If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I've eaten here several times, and while the food used to be tolerable, the quality has noticeably declined. The meat is consistently dry and appears to be of low quality. I understand that meat prices have increased, but proper preparation and seasoning go a long way. Everything seems to be overcooked to the point that it's tough and unappetizing. The customer service was also disappointing. The woman taking orders was rude, impatient, and seemed irritated when I asked questions about the menu. As someone who doesn't speak Spanish fluently, I was simply trying to understand the items and learn something new, but I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing her. The final straw was the "Super Quesadilla." My steak quesadilla had an immediate fishy taste. It tasted strongly of ceviche, leading me to believe there may be cross-contamination with seafood. The tomatoes and onions had the exact same flavor profile you'd expect in ceviche, which completely ruined the meal. I physically felt unwell and what's even worse is that there were fair amount of reviews warning me prior to my visit. Wasted calories, money and time. I ordered 5 "VEGAN chicken al pastor" tacos through DoorDash and unfortunately they were not vegan. At first glance it wasn't obvious, but after taking a bite the texture felt off, grainy and nothing like the usual vegan option. After looking closer, it became clear this was actual chicken. I called the restaurant to double check, and I was told there was "no way" it was chicken and that it was definitely vegan. That didn't sit right with me, so I went in person. As soon as the staff looked at it, they immediately confirmed it was chicken. I was then told it was likely a mix-up by a "new employee." That's honestly concerning. This isn't just a small mistake, serving real meat to someone who ordered vegan is a big deal. I haven't eaten chicken in years, and places that offer both vegan and non-vegan options should be especially careful about this. It also didn't feel like the seriousness of the mistake was fully understood, which made it worse. I do appreciate that they remade the tacos correctly on the spot, but this isn't the first issue I've had here just the most serious one. Because of that, I don't feel comfortable ordering from here again. If you have dietary restrictions, just be cautious. This kind of mix-up shouldn't happen. read more

My partner works in SF and raves about this place. He knows tacos are my favorite food so he was excited to have me taste them when we were staying in town for a concert. Talk about delicious late night eats! We had carne asada tacos (as is for me, no onions + cheese for him). I had an asada supreme quesadilla & it was love at first bite. Im a carne asada girl but I'm happy that they have an extensive Vegan menu too. I can add it to the list of places I'll take some of my friends when they're in town. They have multiple beyond meat options, jackfruit, tofu, and gardein chick'n. We door dashed and the prices were super high- I checked their menu online though and it's way cheaper if you go in person. I understand why businesses have to do this so no biggie. I'm not the biggest fan of their burritos (there are better options nearby), but their nacho fries are my go-to. Pro tip: order online and select fries on the side, then select chips as a side, for the perfect deconstructed nachos and crispy fries combo. Both the red and green salsas are on the mild side. Taco boys is my new favorite taco Tuesday spot, and probably the most vegetarian friendly taco spot I have ever been to!! I go here for taco tuesdays, where all tacos (meat and vegetarian) are 2 dollars! I think the deal ends around 730? But not all night sadly. The tacos are small, and I usually end up eating ~5, so it's a great deal. Otherwise it is more expensive other days and feels maybe less worth it ( I believe the fake meat ones are 4 dollars regularly). My favorite are the fake sausage, the vegan Al pastor, and vegan carne asada. Truly mind blowing, and such a great way for vegetarians to get their street taco fix without needing to eat meat! (there are sadly so few good alternatives). I've also tried the jackfruit and the vegan chorizo- I thought both were a little too sweet for my taste but my partner loved the vegan chorizo. I will also say that as a flexitarian (lol) I snuck a bite of my partners carne asada and Al pastor and we blown away by both. This place has something for vegetarians and meat eaters alike!! The cons- this place is tiny! Be prepared to either sit outside or struggle to find a table inside during peak taco Tuesday hours. A lot of people seem to get food to go, so that's an option. Overall though, 100% worth the struggle to get a seat, especially on a Tuesday. Have not found a better vegetarian spot than this one for excellent street tacos! read more

Came in around 1am. They have pretty limited indoor seating and also outdoor seating. There's a kiosk you can use to order right outside next to the door. My friend and I ordered carne asada fries to share with no pico de gallo. It was pretty busy so it took about 15 minutes for our food to be ready. Overall taste was pretty good, I wish there were more jalapenos, they're definitely a good addition to the dish!!!! We also ordered refried beans but got pinto beans. Had a long wait for the order here, as it was 20+ minutes from time of using the self-service machine to receiving our food. Also impacting the experience, was waiting/mini dining area started to get crowded with numerous people waiting for their order as well. Once we received our food, we used the tables outside the entrance (which weren't all that clean) to eat our meal. Unfortunately the wait wasn't the worst part of the visit, as my flautas were the worst I have had in my entire life. No flavor and a terrible aftertaste. My friends had items from the burrito and taco sections and were underwhelmed with the quantity and quality. Reviews here are good, so it is quite possible we visited on a very bad off night for Taco Boys, but we would bypass going here again. read more

We came from Sacramento for an after hours visit to the Conservatory of Flowers and needed something to eat late that was vegan friendly. We adore Mexican food, but it is hard finding vegan friendly food without tomatoes or cashews. I pretty much ordered a whole feast worth of food since I wouldn't be back to try any more for a while. They have the best selection of of vegan friendly protein I've ever seen. They also use VioLife cheese which I prefer over Daiya that is commonly used in vegan friendly places. Both the protein options and the cheese are so incredibly delicious. The only qualm I have is the ground beyond was pink and not cooked all the way, but my grandmother was fine eating it. The beyond tips are so delicious and they were cooked wonderfully, as well as the jackfruit carnitas and seitan. I have to say I think the quesadilla with beyond tips was my favorite. Soo perfect. Their vegan sour cream was good as well. We prefer the nachos over the loaded fries since they really add a lot of toppings (good thing), and the fries were soggy even after just getting them from the kitchen. If they had some of the toppings on the side, the fries would be a lot better. The tacos were so incredibly good we ordered 6 more to take home, but the carnitas jackfruit were inconsistently spicy. First taco I had wasn't spicy until the last few bites, but the ones I ordered after were really spicy throughout and inedible for me due to stomach issues. Their Jamaica is delicious. Lastly, although there isn't a lot of dining area and it isn't the best looking building, the staff make up for it . They were concerned about some of the items in our order since my food was labeled tomato allergy but the others I was with eat tomatoes. I wish I got her name, but the woman taking all the orders was so nice and very helpful. We 100% will visit again when back in town. Please open a Sacramento location!
