It's very frustrating and disappointed that we got a take out from this restaurant with just a barely halfway full. We did take out several times from this place that were not like that. It is unacceptable to pay $10.95 for not a full size of food. And we called to the restaurant and complained about that. The person on the phone and the "manager" had no intention to do anything about that. I can't believe there's a restaurant doesn't care about a bad review and business nowadays. This is a great local restaurant that needs more community support. The food is some of the best Thai casual dining I've had. After eating a few dinners here, I always come away thinking "why isn't this place busier?" First, the food: Fresh Rolls are a treat with subtle, fragrant basil in every bite. The chopped vegetable filling tastes just picked. The soft (un-fried) rice skin wrapper makes a nice contrast with the crunch of the filling. My mother, a NYC egg roll eater from way back, loved them too. We split two dishes for dinner, a pumpkin curry squid and a papaya salad. The squid is scored into a beautiful cross-hatch pattern that gives the curry sauce something to cling to. Pumpkin is cut into bite-sized chunks, cooked not too soft, with chopped green pepper in the flavorful sauce. I really liked the shrimp and papaya salad, but it was too spicy for my table-mate. When I mentioned this to our server/hostess, she quickly brought a freshly-made portion with no spice at all. (Made my mother very happy and got a big thumbs up!) Unable to decide between green tea and coconut ice cream, we ordered a mixed dish for dessert. It was enough for us to share and came with a sprinkling of raisins and peanuts on top. Both flavors tasted home made. Tara Thai does take-out, but the excellent service and Thai welcome is something that the Beach communities need more of. Prices are very reasonable. read more

I love this place! The spicy fried rice with chicken is excellent. The pumpkin, yellow and red curry are also all fantastic dishes. Also, spring rolls and fried banana are great sides if you want some extra pizazz with your meal. I've been ordering here for a few years now and my meals are consistently delicious, so when I make my order, I know I'm going to be happy with my choice. Yelp tells me that I have an unfinished review from when I first visited in August 2018. My bad - I'm sure I began that review because I had something nice to say. Nice enough that I went back this week. They have all colors of curry dishes - red, yellow, green and orange. This time, I had the green, made up of green curry paste, coconut milk, Chinese eggplant, bell pepper (green and red?), and sweet basil. There were big chunks of everything. I also had "Tara Noodles," described as creamy yellow curry sauce over crispy egg noodle and topped with red shallots, scallion and cilantro. The noodles were okay - I might try something different next time; that's the thing with new restaurants - there's some experimenting to find out what you like. But the sauce and everything else was great. I was glad to put the excess sauce from both dishes (just enough) on the rice. I had tofu for my protein with both dishes. It was firm - sort of grilled on all sides. I'm looking forward to my left-overs! read more

I don't understand why people that own restaurants link up with door dash or delivery services if they cannot handle the business?! Stopped by on a Tuesday night while out on a business trip. The restaurant was pretty empty, but I was promptly treated by the pleasant hostess. I ordered the Tom kha chicken soup and the yellow curry with pork. The soup was awesome, full of flavor and it had a ton of chicken. The yellow curry had a nice mellow sweet flavor, but was lacking in spice. The waitress brought me over a spice jar, and I was able to kick it up a notch. One thing to note, rice is not included with the curry. This was slightly annoying but a bowl of rice wasn't too much more ($1.75). I'd be happy to return, but would try some other options in the area first. read more

The delivery was fast, and the driver was friendly. The food was decent, not the best Thai food, but not the worst. I enjoyed most everything (Pad Thai - decent, spicy fried rice - good, veggie spring rolls - decent), but the mango sticky rice was nearly inedible. The mangos were brown and tasted as if they were well beyond their freshness date. The rice was sticky, but there was not much coconut, so it tasted like plain rice. This was the most disappointing part of my experience. I was really looking forward to eating it because the presentation was nice, and the portion was great. We ended up tossing all the mangoes because they were inedible so we basically paid $8 for sticky rice, that wasn't really sweetened with the coconut. read more

Salmon tasted over cooked, frozen, and fishy. Wasn't expecting that for 15 plus. The curry tasted like someone poured honey into it. Went back again. We were in the mood for something lighter so we ordered the Phat Thai Shrimp (again!) and we decided to try the Blue Crab Fried Rice. Just like last time, both were excellent, but I really liked the fried rice. It had a that fragrant rice flavor that makes the difference between 'good' and 'absolutely delicious' fried rice. I had it with some Plik Nam Pls (fresh chillis in fish sauce) to add just a little kick. We did decide on having dessert this time. We had the fried banana. Wow. Excellent service and food!! After a long day of travel we needed a place to unwind with great food. We started with Thai Ice Teas which were sweet and cold! For appetizers we had fried dumplings and a larb salad. The dumplings were crispy on the outside with moist and tasty meat. The larb salad was fantastic -- tangy lime dressing with just the right amount of spice. For entrees we got the whole Pampano fish steamed in ginger sauce and the green curry fried rice. The fish was perfectly seasoned, came right off the bone, and the ginger sauce was fantastic! The green curry fried rice was also delicious -- just the right amount of spice, veggies, and chicken. The restaurant is family run and the service was outstanding. There is ample parking and seating. read more
