Bad delivery order experience. I am sitting here for my missing food to be delivered. I ordered , the girl on the phone even questioned and repeated the order to me correctly. But apparently when it was entered into the system she hit one, not 2. So I look to see it is missing, call back and am told well you were only charged for one.... Yeah, but my guest or husband is now missing his dinner. Ok, well I need the food. Outcome being I am getting food, but being charged for it. Not thrilled. And now my husband will never order again. I 100% agree with the other RECENT reviews that the food has been on a precipitous decline in taste and meat quantity while prices have been creeping higher. As a long time customer, they don't think we notice when their meat portions have been mega shrinking while prices remain high. As mentioned by other Yelpers, their customer service is terrible as choices for Chinese cuisine is limited in the area. The last straw was when I tried to order lunch specials for the office and was refused because it was 5 minutes past "lunch time". Ordered Grubhub delivery from here, the food is decent, but the service was ridiculously bad. We were missing half our order and the person who answered the phone didn't even know they did Grubhub?! I hung up and double checked that I was calling the right place (I had). So I called back and the kid told me that it was not their problem. I mentioned that I was being charged for everything and he kept repeating that it wasn't his problem. He sounded bored and couldn't care less. He also sounded like he just walked in off of the street and answered the phone because he had absolutely zero clue about delivery or the process involved. I called Grubhub and they apologized for the restaurant and refunded me for the missing items. I definitely won't be going back, there are a million other restaurants that have way better service. Tai San is unfortunately one of those places that skimps on quality and gives you barely any meat and especially barley any shrimp in your noodles. One time I paid $3 extra for shrimp and I promise you I'm not lying when I say i only got one shrimp in my whole dish. Another time I ordered sesame chicken, my mom ordered orange chicken, and my dad ordered general tsos chicken and what we all got was the same chicken except one had an orange peel on it, one had sesame seeds, and one had some veggies. No difference other than that. Very disappointing. Service is not great. Honestly in the area there are 10 restaurants that are WAY WAY better! Do yourself the favor and go somewhere else. Also we keep telling them to make things spicy and they always come out mild. I come here about 4x a week for my avocado bubble smoothie made with coconut milk and served with extra tapioca. I am completely addicted, all of their smoothies are delicious and made with FRESH cut fruit. I haven't eaten here but I always see people ordering take out or dining in. The restaurant has a lot to offer, it's very clean and the staff is friendly. They never judge me for my daily obsession lol! I have eaten here for years and we ordered carry out yesterday for the first time in a long time. Sad to say it just doesn't taste as good as I remember. The chicken panang curry my husband ordered looked straight up gross. I ordered a Thai tea smoothie with tapioca only to arrive and be told they can't make that into a smoothie. Either say that online or when I order, not when I get there. It was also not sweet enough. The sushi I ordered was mediocre. The edamame was mushy and over cooked. Saving grace here was the crab Rangoon and my kids strawberry smoothie. Overall, never ordering here again for Thai. It's not the same after eating at VIP which is right by us. Sushi is overpriced for the meh taste. What a disappointing dinner and waste of a Mother's Day cheat meal for me. read more

Hibachi meals (especially with the lunchtime special prices) are pretty good. The pad thai and pad see ewe doesn't really taste like what I'm used to (and wouldn't even stand a chance against Thai Happiness down the street). Overall, some good prices for a ton of food when it comes down to the specials. Oh, and order a smoothie! I like the mango with tapioca pearls. Tastes like a giant fresh mango blended up into a cup of yumminess. :P read more

This was a wonderful dining experience! This is literally the best Asian restaurant in our area, and I would highly recommend visiting. It looks small and unassuming on the outside as it's near a strip mall, but please visit! The interior is very comfortable and welcoming. The host was very nice and polite and even opened the restaurant early for us. It was our first time and we walked in on a whim. There was a very nice young gentleman waiting on our party, and he made our experience! He explained any menu questions we had, provided us with prompt and helpful service, and was nothing but polite. We tried the panang curry, chop suey, and sesame chicken, and our meals were delicious and HUGE in portion. The leftovers we took home fed each of us for two to three meals after what we are in the restaurant. We ordered their bo bo appetizer plate and were not disappointed! Or server brought it out with a little mini fire to keep our food warm and to have a hands on experience I definitely enjoyed. It came with beef on a stick, BBQ pork, fried shrimp, and crab Rangoon, and egg rolls. It feeds two but three of us shared very comfortably. So good! I ordered the panang curry medium and it was just the right amount of heat, and I ordered with a combination of meat and only paid about $10-$11 - for a total of four meals from this one plate! It comes with delicious mushrooms, carrots, and pea pods, a sauce, and your choice of meat. When we paid for our meal and thanked the host, he asked if we ever tried their smoothies. As it was our first time, we said no. This kind and generous host then prepared a mango strawberry smoothie for us to take on the road, for free! Came here for lunch. I ordered Pad Thai with vegetables and a Mai Thai. My daughter ordered crazy noodles. We also ordered pot stickers. The food was too greasy! Everything. Went to this restaurant with my family after moving into the area. Everyone ordered and got their got except for me. I was told by the waitress that my food would be out shortly. Following ten minutes i asked the waitress how long my food might be. I was once again told it would be right out. everyone else finished their meals and my food had yet to arrive. Ask everyone one else was getting doggy bags i asked again. The waitress did little to apologies and was rude. She said it will be out and went to the kitchen i assume to actually put the order in. Waiting for another five minutes after the bill i got it in a doggy bag. My meal was not compted hard to believe. You would think after having to wait and having to drive home to eat it they wouldnt rub it in my face. The rest of my family didn't enjoy their food so maybe it was best i didnt get mine. I have never seen this before in my life. One cook and one waitress at lunch time in a full service restaurant? Four people at our table including one child. My friend got his sweet and sour soup right away. 5 minutes later I got my won ton soup. 5 minutes later, 2 more soups and 4 egg rolls. 2 minutes later a beef and broccoli a chicken satay and sweet and sour chicken? My friend who got his soup first was served his general tao's chicken after we had finished eating. And don't think about a refill. That would have thrown a wrench into the operation. What a disappointment. My guess is that this place is owned by Chinese or Koreans. Sushi sucks just falls apart and fish is not that great. For the love of god stay away from the Pad Thai. It comes technicolor orange from that disgusting canned sauce and rubber noodles. You can make WAY better at home and I don't care who you are. So once you get rid of the Thai and Japanese what you're left with is mediocre at best Chinese. Crab Rangoon if filled with disgustingly sweet filling probably frozen. I've tried this place three separate times hoping that I'm wrong. The best thing I've had is the red curry. It's really mongolian beef with a little coconut milk. Not even red in color but not bad tasting. Best Thai in Western Burbs in Bambu Thai in Elmhurst. Thai O'Choa in Darien is pretty good too. I've been several times now for hibachi with coworkers, and generallt, it is a good time. The lunch chicken hibachi special is 9 dollars and comes w soup, fried rice, and veggies, and is plenty of food, especially for 9 dollars. Gotta say though, the flavor of the hibachi food, while OK, definitely isn't as good as the expensive hibachi joints in the city. Not that it's bland, it's just...ok. The steak and shrimp hibachi lunch specials are all several bucks more for the same amount of food, and while they are decent they're (to me) not worth increasing cost by 60%. I have had their sushi several times and enjoy it. I'm no sushi pro so I stick to the conventional rolls, but hey, I know what I like and I like those. Beer and sake available, they have cocktails hut I've never tried them. Hibachi show is quite animated, WAY better than the hibachi place I used to go to. The show is definitely fun and the chefs are good at it. No hibachi Mon and Tue though! Food is 3/5, bonus 0.5 for low price, bonus 0.5 for liking the hibachi performance. Plus I like the sushi. I call to see if they accept AMEX cards and they say yes, I go and my card wasn't accepted I though is my card but I bought gas and groceries after and everything was ok with my card, I call to talk to the manager and the guy was very unfriendly and rude, he though I want free food or something like that and give me the worst service, what the f... is wrong with this employee I don't want free food I was calling to let them know that something is wrong with their system, he hung up with out even say I'm sorry or good bye!! I had ordered spicy chicken basil fried rice and it was the worse I have ever had. It just seemed like it was white fried rice with about two basil leaves and bland chicken. WOW! I have to say this place really impressed me! I live in the city and make it out to the Darien area to go to Hollywood Bar and Filmworks about a few times a month. Yesterday I had a taste for sushi and decided to do a search of sushi spots in the area, found this place, and checked it out. Four of us went to dinner, my friend ordered the panang chicken, which was so good, I kept eating off her plate. I ordered the spicy lobster roll and added spicy mayo, must say this is my new favorite roll of all time. we also ordered the philly roll which was so fresh, it melted in your mouth. The sushi chef was running a bit slow on his first night, but the managers more than made up for it offering extra rolls and a ten dollar coupon. I have hit tons of Chicago sushi restaurants up, and I have to say the price and quality of this place will have me coming back again and again. Check it out. read more

Not bad, I did enjoy this place over the New Chinese Kitchen on 75th and Woodward. I ordered from the Chinese menu as they also have Thai and Japanese menus too. I ordered my goto Chinese meal which is the Wonton Soup, Egg rolls, Beef Fried Rice and Sweet N Sour Chicken. Before fully committing to a Chinese restaurant the chicken has to be good. This place was decent, and very busy which is a good sign....People like this place! I will order from here when I get the Chinese food craving again. I will definitely try the Thai and Japanese menus. I'll update my review and perhaps go to 4 stars! read more

They added Japanese and Thai to have a wider appeal, but I don't order those in a Chinese restaurant. First, I have to wonder / agree with some of the interviewers that questioned the quality, because whenever I eat there, my stomach always feels a little off. That having been said, I have been there quite a lot over the past few years, mostly carry outs. This last time, I spontaneously stopped in to carry out some Thai and when I got it home, there was ZERO MEAT in it! And I've had that exact dish dozens of times, so I'd think I would know. I called there and the woman on the phone said I had to drive it back to them so they could check that there was no meat in it before issuing a refund! As a longtime customer who hasn't complained in the past, you'd think they'd believe me or at least deliver a new one and pick up the old one.
