Weekend morning comfort food at its best! I have passed this place for years and never bothered to check it out. There are several other diners in various cities that we overlook all the time. After having a conversation about good breakfast restaurants with my sister-in-law, she brought up Tallyrand, and I thought, "No way! Really?!" So one day, my family and I finally paid them a visit. Upon walking in and being seated, don't expect much. They are in desperate need of a renovation, but in all honesty, they likely will never do such a thing. Everything seems to work as is and why change what has been working for them for decades. Just look beyond your surroundings and get to ordering. We ordered a waffle, Benedict, and corned beef hash breakfasts. It was all very good, beyond our expectations! The waffle was crispy and had a malty flavor. The corned beef hash was just the way we like it and we loved the potatoes. Couldn't complain about the Benedict. What a delightful first visit to Tallyrand, a true Burbank institution with 67 years of history! My dear friend Claudia has been many times before, so finally experiencing this classic spot with her felt special. I had seen a local influencer lady post about the restaurant recently which is the reason I finally decided to go. We were warmly greeted by Lorenzo, who was genuinely excited to hear it was my first visit, and Francisco provided wonderfully attentive service throughout the meal, always making sure our drinks were refreshed. The food arrived quickly, hot and fresh. I loved my deluxe burger with pepper jack cheese and fries, while Claudia enjoyed the Marco Salad with roast turkey, shrimp, bacon, avocado, egg, and tomato. Her salad came with a choice of bread or a muffin. She selected the warm, fresh baked, banana bread muffin. So good! We ended with apple pie à la mode -- I would have preferred the pie a little warmer with a streusel topping, but it was still a delicious finish to a very charming old-school dining experience. Please note the menu states $2 more for the a la mode but the bill says $2.50 more. We will live with it. LOL. Tallyrand truly feels like a treasured piece of classic Burbank. More of an older and family crowd but nothing is wrong with that. The restaurant also offers a full bar but we did not partake, mostly because the menu does not list prices for cocktails or beer -only for the wine. Why is that? Kind of strange. There are many parking spaces in their lot but the restaurant does get packed after 5 p.m. so you may have to fight for street parking in the area. We will be back soon! read more

Tallyrand has to be my new favorite restaurant. I can't believe it took me so long to discover it. I've been twice in the last week and had the same excellent service both times. Everyone who works there is super friendly and welcoming. I like eating in the bar area because it's cozy and intimate. And come with an appetite because the portions are generous. My companion had the highly recommended hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and stuffing - a Thanksgiving dinner actually. I tried the chicken-fried steak which was OK, but not special. But then I had the Monte Carlo club sandwich which comes with fries and a salad - a real bargain at $16.50. ? And they craft a mean Bloody Mary. You really can't go wrong here. read more

The Arnold Palmer was refreshing and cool. The salad was relatively fresh and flavorful with the creamy Thousand Island dressing. The house made sourdough was outstanding. Update: Been about 10 times for breakfast and lunch, but I think mostly dinner. It's a local coffee shop/diner/family restaurant that you don't see much of nowadays. It's the kind of place that is pretty reliable, predictable and no-frills. Come as you are. Stay for their varied menu and affordable prices. Think of it as "Burbank's living room". Breakfast is pretty standard, although pancakes are pretty memorable. Can get very busy during the mornings. They have a long counter (maybe for 10 or so) in addition to 2 dining rooms as well as a sorta subterranean bar/lounge area. We've sat in both dining rooms so far. They did also have patio seating at one point but I didn't notice it on our last visit, maybe due to weather? I mostly order their roast turkey dinner which comes with all the fixings. Note the turkey here is not the pressed kind, but the real deal...freshly roasted and carved. Yes, Thanksgiving in April does exist! Service is usually pretty quick and friendly. A lot of locals visit here. I would say give yourself the time to enjoy a meal, step back a bit in time when "going out to dinner" was a real treat and event. The food is mid but the service is very special. Especially if you get Marty as a server. She'll charmingly tell you she's been there 25 not hours, not weeks, not months but years. She has a special skip in her step and twinkle in her eye. She will call her regulars by name and quickly learn the new names too. She'll cheer you up and make sure you have more than you came for. There are two off menu breakfast deals. 1) 3x3x3 about $13 and the 2x2x2 is about $11. I got pancakes and eggs and sausage or bacon. The pancakes were good and the eggs were not but they are edible. There are over 30 spots of parking. I've never been to Talleyrand when they are at capacity, but so far I never worry I won't find a spot. Everything about this place is no headache and no stress. And if you sit in Marty's section, it will be no frowns either. She really embodies hospitality and will have you leave with a full belly and heart! Stopped by this place on a whim and really enjoyed it! (I'm not going to lie, it was my first time going to a real diner) FOOD: I got The Popular Turkey Melt ($17.25) and it hit my sandwich craving. There was a good amount of meat, perfect ratio of cheese (sometimes, I feel like melts almost have too much cheese where it's all you can taste), and the sourdough wasn't overly toasted. But the fries!!! I've never had fries in this shape, they are thick and flat, and it was very yummy. The Chocolate Shake ($8.95) was also creamy and not too sweet. A solid (and historic) diner! Stopped by for lunch. Booths everywhere, you see the counter right as you walk in...it's very classic. You've got a covered patio option if you want to sit outside. We got the Giant Reuben with a side salad and the Fresh Chicken Clubhouse with fruit and a small slice of carrot cake. Both come with your choice of sides, so make sure you peruse the various options if you order a sandwich - the default is fries. Everything was fresh and tasty. The Reuben was perfectly toasted and the meat was very tender. The Club had thick slices of chicken, crispy lettuce, and the right amount of bacon. We did ask for an extra side of mayo and Dijon for the Club. The side of fruit was mostly cantaloupe which was alright if you like cantaloupe. The carrot cake was tasty, too. Open since 1959 Tallyrand is one of the more famous diners in the valley, especially in the Burbank area. Inside looks exactly as you would expect, a diner from the late 60s or early 70s and the sort of neighborhood hang out spot where all types gather for a great breakfast. Inside has many different seating options, from counter to table to booth. Our server was very polite and the food items came out very quickly. I would say my favorite part of this place is the price because it is very fair and much less than a lot of other places close by. There is a large, free parking lot attached so parking was very easy. The food is pretty good, but not great. There are better diners around Los Angeles but the price here is hard to beat. For my meal I chose my favorite breakfast dish, which is Eggs Benedict, which is only served on Sundays. I felt the dish was fairly good however, the hollandaise was not as creamy as I like and the eggs were a bit over hard. We also started off with a Cinnamon Roll, which was honestly very good and I would recommend ordering. The other dish we ordered was the Pancakes & Eggs and the eggs were very dry and really lacked flavor. We both believe that a great breakfast starts and ends with the quality of eggs. I went here this morning to have breakfast with my friend Dave. I ordered the Chili Hash and it comes with chunks of ham and bell peppers and grilled onions and potatoes and cheese and they put two eggs over easy on top, but you can get the eggs however you want or not have any eggs. This was extremely delicious, it was my first time eating this and I plan on going here more often. My friend Dave got the French toast with two eggs over easy and the potatoes, he was very happy with his meal too. This place has a large parking area and there is also street parking available. This restaurant also has a full separate bar and lots of seating there. The waiter was very pleasant and kept our coffees full. This restaurant also cooks a complete Turkey every day so if you choose you may order a thanksgiving meal any day, they are always open for breakfast lunch and dinner. I absolutely love this place and have told everyone around me to come try it however today's experience left me feeling really upset. As someone who's visited this restaurant I've always been met with friendly and great hospitality however there was a man talking about how I changed my son in the trunk of my car yesterday and that a diaper was thrown out (into the bin) outside to his other coworker right as I pass by to exit. I told him the reason I changed him in the trunk to begin with was because in the bathroom I had gone to (the one by the bar) there was no changing table and wasn't aware until today there was one in the restroom in the back area. I thought it was quite rude of him to be talking about this experience in Spanish to his coworker a day after the incident happened and right as I pass him by. There was no ill intent behind me making sure my son was in a clean diaper however his commentary made it seem like it was the worst thing I could have done. It's just unfortunate because he thought I didn't speak Spanish and could get away with it /: He was speechless when I spoke to him back in Spanish letting him know it's not appropriate to talk about guests in that manner. Waitresses here seem to be in a click and are locals. From elderly to teens. So if something is wrong with your food or the service, you probably won't get the correction you're looking for at this "club." Sourdough bread is great if it's just been baked. However, if you get old bread you are told that it's been microwaved to reheat it. Then it's like wood. I was waited on by a portly waitress whom had long and thick acrylic nails and when she brought me my turkey her nail was in the gravy ! She moonlights at a hospital, so I'm shocked at the lack of hygiene. Lastly, the "don't pick the lemons" sign in the parking lot is not very classy! And as a highlight, came here on thanksgiving and they dropped off all my food including dessert all at once with the whip cream melting on my pie. We visited on a Saturday morning for breakfast and the place was packed. That said, we were seated quickly and food arrived within 10 minutes. Wait staff was prompt and attentive. Food is your typical diner fare and there's not much to say about bacon and eggs, but the eggs were hot and the bacon, plentiful. The muffin that came with the meal was meh...it was small and forgettable. Overall, it was what we expected and nothing more. Would we come back? Likely not. We don't live in the area, but even if we did it lacks that special "something" that would lure us back. I can see why this place has its regulars.
