While I've been coming here with family for years, and I mean since probably the early 80's. And have always enjoyed their food, the service is always pretty much on point, especially during the day! We mainly go during the daytime hours and occasionally we go in the evenings and every once in a while on a weekend if we're feeling brave! Something that has always bugged me and others from some I've talked to and I hope management and or the wait staff will read this. When people come in and place an order for drinks and appetizers sometimes the waitress will sometimes ask if we want to go ahead and place our dinner order which we will almost always order a dinner salad with our meal. I'm always hesitant because either the waitress don't know any better, or just don't have the experience, but they will always bring out your salad right after they have brought out your appetizers!!! When you have four people sitting at a table for four there is hardly any room for anything but your appetizers and the plates they bring out for you to share said appetizers! Then they set your salads down and there is even less room!!! And then!!! Here someone comes someone to bring your dinner entre and there is no room left unless you start handing unfinished salads and or your appetizers back!!! This happened tonight and I really got a little ticked by it as it has happened before and I'm sure it's happened to others! Even a table with 6 or 8 people will become overloaded if they start bringing out everything at once! I know, I've experienced that here too, but have really never said anything about it. And it usually only happens during the evenings and weekends. Tonight I came close to saying something, but thought about it and didn't! The waitress was nice enough and maybe she don't realize your making people feel rushed to eat and leave. I don't like having the feeling of being rushed through a meal and I don't think anyone else does either. So next time I order an appetizer here or anywhere else and they ask if I want to order, the answer is going to be no thanks, we'll wait. And when I order and get a salad, I'm going to ask them to give us time to eat the salad before your bring our entre out, or wait until we are finished with our salads before you turn our entre order in please! I know they are very busy being by the boardwalk and the exposure from being on Diners, Drive Inns, and Dives, but I don't want to feel like I'm doing a NASCAR pit stop while I'm dining, getting in and out ASAP!!! We all spend good money here and other places, more so even with the government induced inflation we're all suffering with! I just want to enjoy my meal, I would think we all do! read more

Oh my gosh, I had the best steak at T-bone Tom's! We opted to eat on the patio and it was wonderful. Our server was so nice and efficient. We had fried pickles for an appetizer, they're superb and cooked exactly how I like them (sliced thin with a thin layer of batter), simply delicious, so glad I ordered them (every bite was eaten). I also had fried for the first time in years which took me back to my southern roots, yummy! Go and enjoy, I highly recommend it! read more

This place was fantastic. We did go during a slower time, but the service was awesome. Our waitress made great suggestions . The steak was so moist and the shrimp was expertly fried. The bread pudding was the best. It reminded me of an apple cake my mom used to make. read more

Recently, I went to T-Bone Tom's, placed.a.ro fo order, the service was impeccable.The chicken fried steak was unbelievable, tender & can't say enough about the cream gravy. Momma got the Grilled Chicken Salad, enough chicken in there for 2 meals, the honey mustard dressing was on point. Highly recommend. read more

When they make you feel unwelcomed because of the color of your skin. Just insane. You would think they would want business. Been coming here for over 6 years and lately the past two years have been so unwelcoming. Looks like we'll be finding a new place to go every year. Also check your bills. Last year I didn't get a recipe and I'm pretty sure they added on a tip even though we tipped cash. But was my fault I didn't get a copy of my receipt. read more

Got hellos from three different servers. The best was the last one. Forgot the ladies name. We got today's special, nlackened catfish. A bit too salted for me. Comes on a bed of spanish rice and two sides: choice from a list of 10. I picked hush puppies and fried okra. Both yummy. Next order was the ribe-eye special, marinated with Leah sauce, pineapple juice, and sy sauce for 24 hours. Very moist and perfectfully done. 2 sides were tomatoes and green beans. Both yummy and fresh. I had to have a bowl if white clam chowder full of seafood like fish, shrimp, and oysters. Double yum. Lastly, was the key lime pie. It was okay. read more

We came here recently for a Sunday lunch. Fortunately, there were only a handful of patrons here when we arrived (around 11:30). Within 30 minutes, the dining room was full, and we couldn't hear each other talk. I remember experiencing the same thing when this joint was known as Opus Bistro several years ago. Despite the noise, the dining room still offers an excellent view of the canal and the people pulling up on their boats. Again, the food here is OK. Nothing more. In fact, it was quite reminiscent of a Fertita-owned restaurant with lines of delivery trucks from Sysco and Gordon's lined up at the loading dock. More specifically, the coconut shrimp came out crispy with not much flavor beyond the cloyingly sweet sauce served alongside. The fries are battered. Not my bag, though they arrived at the table hot and crispy. (Since when do crispy fries need batter?!?) The tacos were average. Not bad, but nothing different than you would get at most other places. Same with the Caesar salad and crispy Brussels sprouts. The crab bisque tasted tomatoey. That's not a deal breaker, but I expect a garlicky, buttery broth that has been thickened with heavy cream. Not the case here, as this was flour-thickened with inexpensive ingredients. And the amount of crab was negligible. Those *are* deal breakers. The beer selection is fine here. And, again, the service was really good on our visit. Bottom Line: I totally want local businesses to succeed. But my money is also hard-earned, and I want the food to taste local and to be made with high-quality ingredients. When it doesn't -- and this place doesn't -- I might as well grab a Groupon and go to Red Lobster.

The service was excellent. We had a lovely waitress. She made sure our coffee and water and juice were full and that we were satisfied with our meals. This brand is rather consistent now between the Katiy/Fuller operation and now the chemo operation. I would highly recommend either one. The ambience is typical of all saltgrass restaurants. Very Texan oriented and really very pleasant and this one has a significant advantage in that you're overlooking Galveston Bay, which is actually quite lovely. This is not a restaurant to be missed if you happen to be in the Kema area for breakfast. I can't speak to the remainder of the meals, but there's no reason to suspect that if their breakfast is as good as it is there lunch and dinner are likely close and the convenience within Caya is undoubtable.

However there were a few places where they fell short. 1. There was no kids menu. This may not be a big deal for a lot of people. It wasn't a big deal for me since my toddler eats pretty much anything, so we shared. It WAS however a big deal for my 6 year-old niece who does NOT eat anything. They told my sister that they could make some butter noodles or take the harissa off of a pizza and make it a smaller size for her. She opted for the butter noodles which were bland and unseasoned. Then they have no salt or pepper on the tables so she couldn't even season them until she asked for some. It helped, but they still weren't very good. 2. The food is overpriced. It's good food, but the prices were a little steep compared to the quality. My sister and I discussed this later and we both had the same thought. We didn't understand why they weren't busy because they had the potential to be, and it just felt like they maybe were trying TOO hard. I would go back, but this wouldn't be a regular choice for me. I'd be happy to go if someone chose this as an option, and I might even choose to go back for a date night or something. I like the atmosphere of the place as well as how open it felt... I don't love a crowded space. Another thing I loved was the Smoked Caramel Bread Pudding. I'm surprised I liked it so much because I don't typically love added smoke flavor, but this worked! Listen, I LOVE bread pudding. If there's ever bread pudding on the menu, I'm going to get it. This being my birthday dinner dessert was absolutely fine by me. The edges were a little caramelized and it was absolutely delicious and everyone who tried it agreed. Give this place a try, but just know that you may pay a little more than what it's worth. It's still tasty food though! Also... try the bread pudding!

Shrimp was nice and freshly hot, and my Wellington was perfectly cooked medium! I thought the gumbo was good but didn't have a kick, and I didn't even ask for Tabasco for it. lol.The Roux was also not thick enough. The bread pudding was merely a sample, and it was smaller than most desserts at other concepts. In addition to dining, we tried our hand at Trivia. They have several specials going on different days of the week. I really enjoyed the food here but not the atmosphere and decor. I also feel that tipping should be up to me and not levied an automatic 20% gratuity. Tipping should always be up to the guest, and it is not based on the total with tax. Enough of my griping lol, overall I highly recommend the food and utilize the YELP check in here because you receive 25% off your bill!

I believe that the young man helping behind the counter was the owner's son so that tells me that the business is family owned, can't go wrong with that. The other sides looked delicious as well but I was not really that hungry for other dishes. I will go back and try the other items on the menu at another time. Now that I know where it is, it will be easy peasy to get there again. Once again, I forgot to take a picture of the food but I will when I go back. This is definitely a sports bar but it lacks a single dart board. The interior of the pub was nothing to write home about. The chairs , bar stools and tables look Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. I sampled a couple of the different beers I'd never heard of. It was interesting. We had the lunch Haddock & Cod with chips. The wait wasn't that long and the fish was good and tasty. I think it's important to note food from this part of the world is BLAND, when compared to our palate! I recommend this business for an experience but not so much for the food. GN3

I ordered a meal that arrived undercooked, so much so that the dough was still raw in the middle. It wasn't just slightly underdone it was doughy and inedible. I brought it to the staff's attention & I was told to order something else, and then I was charged for the replacement meal, which cost nearly twice as much as my original order. There was no discount, no adjustment, and no effort to make up for the mistake. In the end, we paid significantly more because the restaurant served an inedible meal. That's simply not acceptable. The one bright spot was our server. She was friendly, attentive, and did everything she could to help. This experience is in no way a reflection of her service she was wonderful. The issue was entirely with how the heck am I paying double for my meal that was wrong. Unfortunately, the lack of quality control and poor customer service in resolving the problem means I won't be returning. When a restaurant makes a mistake, customers shouldn't have to pay extra because of it. Oh and let me add that apparently we weren't the first person to complain about it & it look super long.

There are way better places to eat in Kemah. We had to wait for 2 hours to be seated. The menu had fried food that makes you think you are no where a beach. After seated we got our app and drinks from the waiter which was supee nice. We were seated outside under the hut. It was super hot, and they did not have fans blowing in our direction. After seeing a family leave a table were one of the fans was blowing, we moved in our direction. No big deal becuase family on the table had already left. Well a customer out of no where, after the 30 min the fan was on us decides to move in her direction. She was not inder the hut, which os a little cooler. We had a 2 year old with us. Qe decided to move back in our direction when a male manager yells at us tellimg us we can not move fan. He did not know the story of us having fan blowing in our directions. He was very rude and had lady manager back him up. Instead of coming with a accommodating idea they both were rude. Food is fries food and customer is no good. Better restaurants. T-Bone Tom's is such a gem! We first heard about it from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and it absolutely lives up to the hype. The food is beyond yummy--everything is cooked to perfection and the portions are generous. They also make amazing drinks that perfectly complement the meal! The atmosphere is just as great as the food. It's very family-friendly, with both indoor and outdoor seating, and the fun décor makes it such a welcoming place. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and you can tell they genuinely enjoy working there. What keeps us coming back is the consistency--the food and drinks are always delicious, no matter what we order. T-Bone Tom's has quickly become a favorite spot for our family, and it's easy to see why it earned a feature on TV. Highly recommend! read more

Just got home from T-Bone Toms and had to notify all you yelpers. T-Bone Toms in Kemah Texas is awesome! My girlfriend has the fried shrimp and she loved them. Bob had a ribeye steak and he was it was one of the best he ever had, cooked medium rare, i think is what he said. His wife had I think the grilled chicken salad and she ate every bit and she's on a diet. We sat outside and they are adding a new palm covered roof out there and it is cool looking. Came here with my friends while vacationing in Galveston. They were one of the few places that were open at midnight and we didn't want Denny's. First I thought it was closed, considering it was empty inside but no, in the back the patio was lit up with music playing. Hands down, it was fantastic, the staff was great, not to mention that the food was fantastic. I'm from Dallas but I wouldn't mind going back over there. That's how great it is. read more

I went during holiday weekend while I was back visiting family. Been here many times before. Enjoy the homemade sausage and barbaque sauce. I always find the service to be quick and my ice tea glass is never empty. The food was a little cold and the place needs a good cleaning. I have been going here for years. I went here for the first time when I was 20 years old. It was a regular hang out when I worked in Kemah and needed a place to relax after work. Now that I am a working mom and wife, my whole family loves to eat here. It is wonderful that TBone's has been my favorite through so many different parts of my life!!!! read more

Everything about this restaurant was great. The place was clean and smelled good. The staff and greeter was very nice. Our waiter was awesome, the staff also worked as a team in bringing and cleaning up our food. The food was fresh and awesome. Then we also had dessert and that was really good as well. It's acceptable, but not great. When you drive by and see that it was on "Diner's Drive's and Dive's" you think, this must be awesome! False, it's not that great... nothing to capitalize on. The barbecue sucks, the sandwiches are gross, and most importantly the signature food seen on DDD, are terrible. read more

Before I even get to the food, I have to mention our server, Anthony. From the moment he greeted us, he was attentive, welcoming, and instantly easy to like. He guided us through the menu and recommended many of the dishes we ordered, and every single recommendation was outstanding. He has such a kind, genuine, and radiant energy that made our dinner even more enjoyable. We ordered the bone-in ribeye with peppercorn sauce, the famous pork chop, bacon-wrapped shrimp, beef carpaccio, pork chop mac & cheese, fried asparagus with crab, and my husband enjoyed a whiskey. We started with the beef carpaccio . When they brought it to the table on a large tray, our first reaction was simply, "Wow!" The presentation was beautiful, but the first bite was even better. It was incredibly fresh, light, and perfectly seasoned, allowing the quality of the beef to truly shine. Next came the famous pork chop, which is carved tableside. We were both shocked (and laughed) when we saw just how massive it was! It was juicy, tender, and paired wonderfully with the applesauce. I wasn't sure what to expect from that combination, but it absolutely worked. The bone-in ribeye was everything a steak should be--perfectly cooked, juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor in every bite. Then I tried it with the peppercorn sauce... absolute perfection. I honestly didn't want the meal to end. The bacon-wrapped shrimp were lightly brushed with barbecue sauce, adding just the right touch of sweetness without overpowering the shrimp. Delicious. I'm usually not a mac & cheese person, but my husband is, so we ordered the pork chop mac & cheese. To my surprise, we both loved it. It was rich, creamy, incredibly flavorful, and the bites of pork throughout made it unforgettable. They gave us the recipe and I will be cooking this at home so our children can experience it. Even the fried asparagus impressed us. It was crispy, topped with crab, and unlike anything we've had before. We left talking about how sad we are that there isn't a Perry's in Los Angeles. This is the kind of restaurant you find yourself craving long after you've left. Honestly, we may need to book another trip to Texas just so we can eat here again. If you're anywhere near a Perry's, do yourself a favor and make a reservation. Between the exceptional food and Anthony's outstanding service, this was one of the best steakhouse experiences we've ever had.

Point being, the bun tasted very odd and almost stale, and the patty was very mushy and lacked flavor. The signature sauce was also unappetizing, with it being some sort of distant cousin of mustard or potentially a very odd Thousand Islands? I'm not sure if additional toppings would save this considering the unappealing foundation. It just left me very unfulfilled. The milkshakes on the other hand? Fantastic. Definitely the highlight. It was just as good as the last time I went. I haven't been to many other places that matches the quality of here. Could not recommend more. I've yet to try the chicken or other fish so I can't comment on their quality. All I'm gonna say is, burger lovers maybe approach with a grain of salt. 3/5

When we heard about the Buffalo Trace Bourbon Night, we saw it as an opportunity to give Opus a second chance while enjoying an event centered around one of our interests. As a bourbon enthusiast and collector with more than 120 bottles in my collection, this was a special event that I had been looking forward to for over a week. About a week and a half before the event, I called and made what I believed was a reservation. During that call, I specifically asked whether my wife could attend and have something other than bourbon. The young man I spoke with even put me on hold and checked with someone before confirming that would be fine. At no point during that conversation was I told that I was being placed on a waiting list rather than receiving a confirmed reservation. When we arrived the night of the event, we were handed a drink and then informed that we could not enter because there was no space available. Standing there with a drink in hand only to be told we were not actually admitted to the event was embarrassing and frustrating. We had planned our evening around this experience and were excited to attend, only to find out that what we thought was a reservation was apparently a spot on a waiting list. What made the situation even more disappointing was the lack of effort to make things right. Mistakes happen, and most reasonable people understand that. However, there was no meaningful attempt to accommodate us, no alternative offered, and very little acknowledgment of the inconvenience and embarrassment caused by the situation. The food itself remains what I would consider average--certainly not bad, but not memorable enough to overcome the customer service experience. We ultimately left and went to Kemah Steak Company, where we enjoyed excellent service, great steaks, and some outstanding Garrison Brothers bourbon. Ironically, the evening we had hoped to spend at Opus turned into a reminder of how much good service and customer care matter. I wanted Opus to prove my first impression wrong. Unfortunately, this experience only reinforced it. For a restaurant hosting specialty events, communication and customer service should be just as important as the food and drinks being served.
