The Sweetfin is a convenient chain for quick bites in DTLA. I've tried few of their signature poke bowls, decent quality and affordable prices, about $15~$20 per order. You can also build your own bowls. Classic Tuna - **** miso sesame shoyu, red onion, togarashi, avocado, seaweed salad, bean sprouts, pickled ginger, light and fresh taste, recommend Shiitake Chile Tofu - *** miso sesame shoyu sauce, chile oil, cilantro, rapini, pickled fresno, vegetarian option

Great healthy food concept! But very bad prep & presentation (you can compare pix posted). To begin with, I ordered ahead due to lack of parking in that area. So I was hoping to just do a pick up. The food was not ready when I arrived and it took a little longer than expected to prep it even though the place was empty. The Salmon was not fully baked; just warmed. The server was nice in allowing me to substitute the kale salad for cauliflower rice yet the rice was cold. The salmon was lukewarm & not very tasty. Despite my being hungry, I did not enjoy this bowl. This is unusual for me because when I am hungry, everything tastes good! What is good at this establishment, is their spicy tuna poke bowl. Have had that before & reason why I returned but I definitely do not recommend the salmon bowl.

I am a fan of Sweetfin! There is nothing like a high quality poke bowl made with so much creativity an interesting flavors on a lunch break! The first time I had delivery from here, I tried their truffled Yuzu albacore bowl with mushrooms and bamboo rice. The fish was so creamy, fresh, and the bamboo rice, light, and fragrant. I had it with a side of Sriracha mayo which gave it even more creamy richness! The next bowl I tried was a Yuzu salmon poke bowl with black rice and their citrus kale salad. The fish and veggies was incredibly fresh. However, I will stick to the bamboo rice for next time since the black rice was a bit heavy and the citrus kale a little too tart for my taste. Service was on point by ensuring my order was accurate and that it was packed carefully for delivery. The restaurant is small, but it looks clean and more ideal for delivery or pick up than dine in. I feel very lucky this place is so close to work!

It was good. The fish didn't taste super fresh but the flavors from the rest of the bowl were good. I got a to-go order and the service was great! The workers were very kind and attentive. I didn't notice until later but they did forgot to add ginger to my bowl . Other then that everything was correct

Honestly I had better poke bowls in other places. Wasn't a big fan of Sweetfin ... not sure if I'll eat here again. I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing the poke. They are pretty accurate. The only thing I liked a lot was the rice and maybe the yuzu sauce. The rest was ehhhhh .... The restaurant was clean and had a nice vibe to it, customer service was ok. Small portions ... paid $32 for two bowl that was supposedly the large size, other places that's the small size. Anyway read some of the recent reviews before stopping by.

I just ordered this through Uber eats. Because I work down the street from DTLA. I am totally in love with their Bamboo Rice, first time I had it. I ordered a Large Build Your Own Bowl with Salmon and Albacore and I enjoyed it. But like the other reviews, the large is actually quite small ( Would be a small at other places). The Hibiscus drink was also refreshing. I would order from here again, but order 2 large bowls!

Hi, which sauce doesn't have sugar in it? Thanks!

Hi Lina - the only sauces with sugar in them are our Sriracha Ponzu and Ponzu Lime sauces. The other sauces do not have added sugar.

What's bamboo rice and what's forbidden rice?

There are many more flavorful authentic options throughout LA. The service was, well, nonexistent. The server never checked up on our table after the food was served. There's a strong possibility we would've ordered more food, definitely more beverages, had he checked on our table. At one point, a woman who appeared to be manager/owner walked into the restaurant, and her and server went to a booth at the back of the restaurant, closed the curtains and left the restaurant with no discernible servers for the duration of their "meeting". It took over 20 mins to simply pay for the meal. Overheard a table over confronting the server over a discrepancy over the tip amount, the 20% amount on the pay machine actually being more than 20% of the bill. This tracks with what others have cautioned. Location and ambiance is lovely, but not enough to warrant a revisit.

Nearly two hours for a takeout order is excessive, especially without clear communication or updates about the delay. When I arrived, I was informed that part of the order had been sitting out for about an hour. I wasn't comfortable accepting food that had been sitting that long, so I chose to cancel the order rather than wait even longer for a fresh remake. Again, the food here is genuinely delicious, and that's the reason I'm leaving this review instead of simply never coming back. My issue isn't with the quality of the food--it's with the order management, communication, and customer service surrounding this experience. I hope management can improve these issues because the food deserves better than the experience I had.

They advertise a free soft drink for following and tagging them on social media, but I was pleasantly surprised that they gave me more than just the soda. The yubu was fun to try, and there were several healthy tea options to choose from. I honestly wanted to try them all since they're not the kind of teas you come across very often. The only downside for me was the roll--it was smaller than I expected for the price. Looking back, I would probably skip the roll and order a cup bap or a few more pieces of yubu instead. I also noticed quite a few people picking up to-go orders, so ordering ahead is probably the way to go if you want to avoid the long wait.

We had an rsvp but wasn't busy when we arrived. Was sat immediately and served water. They have a pretty extensive menu of most things you'd find at a sushi cut roll spot. We ended up ordering the toro garlic toast, veggie tempura, ginza roll, and several pieces of nigiri sushi. The toro garlic toast was pretty good - sort of like a spicy tuna crispy rice situation ... but a little fattier and more garlicky than crispy. The ginza roll was pretty good too - a lot of fish in the roll and wasn't overwhelming with too much sauce. The tempura was good too- not super oily and all your typical veg involved. The nigiri sushi were pretty well prepared. The size was pretty good for the price - and each were accompanied by a small garnish on top or a little bit of sauce brushed on. All in all - I wouldn't say it's a date night place, but is a good easy eats sushi spot for rolls and nigiri for the price. Would recommend!

First impressions: the place is pretty simple. Don't expect a super decorated sushi bar or that "wow, this feels like a hidden Tokyo gem" vibe. It's more casual and a bit plain inside. Service also felt a little... rookie. Our waiter was nice but seemed new to the job -- a bit unsure and not very engaging. Now let's talk about the food. We ordered a mix of sashimi, nigiri, and rolls -- salmon sashimi, bluefin sashimi, rainbow roll, Red Dragon roll, sweet shrimp, eel nigiri, and a baked salmon roll. Presentation was actually quite nice (orchids and plating looked great for photos, but the sashimi slices were thinner than expected. The fish tasted fresh enough, but overall the food landed in the "good but not memorable" category. Solid sushi, just nothing that really made us go "wow." If I were judging purely on food and atmosphere, this would probably land around 2.5 stars for me. BUT... here's where the night got sweeter. When the staff heard our daughter had just won her gymnastics competition, they surprised her with a free ice cream to celebrate. That was a really thoughtful gesture and totally made her night. On top of that, they also brought complimentary miso soup for our whole table (4 of us), which was a nice unexpected bonus. Little things like that go a long way, especially when you're dining with kids. It turned what would have been a pretty average dinner into a warm family moment. So while the sushi itself was just okay, the kindness from the staff bumped this review up to 3.5 stars for me. Would I go out of my way to come here? Probably not. But if I'm nearby and craving sushi again, I'd consider stopping in -- especially since they were so sweet to our little champion.

Recently, it came back to mind, so I looked it up and found out that the Little Tokyo location had permanently closed. After doing a little more research, I discovered that they had relocated to DTLA. I had been craving a Hamburg steak lately, which was one of the main reasons I decided to visit. My mom ordered the Sukiyaki, and I ordered the Hamburg steak. We shared both dishes, and unfortunately, the Sukiyaki was unbelievably salty. It tasted as if someone had poured an entire bottle of soy sauce into it. Even when eaten together with the rice that came with it, it was still overwhelmingly salty. The beef was also very tough, which made the dish even more disappointing. As for the Hamburg steak, the portion size was extremely small. On the positive side, it came with a generous serving of rice, a salad, and miso soup. The Hamburg steak itself tasted good, but it was severely overcooked and heavily charred, which was a huge disappointment. Until recently, I wasn't particularly focused on my health, but both of my parents have been dealing with health issues, and seeing that has made me much more health-conscious. I've been trying to avoid burnt foods and charred meats whenever possible. I've also cut out ham, sausages, sugary juices, and sodas. Because of that, I was especially disappointed to see my Hamburg steak burned so badly that parts of it were almost black. The restroom required walking down a very long flight of stairs. While it was spacious and clean, it had a somewhat eerie atmosphere, probably because it was located in the basement. There were only stairs and no obvious alternative access, which made me wonder how customers with disabilities would be able to reach the restroom. The service was very friendly and welcoming. However, between the disappointing food, the inconvenient parking situation (street parking only--fortunately, thanks to my usual incredible parking luck, I managed to find the one available parking space), and the difficulty of accessing the restroom, I don't think I'll be returning. Overall, I was especially disappointed by the food, and for that reason, I probably won't be visiting again. But, I gave the tip 20%. Cuz, the service was friendly.
