Came in on 7/15/23 at 7:20pm. Fountain drinks had a huge sign that said "No ice". They cashier proceeds to say that their ice machine has not been working since yesterday!! I tell her I don't want a hot drink and if they subtract the drink from the Teka Plate. She says she doesn't know. I ask the manager who says that no one is ever charged for a drink, yeah right! I point out that there's a gas station across the street where they can buy ice and the manager tells me that she has no money to do anything. What a lame excuse. Oh, I ordered the Teka plate and the puffy tacos were soggy. As soon as I picked them up, they fell apart. There are better puffy tacos found at Ray's Drive Inn on the Westside. The bean roll was bland, but the guacamole cup was tasty. Oh, and the hot soda was the best on a 100°+ day!! The missing tile is a trip hazard and I watched two people trip. I think I will stick to the Westside to buy delicious puffy tacos and where they don't have hot soda. read more

Me and the family flew in to town and wanted to try out some TexMex in the area. This place did not disappoint! The breakfast chorizo con papa tacos were amazing, the beef enchiladas with the green sauce were so tasty I want seconds! I highly recommend this small eatery and will visit again. We hadn't been to Teka Molina in years, but decided to stop by for lunch a while back since I had read some good reviews about it. Uh, no. we didn't care for it. Not only is the restaurant old and unappealing, but the food was also way too expensive for what we got. There are so many Mexican restaurants in SA which we prefer. read more

Ratings are right on! Excellent food served fast (the back cooks were cooking like crazy!) in a non-nonsense setting. Order at the counter, sit and feast. Even the usually boring chicken fajita taco salad was a cut above the rest. Husband had the "classic" cheese enchiladas, and loved them. Only music was conversation around you- no TVs to distract from the food and the company. The guy picking up the dirty dishes was also on fire. Happy we landed here for lunch. read more

The staff was very friendly and generous I give them that. They were out of the beef fajita meat which for me is a huge bummer. The queso was so thick it was almost the texture of mashed potatoes. When I mentioned it to the staff he did bring me out a new one that wasn't quite a thick but was still very thick. The rest of the food when it came out looked fabulous, but looks can be deceiving. It was sooooo greasy!!!!! The cheese wasn't melted in the cheese enchiladas and all you could really taste was the grease they lightly fried the corn tortilla in. The bean roll was just a greasy tortilla with a tablespoon of refried beans in it. The puffy tacos were pretty decent but nothing to brag about. The guacamole cup was super cute though props on that! My wife and I have been patrons of TEKA MOLINO SINCE 1972 when we were working at the Southwestern Bell building across the street. It was great then and maybe even better now after 52 years. Everything starts with their masa and the way they process the corn. While many claim to have invented puffy tacos, including TEKA, none are as good as Teka Molino. Everything is great here and you will always be treated like a rock star at TEKA. FYI: My Father invented Frito Pie as a 14 year old boy walking home from Central Catholic High School. read more

This is a review of their food truck which came to Timberwood Park. First they do no skimp on their Tequila for their Chispa Margaritas. The Green Enchilada Plate was very good and had a nice bit of heat to it. The Fried Cheese Taco and Sopapullas were very good. My wife had a Margarita, Guacamole cup, and 1 Beef and 1 Chicken Fajita Taco. Everything was delicious and hit the spot. I would suggest not to eat here. They now take any type of dogs they don't even have to be a service animal. Why does anyone want to eat with a dog? This used to be one of my favorite places but I will no longer come here because of that. So for dog lovers I would suggest bringing all types of animals to this establishment. It's a cute hole in the wall type of place but the food seriously lacks flavor. You know a chorizo and egg taco is good when you see the grease leaking out from the foil...no grease to be found...anywhere! Wow, just surprisingly good! We first saw this place on a local TV news segment that features unique eateries in the viewing area. Actually it was the second restaurant opened, so we thought we'd try the original. It would be easy to drive by given the number of Mexican places to choose from, but by all means, stop. You order at a counter and they bring your order to your table. (Look for them on Netflix "Taco Chronicles) Make the trek! I had the green chili chicken enchiladas and my wife the chalupas. Their green chili sauce is one of the best out there! It had the right amount of heat and paired with the cheese was delicious. They make everything in house and it was fresh and brimming with flavor.One of the things I'm a little nervous about in ordering things like chicken enchiladas is that on more than one occasion the chicken was either stringy or tasted like...well nothing. It was added at the last minute. This you could tell was cooked or stewed with vegetables and spices and you could just eat it by itself. My order came with guacamole, which usually I pretty bland and I treat it as a plate dressing, but this was chunky, with onions and vegetables and really great. My wife loved her chalupas and she is not one to comment on sides, but said she loved the rice and refried beans. The main reason for a 5 was that after we were leaving and heading home, we both said at the same time, "wow that was really good." Staff were friendly and very outgoing. Food is usually on point. The gentlemen that answer the phone he's always nice but today when I went in it was a different experience I bought two tacos, which were five dollars EACH. Portion control was very small. ( not exaggerating.) but the problem comes in when I order a beef fajita , it doesn't have onions or bell pepper as advertised. I looked when I got in my vehicle I immediately went back in the gentlemen was nice, but the cook had a attitude and was speaking in Spanish upset that she didn't put onion and bell pepper. She grabbed them out of the fridge as if she was angry looking at me . She didn't let them cook long very crunchy and added them to the taco I returned . Not a very nice lady. I love this restaurant so much. Home or the Guacamole Cup and some of the best cheese enchiladas I've ever had. I've been eating here for twenty years! My mom has been eating here for longer. They have something called a bean roll that people love. This is a place that you walk up to, order, get a ticket number and wait for your number to be called. There's lots of seating and natural light. This is a casual place and I like that about it. I've never had breakfast or tacos here. In my never ending quest to find the best tamales in the world, I popped into this place on a whim and struck gold! I only got 2 dozen tamales to go, but I can't wait to go back and sit down and explore the menu! They have everything! And several specialty items I'd like to try. I'm probably going to order all 3 of their little cups. And everything is really reasonably priced. A lot of add-ons in the under $2 range. Tamales are $1.15 ea or 10.99/dozen. It's a really cute, clean place with great staff! It's counter service and you can see the guys on the line making the food. They were rocking and rolling. Well it happened, one of my favorite Mexican food places lost a step today. Went there for lunch and ordered The Classic", two cheese enchiladas rice and beans. We ordered a to go meal from Teka Molino a couple weeks back. Once I arrived, it didn't take long for me to grab the meal, pay, and go. While our meals were good (and pretty cheap), it was basic tex-mex. I did enjoy the unique menu items, like the little bean cups and interesting flavors of tacos, but I'm not sure this will be a repeater for us. We're pretty picky when it comes to restaurants we frequent more than once. Like I said - this place is great if you're looking for some local tex-mex to hit the spot. It will definitely do that! The "quantity of food is pretty good. The quality is average, it wasn't as flavorful as I would've liked it to be or what thought it would be. I felt like I had to keep adding salt. The puffy tacos need to be just a little bit more crispy, when I bit into the taco I like to do hear that taco It doesn't have to be a hard crunchy taco but it does need to be a crispy taco because that's a puffy taco you know that's how it is. You can order things à la cart. It was a good crowd. People seem to be happy to be there and it's a place where you would see a lot of regulars. You had to order at the counter. Great for breakfast!! When it comes to the lunch dishes, it not terrible TexMex, but maybe not my favorite. I may be a poor judge as most people come here for the puffy tacos (something I have never tried). They are closed on Sundays, which makes getting breakfast there on weekends a bit difficult. The legendary Teka Molino: here goes. Finally, after almost 7 years of living in San Antonio and seeing this place probably hundreds of times on San Pedro and a few dozen on harry wars Bach, I decided to finally stop in and see what this place was about. I think they're probably the best experience on most San Antonio restaurants in probably the busiest time throughout the day for most restaurants is breakfast. I stopped by and tried some of the World famous San Antonio breakfast tacos that this place had to offer. Actually I believe my first visit I was captivated by the $5.99 price of the Carne guisada plate. And it came with the soda! How can you go wrong? The flavor of the CG was a bit different than most of the offerings around town. Probably the main star in this offering was the meats and the pepper, black pepper that is that is used to season this preparation. The small tender tasty chunks of beef were a welcome addition to my crude generous tacos creations with the accompanying refried beans and fried potato chunks commonly referred to as papas by the locals. Big red on the soda fountain was also a welcome addition. Although the salsa is both green and red were not my favorite, the red did suffice and spicy up the tacos that I made. The tortillas tasted like they were made in house. I ordered a Jimmy Dean sausage taco that was a little disappointing after tasting the wonderful country sausage that was mistakenly given to me. The country sausage is the higher quality pepped variety that is commonly grilled in the area. Bravo for that Teka! It is now one of my favorites. They also have a taco special with a drink for like $4 and is great if you are not a heavy hitter. The chorizo is also very tasty and tastes like the stuff I grew up with in West Texas known as a San Antonio chorizo--definitely a classic. The migas/chilaquiles were a bit of a let down, like so many places in San Antonio. Maybe that's what the locals like. This is the second time I have had lunch here- both times the food has been really good;however!!!!, the first time there were (dead) flies everywhere and dirty tables that hadnt been bussed. Once again the mole enchiladas were good, but the restaurant needed a DEEP CLEAN. Grimy windows, greasy booths, clogged sink in ladies bathroom that just didn't drain (door lock broken too).
