The Brav, as we like to call it, will always hold a special place in my heart. In line you will always see a cross section of the population, from cops to druggies to soccer moms to hookers. Taco Bravo brings people together. If you come here expecting too much you will be disappointed. It is what it is, and I love it! I would love to get the super nachos, but could barely get through the first layer before giving up, now they offer a smaller portion, which is AWESOME! We love the bean burritos and the taco delight. The soft tacos are great too! I really do suggest coming in the middle of the night to get the full experience. My gf and I went to Taco Bravo for 72 cent Tostada Tuesday. The place was built for ppl, who enjoy eating outside. For the food, close your eyes and imagine Taco Bell. Now, open your eyes and eat Taco Bravo. The main difference is Taco Bravo's portions are bigger. My gf and I got a hard taco and soft taco, bean burrito, 2 tostadas, and nacho. Around 7-10 years ago, I used to come here all the time, various hours of the day, and everyone was super friendly. Those people got it: they were busy, they may have been overworked and underpaid, but the customers were not their problem, they were just there to partake in the business' offerings (unless they got an A-hole customer. Those are not okay). I came here today because I recently started working nearby and was feeling nostalgic. Boy oh boy, how this place has changed. I walked up and the older woman behind the counter asked, "can I help you" but it was more like "what the f**k do you want?" I timidly approached her and gave her my order. Super nachos. I paused so she could punch the order into her register. She gave me a total. I asked to add a small coke. She sighed, scrunched her eyebrows, and gave me a new total. I gave her my money. As she was tendering me, some chick who heard me give my order handed me my food (the one good thing about this place is how fast it is). I said thank you. She didn't respond. She literally plopped my bag on the counter and walked away. Then the older woman who took my order gave me a napkin and a spoon (yes a spoon for nachos) and walked away. This whole time, a guy with dark hair and eyeglasses who was working in the back, seemed to scowl at me every time I looked at him (I avoided looking at him). The food is THE BEST when you feel like grubbin' or you are drunk (and drunkness usually leads to grubbiness - so there you go). But the food is not quality whatsoever. It is plentiful, so the value is there, but it is sloppy and bland. I realized as I sat at one of their dinky plastic tables and ate my food, that sub par food starts to taste downright disgusting when you feel so unwelcome at a place. I couldn't figure out why they were called the cockroach burritos... then we went there while it was still light outside and low and behold i saw my first ever cockroach. I swear nothing else will satisfy a craving for fluff cheese the way Taco Bravo does though. Had to wait to post until I was able to experience the $0.99 Taco Thursday! Still love this place! But for me, no need for Thursday's. I like their Chicken Tacos and Mild Bean Burrito. Neither have any type of discount. Usually a really reasonable, fast moving, line - Thursday's are packed. Flavorable meat, fresh crunchy taco shells, yummy refried beans and fresh flour tortillas. They have to make a ton of meat tacos on Thursday's, so expect some of your taco shells to be shattered. Limited outdoor seating and shared parking lot with Weinersnietzel (sp?!), so can be a lot that requires patience. Want quick, really yummy Mexican food, for a great price? Check this place out! Food was ok. But that is not my problem with this place. I got food poisoning not from the food because my husband had the same thing. But from the soda. I did some research to make it was that. And 90% of soda fountain's in the US have a bacteria in it the same that grows on fecal matter. Due to not cleaning it well. And can cause stomach upset, bloating and diarrhea. I will preface this with the fact that food is always good and usually I have no problems at this Taco Bravo when it comes to customer service. I got one of the rudest treatments I have ever have. The guy at the window (heavily tattooed arms) took my order then bagged it. He put like 7 hot sauces in my bag. I told him that I didn't need any sauce. He took out about 3. He then handed the food to me. I took the remaining sauces out of my bag the he'd left in there and put them back just inside the window on the counter. This guy took his hand and just hurled the sauces all over the ground near our feet. I mean my God. He could have just pushed them into the trash. Also his gloves were filthy with dirt and he touches the cash and then bags the food. I told my Sister who was ordering after me that it is illegal to touch cash and then anything else with those same gloves. He must have heard me because he peeled off his really dirty gloves and then bagged my Sister's food. This guy might have been having a bad day but that was just very rude. read more

I'd call this a 3.5 star place, so I bumped it up to 4. Went for Taco Thursday, with $0.99 tacos. There was a line, as a bunch of other people had the same idea. You walk up and say "I need 16 tacos" and a few minutes later you have a bag full of tacos. The tacos are just ground beef, lettuce, and cheese on a crunchy taco shell. Think a small step up from Taco Bell. The salsa is in a coffee thermos that you pump into plastic cups, but it is decent. Ok so this is how this works. I am giving this place all stars because it is cheap on my wallet and it is better than taco bell. I get only the super taco or super burrito. I don't know what it is about their hot sause but it is really good to me. I always get extra containers of it when I am there. If you like lots of chesse this place has got you covered. I took my lady here who generally does not eat at fast food places. I think this is common for woman now days. Anyway we got super tacos and she wanted extra chesse. Anyone who has been here will note they do not skimp on chesse. I told her to hold off on the extras and go for the normal super taco. She ended up loving it. Taco Bravo has been around forever, and has always had good food. Since their employees now actually wash their hands between money-handling and food service, and I no longer get ill eating there, I recommend their fare. Super Nachos FTW. Having grown up visiting Campbell from Santa Cruz and then later on moving to Los Gatos we always Thumbed our nose at taco bravo. It wasn't until years later when Im in town on business, that I would get desperate one late night and was sick of Denny's that I tried out. Sure enough this place is awesome! I have been going to Taco Bravo on Bascom Avenue since forever... well since 1998. The quality of food was always good. The building is an Original Taco Bell building from back in the 1970's, but the service is top notch. Burritos were larger than what you get at most places, their Nachos... the Best.. not many places use both shredded cheese and nacho cheese sauce. The management was a bit wacky but honestly that was one of the reasons for coming back time after time. would I recommend this place to friends.. Heck Yeah.. Ah, Taco Bravo. "The Brav." It's something of an infamous legend amongst party people in the South Bay Area. At a previous workplace, folks would talk about it quite a bit, and speak of hallowed days where the strippers from the Pink Poodle down the street would visit it after their shift. I've yet to see anyone identifiable as a stripper at Taco Bravo, but I will say that I've been there plenty of times -- probably 40 times -- and consumed plenty of their food. Even so, you'll still find an abundance of floppy-boobed bleached blondes with barely masked crows feet no matter when you go. Their food is simply okay. I'm okay with that, my friends are okay with that, and I'm sure the staff is aware of it and also okay with it. You don't go to Taco Bravo because you're looking for fine dining, fair dining, healthy dining, or even food, really. You just want to swallow something that will change those pains of hunger into some other kind of pain, while giving you the bloated feeling of contentment that you desire - usually when highly intoxicated, sweaty, and laughing like an idiot while the guy behind the Plexiglas window tolerates your questions about the stains on his apron. Let me say that many reviewers focus on this establishment being a place to go when drunk. I had no idea this was such a prevalent perspective, but it's generally mine. Because, ya know. When it's daytime, odds are you're not a drunk - unless you're a career alcoholic, but if you are, what the hell are you doing in downtown Campbell? Anyways, contrary to what a large number of people say, I've never had stomach issues after eating there. I can't help but think that there's a strong correlation between people getting ridiculously drunk, and people eating super greasy food in the middle of the night. And at the least, any claims about "butt mudd" have to be the result of the high oil content of the meat, as opposed to any prevalence of microbes in it. I can only assume the bean and meat burrito filling's strong visual similarity to poo is what creates some kind of mental association in people's minds, and when they've been out all night, slamming irish carbomb oyster shooter whiskey sours after shaking their more-than-plentiful-but-still-too-much booty to hyphy buttrock at the local divebar. Uh, where was I going with this? Anyways, it's terrible food, but you'll love it when drunk, it will become an inside jokes of sorts with your drinking pals, and you'll keep coming back even though you feel like a cheap whore in the morning. Let's look over some of the food items they have, shall we? The Super Taco. This, in my opinion, is the most palatable of the items on their menu. An oddly long, crisp taco shell, stuffed with greasy, spiced meat, lots of cold, grated mild cheddar cheese, and just enough lettuce to let you know that you're eating something organic. Tip this baby at any semblance of an angle, and the pre-greased taco shell will allow everything to slide off like a tubby kid at Raging Waters. There's definitely an art, nay, a skill to eating one of these. But ya know, eating anything can be a challenge depending on how drunk you are. It's all I could do not to accidentally jam the end of the shell into a nostril one night after repeating missed at my mouth. It tastes pretty good. The Nachos Bulk bagged tortilla chips covered in bulk $6 for ten gallon cheese by-product that doesn't even meet half the quality of velveeta with a hearty handful of pickled bulk jalapeno discs thrown on top. Usually comes in a little cardboard tray with a layer of saran wrap over the top that about a fifth of the cheese ends up adhering to, making it difficult to handle with the pendulously cheese weighted wrap slaps against your wrist, staining your clothes. It's only good for the first couple minutes, then it cools off and solidifies into a brick of cheese with chips embedded in it. Super Nachos The above, but with more stuff. Turns into an even bigger brick when it cools off, and because of its size there's pretty much no way to eat it all before this happens. Ya know, I don't even want to review any more of the items. Go there for the experience. Go there to say you did. Go there because you enjoy exercising poor judgment and seeing the frequently comical consequences of this, usually resulting in you walking home without pants, wearing plastic bag shoes. read more

This is the best place to get cheap American Mexican style food. It's like Taco Bell with way more flavor and way more cheese. Plus the portions are huge. Anyone who writes a bad review is just being picky and expecting authentic or restaurant style food. This is a place to get grubbin late night after drinking type food.
