Came here with a group of 10 people during our last night in New Orleans. We made a reservation and were seated promptly. We had to split into two tables, but they put us right beside each other. They had happy hour going on when we got there, and my friend was able to order 2 drinks for $5 each. For dinner our table ordered the cheeseburger, cheese board, charcuterie board, brown sage gnocchi, filet and mushroom and risotto dish. We got the creme brûlée for dessert. I sampled everyone's dish & everything was absolutely delicious. There were no complaints at the table, we all loved everything we were served. The service was great, we had two servers who worked with us during our time. Both were funny, kind and great with explaining the menu. Courtyard in the middle is super cute and quiet. A friend of ours was in New Orleans on business while we were vacationing. He grew up in New Orleans so he was familiar with the area. He recommended this place for dinner so we met him there. The hostess came to the bar to take us to our table when it was ready. The restaurant was nice with a casual atmosphere. Our server was friendly and the service was great. I can get chicken and steak at many restaurants so I wanted something different. I saw Black Drum on the menu and since I've never had it before thought it would be something different so I asked about it. I decided to try something new and ordered it. The grits in the shrimp and grits were tasty and creamy. We did however have amazing service during our visit. Amazing restaurant and a must-go if you're in New Orleans and walking around the French Quarter! We weren't able to get a reservation on a busy Saturday night but luckily, we were able to get 2 seats at the bar right before the dinner rush and we were able to have a full-service that way! We ordered the Gulf Fish Almondine as well as the Pasta Bouillabaisse! Both were terrific! We finished things off with their Tarte À La Bouille dessert!! Stumbled upon this place for Saturday brunch as a recommendation from our hotel concierge. We flew in that morning and were looking for a place for lunch. Tableau said we only needed to wait 30 minutes for a table so we waited, and I'm very glad we did. As soon as we sat we saw a second line pass the window from a wedding that took place across the street at the church in Jackson Square. I got the bottomless mimosa and my boyfriend ordered two dark & stormies. The steak and eggs were amazing! And during our meal a jazz band came by to our table and played Metallica for us. Not as good as Muriel's, but still very good food in a good location. It is on the fancy side, but I went in wearing jeans and no one swooned or freaked out. The servers were so nice and made it a fun experience. They poured my turtle soup into the bowl at the table. The salad on the red fish had just the hint of truffle, and didn't become overwhelming. Use the fingerling potatoes to help mop up the sauce and fish that flakes off... yum! Our table faced the chef, and you can see into the kitchen. There may be a theatre next door but the real show was in the kitchen. Never have I seen someone in charge look so puzzled without any impact to the rest of the operation. The meal was mediocre, and the only option for the vegetarian in the group was tired pasta and the day's vegetables--no sauce, no imagination. My tournados (filet mignon) was listed to have foie gras, which I declined. So I got two, under seasoned slabs of beef. We dropped over 300.00 on a meal that was sub par. A damned shame. Fine dining that won't break the bank.. Came here for my birthday dinner with two other people. Sangria was mediocre as was the gumbo, however the french onion soup was surprisingly very good! All three of us were stuck on ordering the Filet a la Oscar and we are so happy we did. The steak sat on top of a fried potato and practically melted in your mouth. The asparagus that was served with it was probably the best asparagus I've had! I was so full I wasn't going to order dessert but since it was my birthday they gave me a creme brûlée which was ok, wish it was in a deeper plate as the heat made the whole dessert too warm rather than the center being cold and creamy. I had a great time at brunch at Tableau! It's a really fun atmosphere-there's even a jazz band that comes around to each table and serenades you with a jazz rendition of a song of your choice. Being that I'm originally from NY, I asked them to do "New York, New York" and they were awesome! On to the food, it was good but not the best. I got the crystal shrimp and Spanish frittata. My friends got the grande royal (sampler), gumbo and a chicken dish. The shrimp was good and I really liked the sauce, but I just wasn't blown away. And the frittata was undercooked (the potatoes were still hard and the eggs were runny) so I didn't eat much of it. We did get the bananas foster cheesecake for dessert however and it was phenomenal. With all of this said, even though I didn't particularly love the food, I did really like it and because of how good everything else was (atmosphere, service, staff friendliness, etc) they definitely deserve 4 stars! read more

That was very lame. And the lady who is supposed to be an hostess she look at me from head to toe. Because I wasn't dress up for this place. But, if you did happen to just get a nice little bonus the last paycheck and though tonight's the night... well,... move on cause this place is shockingly cheap (and yummy)!!! Fleur du Paradis $11 "house made thyme kombucha, Hendrick's gin, Lillet Blanc": This was my cocktail, obviously, cause you know how much I love kombucha. Yes, kombucha! in a cocktail!!! Unfortunately the kombucha kick was not really prominent. There is a slight bitterness, and overall tastes like a slightly alcoholic bitter lemonade. 6/10 2. Tableau Pimm's Cup $8 "Pimm's #1, Gingeroo, cucumber": Now we're talking! I think this might have been the best Pimm's Cup we've had during our whole trip here, and as you know, any prolonged trip here means crap tons of Pimm's cups so I definitely have some comparisons to pass judgement. This one has a hint of Bloody Mary flavor lending to a rich taste. I can't taste the cucumber though, however I do see the slices. It's tart. It's strong. But all still balanced. Awesome. 9/10 3. Pan-Roasted Veal Loin Chop $36 "arugula and radish salad, heirloom yellow grits, rosemary, sauce Choron": I asked for medium-rare, and that's exactly what they gave me. But alas, the flesh was ultra soft and pillowy, and I think with that kind of body a bit more cooking would lend more texture. Order "medium"--trust me. The exterior is perfectly crunchy. The heirloom grits were delicious--almost tastes like there was some couscous mixed in with mustard seeds. Love that texture which had good grit and still stayed so creamy. Loved this dish! 9/10 4. Chicken Tableau $24 "herb-roasted chicken breast, crispy thigh, potatoes Tableau, Bearnaise, chicken demi-glace": Well this was special! The dark meat was fried in a very thick, super textured batter. Black. Like really tar black, but didn't taste a hint burnt. And OH GOD... was it frickin' crazy juicy! Just melted in my mouth. And they weren't kidding about the breast being herb-roasted!--herbs abound. I couldn't even tell you which herbs they used, but it was so delicious. Even loved their long and thin potatoes, which was seasoned to perfection. Heck, I think this might have been overall the best plate of chicken I've ever had! 10/10 5. Decaf Coffee $3 6. White Chocolate Bread Pudding $7: This wasn't on the menu. Guess it was this day's special. Well, after all that amazingness, this one was a bit of a let-down. The presentation was super messy. To me the bread pudding had no texture or particular taste (gf disagrees.) I did appreciate the abundant rum flavor in the sauce though. I would have given a lower score, but my gf actually liked this dessert, so... 4/10 This has got to be one of the best values in the French Quarter. Do not hesitate to come, whether you're feeling fancy or feeling like saving a bit. Whew!!! I had a blast at Tableau. The BBQ shrimp and grits were out of this world. I was obsessed! The sauce was everything I needed and more. I also really loved the truffle crab claws as a starter. Light, yet full of flavor. I sat on the upstairs patio overlooking all of the festivities, which was super cool. To top it off, I also tried the creme brulee (with the signature T). I came here with a bachelor crew and found the food to be awful. I could not eat my entree and the other two different entrees weren't cooked correctly. One steak was so salty it was not edible and another steak was cooked not even close to specification. It's close to the French Quarter but the inside of the restaurant where we sat was annoyingly loud as the waiters and bussers were shouting random orders around. I wouldn't by choice ever come back. After going to another restaurant that also served crab claws we quickly learned that these just don't compare. My mouth is watering just thinking about these little gems as I write this review. After an 8 hour drive, my Mother and I finally arrived in New Orleans ready to wine and dine! Tableau was our first stop and it sure set the bar high. As soon as we walked through the door, the friendly staff instantly made us feel welcome. Our waitress was extremely helpful, walking us through the menu and telling us about the history of the building (ghost stories and all!). Everything on the menu sounded delicious, but we ultimately decided on the following: Brown butter gnocchi, Gulf Fish, BBQ shrimp and grits, creme brulee, and tart a la bouille. The portions were plentiful and the food was very fresh. The restaurant was clean and we were more than adequately socially distanced from surrounding tables. I highly recommend Tableau for dinner! I've dined at Tableau twice. The first time was years ago for a birthday dinner. I remember liking my experience overall but can't remember the food (we had a lot of drinks and I don't actually remember most of the night). Yesterday, my best friend was visiting from out of town and suggested Tableau for dinner. I decided it'd be a good time to refresh my memory of the restaurant. Our experience was excellent. The service was great and they definitely took care of us. We started with the Demi Royale appetizer which was delicious. It consisted of gulf shrimp remoulade, truffle crab claws and crabmeat ravigote. I didn't try the shrimp because of the remoulade sauce (dairy sensitivity) but both the crab claws and crabmeat ravigote were full of flavor. For my entree, I got the Black Drum and my friend had the Redfish Bienville upon the server's recommendation. They replaced the citrus beurre blanc sauce with a citrus vinaigrette for me and it was really good. The fish was light and fluffy and melted in my mouth. The roasted vegetables were a nice complement to the drum. I sampled my friend's redfish and it was equally tasty. She added lump crabmeat on top which balanced the dish out even better in my opinion. What I liked most was that Tableau's dishes had a Creole twist but didn't feel too heavy like many traditional New Orleans dishes. I also thought the prices were very reasonable for a white tablecloth restaurant in the Quarter. I'd definitely return. read more

Kicking myself for not having any pics here! Looking for something chill and low key on a Wednesday night. Full moon out. Howls in the streets. A neighbor recommended tableau so I decided to walk by and check it out. Few people eating inside and on the balcony, but no issue getting a balcony table. It was perfect! My husband and I stopped by here during a shift change. The host could not have been nicer and even gave us a tour of the whole place as we were thinking of hosting a dinner there for a group. We sat in the courtyard and enjoyed oysters, crab claws and peach and blueberry cobbler pie. The service was great and the food was excellent. It's nice on the balcony so you can soak up all the activity going on down below such as the jazz bands and local artists. The staff here are friendly, and the good was exceptional. We ordered mocktails, one being a redhead (ginger beer, peach, lemon and lime) and tableau lemonade (ginger beer, lemon, and lime) and they were a nice drink when not wanting to actually drink. Every table is served a Free bread loaf and whipped butter. The bread is nice and soft on the inside with a good crispness on the outside. We ordered the prime rib po boy and bbq shrimp and grits. Beautiful spot next to Jackson Square to dine in. We had a wonderful waitress to take care of us. The Mason Salad was great. The chicken and sausage gumbo was okay. We got the risotto with grilled chicken to share but we didn't like it much. Stopped in for a cocktail as part of a walking/eating/drinking tour of the French district. The setting is incredibly elegant and there are bars on two floors. One of my favorite restaurants in the entire city. From food, service, to atmosphere, this checks it all for me. Ate dinner here for a bachelorette party and they were incredibly accommodating to all 14 of us and did an amazing job making the bride feel celebrated. Really yummy craft cocktails and great plates to share. Have the most fun second floor balcony! Hosted a birthday brunch in the green room upstairs, and it was so memorable. When we told our waitress we were missing items, instead of having that sense of urgency and apologizing, she made up excuses. My fiancé and I stopped in here on a whim, and since it was a nice day outside, we requested to sit outside on the balcony on the 2nd floor. The hostess told us about 15-20 mins to wait, and so we went upstairs to grab a drink at the bar. My fiancé got the Hot Buttered Rum (DELICIOUS) and I got a drink that was also delicious (but of course I can't remember the name now). The ambiance of this place is wonderful. Not overcrowded, and clean. Pros: Oysters were delicious, and our chicken tableau was full of flavor and we requested to split it, so they even put it in different dishes for us. We were stuffed even with the half-portion! The mimosas we ordered were also great too, definitely didn't skimp out on the champagne like some places do! Cons: Our waitstaff seemed flustered and we had two waitresses that didn't seem to communicate with each other very well. Tipping was hard because we weren't sure who our waitress even was. It took them about 10 minutes after we got seated outside to even acknowledge us.
