I always get (hard shell) shredded beef tacos here! It's so hard to find authentic Mexican food period! And I love how they include fresh avocado with in my dish. Everything's very consistent ! Best place to eat in La Mirada. only one problem we do not speak Spanish. would like to feel welcome by orders being taken in English and if we ask what is in the food. We get an answer. Authentic Mexican food with delicious flavor. My kids loved their chicken tacos dorados and believe me, they can be picky eaters. The carne en su jugo was on point and my husband said his carne asada burrito was very good. I've had the horchata, Jamaica and tamarindo aguas and the flavor was legit. I highly recommend this location. The food is alright, too bad Irene the so called manager is very rude, she wont let you speak to the owner because according to her the owner does not take customer complaints. Also be aware of their secret phrases, they do stuff to your food using these phrases. For example if they say con mucho amor it really means make your drink extra sugary (3 large spoon full) so that you cant drink it. Do not eat here. I ordered chilequiles this morning for breakfast ate around 9ish. Around noon my stomach felt so big and was bulging and I wasn't hungry at all which isn't normal. Around 2 I didn't feel good so I tried to sleep it off. 4pm I had bad diarrhea. Shortly after I threw up all the food. I have chills upset stomach and nausea. This is the worst. From what I was told my sisters kids had same reaction eating here not too long ago. This is gross. read more

I was on here because I'm going to go eat rn and I remembered I ate here a couple mornings ago. I ordered a pozole, menudo, and asada tacos. They said after 5 min hey we dont have the tacos would you like another meat. I said no a breakfast is okay with sausage and bacon and a pancake. They said pay the difference it's $5 something after I had payed for the tacos they couldn't provide me. It was kind of embarrassing so I said no thank you and got a refund and left. The Market across the street can help you with your needs that El Rey lacks to provide. read more

Good flavor but it is way expensive for the size of the meal, you need to order 2 plates if you want to feel well fed. If you want a soda refill you get charged. You don't usually see that in many places. You can find better places for tora ahogada, I would say is not an authentic torta ahogada. read more

I give this place a 3.5. I'll explain... First, this place had no freakin parking. You gotta be kidding me! I've never seen anything like it in Orange County. There's a Conroy's that have a bunch of spaces , but a bunch of signs saying you'll be towed if you park there. There is an auto shop and another (I think) smog check place. It's filled with cars. They have 4 parking spaces in front of Taco's El Rey. FOUR! Only FOUR! And included in that 4 is a handicap spot. So, I say only THREE parking spots! Only THREE!!! There was a car double parked to pick up food... Where are we... Boston? Double-parked? This is like being in LA... only you'd never double-park in LA. The main thing I hate about LA is not the traffic. It's the parking. I'm in La MIrada, but I feel like I'm in the thick of LA. That sucks! I walked in and was pleasantly surprised. The place was pretty packed with Mexican people. That's a good sign. They had stuff on the menu just in Spanish that they didn't even bother to translate at time into English. I asked what was good. They said the taco's and sopes. I ordered 3 tacos: Lengua, Tripas, & Asada. Here's the Second problem. I ordered 3 tacos. It took them like 10 minutes to get me the food. Am I at El Taurino? Am I at King Taco where I expect a lil longer wait for quality Mexican food. I'd understand 5 minutes. But 10 minutes was a bit long. It took too long, I was hungry, and I needed to get somewhere else. Now about the food. The chunks of lengua were pretty big. Bigger than I expected. It was so big that the lengua started licking me back... Haha! J/K! That's gross, even for me. The carne asada was definitely above average. I've had better, but it was solid... pretty good. The outstanding meat of the 3 was the tripas. Probably one of the best tripas I've ever eaten in my life. Not overly gummy or chewy. Tender enough, super flavorful, cooked to perfection... I was impressed. If it wasn't for the parking, the long wait, and honestly mediocre green sauce... I'd have given this place an easy 4. It was excellent and inexpensive. I had two Carne Asado and two Pollo tacos, $1.39 each plus natural OJ. They had a nice selection of natural juices at good price, $2.00. The meat was much better than I expected for $1.39. The service was fast and courteous. The topping bar was basic, but had everything I needed (lime, radish, red/green sauce). The tacos come with oniions and cilantro already on them. I will be back. Places like this would do great where I am from, South FL, but for some reason they don't exist down there. read more

I ordered Mole and the Cashier replied very rude and short "we don't have any" I asked her why. Hate to do this, but they deserve it. I have ate here at least half a dozen times since my review. Each and every visit since, the food and service has gotten worse. They completely did away with their avocado salsa, which really added to the food. and was one of my favorite things about this place. Cheapskates! The quality of the food is extremely inconsistent too. I can recall craving their food and drinks, and now the thought of here makes me irritated The customer service here is awful. They act like you are bothering them by walking in. Dirty looks and snarky attitudes, I wanna say fuck you too bitches, at least I like my job! Some of my favorites are the tacos dorados, torta, and the milanesa. But everything I've tried is great. They also have really good breakfast burritos and menudo.
