Had to do a quick drive thru order a few days ago as I was craving nachos (no beans). The drive thru line was short and the outside of the store was neat and clean. The menu outside is clear as well. Britney (per my receipt) took my order and was very cheerful on the speaker and in person too! She even said hi to my kiddo from the window.

When did fast food become expensive... Maybe it is Taco Bell corporate but nacho bellgrande had 22chips and barely filled half the container. Both locos tacos could be folded closed so barely half full... $18 that's messed up. No joke the twenty piece nuggets at McDonald's is half the cost and by far more food... For background I was a Taco Bell fiend and it's been once sonce the pandemic. All I can say is back to never visiting

I enjoy this location a lot because of the staff. The people I usually see are always super nice and real. I don't mind if they need a moment of silence or want to chat but I enjoy the authenticity and the fact that we see each other enough that they're real with me. The food is fine and I never have any issues. Some of the complaints I've seen are regarding the wait times and I know that they're short staffed more often than not so understanding d that it may be a little bit of a wait on occasion but I don't usually find myself waiting very long.

Second time I've ordered volcano tacos on the app and was told at the drive through kiosk that they were out of volcano (Lava) sauce. I could either get my order refunded and wait a few days for my money back or they offered a different sauce. I came for Volcano tacos and was expecting volcano lava sauce. Extremely disappointed that the app doesn't tell me before I place my order. This is the third bad experience at this location. Please fix the app or find a way to notify customers before hand.

No star if this allow for that selection. I understand the no cashier concept! But management in this establishment needs to train employees who face customers, supervisors or lead, how to communicate this concept to customer. Rather than being rude about it. Or have and freaking sign that you are not going to take the order and direct customer to use it!Customer service! ! You know, taking to customers! Anyway just another chain owner who doesn't care. Spells for rude employees!

Great attentive, warm service, great food, and wonderful value…read more I walked in, ordered, and was handed a tray. The tray was already set neatly with napkin, fork, a hefty portion of complimentary chips, a small dish of house-made salsa, and also a large salsa bottle! I enjoyed the multi-fruit-infused water. They have quite a bit of outdoor seating, and I appreciated how they had bottles of hand sanitizer around the restaurant where people touch cups and beverage machines. It's decorated with fitting, pretty artwork, and cute table cloths. I appreciated how the staff really cleaned the floor and tables around me as I ate. I ordered horchata agua fresca and 3 buche tacos ($6.99)! I believe they said it was beef stomach. The tacos were delicious with lots of meat and fresh onions. The salsa and chips were hearty and warm. Would be back if I'm ever in the area! They had a steady stream of customers who came in (both dining in and taking out) throughout the afternoon even though it was after the lunch rush.

I dined in and was given a generous portion of chips and a tomato-based salsa that was surprisingly spicy for a chips salsa. The salsa verde was tangy and well seasoned, whereas the red salsa was hot but well-balanced and not mean. My food came out quickly and the accompanying grilled jalapeño was a nice touch. The not so good: basically each of the tacos. The asada was very beefy and there was lots of it, definitely the best of the three. The carnitas were kind of bland and one-note with regards to the texture: no crispy bits, and definitely needed salsa to improve the flavor profile. The Al pastor was, unfortunately, my least favorite. There were several pieces of really chewy meat and the meat seemed to have an odd spice flavor, like cinnamon or another warming spice that kind of put me off. I really want to like this place and the actual experience was very pleasant! I saw some other guests order plates and fish burritos, both of which looked good. I'd definitely give this place another change but if you do go for tacos or regular burritos, I recommend sticking with the asada.

Loved: lengua, tripas, cabeza, and al pastor. Lengua was nice and soft, great with orange or brown sauce. Food (3 stars) + Tripa tacos are very delicious. Some places make these crispy. It's not here but still yummy in my tummy. ~ Burritos with carne asada and pastor is pretty good. However wifey got really sick. It's Mother's Day today and she's stuck in bed. I ate 1/4 of her burrito but I'm fine. So not sure how to rate this. Taste is pretty good. We asked for no beans so it's a bit plain but I still enjoyed it. - Gringas is like a quesadilla with pastor. It's alright but not worth $10+. I'd rather get 3 tacos! - Carne asada meat has a nice Smokey flavor. However it's jerky like toughness and a bit dry. - Someone in another review was raving about this place having the best Al pastor. So all of that hype made it a bit of a downer since I find it mid. Service (3 stars) + Typical food truck style ordering but it's more of a trailer. They have a little salsa bar with about 4-5 sauce options. Ambiance (2 stars) - Too many loud cars passing while we're eating. I can barely have a conversation with the wifey not that we have a ton to talk about lol. - No restrooms nearby. Daughter had to use an emergency toilet that we bring. - Terrible parking where people park behind you and you can't get out quickly. Yes, it takes them awhile to realize they're in your way.

Today, I decided to order the Chicken Fajitas, and it completely exceeded my expectations. Without a doubt, it was the most delicious fajitas dish I have ever had. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, the vegetables were cooked just right, and all the flavors came together beautifully. Everything was cooked to perfection. The portion size was very generous, and the sides were fantastic. The guacamole, sour cream, Spanish rice, and black beans were all fresh, flavorful, and complemented the meal perfectly. This was my very first visit to El Halal Mexican Restaurant in the heart of downtown Willow Glen,…read moreand I've been wanting to stop by for a while. I finally decided to give it a try after hearing about the restaurant from food reviewer Dave fiore text. As someone who absolutely loves tacos and is always on the hunt for great local taco spots, I was excited to see how this place compared to some of my favorites. I ordered four different tacos, and overall, they were pretty good. They weren't bad by any means, but they also didn't quite blow me away. The meat was cooked well, the tortillas were fresh, and the tacos had good flavor. The salsa was decent too, although I personally prefer something with a little more kick. Everyone has different tastes, so this is just my opinion. One thing I really appreciated was how clean and organized the restaurant was. You can tell they take pride in keeping the dining area nice and welcoming. The staff was friendly, and my food came out quickly. It's always a good sign when a restaurant pays attention to both cleanliness and customer service. I've eaten at a lot of taco places throughout the Bay Area, so I naturally compare every new place to some of my favorites. While El Halal Mexican Restaurant didn't make the top of my list, I still had a good experience and I'm glad I finally gave it a shot. Not every restaurant has to be your favorite to be worth visiting. I also like supporting family-owned businesses because I know how much hard work goes into running a local restaurant. They deserve credit for creating a clean, welcoming place and serving quality food. Will I come back? Maybe. If I do, I'd probably try something different on the menu instead of the tacos. Sometimes a restaurant's best dish isn't the first thing you order, and I'd be interested in seeing what else they have to offer. Overall, I'd give El Halal Mexican Restaurant a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It was a good experience, I'm happy I finally got to try it, and if you're in the Willow Glen area, it's worth stopping by and deciding for yourself.

There weren't that many options of sauces when I ate here but it was fine. The birrias and lengua tacos were so good. All the tacos came with two small tortillas to hold in the heaping amount of meat. The horchata here is had more cream than I'm used to. Like more milk was added or something, not enough spices or flavors added in IMO. Ordering was easy, I felt rushed, but it was the waiting to hear my number that was difficult. It was relatively empty, with only one other party seated at the time. Service was friendly and quick, and we got our food pretty quickly after ordering. It's got a quaint hole in the wall kind of vibe, but was still clean - though not very air conditioned. We missed it, but there was a salsa bar in the corner near the entrance. We were served complimentary salsa and chips - nice refreshing, tomatoey and lightly spicy salsa. We also got guacamole, which you could tell was freshly made, chunky and refreshing. Glad we got this, because it helped cut through how heavy the molcajete de mariscos we got was. We were NOT expecting how large the mocajete is - this can probably be split across 3 if not 4 people. It comes out boiling hot, and with 3 tortillas, and a side of beans and rice. When we ordered, they asked us if we would want more tortillas since it comes with only 3 - we didn't even finish the 3 it came with. The sauce was tasty, tomatoey and spicy, and it was chock full of mussels, squid, sooo many shrimp, a whole filet of fried fish, and other goodies - unfortunately most of the seafood was pretty dry/overcooked. It came out to about $60 for the two of us. Overall, the mocajete was fun to try, but I think next time I'd try some tacos or a burrito if I were to come back.
