Ambiance: There are a lot of seating available when I arrived and if very quiet and calm away from the disturbances of The Meatpacking District. Service: Pretty quick, maybe way too quick!! How cruel it is that this place exists next to Xi'an! Some of the reviews are so far detached from my experience that I have to wonder whether some diners left a review for the wrong restaurant. Ordered the lamb pilaf which had a decent amount of oily central Asian type rice with the raisins and low quality cuts of lamb. Also ordered the dumplings (10 for $15) which were totally fine. Atmosphere is weirdly sterile and at least one of the people dining near me wasn't wearing deodorant. Let me just start off by saying how great the service was here. The people working the day my friends and I came were incredibly nice. And the restaurant was nice, well maintained, which is great when the dishes can get pretty messy. Now to the food. The cabbage and beef dumplings were the best I've ever had. I mean wow so so good. The broth of the beef noodle soup was actually best noodle broth I've ever tasted. I could have a whole bowl of just the broth itself. The hand pulled noodles themselves were very soft, perfectly cooked. I couldn't get enough of it, and perfect for this freezing weather too. We ordered the beef dumplings as well which were well flavored, not too much dough, and just the right amount of steam. It was cool to see their open kitchen concept where you could see the noodles being made. The medium spice was perfect for me as I'm not into very spicy food anymore. The broth was delicious and hardy and was so good. I had to order extra noodles. Please note Noodles are made in house, which is a plus considering most restaurants outsource their noodles. We ordered the following: Soup Dumpling ($9) - Not as "soupy" as I would have liked. For sure doesn't compare to the Joe Shanghai's, but tastes great. Snow Pea Sprouts w Soy Sauce ($12) - My go to veggie dish and I would recommend it here as well. My friend and I were in the area after work on day so we decided to drop by to try this new (ish? to us?) place out. It says Taiwanese food on yelp but one look at the menu will reveal that that is not quite true. Anyways, we ordered the mouth watering chicken (口水雞) as an appetiser to share. It was really yummy! The chicken was quite well-cooked (each bite soft and tender), and the chilli oil was very nice - fragrant, and paired nicely with the lighter taste of the chicken. We both decided to order the beef noodle soup. First, the flavour of the broth was not quite what I expected - I think it's definitely closer to the central/SW Chinese style of cooking beef noodle soup than the Taiwanese style (which, I suppose it was not really a Taiwanese restaurant, so that makes sense). The noodles I quite liked - thick, chewy, and nicely carrying the rich flavours of the broth. The beef itself was meh - kind of hard to chew and a little bit bland (kinda felt like the broth gave the beef flavour rather than the other way around). So, a decent meal? Not bad by any means, but also not really anything worth coming again for, I think. Price point was also relatively high ($18 just for the noodle soup?), which I don't think was worth it for either the portion size or the quality of food. Tangy Noodle sits amongst the best Chinese noodle places I've tried in NYC. Along with Very Fresh Noodles and Spicy Village, its noodles are perfect and memorable. In contrast to those other noodle shops, its service was terrific and attentive. We opted for the chili wontons to start, as well as the signature Tangy noodles and signature prawn noodles. The wontons were some of the best I've had in a while. They had an appropriately thin skin, generous filling to skin ratio, and delicious chili oil. Both noodle dishes were excellent. The former had slightly thicker noodles, and was topped with a perfect chashu pork, slightly sweet and salty but oh-so tender in texture. The minced pork and hard-boiled egg were wonderful accompaniments. In response to our desire for something spicier, our waiter was spot-on in suggesting the signature prawn noodles. Each prawn was resplendent, tender yet meaty--rarely have I had prawns that were cooked just right, not overdone. And the wavy noodles were also QQ--chewy, al dente, and not overcooked. I did notice that the kitchen staff uses a fancy machine to make the noodles. They never advertised their noodles as "hand-pulled," so I can't fault them for using technology, especially when the noodle consistency comes out just right. The service was unbelievable--they brought my daughter a plastic cup and straw and a special plate, recognizing immediately the needs of a toddler. They were attentive in refilling our water many times and very kind and helpful with their suggestions. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would welcome a return. read more

We were offered a free appetizer for a short paper survey and the staff were very thoughtful but not overbearing - seating was clean and decently spaced too. It's a regular good old simple noodle dish (like I can probably cook this at home easily, with all the ingredients I got), tasted good but nothing particularly exceptional or bad. Will I be back?
