I'm not a Mexican food fan but my wife is. The place looked and smelled good so we decided to give it a try. I'm so glad we did. Chips are good but the salsa is amazing. Very mild and full of flavor. I ordered the Armando's Chicken Bowl with pinto beans. This was the best Mexican food dish I have ever eaten, and I live in Arizona. That says a lot. A male server told us to have a seat anywhere and where we took a seat he came back and apologized that they were gonna seat a party of 4 there so we had to move... Sat and waited for 5 minute for a female server who didn't say hi or welcome went straight into "any drinks? Ready to order?" Wow great service.. Waited 10 minutes for our food, not too bad for a semi busy Friday night. Another female server walked right past us with our plates and she didn't know what table they were for so she brought them back to the window and left them there for another server to run the food. As soon as I got to the outside of the location it looks like a hole in a wall dump as we walked in my whole demeanor changed as soon as I walked in a young lady by the name of Jazmin smiled and welcomed me to taco surf. We decided to sit at the "bar" not even 2 minutes went by and a young man named Franky approached us and asked us if we wanted anything to drink before we could even continue our conversation the drinks were right in front of us, kudos for that he set the standard high for the next restaurant I review. A few minutes went by and Franky was back asking if we were ready to place an order my father in law is a very picky with his food but Franky was a amazing with his suggestion on what he thought we would like based on our input. After the order was placed it was about 10 minutes and we were enjoying our dinner. Super long review but like people say don't judge a book by its cover if your around the area and want delicious Mexican food with amazing service don't think about it twice and go with Taco Surf not a local but anytime I'm around here that is gonna be my number one choice they have a customer for life! read more

Been there twice for what it is worth. Both time have had the fish tacos. The first time was the small & cheap happy hour street tacos and they were good. The second time the regular menu tacos and the fish was really fishy which I interpreted as anything but fresh. The tamale I had was really dry and bland, but the chile relleno was amazing. The best I have had since my mother-in-law's kitchen and my wife agreed. Service was adequate. Chips and salsa are decent. Tends to be crowded and there could be a wait involved. read more

Happy Hour is 'da bomb. My DH and I love the casual atmosphere here and like to order a couple of tacos washed down with Mexican beer followed by a stroll down the pier. This branch is better than the others. The atmosphere is nice, the service is great (I don't know why others here say it's not), and the food is fine. It's not great, but it hits the spot when you want Mexican. Their chips are excellent, and they make them there (I think). The prices are great and the waitresses are friendly. It can be busy, but don't be stupid and go there at 6pm. Wait until a little later or go for an earlier dinner and you'll be fine. Oh, and if you're nice, they'll put the TV on whatever game you want. :) This is a great place for lunch too... sit at the bar and watch the mid-day Sports Center on ESPN, then get back to your day. Waitress was friendly, big portion. Had the alamo burrito with shredded beef. The burrito was big, and loaded with big chunks of shredded beef. Thats my gripe is there was to much shredded beef, and it wasn't that good. Tasted just like normal beef. read more

Taco surf in Seal Beach is one of several Taco Surf locations in the area. It's a funky little , and I mean little, place. Most recently I found myself in Seal Beach on a Saturday morning looking for a breakfast burrito. I know this can be an illusive hunt in Seal Beach. I don't want to go to one of the bigger places in town, I want Mexican from a Mexican place. There is onlt two Mexican places in town and El Burrito Jr. isn't open until 11 AM and they don't do breakfast. It was about 10:30 and Taco Surf was open so I walked in. Looked like I was the first customer of the morning so I had my choice of places to sit. I choose the counter area. Without looking at the menu I asked the waiter for an ice tea and a egg, bean and cheese burrito. Nothing fancy really. I like simple. As I waited I enjoyed my tea and chips and salsa and watched T.V.. Good stuff. I sensed my order was almost ready and the waiter came back and asked me if I wanted my eggs on the outside. Ugh. No, I ordered a egg, bean and cheese burrito, I want them on the inside. The end result was I guess they had to cook my breakfast all over again. When It finally came it turned out to be a wet burrito, one with sauce on top. This was OK, but I would have preferred dry. The burrito was very average, but it was simple! The sauce on top didn't seem warm, which kind of took away from the whole thing. It was $12 and change for what I ordered which I think is high. All in all I may come back again, but for lunch or dinner. read more

The location is on Main st and a few steps from the pier. Parking can be a pain so be patient and keep driving around. the hostess seemed high. we went there around noontime on a sunday and asked for a table for 4. she looked around, said nothing was available but we could sit at the bar. uh.. so how long is the wait for table? she didn't even give it to us as an option/made it seem like it wasn't an option! she just seemed very out of it and not very accomodating. our waitress was okay. the food is very so-so. my brother and his wife got entrees that involved the fried fish and it looked super breaded and over-fried. they said they've definitely had better. my hubby had the three tacos and well, he eats anything anyways. i had the steak fajitas and it was fine. nothing special, nothing terrible. wouldn't go back though. read more

We almost missed this place because it just blends in with the other shops it's squeezed between and there's not much of a sign to tell you what's inside. And yes, it's really tiny, but that's kind of part of it's charm. What impressed me the most about Taco Surf was the amazing service. The chips and salsa were replenished without our ever having to ask, ditto for the drinks. Of course we had our own waitress, but everybody else was pitching in whenever they needed to so nobody had to wait very long. The staff all seemed to work really well together. The food was pretty terrific, too. I have to agree with another poster that you have to be careful not to fill up on the delicious chips & salsa because the food portions are pretty generous and you don't want to miss out!
