I've been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years, and the food has always been consistently amazing -- which makes this review especially disappointing to write. Unfortunately, the service during our most recent visit completely missed the mark. We were seated in the patio and, for the first 20 minutes, our waiter (a tall, bald gentleman) never came to take our order. During that time, he was visibly occupied taking shots and socializing with a group of women at another table. We eventually had to ask another server to take our order and that's when he called our server to attend to our table. After our food arrived, we tried to order additional drinks, but they never came, because again, our waiter was busy chatting and taking shots with the same party instead of attending to his section and forgot. At that point, we were both frustrated and disappointed. To make matters worse, I had noted in the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, and it was never acknowledged. We ultimately had to flag down another server just to get our check. The food remains excellent, but the level of service we experienced was unprofessional and inattentive -- especially for a place we've supported for over a decade. I truly hope management addresses this, because the restaurant deserves service that matches the quality of its food, not a server taking shots and forgetting to do his job.

Service was so friendly, attentive and food came out quick! We ordered edamame and a couple rolls. OMG Roll was delicious and we subbed the tuna for salmon in the Lemon Roll. Plenty of seating and a cozy place to pop in for a great bite.

Teru came highly recommended from my friend - who lives in the area - and is some of the tastiest sushi I've had! We ordered the yellowtail belly with uni and truffle (from the special menu), twilight roll, and dragon roll. The flavors of each were so complex yet complementary; I've never had truffle with sushi before, but it works! Our server Nomi was stellar, attentive even though dinner service was quite busy on a Sunday. Her colleague (didn't catch her name) also always made sure our water glasses were filled! The restaurant has several sushi chefs behind the counter, so you aren't kept waiting long for your order. Finally, I felt the pricing was very fair for the quality of the rolls served - yet another incentive to come back and try more! Granted, neither my friend nor I drink, so with the waters our tab came out to just under $40 per person. For yellowtail, uni, crab, and eel, what more could you really ask for?

Came here for dinner during the week and it was busy. We started with spicy tuna rice cakes, garlic edamame, and shrimp & vegetable tempura. The spicy tuna had a nice kick and the rice cakes were crispy on the outside. The garlic edamame had garlic slices mixed in with it. The shrimp & vegetable tempura were fresh and had a crispy batter. The OMG roll is a spicy tuna roll with crispy onions and yellowtail sashimi. The rolls are fresh and the menu is large enough to have a lot of variety. Parking- valet parking

The Fly fell into the sauce, crawled out, then fly away. I found it extremely entertaining and then asked for a new bowl of dipping sauce.

Our friend Christina Pope took us out for another stellar meal. This time it was Teru Sushi. Ambience was great as we were seated in the back garden area. It was a bit hot back there with the only drawback being a fly who decided to go for a swim in the gyoza dipping sauce, otherwise a great dining experience. Our server Josh was extremely attentive and did a wonderful job making sure everyone was taken care of and satisfied with our selections. The food was very good and well plated. The only complaint was everything came out at one time which made things a bit unmanageable for our 4 person table. I am glad there was only 3 of us.

Too busy of a place but yet two hostesses were not on point. From the get go service was slow , no menu delivery. After seated and what felt like an eternity I finally got menus & waters. Sushi quality and especially the rice here is great. When places get too busy the service slacks. Food came out of order placement and late. But I still enjoyed everything.

Dinner date night at Teru Sushi was an absolutely wonderful experience! I loved the little entry walkway just outside that gives the feeling you've been transported away from Ventura Blvd with the relaxing little bench, pond, and other decor. The hostess inside was warm, welcoming, and had us seated immediately. Service from the waitress was also very quick and attentive with making sure we had any items or refills as needed. On to the sushi!! There were so many appealing sounding options from the creative menu names and accompanying descriptions, but we ended up going with the Sushi Combination, 'Studio City' rolls, and some Spicy Tuna Rice Cakes. For drinks, we did a Strawberry Nigori Sake, which was a deliciously light and fruity accompaniment to all our sushi! I loved everything we ordered, and also found the portions quite generous, with both of us being left very full. A few notes: For the Sushi Combination, I loved that it came with a little side of miso soup. Relaxing and soothing, miso soup is always a must for me at Japanese restaurants! Also, a lot of the sushi for the sushi combination plate had a bit of wasabi on them...that wasn't an issue to me, but if you're someone who doesn't care for wasabi, such as my partner, that may bother you a bit. The 'Studio City' rolls were definite highlights of the meal for the both of us - FULL of salmon, cream cheese, avocado, tempura batter, spicy mayo, AND more....it all went together surprisingly well and was an amazing fusion of flavor, creaminess, & slight heat that ended up working perfectly! The Spicy Tuna Rice Cakes were also very solid and delicious to enjoy! We loved everything we ordered for our dinner, and the 'Studio City' rolls are a MUST ORDER! From ambiance, service, and the sushi/other food itself, I highly recommend and will be returning in the future to try more menu options!

Teru Sushi is a must try! The ambiance is very intimate and the outside seating area has pretty scenery with foliage and a fish pond. I really appreciated their complimentary cucumber water and their soft spicy tuna rice! Has got to be one of the best! My favorite roll was the OMG Roll. Because OMG -- the truffle is everything! Our waitress was also very kind and gave us great recommendations for it being our first time visiting. I do wish the hostess' were more welcoming, but overall a great spot to check out!

This restaurant came recommend from a friend and it was my first time visiting. As my first impression, I would have given it 5 stars if the service was quicker. As far the ambiance, I would give is a 5. Love the seating arrangement and the interior design. A classic looking sushi restaurant with good food. Just wish the food is served a little quicker. I'll be visiting this place in very near future again to try other rolls and other menu items.

Good sushi spot with a very extensive menu with so many different rolls to choose from. Maybe too many rolls. They are very attentive and do a great job of checking on your table. The fish was fresh but the rice just a little on the hard side. I loved the OMG roll the best. They have cool little booths so even though you are right next to another table you are a bit separated. It's located on Ventura blvd so do yourself a favor and just pay the $8 for valet parking vs looking for a parking spot on the street.

From the moment we walked in, the place was warm, welcoming.The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our visit.Special thanks to Noemi and Ali they are the best waitress/waiter ever.The sushi was truly outstanding incredibly fresh, expertly prepared, and full of flavor. I have grown to appreciate Teru Sushi more over time. Food is consistent. They had a delicious crepe cake at one point as a dessert option while the Warm Brownie a la Mode or Tempura Ice Cream still end well. I have yet to have the Pepper Grilled Toro though. Never seems to be available. Miso Eggplant is very simple but a good vegetarian option. Friendly Servers are usually on the go even when not busy. Most nights seem to have many regulars at this long time establishment. If you don't want the full steak teriyaki bento, the No Rice New York Roll is tasty and filling. Wish I had been here in years before. Love the decor and motif. Patio usually kept warm for chilly nights. Through all the competitors of Sushi Row Ventura Blvd hosts, Teru still stands out. read more

Freshest Sushi in town! I went in for Father's Day dinner. The restaurant was full, but we got lucky with outdoor patio seating. The service was fast. I had been here years ago and appreciated how they kept the outdoor seating charming. The sushi was good, though the Chaos Sushi was too chaotic for me. This is a nice place for American-style sushi rolls and cute crudo dishes. Expect a lot of sauces, and heavy rice throughout. There's also plenty of garnish in the form of scallions, micro greens, and jalapeños. This is not the most traditional Japanese sushi eatery, and that's okay. Teru is a safe choice if you have a last-minute reservation need or for a walk-in. Seating is predominantly indoors and there's a special valet parking area right by the entrance on Ventura Boulevard. When it comes to the carpaccio, some fish slices are thick while others are thinner in nature. I know thin is more traditional, but I imagine many patrons don't mind a thicker piece of fish. As an example, the Yellowtail Jalapeño is presented thick-cut whereas a similar fish the Kanpachi Crudo is served thin-cut. Teru is located by Laurel Tavern and HOPE, both great places to dine. Teru holds its own, but there's a lot of sushi / Japanese competitors in the area: Shiki Sushi, Sugarfish, Ahi Sushi, Iroha, Yen Sushi, Katsuya... in the Studio City to Encino area, the list really goes on and on. I'd compare Teru to Shiki and not the others mentioned above. read more

This place will always have my heart. It's where we had our first date, and where we've celebrated so many anniversaries since. Every visit feels just as special as the first. Our go-to sushi place...Been a landmark in Studio City forever. Garden in back is great as is middle area for seating. Recommend Miso Cod appetizer or if you want entree - called YUN AN YAKI. Love the spicy tuna rice cakes, Crazy shrimp, Baked cut crab roll. Make a reservation-online OpenTable...much easier than waiting. Hostess', Wait-staff, Manager and Owner all have great customer service. Waiter Joshua is also friendly and a stand-out. Place does NOT smell like fish which I like! Only valet parking as it is Studio City. Go and they do have a small happy hour menu I think 5-6 on certain week-days. read more

Had a reservation and was seated almost immediately, which was nice. What wasn't so nice was our seating arrangement right next to the walkway where servers whisked up and down every two seconds, talking loudly to each other--probably would've been less chaotic if they sat us in the kitchen! We ordered two classic rolls and two specialty rolls--after about ten minutes we got one classic and one specialty. Forgot our soy sauce, had to wait another couple minutes to ask for that. The rolls were decent, we finished them quickly--then came the wait for the other two. We waited, and waited, and waited some more. A family who appeared to be friends with an owner or manager was seated near us. We watched them place their order and their food started to be brought almost immediately. It appears one must be good friends with someone involved in the restaurant for decent service!!! After about 25 minutes I suggested my partner dip the paper thin cucumber from his water into his soy sauce to make his own cucumber salad--that was probably the most satisfying bit of the meal..... AND THEN another 10 minutes later (about 35 minutes of wait between rolls total) a waiter hesitantly brought our other two rolls (a simple tuna roll and OMG roll to our table. This is the best part. He didnt immediately set them down but looked at us suspiciously. As he slowly set them down I reached out to move them towards the center of the table. The waiter JERKED them back from me and stuttered "d-did you order....." I kind of just stared in disbelief for a second. Yes, I replied firmly, 45 minutes ago in fact. And he set them down and walked away still looking at us suspiciously. Anyway, food is not worth the hassle unless you happen to be good friends with the owner I guess--unless you enjoy your date night being overshadowed by loud servers and managers and guests being constantly shepherded right past your table. Recommend for those who enjoy taking long breaks between their rolls, so you can get even hungrier than you were before you got there! Best for those who like being questioned on your order and the food almost being taken away from you. Only plus was really the ginger, we probably ate more of that than actual sushi in the time we were waiting:) Go somewhere more worth your while like LA LA Sushi or the likes read more

Been coming here my entire life and tonight was the last time I'll ever walk in those doors and past that koi pond. I LOVE the staff but the woman working at the front was one of the rudest people ever. Truly ruined the night. We always have a great experience at Teru Sushi, starting with the location on Ventura Blvd. in Studio City. Parking is plentiful for Los Angeles with street parking and a lot with great Valet Parking service. The restaurant itself is attractive, stylish, clean and well-maintained. The staff are friendly, greeting you when you come and go, and attending to you promptly. The key element, of course, is the food. The food is fresh, well-prepared and attractively served. They have a wide choice of items featuring sushi, sashimi and specialty rolls that will accommodate anyone's tastes (and they will modify any particular item as desired). They have a wide selections of alcoholic beverages to complement all that as well. read more

Decent spot for the local sushi joint. Back patio is super cute. Loved the bamboo and the koi pond with baby koi. Overall it's decent. Service was good. It's what you would expect for the price point. I wouldn't go for the traditional sushi/sashimi, but it's fine for the rolls. Miso soup was good. Definitely caters to the non-Asian crowd with the spicy tuna rice rolls, da bomb rolls, etc. Miso cod we ordered was off so they took it off our order (without us asking) Service was very good. read more

Meh, was just ok. I live in the area right off "sushi row" and have tried most of the options in the area and was really unimpressed with Teru. 2 of the rolls just completely fell apart without any sauce even being on them, I usually don't have a hard time eating sushi but it just collapsed and was hard to pick up. There's much better options along Ventura Blvd, esp for this price point. read more

Service is great. We were seated promptly and food came out very fast as well. Unfortunately encountered what I think and hope was a bone in the spicy albacore roll. The spicy tuna crispy rice was also slightly burnt. Overall the happy hour is very good value and still tasty so I think 4 stars is reasonable though the bone really tainted the experience. I do enjoy their back patio garden-like ambiance, so I might have to give it another chance, especially at happy hour. read more

My most recent visit to Teru sushi was nothing short of fantastic. Teru is one of the OG spots on Ventura and I have fond memories of coming here as a kid. Firstly, the entrance to the restaurant is serene and beautiful. I love the Koi pond! Really gives you an authentic Japanese vibe. The hostess here has never been that friendly, but since the interactions with her are short it doesn't bother me. I was immediately seated in their back patio and WOW! Honestly a perfect example of how service SHOULD be at a restaurant. It was probably the best experience I've had at a restaurant since getting back to dining during the pandy. We had multiple waitresses check in on us. Drinks and food came out quickly. We didn't wait for a thing. We ordered a spicy yellowtail cut roll, baked crab hand roll, OMG roll and shishito peppers. The fish was excellent and I felt that everything was excellent quality. I'll be thinking of that crab handroll for a while... They do have valet available for $6 since parking on Ventura in that area of Studio City can be a nightmare. I sincerely can't wait to come back to Teru and bring more of my friends. I'm really sad to write this but teru used to be one of my favorite sushi spots-if not my absolute favorite. Today was another evening where we randomly craved their food so decided to go, it's usually amazing. However this time the fish was not fresh at all, it also had a smell to it. On top of that my hand roll smelled so disgusting that when I tried to take a bite I immediately got nauseous and almost stopped eating the entire meal. Edamame had no salt and was almost beige due to it being old maybe? I don't know. On top of that when I kindly let the server know that the hand roll was bad he seemed quite offended which made me feel very uncomfortable about complaining. To make matters worse the table beside me sent back their sushi and I saw the server smelling it as he was walking it back inside which again made me nauseated to see. Currently all of us are sitting with our stomachs feeling very uneasy and it has been hours later. Praying we don't get sick. Again this makes me so sad as this has always been the BEST spot. One of the best sushi's I've had in a long time. We came here spontaneously on a Saturday night and got lucky to be seated right away. Also I do have to mention they have valet and it's only $8, which made getting in easier. We sat down and a very friendly waitress by the name of LiLy (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly) approached us. We ordered some soda waters and Hot Sake to start off the night. She was very quick to bring those out. Then we started to order the main items: garlic edamame, Kanpachi carpaccio, Albacore with Fried Onion, Alice's Tuna Special, crispy rice tune, sexy roll, OMG roll, You Fancy Hu roll, and 3 spicy tuna hand rolls (easy rice). Everything came out as they were prepared which we liked because we ate in batches. I have to say everything was so fresh, so tasty. The albacore was so tender it was like butter. I have been coming here since the 80s when I was a little tiny tot. It has not really changed that much, sushi is just average and nothing exotic. They can't compete with Asanebo across the street so why try! We definitely over ordered! At least I got a free sake with Yelp check in! We had a lot of basic stuff. Nothing to write home about! This is my 2nd time at this place. I forgot how good it was. You can't go wrong with anything you get from the menu. Make sure to sit in the way back by the secret garden, and fountain. Not sure why they…read moreclosed, but I'm guessing a greedy landlord; and the space is still empty at the time of this review. I was craving Chin Chin, so I ordered on Uber Eats. Obviously ordering online is never going to be the same as dining in. The closest location was in Studio City which is about 4+ miles from West Hollywood. I ordered the Fried Rice and paid extra ($5) to add Chicken. I also ordered the Chicken Potstickers (Dumplings) which are my favorite. I reheated my food upon delivery as I knew it wouldn't be warm enough for me upon arrival. The Chicken Fried Rice was a large portion and tasted fresh and delicious. Unfortunately, paying extra for Chicken wasn't worth the price. It was just a few small strips of Chicken in a large serving of rice. See pictures. The Chicken Potstickers were awesome as usual. Five large dumplings packed full of delicious Chicken. The coating was so fresh, and tasted better after reheating. I didn't have their Chinese Chicken Salad this time, but every time I have ordered it in the past, it's always been so freaking good with plenty of fresh Chicken. In past experiences, dining in has always been very friendly and attentive service. Really miss you guys in West Hollywood.

The food is solid (seriously, order the pasta), and getting there isn't a hassle with both valet and street parking options. I do wish they had something going on earlier in the week though, because a Monday night here is underrated and deserves more hype. Drinks are a highlight too. My go-to is the "Divorce Papers"--just trust me on that one. And the service? That's where they really separate themselves. Narek runs the place in a way you don't see often always present, always aware, making sure everything flows smoothly without missing a beat. It creates an experience that feels taken care of without being over the top. Overall, it's a true go-to right now. Great crowd, great music, and an atmosphere that keeps you coming back. Easily one of the best spots on Ventura right now !

I've now been to this restaurant a 4 times and every time have been impressed with the service and the food! (I have requested the same server each time as well!) My most recent visit, I brought a date and she loved absolutely everything about the establishment as well. We started with some edamame which was steamed to perfection! And began our sushi rolls with a delicious little hand roll with baked crab. mmmm MMMM SOOOOO GOOOOD! We moved on to a fantastic creation of a roll called the "ALL IN" roll. And I must say, the sauce they use for this one just brings it together so well, I didn't know sushi could taste so great. Our waitress helped us choose our sake bottles through out the meal to match nicely with everything we were ordering. Very impressed with how knowledgeable she was. And she seemed to have a great relationship with her management and all the chefs, behind the bar and in the kitchen, made me and my date laugh the entire time. The Lobster roll was next and O-my-gawd! Melts in your mouth! We had their spicy tuna rice cakes after that and Im glad they weren't first cause I probably wouldn't have ordered anything else but those tasty cakes! But we had to try their "Happy Ending" handrolls as our server explained it was supposed to be a dessert roll. I almost wanted to order another instead of the Tempura Ice Cream my date wanted so badly. While my date and I were arguing over green tea or vanilla, Trisha our server walks up and says "how bout the best of both worlds, Ill make it a half n half" Thank you TERU SUSHI for being so accommodating! That made the meal for both my date and I! Prices can get up there, but if youre looking for quality food and service, this is a guaranteed satisfied tummy. Just had my worst meal ever at Teru Sushi. What's even worse is that the service was worse than the food. I haven't been there for a while, because I've been going to a place closer to my house which I recently discovered. I used to go to Teru Sushi, because Richard is so awesome. Seems that's changed also. Where his service used to be excellent; he now didn't even seem to notice that our plates were empty, nor that we were constantly looking at him waiting for more service. I wanted to ask for water mid-way through my meal, but no one seemed to notice that I was constantly looking for service. We had to ask Richard if he could get us some water, and even after Richard called out for someone to get us some water, no listened to him either. Finally after what seemed like forever, when our meal was basically over, Richard had a busboy bring us some water. Too late. The sushi tasted as though it had been cut days earlier and stored in a refrigerator, if not frozen. The Orange that was served to close our meal, looked as though it had been pre-cut in the middle of the afternoon and was dry. Fortunately, or unfortunately, the only good service one gets here now is from Woody the Valet. I'm going to miss him. The only good part to this evening was that I know where I'll be going from no on, and it won't be Teru Sushi. Teru Sushi was crowded and hopefully and thankfully, I don't expect to see all these trendy, shallow, materialistic, stuffy people at my new favorite place, which is not only still a secret, but the portions of sushi are twice as big, and the service is way better. I won't be back. I'll be at Chiba Sushi in North Hollywood, where the service is excellent and the food is unbelievable. It was nice knowing you Teru Sushi. On to better food and service. read more

5 stars all the way! for the food and for our server Trish! Since my first time there she is who I always request because she's always on top of it and helpful with orders, food or sake. Best service hands down, no question about it! The atmosphere is always fun and lively and the decor is soothing and almost old school. Ive now eaten here a few times, a couple with friends and the most recent with a date. And every time Trish and Teru have been more than accommodating. The rolls all have fun names and if you need any help on ordering, the waitress knows whats up. She knew the menu inside and out and made us try her fave roll, the "geisha lips" (LOL!!) which was shrimp and spicy tuna inside wrapped with albacore sashimi in this kinda spicy-garlic-ie sauce. melts in your mouth. Then the OMG which is a fun combination of spicy tuna with some crisp onions mixed in it on the inside then their delicious, melts in your mouth, hamachi on top with little bits of cilantro to give it that perfect bite. SOOOO DARN GOOD! Even the kitchen food was bombie! We got a beef robata and their dumplings as an appetizer and they were both cooked to perfection. If anyone likes bananas(even if you dont) you GOTTA try the fried banana and ice cream cause I had no idea I even liked bananas til I tried that crazy dessert. Another cool perk was watching the Sushimen greet everyone who came through the front door..especially when it was a female..haha The bill wasnt too bad either! 100 bux will buy an awesome date here easily. I can't believe it's been over 10 years since we first stumbled upon this sushi restaurant in the neighborhood. And yet, every time I walk through its doors, I'm still met with the same warm welcome and incredible sushi that keeps us coming back. Teru is an oldie but goodie! What sets this place apart from all the other sushi spots in the area is not just the delicious food, but the incredible family who runs it. The owner and his family are some of the most delightful people. They always make sure to greet every customer with a smile and a kind word, and they go above and beyond to make everyone feel at home. But let's talk about the food. The sushi here is simply amazing. The fish is always fresh, and each piece is expertly crafted. And if you're in the mood for something a little more adventurous, they have plenty of unique rolls and dishes to choose from. Another thing I love about this place is the atmosphere. It's cozy and intimate, with just the right amount of Japanese decor to transport you to a different world. And even though it can get busy on weekends, it never feels overcrowded or rushed. Overall, I can't recommend this sushi restaurant enough. Like I said, and oldie but a goodie! And who knows - maybe you'll become a regular like us, and get to know the amazing family who runs it. read more

Interestingly enough, what prompted me to go to Teru was that they started following me on Instagram, meaning their social media management skills are strong, because they'd have an algorithm set that looks for people who post pics from restaurants in the valley. I made a reservation, which was recommended. When we arrived the place was packed. There was a line out the door I thought, "No problem. I'm smart. I made a reservation." I checked in and was told by an extremely unfriendly young woman to have a seat and they'd let me know when our table was ready. There was definitely no place to have a seat. So, we stood for twenty minutes and watched people come in after we did get seated. I was definitely grumpy. However, once seated the service was impeccable. I got my check-in offer delivered immediately. We ordered a pitcher of beer, some delightful rolls, and a pepper stuffed with spicy tuna. So. So. Good. This restaurant also offers Yelp cash back, so that was a delightful bonus. A friend of mine said that her family eats here at least once a week. I remarked about the initial unfriendly service and she said that she's never seen that young woman crack a smile. So, glad to know it's not just me. I'd certainly return, but might have a snack first so I can feel less hangry while I wait. read more

They have a great happy hour..sushi chefs are actually NICE. Isn't that shocking!! Idk when it became the norm for us to think being treated rude comes with the territory if you sit at the sushi bar. Tina greets you when you walk in and never forgets my name. She's always such a joy and makes me & my guest feel so welcome since I usually bring in large parties. She is that good hospitality that makes u want to come back! Louise was my sushi chef and he was very sweet accommodating my request and making smaller portions for me so I could literally try a little bit of everything. The albacore, garlic, crispy onion is amazing. It's fresh and they almost make it like a salad...offering many different veggies so you can create a different options for every bite. The yellowtail jalapeño was on point as well. The ponzu they use has the perfect flavor. I try not to get stuck on rolls, the rice can be filling but their rolls...get, OMG!! We had reservations for a party of either at 8:30pm on a saturday night. Reservations that I personally made for my sisters birthday a week prior. We get there at 8:20 and the hostess (dumb blode that she was) tells us that the big table in the back that is used to accomodate large parties is still busy. We said ok fine, that's understandable. It was a saturday night after all. 8:45 rolls around and my stomach starts to grumble. When my stomach starts to grumble I get pissy and antsy. I go up the hostess again and ask about the status. She tell me they'll be done in 10 minutes. 9 rolls around and I start getting ultra pissy. I cus out the hostess. 9:20 rolls around and i've had just enough. I gather everyone up and we leave to Crust, a pizza establishment next door. This review is not speaking to the quality of the fish here, it is just to warn those who have large party reservations. I recently held my best friend's bridal shower here in the private party room and I have to say, this was a great decision. The room was clean, spacious, and set up exactly as I had requested and envisioned. The staff, from the owner, to the host/hostesses, to the wait staff were ALL incredibly helpful and friendly. The wait staff was always ready to help with whatever requests we had. From inquiring about certain foods, to providing more plates/utensils, I felt completely comfortable in their care. The food was superb and affordable. Our guests all raved about the quantity as well as the quality. In particular the spicy tuna rolls were phenomenal! My best friend and all her guests gave thumbs up to the bridal party for picking this location. Highly recommend! read more

If you are looking for cheap Sushi, Teru is not your spot. Ambiance: The ambiance is really nice. They have a really nice patio in the back and a handful of tables outside on the Ventura side. Valet parking is $3.5 Staff: Sushi chefs are really fun-loud and add to the ambiance. The servers and hostesses can do MUCH better and that's why I am deducting one star. Not really friendly and always look very stressed. Food: The Food is AWESOME. A little expensive but the serving size and rolls are much larger than other sushi places. My Favorites are he "OMG and "slow my role" rolls. Most important, the fish is always fresh and tasty here and they are always busy. You don't have to worry about the freshness of the fish. read more

I had a great experience at Sushi Place, and I want to specifically recognize one of the best workers there -- Ali. From the moment I walked in, Ali was professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, from the service to the overall experience. I am from a small town in Texas where i own my own restaurant .. when i went to cali to visit some family ..i had never tried sushi before and i always wanted a taste.. my Uncle took me to Teru sushi where he told me if ur gonna try sushi for the first time u gotta try it here at teru sushi... i dont know about fish too much but i can tell u this it was soo delicious the Teru roll oh my goodies !! comming from texas i wanted to try the Steak teriyaki which just blew me out of my mind ...Teru sushi will always be a special place in my heart ...i cant stop blabbing to all my friends here in texas ...which im sure if they ever visit cali they will for sure visit teru sushi!! read more

Absolutely DISGUSTING. Used to be my go-to place until we found TWO hairs in two separate spicy tuna rice cake rolls yesterday. The hair was inside of the fish of two different rice cakes, which my boyfriend and I both almost consumed. The hair was long and black, clearly one of the chef's hairs . That was the most disgusting food I have almost ate. The bald manager showed no remorse and said "Haha I hate when that happens." Like WHAT??? How many times does this happen each day...? DO NOT GO HERE PLEASE. Go anywhere else for sushi the quality of the sushi here is at the bottom of the list. Would give this place negative stars if I could. read more

Good sushi and good service. Only reason for the 3 star rating is the complete absurdity of being charged $9.75 for a bottle of water. NINE SEVENTY FIVE for a bottle of water. And it was Evian, not even a super premium brand. This is called gouging. I've been to michelin star restaurants in NYC and Beverly Hills that don't charge $9.75, which by the way was more expensive than one of my food orders itself. Any place that charges more for water than yellowtail or albacore needs to take a hard look at their pricing structure. I'll be going again when convenient but will stick to sake or beer (both of which are less than water!). read more

Prepare for a tale of culinary misery at Teru Sushi. As I endured the agony of waiting for what felt like eons for my final rolls amidst a packed restaurant, the sushi itself was disappointingly subpar. But the real horror unfolded when I witnessed the appalling behavior of a bald Persian-looking staff member towards an older Asian worker, reminiscent of a high school bully. Adding insult to injury, gossiping ensued amongst the staff like a scene from a teenage drama. Dear Teru Sushi, in the realm of hospitality, kindness costs nothing. I love the patio and the sushi bar. Very romantic great for dates and parties. The sushi is out of this WORLD!! the fish is fresh and melts in your mouth!!!! Large portions not like those other crappy sushi places with mini portions, Trust me you get your money's worth here!! My favorite roll is the Sexy Roll and the oysters also try the albacore with crispy onions, If you like fried fish try Baby Sole Mmm.. so good! We were having a great time on our double date at this sushi restaurant--the food was great, and the service was on point. But things took a turn around 9:30. Suddenly, the back area where we were sitting by the coy pond turned into a VIP section, and the staff's attention shifted entirely to one group. We were left waiting for 30 minutes just to place another order. It felt pretty unprofessional, especially when they started playing their own music over the speakers, which totally changed the vibe of the place. This place is pricey but if you're in for a nice sushi dinner than it's a great spot to visit. They have a very authentic feel and their sushi chefs craft some awesome rolls. A few of my personal favorites were: Happy ending, Oh NO!, Oh Snapp!!, Chaos and B.S.C. As you can tell they have some creative names and all of them are pretty big and very good. Most range in the teens as far as cost go and they're all reasonably sized so you're getting your money's worth. Fresh sushi, creative rolls and a great atmosphere. Worth every penny. read more
