The one great neighborhood Mexican restaurant with a home made feel, this place excels in providing a pretty wide variety of tex-mex and Mexican dishes. The offerings are well priced and portioned, with a very natural flavor reminiscent of a home kitchen. Rice and beans not good. Tacos were good, they tasted very similar to King Taco. Mole enchiladas were SO spicy I couldn't eat them (but I'm a whimp lol) gave them to my friends but they said they were very spicy too, good flavor to the sauce though. We had a last minute change of plans and I needed food for 10 in 2 hours. The beans and rice were yummy, 30 tacos, potato, carnitas and carne asada were beautifully packed in foil pans and stayed hot. As I had requested, condiments were on the side. I love all the food here. Fast service too! The tacos dorados are my favorite and I can never leave without a sope too! Sometimes they run out of salsa if you go close to them closing but I understand bc they're so good! I live right down the street from Tacos El Rey, and considering there are like 5 different restaurants to choose from in the immediate vicinity when the wife and I are in the mood for Mexican, we always choose Tacos El Rey. We've been to this place numerous times and have never had a bad meal. Their food is great, the employees are nice, and their food and prices have remained consistent this whole time. If I had any complaint, it would be the parking, especially during the day when the Conroy's and auto place are open right next door. Parking could be a bit hard to come by during this time. Other than that, this is the tastiest Mexican food in the area hands down! read more

The place is near by, so, I tend to frequent it. The food overall is better than average. Just, don't make the mistake in getting there 30 to 40 minutes before they close. They tend to stop serving customers around that time. Even though they're supposed to be open till 9. They should change their closing time to 8pm. That way I won't bother going after 8pm. read more

Absolutely love the food here. They make a burrito exactly as I like it - in fact my husband is going there right now to get dinner. This restaurant is family owned and the quality of their food is consistently good. My husband has actually struck up a friendship with the employees. Parking can be a bit challenging at times, but so worth it! We visit this restaurant a few times a month at the minimum. Love the little carne asada tacos, in fact - I have never had anything bad from there. The dinners are yummy. Let me start by saying food here is great! Very authentic and delicious, prices are fair for the quality of food. My big complaint is I have stopped by a few times and the wait to get food was way too long. Ordered to go and it took over 20minutes to get too. First time trying this place and I have to say I was pleased with the meal I ordered. I tried their Wet Chile Verde burrito and it was delicious. The pork was cooked perfectly and with just the right amount of spice to it from the sauce. I also had 2 of their potato tacos and those were bomb. I think I found my new spot for Mexican food. Another thing that was cool about this place, they also make one of my favorites...Panbazos! I've never seen any other Mexican food places make those around this area..(La Mirada, Norwalk, Whittier and surrounding). Definitely coming back to try other stuff on their menu. read more

Definitely one of the best Mexican fast food places out there. I actually didn't like Mexican food until I was introduced to this place. Now I am a regular here. I've tried practically everything on their menu and everything I've had here was above par, very authentic. I usually get a wet burrito with tripas mixed with either asada or lengua along with a strawberry agua fresca. It is something to crave for! The only thing I can say against this restaurant is that the parking is terrible, only 3 or 4 spots in the front of the restaurant, and that the quality is pretty inconsistent depending on who is cooking (still good though), but when the food is made just right, you will keep coming back just to try to have that experience again, absolutely sublime. The most amazing tacos ever... the chicken is lightly charred and very tender, the pork is cut into decent cubes and also very tender and moist, and beef is delicious! I've tried a lot of places, but this definitely has the best cooked meats by far... I can't say enough how well the meats are prepared, so you'll have to try it. The place is like a local dive, so not the prettiest of places and maybe not the cleanest either, but the food makes up for it by far. The price was $1.35 for a taco and I think $1.65 for fish.
