I've been going to tapioca house since my freshman year of High school, in Houston. I always had a great experience and loved the food and drinks. I was really excited to find out there was one close to campus. So in total I've been going to tapioca house for about 9 years. I've never really had any complaints until today. The girl working the register today at around 3:00pm-3:15pm was rude from the moment I walked in. She wouldn't look at me, didn't say anything when I said hello, didn't say anything until I was done with my order then she repeated the order to me without even looking at me. I got the Thai tea and oolong tea with tapioca I ordered, said thank you and have a nice day to the girl and was again met with silence and not even a glance. I've gotten Thai tea many times before, but when I tasted the one she made today it was completely unsweetened and the tapioca was all stuck together, same as in the oolong tea I was getting for my fiancée. I asked her to remake the Thai tea sweet. I watched her pour a LOT of syrup in it while remaking it, like visibly way too much. She looked back at me then poured the rest of the bottle into it. There was over an inch of sweet syrup in the cup before she added anything else. I gave her benefit of the doubt, maybe that's how it was supposed to be made. Not at all. It was so sweet I couldn't even drink it. I didn't bother with asking her to remake the drinks again, she was visibly frustrated from when I walked in and even more so after remaking the Thai tea. So, I took the drinks back in and asked for a refund. She said nothing but "what's the reason for the refund?" I told her that the drinks didn't taste right. I couldn't even get a receipt for the refund. By far the worst customer service experience I can even remember, anywhere. She had an awful attitude throughout my interactions with her, and made my order incorrectly multiple times. I'm extremely hesitant to ever come back. I'm hoping that I at least end up getting my money back. read more

Came in on a Saturday night at around 11 PM expecting to get a quick dessert or maybe something to go. On Google, Yelp, and every other resource it said they closed at midnight. But as we walked up to the door they said they were already closed and basically shut the door in our face. this is hands down the best boba i've ever had. the quality and variety of milk teas, assortment of drinks, and quality of boba is the best in the austin area. not only was the boba fresh and warm, but in high quantity as well. i've never had a situation where i ran out of milk tea before boba until today. read more

I come here for lunch with my Chinese folks sometimes. The food is not bad. I don't think it is that Taiwanese though, because it is really just some fast Chinese food (well, definitely better than Panda Express if you have concerns;). The combo is a good deal with an entree, two sides, rice and your choice of a Tapioca drink. Their drinks are also slightly less expensive than the next door Coco Cafe. I def like this place better than CoCo for drinks and food - more selection and they don't add in loads of sugar. Very friendly service. As for food, I especially liked the calamari. I had the pork chop and rice and it wasn't the best I have tasted nor the worst. It was bland. But really, I don't go here for a meal, their drinks are worth it though for the price. Best place for bubble tea and a meal near campus. I always gets their combos since it comes with a tea and there is so much food for pretty cheap. The pork chops and fried chicken steak is the best. Their spicyness levels are not very standardized though. Sometimes I go there and get level 4 and its not too bad but other times I go there and get level 3 and I burn my face off so just be wary if you have a spiciness tolerance level. read more

This place is a typical tapioca place. It is ok but the people who work there seem pissed off. Food takes a long time and is nothing but grease. Tapioca in the drinks is bland and are not plump at all. Momokos on 24th is a lot better. this place really ain't too bad. the service will vary depending on who works there. the asian guy with earrings is awesome. it's got cheap stuff, especially compared to coco's. the main difference I can tell you about their tapioca versus coco's is that TapHouses tap has a bit more 'chew' and coco's has a bit more of a sweetness to theirs. read more

This is my go to restaurant because the drinks are cheaper than other tapioca process and their meals are fairly cheap and include a drink with tapioca, if desired. I think this is a great place to go with friends and chill because of its cozy atmosphere. They recently renovated and even more recently changed their tapioca recipe. The new recipe is really yummy. If you're on a budget or looking for somewhere friendly and cozy, this is a good place. The owner is also really nice. I emailed him once for feedback regarding a food allergy and he was super quick to respond and took me very seriously, looking into changing menu options for it. read more

Service: WACK They NEED to change their hours if they're not willing to serve a anything BEFORE CLOSING TIME. It's kind of a slap on the face when they refuse you service because they cleaned the utensils 15 minutes before they actually close. Also, a hello or any kind of greeting would be nice. read more

This is the place where college students go to for cheap boba. I only like a couple of their drinks (jasmine milk tea, almond milk tea, thai milk tea). Their fried tofu is the bomb!!! It'll probably be my go to meal once Lent season arrives. They've apparently renovated the place but not by much in my opinion. They're open later than most places so it's convenient too. This is one of the few places you can get milk tea on the UT campus. It is right across the street from Dobie and only a 7 minute walk from Jester. So it is fairly conveniently placed. The food itself is not really that good. I usually get the crispy chicken rice plate, which is okay for food, but not really worth the price, but it's better than nothing if you're in the mood for milk tea. In reality, it really is cheaper to get a meal that comes with milk tea than to get the drink itself. (Meals are around $8) The milk tea itself is actually pretty good. It is slightly sweet, and fairly milky. The boba itself is not very consistent. Sometimes it is just right, but other times it's either too hard or too soft. (The milk tea itself is $3.30 for a large) The thai tea is also a pretty good pick. In my personal opinion, my favorite is the mango peach black tea with half boba and half rainbow jelly. Although it is a little pricey, it is by far my favorite. One good thing for this place is that they have stamp cards. Buying a drink gives one stamp. Collecting 8 stamps gives one free drink. Thai tea is really really good! Love the tapioca and the sweetness is just perfect. However the food is passable. I tried the chicken nugget combo (spice level 3) which comes with rice and it was nothing worth remembering. Really salty and honestly slightly gross! I don't know much about this place other than they're the ONLY joint in town that has lavender bubble tea!! To be totally honest, it's the only reason I go there. Called in beforehand and the staff said kitchen is open till 11:45pm. Arrived with 9 people at 11:10pm. At 11:28pm the refused to take anymore kitchen orders when we still had two more people in line. The staff said the kitchen closes at 11:30pm, but we were already inside with TWO MORE minutes. The lady was super rude with attitude and denied to acknowledge our phone call. If it was going to be this way we wouldn't have bothered . I bet the staff just wanted to leave early. read more

If i could rate -star i would definitely rate them -10*. Yesterday, before i went to their shop, i called them and asked whether they open or not and they said yes.. When i arrived, the shop was closed. Okay fine, thats not a big deal. So i planned to go to this shitty shop again today as i was craving for bubble milk tea.. When i walk in, i saw one male and one female were playing with their laptop and dont even want to bother me.. They were playing some super loud musics and singalong.. This food is really cheap -- $7 for tea and a decently sized meal. However, food quality is pretty terrible. Rice and meat are dry. (I got the chicken nuggets) This is a great place to go if you're a broke college student looking for a late night meal, but the food isn't really enjoyable. read more

This is not the best tapioca in town but it is open late and is fairly cheap. The service is usually bad. I dig the milk tea, The food isn't very good and it seems like food orders confuse them becuase they have mixed my orders up twice when I have been there. Asian food + Boba drink. Pretty standard. Similar to Coco's but it has a sketchier vibe due to the decor (or lack of). Definitely a fan of Tap House. The food is mediocre but the drinks are the best on the drag. Very cheap and they offer a rewards card. If you do grab some food, try the chicken nuggets and ask for the hottest flavoring. If needed, they have Siracha for your lava flavoring needs! read more
