From your seasonal fresh fruit to your house made granola, the tasty pecan sweet crisps, delicious tomato mozzarella sandwiches, tasty salads, and mouthwatering desserts & pastries. Every time our office has a meal catered by Corner Bakery I do a happy dance. I'm glad that this location is conveniently located across the street from my DTLA office, so I can get my fix on a weekly basis. I stopped in the other day for a sweet treat. Stopped in here the other day for lunch. This location is near the middle of cal plaza with ample seating outside and around the restaurant. I got the pick two with half a bowl of the broccoli cheddar soup and a half rustic Italian sandwich. Both the soup and sandwich were tasty, and everything came out quickly and fresh. For breakfast, we got power bowls, pancakes, and iced coffee. I like that there's an additional coffee add-ons station as well. The bowl was very filling and pancakes were fluffy and sweet. Since I've started working in the area, Corner Bakery at the 1Cal Marketplace has been in my lunch rotating quite often. It's nothing fancy but it never pretended to be! The employees are all nice and hardworking. My only small gripe is that sometimes it's hard to get their attention when you're there for pickup. Speaking of which, always order ahead if you're here for lunch as they get quite busy/chaotic. But they really do bust their backs to get all the orders out in a timely manner. I appreciate that they always check the orders before handing out the food to make sure nothing is missing. My usual go-to order is either the Carved Ham & Swiss or the Club Panini. I also tried the Meatball Panini but I wasn't a fan as the panini is smushed down so the meatballs are pretty thin/barely there (it comes with a dipping marinara sauce). The menu is not really complicated and you can modify any order so you're bound to get something you like. All in all, this Corner Bakery will get the job done if you want a little something for breakfast or lunch. Most get their food to go but there's plenty of tables inside if you want to stay (not to mention a plethora of shaded tables outside in the marketplace if you want some fresh air). This is probably the cleanest Corner Bakery I've been to and the employees deserve kudos for dealing with entitled businesspeople/brats on a daily basis. read more

We found ourselves stuck in downtown LA one afternoon and we were looking for a little haven where we could charge our phones and have a civilized tea time. The Corner Bakery below 1 Cal on Grand Avenue downtown was the perfect oasis. They served us some fortifying tea and we had a couple of yummy pastries as well. I visited the corner bakery in Dowtown Los Angeles on Grand. The place is very clean. The staff is very polite and take pride in their work and food. The food is very delicious and very filling portions. Everything I have eaten is super delicious and wishing I could have seconds. Prices are very reasonable for portions. One thing they need to improve is making sure they add all the trimmings for your to go order. So double check your order, but if you tell them what you are missing, they immediately will give you what you need. read more

Corner Bakery Cafe is in the Cal Plaza complex in DTLA, probably 4 doors away from SOHO yoga studio. In past years, I've been to their other locations in Beverly Grove and the two in Irvine but this DTLA is the worst. I stopped inside to grab some baked goods Togo and I must have stood in line for over 10mins, because the rotund cashier couldn't get her act together. There were over a dozen people who already ordered, paid and were waiting impatiently for their food. Meanwhile I visually counted a staff of at least 8 standing around, aimlessly lost, like slow moving slugs, not working to move the line. I just cannot stand being witness to inefficiency. This place is popular because it is low cost. The food is not great, tastes bad and is sloppy at assembly and you get what you pay for :( I Always give businesses the benefit of the doubt for improvement, but sadly, this Corner Bakery Failed AGAIN; I blame management. They deliver fresh, quality items and the tastiest breakfast items. Breakfast or lunch, you can't go wrong. The delivery is quick, the coffee is hot and the bakery and breakfast items are always consistently tasty. I do not order juice through them though, because the container is small for what you can pay for a much larger quantity at a store. Ah, yes, Corner Bakery. A known quantity. If I'm ever in the mood for a quick salad and sandwich, I know that Corner Bakery is a solid choice. They have a "pick 2" option where you can pick two items amongst any of their salads, soups, pastas, and sandwiches. There are a ton of options, but this time I went with the harvest salad and chicken pomodori panini. It's a great deal for good sized portions. I sometimes eat just one of the entrees and save the other for a late afternoon snack or even dinner. The harvest salad is what it sounds like - a salad with a bountiful harvest of great flavors and goodness. White-meat chicken, greens, green apples, toasted walnuts, cranberries, blue cheese, raisin pecan crisps with balsamic vinaigrette. It's a great spectrum of flavors - the sweet cranberries and raisin pecan crisps battling with the tart green apples and pungent blue cheese, with the nuttiness of the walnuts dueling with the bright dressing. The chicken adds some neutrality, and the protein helps make the salad pretty filling. I've tried other paninis here, but I always return to the chicken pomodori. "Pomodori" is the Italian word for tomatoes, and this sandwich is aptly named. The sandwich comes with chicken, fresh basil and spinach, with melty provolone cheese and pesto mayo with oven-roasted tomatoes. It's a rich, creamy, decadent culinary experience, and the flavors all melt into each other to create a great Italian inspired panini. The pickle served on the side is a nice break from the rich flavors, and the chips served on the side are also a nice, crispy, salty, crunchy departure. This location doesn't have many tables and is meant more for the take-out crowd for all the near-by office buildings. You can also order online, which is a good move since the line and wait can get pretty long. I also feel like this location doesn't have as many dessert options as some of the other Corner Bakery's, but the few that I've tried have been good. Overall, I'd recommend this location. read more

I've tried the California panini and turkey avocado sandwich before, and they were both good. The Asian salad is delicious too, but I would get dressing on the side and put less for health reasons. Just opened today and they were giving out a bag of cookies to the first 200 customers. I ordered the Commuter Croissant. It was a little on the cold side. They used fresh eggs and Croissant, but the bacon definitely was not made to order. It was cold and not crispy. Definitely tasted like it was cooked earlier in batches and just sitting there. One thing I do have an issue with is the Croissant was put in a larger plastic container. By the time I sat down to eat it, all of the ingredients was all over the container. It would have been nice to have them wrap the sandwich instead. I think putting it in the container is a waste. I know they are going for presentation, but I'd rather they be economical than wasteful. Hopefully management sees this and reconsiders the way they package their sandwiches. read more

I've been to Corner Bakery quite a few times and each visit is pretty average. Located in the Cal Plaza area, Corner Bakery is right next to Salata. I usually get the Choose Any Two Combo with half of a Spinach Sweet Crisp Salad and half Uptown Turkey Avocado. The salad is one of my favorites and has baby spinach, freshly sliced strawberries, oranges, grapes, cranberries, green onions and creamy goat cheese with raisin pecan sweet crisps and strawberry vinaigrette. Quality is a hit or miss. I've had mushy strawberries and soggy spinach before, but I've also had super fresh veggies. It really depends. The sandwich is my absolute favorite and has smoked turkey breast, applewood smoked bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomatoes and mayo on whole grain harvest toast. It's basically a BLTA and the flavors work well together. Service is slower than I would like. After ordering, it takes about 10-15 minutes on average for my number to called. Come by noon or else you'll wait at least 20 minutes. Download the Ritual app to order on your phone and pick up in store! Definitely a time-saver for all you lawyers/accountants/bankers in the area. read more

This location lacks organization and professionalism. I had called in an order at 8am and requested a pickup at 10:30am. The person who took my order had confirmed my order and provided me with a total. I asked if I should pay over the phone and was told that this was not necessary. I arrived 5 minutes before 10:30am and paid for my order and they only started making my order after I had paid. The lady at the register was nice and offered me a beverage while I waited however this does not excuse the fact that my order was not ready when I asked for it. In addition, there were plenty of associates adjust walking around taking their time to do nothing. When they finally handed me my order, I noticed that items were missing.
