We ordered takeout from Taco Rico Tex-Mex Cafe and got the chicken fajitas. The food itself was very good; flavorful, fresh, and nicely cooked. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant also appeared clean and well kept.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service, however, was just okay. I initially didn't receive pico de gallo and had to ask for it, and although I ordered two fajita meals, I was only given one; a mistake I unfortunately didn't notice until I got home. Additionally, there was a customer ahead of me whose order took a very long time due to multiple unusual requests. During that time, staff waited on that one order instead of assisting other customers, which caused an unnecessary delay. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but the service and order accuracy could definitely use some improvement

Lunch special, chicken taco, chicken burrito, rice & beans, chips $10.99

I ordered takeout from Taco Rico after seeing their awesome lunch specials on their website, and I'm so glad I did! I got the chicken taco and burrito combo with rice and beans for just $10.99, which was a great deal! The combo also came with a small bag of tortilla chips and salsa. The portions were generous, and the food was ready right on time--pickup couldn't have been easier. Everything was hot, fresh, and seriously tasty. If you like spice, you'll want to add hot sauce (which I did), but overall, everything hit the spot. Great value, friendly service, and yummy food!

Terrible food and worst service. Do not go here! Food had a piece of hair in it and they refused to replace it. Do not recommend.

Parking was a bit challenging due to the limited number of spaces, but once we walked inside, the experience more than made up for it. We were warmly greeted by Carolina, who also became our server. She was incredibly patient and took her time walking us through the menu, explaining each dish and how everything is prepared. Her dedication to customer satisfaction truly stood out, and we hope management recognizes what an asset she is. Carolina proudly shared that every item on the menu is made in‑house, and it absolutely shows. My wife ordered the Quesadilla de Pollo with a side of Arroz Mexicano and couldn't stop talking about the exceptional flavors. I chose the Tostada al Pastor, a small Tortilla Soup, and a side salad. Everything was delicious, but the Tortilla Soup was the star of the meal--a perfect example of why in‑house preparation matters. Since we're not from the area, we weren't sure where to go for lunch, and we truly lucked out choosing Don Maguey--and having Carolina as our server. Thank you, Carolina. As the banner on the app says, MEXICAN FOOD MADE WITH LOVE, and our visit proved it.

When I looked 20 minutes after at my credit card statement read I had been charged $77 and change pending a potential tip on top of that, even with tip included it is still over approximately $7 what I signed off for. We called to determine the prices of each individual meal and "the manager" was stumbling to tell us the prices for everything. Even with the fake numbers that were given to us it still didn't add up correctly. I remember the prices for the 3 meals my family and I ordered and I remember what the check said. I let it be because maybe they need more than I do. As for the food, I'm born and raised on the border of Mexico and although I must say it does scream authenticity especially on appearance the meat is bland, and that "Mexican rice" is by far the worst tasting rice I've had. For a casual person that likes Mexican food you may like it, but if you know what you're tasting you will not. Also, they didn't have 4 different things on the menu available ultimately leading me to have to go with my 5th option. It is very expensive for what it is, and even more expensive when your waitress manipulates the system.

It's…read moreconsistently great, family-oriented, and has that calm, welcoming energy that makes it perfect for a quiet night out when you just want really good tacos without the noise or hype. The tacos are always on point. Perfectly cooked tortillas, generous fillings, and bold, comforting flavors that feel homemade in the best way. The birria-style tacos were especially satisfying, rich and tender with just the right amount of crisp on the outside, paired with a flavorful dipping sauce that takes them to the next level. Simple, messy, and exactly what you want a taco to be. The sides hit too. The rice and beans are classic, well-seasoned, and clearly made with care, not an afterthought. Everything on the tray feels balanced and filling without being heavy. What really makes Taco Rico special is the vibe. It's relaxed, low-key, and genuinely family-friendly. You can take your time, enjoy a beer, have a conversation, and actually hear the people you're with. It's the kind of place that feels like a neighborhood staple rather than a trendy stop. If you're looking for a reliable, no-fuss taco escape on Bird Road with consistently great food and a calm atmosphere, Taco Rico is it. Their tacos are not bad but for street tacos they are pricey even during happy hour. They charge a standard 18% gratuity. They might as well charge that fee into the food price because it is mandatory but most likely they separate the line item to avoid additional sales tax on revenue. The place is dark and dingy for a highly rated place. After this first day experience in south beach im avoiding any of the other popular tourist restaurants for the rest of my stay.
