent here to Swingle Meat Co. in Jackson. NARRATIVE: Swingler's is not open on days I'm normally off work, which are Sunday and Monday's so, I took a day off because, the meat was so tasty. The drive up on Highways 12 and 88 are very scenic and not too busy with traffic so, from Tracy, it took about an hour. The wife and I arrived about 15 minutes before they opened and to my surprise, for a Friday morning, a short line had already formed outside. The folks inside opened about five minutes early and the wife and I were in the first batch of people allowed inside. **Because of COVID, they only allow seven persons inside at one time.** SCENE: The inside of the store is fairly small. Cold wall storage on the far left wall. A back to back center freezer and another cold storage wall on the right side of the shop. The meats are all segregated as per marinade, so if you're looking for a specific flavor, you can go right to it. **I don't know if COVID has anything to do with it but, they only allow each family ONE filled basket of meat at one time. So, if your not alone and want more than one basket can handle, arms and hands out to the one not carrying the basket.** EVIDENCE: There are several different meats with different marinades to choose. They also carry local meats such as: Bologna, cut up Rabbit, Sausages, Bacon and more.. RECOMMENDATION(S): As you can see with the reviews of Swingler's, I'm not the only Yelper who loves this place. I used to shop here for most of my meats, but after you started putting on a credit card usage fee I'm giving all my business to Adam's in Folsom. If you ever decide to take that fee away I'll be back, but as a rule I don't give my business to anyone who charges additional fees like that. What can I say that hasn't been said about this place? The food is delicious, the people are friendly, the atmosphere is unique. A true family business. You can taste the love that goes into their food. One time I accidentally took some food there that wasn't mine. I called them, told them about how I only realized that, & they were not even mad. I insisted on paying for it & they insisted on not charging me the whole price because they could tell I accidentally took it & felt bad about it. People come from far and wide to hit the meat church for good reason. Staff here have always been friendly and helpful. Recommend bringing an ice chest if you're visiting from a distance. You can't go wrong here. I bought a box of ground beef for $2.49 lb. also bought Cajun Pork sausage which was excellent. Original kippered beef (jerky) lasted about 10 minutes in the car! Enjoyed stopping by during a winery trip to the area. Large selection of different meats, especially marinaded cuts to bake or barbecue at home. A good selection of lunch meat cuts too. I took home a Kona pork tri-tip, pastrami and salami. All were delicious and very reasonably priced. They had a lot of staff working, all of whom were friendly and helpful when we had questions. Most everything was prepackaged and not much of a display like other butcher's I've been to, although that could be because of the type of "foot traffic" they get. Conveniently located on Kennedy Flat Road and adjacent to Highway 49 in Jackson, CA, "Swingle Meat Company" might be small on the inside but don't let that fool you. The one noticeable thing that you will see at the exterior of the building is a giant larger than life cow that is gracefully above the signage. The parking lot is pretty small but I have never had any issues finding a space nearby. Inside, this place boasts a few large taxidermy deer heads as well as several refrigerators and freezers that keeps the food iced cold. And inside all of this packs a huge assortment of chicken, pork, ribs, beef, burger patties, steak, hot dogs, sausage, and bacon. Additionally, you will also find a nice little variety of beef jerky, pasta, seafood, cheeses, and even spices to truly make your perfect cut of meat come to life. One might wonder that a hole-in-the-wall gem will have astronomically high prices. However, this place is actually cheaper than what you'd find at Safeway, Raley's, and Save Mart. Not to mention, since they grind all of their meat in house, you are only getting the freshest meat. As many Yelpers have mentioned, the one thing that I highly advise buying is their "Kona beef tri-tip". The flavor is absolutely mouth watering and one of the best tri-tips I've ever consumed. I would also have to say that any Sirloin, T-Bone, and Ribeye steak from "Swingle Meat Co." would rival any "Morton's" or "Sutter Street Steakhouse"; its just that damn good! Great selection of meats and cuts but let's be honest, I drive over an hour there and back once a month for the meat sticks and beef jerky. Their pineapple chicken skewers are great as well for a quick snack or thrown into a rice bowl with some vegis. I grab one of the various Tri-tips to throw on my smoker and I am good to go. I also like how many young people I see behind the counter, it's great to know these skills are being passed on to the next generation of butchers. read more

IYKYK. If you don't know, this place has amazing proteins for your taste buds. My wife and I drive here from Sacramento about 1-2 times a month just to get their beef jerky. Hearing amazing things about Swingle, I bought enough meat for two dinners for our large group (20+ people). We had the marinated tri-tip (Motherlode seasoning) one night, and chicken thighs (Kona seasoning) on the other night. I'm not much of a beef eater, but many of my friends commented on how good the tri-tip was. And I thought the chicken was absolutely delicious. I loved how easy it was to defrost the meat, throw it in the oven, and feed so many mouths. And my friends raved about how delicious the meat was. A win-win for everyone! read more

I found this place 2 yrs ago and it is heaven .if you eat meat this place has it all for you .me and wife ran out of bacon .so we made another run we bought a whole belly of there pork honey cured bacon .I can spend my whole life saving here.we bought a couple of NY steaks to like we normally do there selection is so big from chicken marinaded to game hens ready too cook beef single portions sausages of all kinds . They dont have a meat display case everything is cut to order. We drive from east bay and it's worth it . They will custom wrap or vacuum seal for you to put in freezer. I have been getting meat from swingle meat for many years now and it is not local to me at all. But this place is well worth the 40 min to hour drive once a month. Jay the owner is a great guy who works very hard to insure he has a top notch product. the shish kebabs are great for a quick week night dinner. The bacon is the best I have had and his thanks giving turkeys cant even be compared to. I just ordered 22 of them and give them to my employees every year. It looks like a meat wholesaler, but it's open to the public. Store is small, and 90% of stock is frozen - they make every single thing fresh there and vacuum seal and flash freeze, so even though it's frozen the food cooks well and tastes AHMAZING! I took off one star because the cooking instructions aren't always clear. The fish you can bake straight from frozen. The chicken cordon bleu didn't say anything about thawing it, so I cooked it from frozen and it took f o r e v e r to cook. Tasted great when it was finally done, and now I know. PS. The pulled pork in the crockpot with some apple juice is to die for. read more
