This place is not as good as other Seattle style teriyaki places we've tried. We've tried this spot twice now and both times it was just under the meh level, thus the two stars. The flavor is a bit bland, even when ordered spicy. I dunno if they over thicken with corn starch but each time we've ordered we were left with thickened mouth juice after eating the food. Like thick saliva and such, making it kind of weird and off putting to swallow after finishing the meal. The menu doesn't make ordering v3ge+arian or v3g@n easy at all. After giving this spot two tries and having the same experience on both occasions, we'll go elsewhere for Seattle style teriyaki henceforth. read more

My husband and I been coming here lately and the food is great! He ordered orange chicken with gyoza and I ordered chicken and honey sesame. The owner is very kind he gave us banana pudding to try and it's one of the best desserts we've had so far. We recommend this place and the music is so chill.... First time here. It's very close to my gym so I stopped in for a takeaway lunch based on a thumbs up from the chef Kenji Lopez Alt. Unlike some other reviews my experience was very good, granted it was early and they weren't busy yet. The gentleman at the count was friendly and welcoming. I ordered the chicken teriyaki with gyoza and waited 5 or 6 minutes for it to arrive. As with most Seattle teriyaki the portion was huge, with 5 gyozas and lots of white rice, chicken and salad, accompanied by two sauce containers and a third with salad dressing. The salad is cabbage, which may bother some folks, but I thought it was good, topped with the typical sweet mayo dressing. The gyozas were crispy, not greasy and just fine. Both the chicken and rice tasted fresh and the sauces were good. For me this was enough for two meals so the price was right at around $17. I'll definitely be stopping by again! read more

Upon receipt they served what I asked for, which would've been $14.99 but they added coleslaw calling it "salad" and rice which I didn't ask for costing me $17.40. But the WORSE part was (their) "beef". As an American I surely know what beef tastes like and THIS IS NOT BEEF. It was a light brown color, very very soft and SLIMY. I'm not sure if I'm eating at a different place than a lot of these reviews or what, but I've never once had a problem with my food or with cleanliness here. I do think they've changed hands recently; the inside has had a touch up (and the tv removed), and the menu has been MASSIVELY pared down-- to its benefit, I think. They focus on teriyaki chiefly now, instead of incorporating a ton of different Asiatic foods. On to the food itself: it's great! My favorite is the chicken yakisoba, which is jam-packed with meat and veggies (with the veggies actually grilled up properly, which gets them extra points), but the classic teriyakis are great too. Not to mention the GARGANTUAN portions. One plate is enough for two meals, at LEAST, so you're getting your money's worth. Free soup: gotta love it. Is it fine dining? Of course not! But for teriyaki you can do a heck of a lot worse. I'll come here any day of the week. read more

How far to say the least this place has went straight to hell. first I ordered and then my mom n sisters they didn't get one of my sister's order so my sister's order and then had to wait an additional 10 minutes to get her meal as we ate without her. they didn't have any clean spoons for soup. And there limited amount of sodas as a choice of Beverage sucked. since they no longer serve bubble teas anymore. they don't give you napkins when you get served your pho soup. when are meals came they look different from previous versions the chicken was extremely Flubbery drenched in a really really sweet sauce and I went to get a bottle labeled as teriyaki sauce which i poured all over my rice once I took a bite I knew was a horrible mistake it was like Worcestershire sauce as a teriyaki sauce awful. we asked our server to please bring more napkins then I had to holler at her because she forgot or wasn't caring about getting them for us. but what surprised me the most was there were several people in the restaurant and the Chef & the waitress lady the from the front brought out meals of Their Own started eating in the lobby with their work gloves on eating, scratching their heads, touching things and then getting up to take orders, handle cash and food I'm pretty sure they're not following any of the health code rules after seeing this I will never come back to this restaurant again. i will make sure that anybody that ever asked me about this terrible place informed to not eat hear as u may get food poisoning do to unsafe and unclean food handling procedures. Five stars because this may be the best chicken teriyaki I've ever had. Cleanliness and atmosphere are a three at best but the public health notice on the door says Good. The thinly sliced cabbage is wildly good especially when compared to the limp soggy salad-like thing served with so much teriyaki. This place is in my hood so I thought I should check it out. The space is clean and filled with plenty of tables. My first impression of the menu was...meh. Teriyaki, yakisoba, beef broccoli, pho, etc. I came in curious about the pho but when I arrived, it was clear this is not a pho restaurant. I ended up getting the beef teriyaki and chicken katsu. If you dine in, you get complimentary soup - miso or some other chicken variety today. You go up to the counter and order. Your food will be brought out later with a fork wrapped in a napkin. If you want chopsticks, grab it yourself in near the condiment/beverage/soup/pho vegetable station. There was no soy sauce available for customers. On each table sat salt, pepper, hoisin, and sriracha. Glasses, mugs and soup bowls are available at the station inside a case that seems to emit UV rays. It was cool looking. The beef was a decent cut of meat with not much grizzle. The important thing is that the meat was marinated well. Where I'm from, we marinade meat at least 24 hours. This had really nice flavor. The cabbage salad was basically, cabbage and dressing. Bland and boring. The chicken katsu was fried well. It was a nice, lean cut of chicken. I actually prefer a fattier cut but hey, it's a bit more healthy. The katsu sauce was too vinegary for my taste and a bit off in flavor. Adding sriracha helped. A lot. The miso soup is watered down. It has bits of tofu in it but no seaweed (which I love). It was a decent meal. I'll eat there again but it's not my first choice. Other competitors in the area give larger portions and have a more cohesive menu. read more

I really tried not to hate this place! After the first bad meal I should of just not returned but I thought everyone has a bad day. I work close by and it's convenient so I tried again this time trying the chicken teriyaki! It get it back to my work and I'm starving and I open it up it looks amazing and big portion. After 3 bites of the chicken I had to stop eating it. The chicken tasted like dirty socks(for lack of a better term) at least I had the rice. This time I have learned my lesson and won't be back. Alright! Finally a small time teriyaki place on my daily commute that i can be excited about! (Sorry sunny teriyaki) As far as I know, they're brand new, thus the grand opening sign. Right next to Starbucks. There's FREE soup for dine in. Did I mention its FREE?!? Their menu is large enough so you're not choosing from the same things every time, and their interior is a step up from file floors and second hand tables and chairs. Not classy, but definitely something more. And have you seen their pho bowls? HUGE. Just sayin' I'm a chubby girl, and even I can't down a whole entree in one sitting. I would have given 3 stars if it wasn't for the bad service. The food is decent and the servings very large. One order can feed two people especially if you combine it with the free soup which by the way, the employee won't bother telling that to you so just be aware that free soup does come with the meal. The staff member that waited on us was not friendly or helpful. Not a single smile or friendly word. A group of people left and loudly say bye and thank you in a polite and sincere manner. She just turned her back and ignored them. The soup thing really annoyed me. The front of the building says "grand opening" be friendly and helpful and let people know about their options. I asked for a box which I have no problem getting myself but do a little more than just point. That's the only reason I knew about the soup and by this point I was full. The pho's broth and noodles were ok, but the beef was tough and gristly, like what I'd imagine well done tbone at Denny's might taste like. The chicken teriyaki was generously portioned, but very low effort. The white meat chicken strips reminded me of the cheap premade chicken strips you might find with one of those salad kits. When we first came in, the place was almost empty. We walked up to the register and started looking at the menu. The menu looked great that we wanted to buy the whole menu. I ordered the spicy chicken, which has a great taste. It came with salad, and rice. The ambiance is good at this place. The table are not super clean though. The downfall about this place is its service. The woman worked there did not recognize us while coming in, and going out as well. This place has gone downhill big time. First they tried to charge me a dollar more than what their menu showed. Then, they tried to say it was because of tax like people can't do math. Then when I got my food the portions were about of what I had received in the past and the fried rice was cold, not even warm. I used to think there was no bad teriyaki, but this place proved me wrong. Got the beef stir fry. Veggies were still cold but the meat was in very thick slices and too tough to chew. I asked for a replacement and had to pay for it. So I basically spend $20+ on sub par, overly salty, precut then cooked chicken. You know how most places cook the chicken whole and then cut it when it's done? Not here!! Then they assaulted it with an abundance of toasted sesame seeds on top. Put that at the condiment bar and don't assume everybody wants that. Sure it's open on Sunday, but just wait for another day to get the good stuff somewhere else. Won't be back. read more
