Absolutely ADORED this little restaurant. We stopped in for the bottle cap craft, where we were able to sit right on the water with a beautiful view and a fun little activity. Shortly after we walked upstairs for lunch. Our server, Jodi, was truly amazing. She was so kind and the food she recommended was delightful. If you stop here, definitely ask for her. Love this place, come at least once a year. Great atmosphere even though on back bay and not on the beach, but breezy. Food is beach priced, but it's all good. Service always on point, so do highly recommend this place just for that. Alligator pretty good, so is crawfish, Nachos are a hell of a meal alone. read more

Great views while waiting, amazing service and even better food! We will always visit Tacky Jacks when on vacation!! Last night (7/29/23) we saw an otter at the boat dock swimming around! Hi! Bar manager from mobile who came in with a group of 12, all of us are servers and consider ourselves locals. Upon walking in, the host stand informed us we could sit inside and wait on a table / the GM Greg informed the host stand to just call the police and have us escorted out because "we don't get it" Greg, I do get it. I also run two bars, and I would completely understand being upset if you told any of us to leave but telling the host stand to call the police is insane and no way to run a business. We were waiting for a table, not being loud, or anything? None of us will ever be back. What a disgusting way to treat people. We all loved this place. Management is the #1 way to kill a business. Oh so dearly wonderful! Awesome place for children, adults , and the elderly. It's clean, and you can see the beautiful ocean. Such precious food. I got the crab cake dinner which was beautifully made. It contained luscious buttery green beans, crab cakes , and one other good side. Good service and everything. A precious place . Tacky Jacks has a great view. The service was okay. It took a long time to take our order with hardly anyone there. The royal red boil and the prime rib was our order. Tacky Jacks doesn't have butter, we asked, just whipped vegetable oil spread. Shrimp were delicious. We asked for cocktail sauce as the melted "butter" was not good. The corn was mushy and the red potatoes not as good without butter. The prime rib was a thin lunch portion and good. The baked potato useless without butter, imo and the dinner salad looked unappetizing, with mostly iceberg, chopped tomatoes and 2 frozen cucumber slices. 1000 island dressing was terrible. Trying to beat a thunderstorm we pulled up to Tacky Jacks by boat. How awesome and easy it was to dock and dine. It was the middle of the middle of day so it was not crazy busy. Mediocre at best. Wanted something on the water, gave it our best at being tourists the last day in OB. Reception staff fell flat, little to no greeting. Our server Lorenzo was enthusiastic and did well. We ate the crab claws (32.99!) as an appetizer, they were good. We also had a combo platter and shrimp platter along with a couple of bushwackers. This place was perfect for a Sunday brunch on the water. Everything else was packed with tourists and T Jacks got us in almost immediately. The wife had a Bloody Mary and I had sweet tea. The waitress recommended the breakfast burritos with bacon. They were excellent with their salsa. We enjoyed brunch as we watched boats come and go. Just a relaxing sunny Sunday morning in Alabama. Stopped by their gift store and got a UV protection shirt for fishing in the morning. What a great find. Good portions and fair prices, what a concept amongst some of the overpriced chain restaurants. Boycott those punks and eat more local. Cheers! read more

We barely made through the soggy nachos and lackluster gumbo then we figured you can't go wrong with firecracker shrimp. We couldn't eat it. This food isn't even something I would feel my dogs. This restaurant has a great location so it's too bad that their food is terrible. I asked for grouper since I'd never heard of their standard fish(swai). I didn't get grouper. I knew immediately as it tasted like catfish. I looked it up this morning and swai is an imported, Asian shark catfish. Additional information I found: Swai fish has a mediocre nutritional profile and may best be avoided. It's imported from densely-packed fish farms where chemicals and antibiotics are used in excess, causing water pollution and health concerns. It's sometimes mislabeled and sold as higher-value fish. We had a party of 10, we expected to have a short wait. But wow, a very unwelcoming hostess, and longer wait than expected made for the start of a disappointing night. The table was back in a corner, a ways from where our server was primarily working which meant the poor guy was being runned ragged. The food was nothing special, a couple people ordered the garbage nachos and they were barely covered with meat or cheese. While visiting the gulf coast, I had a taste for some fresh seafood and decided to try out Tacky Jacks. I started my meal with the Smoked Tuna Dip, and it was very refreshing and had a smooth, smoky flavor. I then ordered the grouper sandwich which came with a side of fries and house made chips. I ordered a side of ranch for my fries, and let me tell you, it was the homemade, runny ranch that makes you want to put it on everything. The grouper was blackened and I really enjoyed the flavor and overall quality, including the brioche bun. The only downside to my experience was that smoking was allowed on the patio seating. The view was beautiful, but the smell was not preferable. I will definitely return next time I'm in the area and would recommend this spot to anyone passing by! read more

This was our first time eating at Tacky Jacks and we were very pleased. The view is amazing right on the water. Our server was fantastic answering all of our questions and kept refilling our ice and drinks. The food was great. We ordered crab cakes and fried fish which were both excellent. I would start by suggesting that the inside section be assigned to a server instead of adding tables to servers with tables outside. There were three different waitresses for three tables inside and it appeared that everyone's service suffered. We'd be lucky to even see our waitress every 10 mins, so I had to get up in find her after waiting that long when our food came out incorrect and missing part. We ordered the short stack (missing bacon, syrup and butter) and the shrimp burrito (missing sour cream, and other accoutrement). Between the time it took to "figure out who was going to wait on us", and waiting to get their attention for the check, as well as the food errors ("we,ve only had this menu for two days"; Really? We've been coming for years and ordering the same thing), we wasted at least a half an hour. This is not the first time the service has been subpar, but the combination of the food being wrong and cold by the time it got to us, we aren't planning on going back. read more
