Yes it's pricey, but I think the meal we got was well executed, tasted good and had those little touches ( e.g., egg cooked just right, flavors and proportions balanced and cohesive ) that differentiate from something just thrown together. The food was good, but the delivery and service were quite bad. It arrived 30+ minutes late. I can deal with a late delivery if I know what's going on. I called to check on my order and they didn't answer the phone. Tried calling three times and no answer. When it finally arrived, it was dropped at my door with no apology or explanation. Great addition to the neighborhood! Vegan friendly (friendly in general!). Try their Tamari soy sauce which is vegan and gluten free - wonderful with the inexpensive vegetable sushi & vegan miso soup lunch specials. For dinner I like the Yaki stir fried udon with extra Shiitake mushrooms. These udon noodles are amazing. My omnivore friends have been happy with what they've ordered, too. So far I've only gotten delivery and pick-up, but I see there are some inside tables. read more

I was a little disappointed when I noticed I received the wrong dish. But When I reached out to the restaurant, they were more than happy to help. They offered to send another delivery (free of charge), and sent me a complimentary drink and a hand-written note. The gestures that seem small are really the ones that make the biggest impact. NEVER AGAIN. I ordered delivery from this place, thinking I'd treat myself to an upscale delivery dinner. They give me a delivery window of an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. OK, that's long, but I get it--it's quality food, so it takes time. It's now well past the delivery window, and I still haven't gotten anything. I've tried calling the restaurant, but I get booted right to a mailbox where I can't even leave a message because it's full. What a shabby, shabby experience. I ordered the Tan Tan Udon takeout last night. It was pure grease. It honestly didn't seem like there was any broth in it at all - just oil. It's more than 24 hrs later and my stomach still doesn't feel right. I've ordered this dish before and consider it to be a guilty pleasure because I don't eat a lot of meat and it always is a bit greasy from the ground pork but this time it was over the top. Had a great lunch here. I'm not usually crazy about miso soup, but the soup here was really fantastic--actually probably the best I've ever had. Also had sushi and edamame which were both delicious, and I've enjoyed their veggie tempura in the past. Definitely not worth dealing with this establishment's b.s. Had trouble each time I ordered from them; this last time I ordered, it was a single dish, their system said it would be ready at a specific time (about 25 minutes from when I ordered) I went 5 minutes after the suggested time to pick it up, they said it was not ready and I should wait. Waited for a while, turns out they didn't even start preparing my one dish order. I ask to cancel and get a refund (only then do they start telling me that they are 'about to prepare' my order). The guy then says he voided the transaction, refuses to give me a confirmation, tells me to 'come back tomorrow' for a confirmation that they did actually void the transaction. Anyhow, again, not worth dealing with their really bad service. Will not be ordering from them again. read more

This is our go to sushi place. I think my husband would eat here everyday if he could. I've seen complaints about the pricing, but it seems on par for delicious fresh fish, and you get what you pay for. Big fan of the rolls and the udon is super yummy! read more

Very fresh sushi. The tuna was especially good which is unusual for small places like this. I really appreciated care taken with food. A welcome addition to our neighborhood! Had my first order from Tampopo Kitchen last night and was really pleased. For two of us, we ordered an avocado roll with lobster salad. It was perfectly prepared and seasoned, and it was beautifully packed. The house-blended soy sauce is excellent. We also got vegetable tempura, which was perfectly battered and cooked. Finally, we got the kake udon with shiitake, which was especially delicious. As others have mentioned, TK is pricey for this neighborhood, but the quality is top-notch, which is a nice treat for this neighborhood. This is not grab-and-go supermarket sushi; we have plenty of that around, and I know where I can get it. TK is several notches above ordinary takeout, and after months of sad, soggy, desperate pandemic takeout, I really appreciate that the owners are trying to offer a better option. They've just opened and are trying to do a complicated thing. I expect a few glitches and am willing to support a small, locally owned business. True, it it probably won't be my everyday go-to, but I think it's going to be a very nice special-occasion treat. read more
