I've visited Tartine's Mission locations, but the Inner Sunset bakery and cafe might be my new favorite. I arrived around 9 AM on a Sunday expecting there to be a massive line; while the cafe was packed, the line and tables cleared quickly. I met some friends for brunch and ordered the seasonal veggie quiche, a filtered coffee, and a morning bun for the road. The quiche was almost perfect - the eggs were silky and buttery, and the seasonal veggies featured grilled corn, roasted red pepper, and spinach. The bottom crust was a bit soggy and rubbery from sitting out, but the outer crust was flaky. An unexpected delight was the crisp, refreshing side salad that was dressed with a bright oil and vinegar dressing. The salad seemed simple but counterbalanced the rich quiche. I enjoyed the morning bun when I got back home a few hours later, and now I understand why they're always sold out at Tartine's other locations. The orange flavor was delicate, and the cinnamon sugar dusting added just enough sweetness. The pastry texture reminded me of a kouign amann with its caramelized bottom and inner layers - but much lighter overall. While I want to try the other pastries and famous Tartine loaf next time, I'd definitely make another trip out here for the morning bun. read more

This was my first visit to tartine in the sunset. It won't be my last! I ordered an omelet from the regular menu. It was very fresh and the salad that accompanied it was also delicious and beautiful! My bestie and I were strolling through the neighborhood when I recognized Tartine from all the reels I've been seeing, so I had to stop in for a little treat. Staffs were lovely and quick with services. The bakery is modern, cozy, and full of natural light, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It was busy during my visit at 2:30pm on a Sunday, but the line moved quickly. Still giving me enough time to admire and snap some pictures of their cute merchs. After researching about what to get at Tartine from the internet, I went with their signature Almond Frangipane Croissant. And I can proudly say that it absolutely lived up to the hype. The croissant was flaky, buttery, and filled with rich almond cream, while the sliced almonds on top added the perfect light crunch. Perfect amount of sweetness, and I basically inhaled it on the walk to my next stop. Easily one of the best almond croissants I've had in the Bay Area. Omg so yum! This was such a cute resturant in SF, walking distance to the gardens. The line is a little long, but it does go quickly. Food comes right to your table as well. We got the salmon toast, a salad, and the mushroom soup. The mushroom soup was probably the best thing I've tasted. I highly recommend and I would come again if I'm in there area! So noisy in here! It's great to socialize and the croissants are tasty but messy and difficult to eat without getting crumbs everywhere. Service was quick even though the line was long. The latte took a while to come out, but not unreasonably so. It was worth the wait. read more

On a recent trip to San Francisco a friend and I stopped for breakfast at Tartine. There was a line as expected, and the menu was quite a bit larger than the menus I have seen in the Los Angeles branches of the bakery. We were grabbing snacks for later because it was a packed day so I got a scone with sausage, Gouda and Calabrian chili. I didn't eat it until the next day and it was still so crumbly and flavorful. It had just the right amount of heat and salt and the meat made it more substantial. We ordered some coffee to drink in the café. I tried the morning bun latte with a house made simple syrup containing their signature bun flavor. I don't normally add sugar to my lattes and it was a little sweet, but a great cup of coffee. The absolute star of the show was the mushroom soup. It's hard for me to pass that option up when it's on a menu since I absolutely love mushrooms. This soup contained a mix of mushrooms, and there were whole mushrooms in almost every bite while the soup was velvety. The topping of olive oil oil and for a cocky were such a delicious touch. It was served piping hot, which is very important to me. I immediately started looking at all the Tartine menus in LA to see if any place serves that soup. I didn't get anything sweet on this visit, but have tried their famous pastries in the past. I also absolutely love their loaves of country bread and have taken that for family multiple times. I asked for my coffee, extra hot and they delivered. For a fast casual place. The service was absolutely wonderful. I could see how this could be an oasis in the city. read more

Cute little bakery in inner sunset that has some breakfast options and baked goods. I heard the morning buns were a must and I would get them every time I come. I tried the coffee cake as it looked interesting and the people by me were also interested. I would've stocked to just the morning bun next time. The breakfast sandwich was pretty filling but I think I would try other times on their menu next time. My friend and I waited for a bit before being able to get seating, and we tried a few items. Oat Milk latte: This was smooth and creamy, and a good drink to pair with our brunch. Got to Tartine at around 1pm on a Wednesday. There was no line when I walked in and still plenty of items left. I ordered the morning bun latte and some pastries. The latte was delicious. After trying the latte, it was not sweet enough for me and I asked the staff for extra syrup. Service was great and they were happy to adjust my drink for me. For pastries, I got the morning bun and plain croissant. The morning bun was flakey and just the perfect sweetness with the sugar on top. The plain croissant was also flakey and yummy! Solid bakery. This is our go to bakery whenever we hit up Cal Academy. We're huge fans of the plain croissant. All the bakery options are good. If you like savory, definitely recommend the sausage scone or the jamon croissant. The morning bun is perfect for a sweet tooth without being too sweet. Whenever we dined in, no issues with getting a table. Service is relatively fast, and it's nice to see the open kitchen. Typically get the tomato bisque soup with the mushroom grilled cheese! Happy that Tartine opened here. Great neighborhood spot. Tends to be touristy at lunch especially weekends as crowds show up from Golden Gate Park and the museums. I like to come mid week after the lunch rush so I can find a table but the downside is the display cases have been ransacked and not many options upside the few options they do have a good and the coffee is always tasty. When visiting San Francisco, make a stop at Tartine for lunch, a pastry and a loaf of bread for home to gnaw on during the week. Ahhhh bliss. First time here and went here on a Sunday for lunch. There is indoor seating and a few outdoor seating. You order first (they'll give you a number to place on the table), then sit at any open table, and they'll bring you your food. The water & condiments are self served. The food came out pretty quickly. Service was good. I got the smoked salmon tartine and my friend got the breakfast sandwich with sausage. The smoke salmon tartine was very good and tasty. The red onion was a nice touch to break the salmon taste. My friend also enjoyed her breakfast sandwich and coffee as well. If you want to take your food to go, there are boxes on the side where you can do that. There were a lot of people studying/working on their laptop; friends/family catching up; and pets! Ambiance was a nice coffee shop vibe. The only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because I do think the prices on the menu is a bit pricey! For weekends try to go before 1030am otherwise the line is crazy during lunch. 5/5 the morning bun has a chewy sticky center and a slight citrusy flavor. Delicious and one of their signature pastries to get 4/5 Fresno chili scone was pretty tasty but mostly got cheddar and no chili heat. This Tartine location in the Inner Sunset has a really nice and modern feel to it. The space is very open, and you can see the staff working in the kitchen which adds a cool behind-the-scenes vibe. It is more spacious compared to their Guerrero Street spot, and they have a few small tables both inside and outside where you can sit back and relax. They offer a little bit of everything when it comes to baked goods, and everything looked great. Prices are definitely on the higher side, and there are a few nearby bakeries that offer similar items at about half the price. Still, the quality is usually there and I've always been a fan of their morning buns. I went with one, but it ended up being a little dry and not quite what I remembered from their other location. I also ordered an americano, but it didn't have much flavor. The baker I spoke to was friendly and welcoming. The barista came off a bit cold, which made the overall vibe feel a little rushed. I'll probably stick to the Guerrero Street location next time, but it was still nice to finally check this one out. read more

Went here for a quick brunch with a friend, it's very cute inside but it was freezing as the doors were open. It's also very family friendly, we saw many moms with their babies. The service was very standard and good. I ordered the tuna sandwich and made it a melt for an additional $2 totaling $20ish for the sandwich. It was pretty lack luster and still parts of the sandwich were cold despite the $2 melt add on. The sandwich was served with a small and extremely vinegary carrot which was sour with a poor aftertaste and didn't have the good pickley crunch you'd expect. Weekend or early weekday, this place is packed. Never have I gone in or passed by and there was not a line out the door. Though long, the line moves fairly quickly. Workers are quick and definitely hardworking. Indoor/outdoor seating, outside is little bistro tables while inside there are benches + tables and regular chairs too. Spacious but limited seating nonetheless. Food: my favorite has been the omelette. Simple but absolutely delicious! Egg is fluffy and portioned well, side salad has such a lite dressing but is so yummy, it pairs phenomenally with the omelette. Pastries I've had their croissants and was blown away by them. Baked to perfection! Coffee is meh, I believe there is so much potential with their coffee. All in all, I would rate this place with 4.5 stars. The Caesar Salad was definitely one of the prettiest I've seen for a counter- order, with full anchovies and edible orange flowers. Been wanting to try here for so long! Came here at 10:00 AM on a Monday and there was still a decent line with all tables filled. Just stepping inside, the smell of fresh baked goods and sugar is in the air. I loved the high ceilings and outdoor seating option that were perfect for the sunny morning we were having. It was so hard to decide on what I wanted since everything looked so perfect and delicious! I got the Morning Bun and the Chocolate Poppyseed Coffee Cake, which they had just brought out and looked so good I had to get one immediately. These were hefty pastries and much bigger than they seemed in the display case. These staff were very pleasant and kind about giving recommendations. Morning Bun: 4/5, loved the citrusy, fruity flavors in the cinnamon spread. It was so fragrant and well-spiced without being overwhelming. The pastry came apart nicely, maybe more on the crispy side than buttery soft due to the sugared crust outside. A solid choice! Chocolate Poppyseed Coffee Cake: 5/5, this one took me by surprise! Not what you expect from a typical coffee cake -- this was layered pastry with coffee icing drizzled on top, defying the boundaries of what qualifies as a coffee cake. It was more akin to a babka because of how the chocolate was swirled in the pastry layers. I've never had poppyseed in a pastry, and it was delightful! Definitely a must try. The service is okay - they need more than one cashier to get food ordered for dining in or take out (the lines take too long). Ideally, one separate cashier for takeaway drinks and pastry. The ambiance is lively; families or couples seem to dominate the scene. It is noisy and crowded. I mostly takeaway because it's not very restful in the café - better to be in the San Francisco Botanical Gardens which are close by just within the 9th Avenue entrance of Golden Gate Park.
