After not having had Mexican food for 5 whole years whilst living overseas....I arrived with a complete and utter physical craving time 10. I arrived into LAX in the evening like 7p. I purposely didn't eat the last meal on my long-haul flight knowing I'd be arriving around dinnertime. Mom and Dad fetched me and immediately whisked me off to this new place that had opened, while I was away. Little did I know what was to come. I arrived and the no-frills space didn't put me off as the smells were wonderful! I decided to go basic and do one Pastor , one Asada and one tripas. This was peeeerfect stuff that food-gasms are made of. Truly. My mom is well versed in dodging having to cook and her and my dad go there often and sit there looking at the empty Alberto's across the road. I sorta feel sorry for them....but I digress. The next day they went off to church then after they arrived back they asked what I wanted......Tacos El Rey it was again.....this time I did the Tacos Dorados with beef. I've got a special place in my heart for mexican food & this place always makes me swoon. The green sauce is THE BOSS here!!! Sooo good! They also have 3 other salsas to choose from which are pretty tasty as well. There's also radishes, carrots, jalapenos, limes, and cucumbers in the salsa bar. I usually order a carne asada huarache with rice & beans on the side. The huarache is like a thick tortilla that they fry up a little. They put [delicious] beans, carne asada, cilantro, onions, crema fresca, & cotija cheese on the top of the tortilla. You gotta love a place that uses cotija cheese!! Oh man! Scrumptious. I've also ordered their mini tacos ($1.39 each). I've tried the lengua, tripas, carne asada, and carnitas. All very good. The carnitas was my fav. There's something about their beans that don't make me fart. Just being honest. Haha. They're delicious too!! Another great thing they have here is FRESH fruit juices. Agua fresca I believe. LOVE IT! It's the most refreshing thing ever..especially in this hot summer sun. I've gotten the watermelon & limon so far. I'm loving the limon right now so that's all I've been getting. The only thing I didn't care for too much was the rice. Eh, but I don't eat mexican food for the rice. If you're in the area & looking for some good mexican food definitely go here! The dood with mustache is nice too. He'll explain everything to you if you have questions about any of the food. He told me that their chicken mole is really good.. Delicious flavorful food every time! Been here for the first time three weeks ago. Didn't get to eat there that night but noticed most of the tables were full. Got a lengua and a carne asada burrito to go. Food was fresh, delicious and full of flavor! Went back again two weeks ago on a Friday night and ate our food there. The people working there were nice and friendly, again tables were mostly full. Great little salsa bar and an area where they make fresh fruit drinks and liquados. This time I got a plate with six little tortillas filled with chicken, and lettuce and Pico de Gallo on the side. Tasted like the tacos you get from a taco lady at birthday parties. Very fresh and tasty. My husband got a carne asada quesadilla filled with lots of meat and cheese and flavor. Went back again the next morning to try their menudo and posole. AGAIN! so flavorful! New place now for my menudo. Sorry El Camino. We've been back twice since then for take out. Have tried there Sopes, Tostada, Huaraches, and Tortas. Oh ya, I think they make their horchata fresh daily because each time I've ordered it, it tastes a little different. Sometimes more cinnamon than before, but always delicious. I freaking love this place. I love Mexican food in general, but this is definitely the place to go for Authentic Mexican food. I've always loved their tacos because of the homemade tortillas.. But lately, their tortillas have been quite hard, so -1 star for that. Their nachos are amazing as well! I could really tell it's fresh. :) But on my recent visit, I wasn't craving for tacos, but I did want to try something new. I asked the lady at the register what she would recommend as far as a rice dish & without hesitation, she recommended BIRRIA. It's shredded beef with some kind of delicious red sauce. It was to die for! I loved it and I'm glad I trusted her word. The meat was perfectly tender and the sauce wasn't too spicy. Such a perfect yet simple dish. It also comes with rice and beans, plus corn/flour tortilla. I would definitely come back & always will. Parking does suck though, since it's the same little (I mean LITTLE) plaza as a flower shop and an auto shop; so try to avoid peak hours. I can't wait to try their other dishes! read more

I would come here often for the 99 cent potato tacos! Vegetarian friendly for those but I've ordered food where it was messed up and they fixed it but just make sure you always check your order before leaving. The staff were always so friendly to me! First off, when you come to this place, don't judge it by its lack of parking space, as others have. You're about to indulge in some major caloric intake, so it wouldn't hurt to walk your fat a$$ a few extra feet. That being said, this is a hole in the wall kinda place, which only makes it more authentic in my opinion, so you just have to take it for what it is. You're not coming here for ambiance, you're coming here for great food. Everything I've tried here has been amazing. By amazing, I mean I've lived in L.A. my entire life (25 years) and this has to be one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever eaten at; definitely in my top 3. Everything I've tried has been hot and fresh, and tasted delicious. They seem to have a larger menu selection than most Mexican restaurants, and they serve menudo and pozole everyday of the week, not just on Sunday, like many others! The only thing I can complain about is that they seem to close pretty early, and I usually get my craving for Mexican at random hours. It would be awesome if they were open 24 hours, but this is just a dream. This is our go to restaurant when we are in the mood for delicious Mexican food. The cashier is super friendly and always courteous on the phone when I place our order. The food is amazing and the prices are reasonable. I have become a regular customer and we order at least two or three times a month. I highly recommend the pozole or the carne asada burrito. So surprised with this little hole in the wall place... Isn't it always like that though? I usually have a burrito and a taco or two and my wife will have their milanesa torta, and their awesome jugo de sandia. Sure it's only water sugar and watermelon chunks...but they have the touch...kind of like when you get a real Mexican limonada with the shaved bits of lime rind, simple...different, but oh so good.
