This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The service is incredible as all the employees are beyond nice and treat you like you are at home. But the food is the best! Their carbonara is one outrageously good, which isn't often on their menu. I don't know what to choose as my favorite item, either the hummus and pita or the skirt steak. Everything here is top notch. The ambiance is quiet but busy. The bartender is amazing and very exact about his job. The chef hovers outside the kitchen making sure everything is perfect. He even asked me about butter on my rice since I asked for no cheese with everything. Very worried about quality and customer service. Love it! Wait staff is friendly and efficient. Not a bad word to say about anything and I've been there three or more times. The food is definitely six stars. read more

So happy to have finally had the opportunity to visit this neighborhood gem...growing up just around the corner, having an offspring living super close by...it's been in my to visit list. Terzo has a welcoming warm atmosphere which draws you in. A bar counter filled with happy laughing patrons....a great sign. We had a reservation for a family birthday celebration made weeks in advance. Restaurant was busy so we had to wait 15 minutes for a table to clear. My only issue was we were placed at the communal table (5 people) rather than a table. Having advance reservations and it being a birthday celebration I felt this was a miss-step. We ordered a large variety of small plates...each one tastier than the next. Top flavors the calamari, a winner, the mozzarella di bufala, the short rib, the gnocchi and meatballs. We had the flat iron steak and Moroccan chicken both super. All were highly pleased with our food choices. Restaurant is definitely a winner winner. Apple crisp for dessert....yum!! read more

I really like Terzo, it's one of my go-to spots in the Marina these days. My favorite dish is their hummus plate, but most every small plate I've tried has been a winner. Last night the salmon was particularly outstanding. Also the flourless chocolate cake and fresh mint tea ended our meal on a high note. Service is always great and I've had excellent luck with their wine selection. It's a place I'm sure I'll be coming back to for years and years. read more

I went to dinner here last night and was not disappointed! The ambiance of this place is exactly what I love, intimate but yet casual. The place was packed on a Thursday night with no tables open. I loved, loved the atmosphere. As for the food, everything we ordered was amazing. The two dishes that really stuck out to me was the Lamb Keftas. I probably could have ordered 5 more plates of this. It comes with a dipping sauce that's absolutely amazing. It tastes like a mix of hummus and Indian green chutney. The other dish that blew me away was the skirt steak. I was actually going to order the salmon and then our waitress suggested the steak would probably be a better option when I asked her which one she would prefer. It definitely did not disappoint. The chimchurri sauce that comes with the sauce is phenomenal! Overall, I'll definitely be coming back! read more

The beauty of a neighborhood restaurant is it's ability to let you forget that you ever left the comforts of your own home. Terzo, tucked in a wonderful spot on Union and Steiner, is an inviting dinner party with a knockout menu, and captures the essence of a napa sunset with its soothing tones and clean decor. Friday night, my friends and I rested on the communal table and began the drive through Mark Gordon's intricate yet simple menu of delectable plates. Beginning with the hummus and home made pita, you felt as if you were on your first trip back from college. Delighted to be back home, and to be served the warmness only a mother could bestow upon you. A treat, that was immediately ordered again before it was even finished. The spicy coriander sausage was one of a kind, my only complaint was that there was only 1. The warm goat cheese on the sliced sour dough baguettes were desperate for attention and I found myself without guilt giving it the attention it deserved. ( what can I say, cheese has a soft spot in the heart of the Palindrome ) The skirt steak was the highlight of the drive, and left you blind to the others in the room. The warm potatoes played perfectly with the salty after taste of the medium rare steak, and the seasoned baby lettuce left your mind in a soothing slumber. Finished the meal with the watermelon and feta tasting, which was a perfect injection of sweets with a tempered release of bite. Terzo is a home, not a restaurant. When you enter and when you leave, you were simply part of a magnificent dinner party that you know you'll be back too. read more

I love this place. The food is really good (a little spendy, but really good), the staff is friendly, and environment stylish. Nicole, the regular bartender is super-friendly and definitely makes dining at the bar an enjoyable experience every time. I do miss Alison and the the rest of the old staff, though. They really made you feel welcome. They new "manager" is not terribly friendly, but she's very young, so I assume she'll figure it out eventually. And as long as the food stays good and Nicole is behind the bar, I'll keep coming in. 5/29/08 update: Nicole is no longer there and I really can't see a reason to eat there any more. I was flipping through this month's Best of the Bay issue of SF Magazine and a feature on Terzo caught my eye. "A sleek venue where small plates offer great rewards" it said. Sounded fab, so I told fellow Yelper Yan M. about it and she checked Opentable.com for reservations and luckily there was 1 time slot that we could make. We were amazed that they were nearly booked on a Tuesday night. Once inside the restaurant we realized why - there are only about 10 tables, otherwise you can walk in and sit at the bar or their communal table which sits about 8 people. So it's a good idea to make reservations! I was there with my lovely friends Yan and Helen Y. and being the Yelpers that we are, we paid attention to everything. Though we had reservations, we didn't get seated until about 30 minutes later. The hostess constantly apologized, and I think that because we were catching up and checking out all the dishes that were going by us, the time seemed to pass faster. It actually was helpful, because we would see dishes that we thought looked good, then we'd ask the server what it was and got their opinion about it. The menu only consists of 16 small plates, and our server recommended that we order at least 6 to share between the 3 of us. She gave us great suggestions and everything we got was delicious. I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong with any 16 of their dishes. My favorites were the hummus, chicken spiedini, and pancetta wrapped figs. We also got 2 desserts - warm berry crumble with ice cream and strawberries and ice cream on pavlova, this crisp and fluffy meringue dessert. Both perfect choices to end our wonderful meal with. Wow, what a surprise, and yet not a surprise given the pedigree of Laurie Thomas and Nice Ventures of Rose Pistola and Rose's Cafe fame. I will say that I think that small plates are overdone and used to generate higher profits at the expense of empty stomachs. And many tapas places, with the recommended 2 - 3 plate/customer at $10-$15/plate, have done well by that model. I for one have gone home hungry too many times to have been taken again. However, Terzo breaks the mold and represents how it can work. The formula starts with a chef like Mark Gordon who has obviously made a deal with the devil because his pan-Mediterranean cuisine is unbelievably good. Another nice addition is the impeccable choice of local, seasonal ingredients and a menu that changes often. We had a small late dinner starting with the Steamed Mussels with oloroso sherry, bay leaf and grilled toasts. The broth from this will have you asking for a straw or more bread. Side by side we had the perfectly Roasted Beets with yogurt, garlic and dill. If you like beets, these are deliciously flavorful and perfectly cooked. Next up was the Chicken Spiedini (a kabab) with bread, chile and onions. Succulent, flavorful, these chicks were raised right and tasted so. Along with our meal we ended up going through three glasses of the 2003 Quinta de Cabriz Reserva from Portugal which was a great match for the food. Not overpowering and yet enough body and spice to stand up to the rich and flavorful food. We finished with milk and cookies and a cappuccino. I'd actually give this place 3.5 stars if I could. We came on a bad night - the bartender told my friend that they were short two wait staff. So we were seated at 9, despite our 8:30 reservation. The place is CROWDED! We awaited our table with a glass of sancerre as we attempted to stay out of the way by standing toward the front, right by the window. A really nice couple next to us offered us a seat, but we declined. So we were finally seated and got a bottle of savignon blanc (the birthday girl wanted white). Our waitress was very apologetic - and nice and competent. The hummus, prosciutto wrapped figs, and beef were delicious. I thought the halibut was just so-so, though my dining companions loved it. My favorite was the sausage - nice and spicy. After dinner we had a glass of rose as we decided what to have for dessert. We decided to split the Midnight Cake and it was fantastic. And I got a glass of Cockburn 20 year old Tawny Port, which was also fantastic (and fun to say!) The wait staff was exceptionally nice. My friend informed the busboy that somebody had thrown up in the sink in the women's room (come on, what the fuck is wrong with you that you throw up in the SINK??). He came back up to thank her for letting him know and started joking around with us after I told him that she was actually the sink puker (she wasn't). And our waitress encouraged my 12 year old boy behavior as I repeated my order for the Cockburn over and over again! read more

At last! Small plates done right! Beretta should take a note. Perfect portions (in other words, they don't take the word "small" to the extreme), great selection, reasonable prices, and everything tastes great. Of course some plates were the clear winners - the pork belly and the black trumpet mushrooms. Oh, and don't think you can only order onion rings with burgers. You know how when you bite into fried onion, it always comes out of the batter and burns your mouth? These don't do that! Don't skip over them. The waitress cracked me up. She was really great, but she kept trying to add this awkward sophisticated tone to everything by saying "beautiful" after everything we said to her. "Are you ready to order?" "No, I think we're still working on it." "beautiful, beautiful. Take your time." 5 min later... "I think we're going to order 4 plates now, and go for another round after we're done." "Beautiful." The more wine I drank, the funnier that became. My dinner was so good (probably enhanced by the people I was there with), that I almost gave it 5 stars...one of those meals that for the next 2 hours the only thing I said was "Wow, that was good! We had so much fun!" But, to be honest I could probably make most of those plates at home, so I can't go all the way. But I would definitely go out of my way to go back for a lively dinner with friends or family. read more

On the recommendation of a cousin from the Midwest (no, she's not the farmer's daughter - Beach Boys), our family dined here tonight. Nestled in this quiet block in Cow Hollow (saw the Hollow Cow down the block), this seemed like unfamiliar ground for me; heck, I couldn't even remember whether Steiner was east or west of Fillmore Street. Reading some of the promotions and postings, this is obviously a good spot for wine connoisseurs, given the large list and their reasonable pricing specials (half off on selected wines). My cousin used to work in a nearby office, so she was familiar. The menu is not huge, but has a good variety of small plates and about five large plate selections. We strategized the following menu of shared appetizers for a party of eight (2 each except for the cured meats, 1): 1) Hummus (signature dish) - I'm not big on this, but everyone seemed to enjoy it. - $8.00 2) Bruschetta - My personal favorite. How can you hate on crispy toast covered with tomatoes and a sunny-side egg? Love my runny eggs. - $9.00 3) Cured Meats - Mixture of three or four different meats. Was afraid to eat beyond my share (eight in our party). - $9.00 4) Panzarotto - Their version of calzone, filled with gooey cheese and topped with their tangy tomato sauce. - $9.50 5) Meatballs - Two raquetball-sized pork meatballs in a tangy, cheesy tomato sauce on a bed of polenta. My #2 choice of appetizers. - $13.00 Large Plates I ordered the Grilled Skirt Steak, done medium rare (perfectly done). It came with baby carrots and braised potatoes, which were melt-in-mouth good. There was some small glob of buttery substance that melted on the steak; it made the dish a little too rich for my taste. - $26.00 My parents and cousin gave me portions of their Braised Chicken, served on a bed of tasty rice - $22.00, and Wild Salmon (from Washington state, as emphasized by our waiter), which came on a bed of garbanzo beans - $27.00. The salmon was okay, but the chicken was probably the star large plate. They basically give you the drumstick and thigh as the waiter aptly warned that it is dark meat. The braising (slow cooked) process kept the meat both tender and moist with the chicken flavor infusing into the rice. The pork chop, ordered by a friend, looked very good, but I didn't try it - $24.00. Sides Crispy Onions - We ordered two servings of this for the eight of us to share, which was more than enough. Think temperature hot, crunchy onions strings in a large crock-sized bowl. Great with the steak. - $3.00 Desserts Nectarine Tart - I ordered this to share with my parents as the above was enough for a more-than-satisfying meal. Small slices of white nectarines in a light sauce top a flaky,buttery crust; the tart is topped with one small scoop of vanilla ice cream. Love our seasonal fruits and vegetables here. - $8.00 The waiter was pretty efficient to start (stating that many if not all ingredients are organic from Napa and Sonoma counties), but, as the meal progressed, there were some "errors" to our meal: a) ordered grilled asparagus - was not placed, b) friend ordered pork chop, but originally served spaghetti (which looked delish, BTW) - ten minute wait afterwards. But, since the food was very good, they became afterthoughts. Prior to leaving, they comped an extra order of the nectarine tart to our table, which was a nice gesture. The servers were very efficient in keeping water glasses filled and removing empty plates, often a daunting task with big parties. I was ready to give a 3.5 star for the entire experience (minus 0.5 for the errors), but then I heard my cell phone voice mail. Someone from the restaurant apologized for an error and informed me that they credited my credit charge for about $20.00 to correct this. Since they a) noticed the error and b) erased the error, it is only appropriate to refund them the 0.5 star. Nice... read more

Tried Terzo for the first time the other night and it was "meh." First off, my boss and I show up at 5:18 and apparently they open at 5:30. The manager/server/whomever he was wouldn't let us inside. I mean, we would've just sat and drank wine and waited until the kitchen was ready. So I said "you want us to wait 10 minutes?" in which he snapped back "13 minutes!" I rolled my eyes and we left. We were turned off by the experience and walked around the block. We only came back because my boss was REALLY wanting some red wine. Once inside, the hostess said we can eat and drink, but we must leave by 7:15. At this point, I'm completely over the people and am hoping the food will at least save them and this review. For the wine, I had the Banshee Pinot Noir. It was fine. My boss...I think she ordered the Zin-Phomaniac Zinfandel Old Vines. If that's the one, then it was really good and definitely recommend it. For food, we ordered 4 appetizers and 1 dessert. We ordered: Wild Nettles-Ricotta Ravioli, Grilled Monterey Bay Calamari, Tomato Braised Pork Meatballs, and Grilled Halloumi Cheese. The funny thing here is that I thought the Grilled Halloumi Cheese was going to be gross, but it turned out to be my favorite! It was perfectly seasoned and I totally recommend it. As for the other dishes...pffft! (rolls eyes) They weren't bad per se, but they weren't great = None of them had any flavor whatsoever! For dessert, we had the Flourless Chocolate Cake with Cocoa Nib Toffee Whipped Cream. That was a good time and I'd recommend that as well. The presentation of the food was nice and pretty. Our server was nice and attentive and recommended the wine. I guess since the restaurant is located in Cow Hollow/Pacific Heights area with all this old money around here, all the old people love the food. It seems old people are like kids in that they like bland food. The place, the staff attitudes, the food, the prices, it's all very pretentious. They think they're rockstars or royalty when really it's all very basic and underwhelming. Unless my boss wants to go back and drink AND pick up the bill, i won't return or recommend the the place. read more

Terzo deserves way more than terzo stars! Yes, it's that good. All the tapas we ordered were tasty. I highly recommend the hummus. It's made from scratch and served with delicious warm pita bread. My other favorites are the grilled halibut with pesto sauce over garbanzo bean and the pancetta wrapped figs. The home made noodles with truffles was also good but best ordered with other dishes since it might be too light in flavor otherwise. We ended our evening with two, yes two, desserts: the warm crumble with strawberries and vanilla ice cream and another one with strawberries (i can't remember the name but one of the waiter's insisted that it was "so good" and most of the other tables ordered it too). I still preferred the crumble. Oh and I dined with fellow yelpers Connie C and Yan M so that always makes a meal more pleasant :) read more

I had a fantastic meal last night at Terzo...from the moment we walked in the door everything was spot on-the space is really comfortable and our server was right there with suggestions when needed. Standouts were the hummus with some of the best homemade pita bread I've ever had, fava beans with marinated feta and flatbread and ravioli with peas. The only miss of the night were the onion rings...they were actually pretty tasty but they definitely didn't go with the rest of the menu. And leave room for dessert-the almond cake with strawberries, balsamic and creme was to die for! Grand total for 6 small plates plus dessert and 4 glasses of wine was under $100. I'd highly recommend Terzo for a date spot although get there soon...our waiter mentioned that there's going to be a good write up in the Chronicle this weekend. How can I describe this place while giving it the credit it deserves... When visiting a classy, professionally maintained, no-nonsense, and well established restaurant, I expect a friendly greater (check), prompt seating if reservation (check), if early for res. bar waiting area (check), purse hooks under the bar (check). Possibly a warm fire (check) Large fresh flower arrangement in the center of the room (check) And flowing champagne (check) My expectations were exceeded by the phenomenal service and warm ambiance. The food was delicious and Tapas style can be utterly satisfying when you order the desired amount. I would recommend going in with a small group or a couple, the restaurant is very intimate, warm, and cozy. Not too loud, but the right place to start off for a great night. read more

We came upon Terzo after a friend highly recommended the renovated spot. I was hesitant because frankly, I am over the small plate scheme. Too little food for too high of a price. However, our friends raved about the quality of the food, and so we went. We have now been to Terzo several times and it really has become one of our favorite spots in the neighborhood for a lite dinner. The staff is extremely friendly, the wine offerings are great, and the food is absolutely delicious. The only reason I withhold the fifth star is because the menu doesn't offer enough "hearty" dishes to sustain a return customer. I usually like to select two meat/fish dishes, as well as a couple of vegetable sides and one of the salads. Terzo has plenty of vegetable varieties to choose from (all of which are extremely fresh and PERFECTLY prepared), but there is only about 4 items to choose from for the more "heartier" fare, and I would like to see about 4 more to choose from. It's just a bit too limited. Other than that, I give Terzo 2 thumbs up and a genuine recommendation. UPDATE (06/08/08): Terzo is my favorite restaurant in the Cow Hollow area. Hands down it is delicious and the service is fantastic. We are regulars here and I love their changing seasonal menu. The food seems to have just gotten better and really deserves 5 stars read more

I wasn't too blown away by this place. Came here for a reservation at 8:30, still waited 15 minutes or so to be seated. Our server was nice, Nicole? I think her name was. I didn't like how dark the restaurant was, and the music was way too loud. I couldn't hear half of what my date was saying, let alone what the server was saying. The food was very hit or miss! I enjoyed both of the entrees we ordered! The skirt steak was nice, rare, and perfect in my opinion. I wasn't a fan of the potato casserole-like thing that came with it. The king salmon was delicious as well, very simply grilled. Neither of the desserts blew me away. The apples in the apple crisp needed to be softer and more cooked, although the crunchy topping was good. The tapioca was too bland, it needed more flavor. The sautéed wild mushrooms we had as an appetizer didn't have enough mushrooms and the cheese overpowered what little mushroom there was. The other appetizer we got was good! It was a blend of three cheeses with honey and bread on the side. The cheese was nice and creamy and just slightly sweet! I wouldn't rush back to this place. HOW DID IT TAKE ME SO LONG TO FIND YOU, TERZO?! We live 2 blocks away from this little gem. I have no idea how this went under my radar for the last 8 years in SF. I had always heard about their discount wine during certain days (can't remember which days now), but never heard about how great their food is. Since coming for the first time a month ago, I have been here already two additional times. Hummus - delish. Terzo marries fresh, Mediterranean cuisine with a relaxed, low-lit ambiance that's ideal for a date night or a night out with the girls. Go with someone who likes to share since there are so many delicious plates on the menu! We ordered: - Hummus with House Made Pita & Za'atar: I'd return just for this dish! - Roasted Beets: really tender and nestled on top of labneh (Greek yogurt-ish). The labneh helps to balance the strong flavor of the beets. - Roasted Steelhead with Farro and English peas: I rarely order farro, but it was a fun mix with the (abnormally large) peas. - Moroccan Chicken with Basmati: not as spicy as I was expecting, but quite well prepared. read more

My friend and I went in around 5:30pm tonight for a light bite and a drink at this restaurant. While I will give our server Michael credit for his cheery disposition, he was absolutely clueless. The place was empty. We had to cajole Michael back to our table to take our order. He seemed more interested in sitting behind the bar talking to a co-worker about this and that vs. serving his customers. The real clincher came when my friend told Michael she thought the lentil soup was bland. He immediately replied, "Oh, don't tell that to chef." Yikes! Seriously? Please DO tell that to chef. Someone needs to teach Michael restaurant 101. Customers drive business not chef idiosyncracies. Michael then was an idiot enough to press the matter and insinuate that because we liked meat, perhaps the lentil soup was a bit to light on taste. I won't return to this restaurant again. read more

A solid 3 stars. The first thing that ruined this place for me was our server - he seemed annoyed with us for some reason and/or he really hated his job. This definitely started dinner on a sour note... As far as other aspects of the restaurant, the ambience is pretty cool, and the food is decent. For dinner, we tried: - hummus - arugula salad - grilled calamari - roasted mahi mahi with garbanzo beans The hummus and grilled calamari were decent, the mahi mahi was okay, and the arugula salad was definitely the weakest dish of the evening. In summary, I wasn't very impressed with the food, and our server's attitude contributed to my overall dissatisfaction with the restaurant. In my opinion, if a restaurant has really bad service, the food has to be quite amazing for me to keep coming back. I may consider giving Terzo another try, but I'm definitely in no rush to do so. read more

Went here last night with two friends, and had to say I was very pleased with the meal from start to finish. When they tell you that you should get 2-3 plats per person, that really is just about perfect. Between the three of us, we got 7 plates, and it was really just the perfect amount of food. We ordered: pacetta wrapped figs, roasted beets, heirloom tomato bruschetta, roasted chanterelle mushrooms, chicken spiedini, sausage, and the roasted beef. Everything was really really good, with the sausage, figs and bruschetta being the standouts. The wine list is great because it is loaded with non-Californian wines, and most of them are moderately prices (under $60). The wait staff did a great job. They were great about bringing the food out in groups of 2-3, so at no point were we sitting there with an empty table, but we also didn't have to deal with 7 plates on the table all at once. All around, very satisfying meal -- I'll definitely be coming back! read more

Terzo was absolutely great. Favorites were the grilled calamari, the sautéed wild mushrooms, and the pita + hummus! The flavour of the squid was so amazing, with just the right amount of aioli and salt to really draw out the sea. Garbanzo beans and veggies under the squid were also delicious, having absorbed all that seafood goodness. And yeah.. everyone raves about the pita and hummus, the pita is REALLY good and the hummus is sooooo creamy. We also ordered the pork loin, lamb keftas, and arugula salad. Service was a little choppy and I felt forgotten a few times, which might have to do with sitting at the bar. Dessert: apple crisp with ice cream is a nice way to end the meal ;) read more

Not knowing anything of the place, but putting my trust in my good friend and food connoisseur Ray, I agreed to dinner at Terzo. (Plus, Ray was buying, so at the very least I knew I'd get some decent wine out of it). Turns out it's this trendy Mediterranean joint where the small plates are delicious and plentiful, the wine flows like beer, and beautiful women instinctively flock like the Cougars to the Triangle. I'm an opportunistic wino, so for me the decor is comforting (you feel like you're in a wine cellar). And the food is fantastic, albeit slightly confusing at times (why is there a fried egg on my bruschetta? I have no idea, but it is tasty!). I recommend the aforementioned bruschetta-o-befuddlement, and their hummus which is splendid and served with home-made pita bread. Fellas, its a great place to take a strumpet. And ladies, your date will appreciate the fact that instead of hitting on you, the waiter will treat you like his sister (one who he beats up. Seriously, my waiter was super nice, but I'm unclear why he felt it necessary to forcefully pat me on the back everytime he walked by...) read more

Pork meatballs. Yum. And half priced wine on special nights - what more can you want? The bruschetta was a bit odd, with fried egg on top, but still delicious even for a non egg person like myself. The service was exceptional - seriously some of the best service I have had dining in San Francisco. The mozzarella on the salad was so creamy and melted in my mouth - I definitely recommend it. We tried 2 different wines - both were very good. I find it rare to really enjoy the wine I order at restaurants but it is clear that this place has put a lot of effort into their wine list. we had to order 4 small plates or 2 entrees to get the special 1/2 off wine price. The atmosphere is great too - good lighting, not too loud and small plates for sharing. I can't wait to go back! read more

***SF Health Tax Alert!!*** Yes, as I scrolled down my bill I saw the dreadful, SF HEALTH TAX charge. Totally fine, I'm all for health care for employees but didn't think my first time being hit with it would be at this fine restaurant. Made my night end in a flurry of emotions. The tapas here are very good. The watermelon salad is a MUST. It could have been very bad, but it was definately a hit! The watermelon was so flavorful. The fact that there was no leafie greens made it all the better. The linguinie was amazing, and with the truffle was probably just as good without it (Truffles are supposed to be an aphrodisiac. I so did not get laid after paying the bill). The king salmon was so-so. The skin on the bottom was burnt leaving an odd taste in my mouth. The midnight cake and coconut ice cream should have been the peak of the night. The champagne was probably the best thing I had that night. 4 dishes, 1 dessert, 2 glasses of wine, and a glass of champagne, SF health tax charge= $150. Not bad, and not perfect either. read more

We had a lovely time and a delicious meal at Terzo! The menu is diverse and vegetarian friendly which surprised and delighted me. The gnocchi plate blew my mind! I came here with three friends on a Saturday night. To my surprise it was full of old folks. It didn't knock my socks off, but really enjoyed the chill vibe. The three best plates are the hummus, braised mary's chicken with Moroccan sprices, onions, yogurt & basmati rice, and the spaghetti with rapini, onion, roasted garlic, ricotta & lemon. For dessert, definitely go for the flourless cake with espresso. Our dining experience was great. We drank a little too much wine and oh man. My phone fell in the chicken, so gross. I was a bit upset, the chicken was amazing, but no one wants to eat chicken that tastes like an iPhone. We were talking really loud and having a good time, but we did get a lot of stares from the old people around us. There was James Brown music blasting in the bathroom and by the bar, but where we sat, it was more chill. I only gave this place 3 stars for value. It's technically 4 for meals, location and atmosphere. But the tapas plates are SMALL. Don't go thinking you will get a deal. They tell you to order 2-4 plates per person and we were still hungry. Who makes a pasta dish with 3 tortellini? I was with 4 people ( 2 guys and 2 women and we had to split up everything. And the Fava beans, goat cheese dish was excellent, but $7 for 3 slices of toast. Please. The gnocci was excellent as well as the artichoke ravioli's. The waitstaff was nice, not amazing, and they forgot our mussels. My roommate went and said they had a great Pinot Noir. Go when you are not hungry! Location is perfect! read more

Love Terzo. Small plates are good for dates, and though the menu changes, I've never sampled something I didn't enjoy. I'm particularly in love with the sea bass and the mussels, and the beet salad. Mmm. More importantly (for me anyway) the people at Terzo are attentive and warm. Like Cheers, with less sarcasm. read more

So, I went here the other night, without a reservation, but I still really enjoyed the food. Once we got a seat, after standing around the very crowded bar, our server was very prompt and offered all kinds of suggestion's. We sat at the big family dinning table and that was a bit awkward, as all the other people who did not have a reservation are standing there wondering when you are going to leave? I did not really mind too much, and as soon as the wine came, I completely forgot about them. We tried several dishes and yes, they are a bit small. I really enjoyed the baked cheese and the fillet of beef dish. We also splurged and had the apple tart, it was very tasty. The wine list looks like it would have something for everyone. My only suggestion is to GET A RESERVATION!! read more

Really loved this place: ambiance/decor- clean, modern yet warm. loved the lighting, the wood, and the high table in the center where various groups of people are seated together. The bar setup is nice as well- easy to stand/sit and order drinks until you are seated. and random note-very cool flooring in the bathroom (bathroom was immaculate, spacious and modern-- ok, so the only reason I am so familiar with this particular room is that I had to change clothes in there (don't ask- it's nunya ). Our waiter, Ron, was awesome- so good, that the tables to the left and right of me kept saying how highly they thought of him everytime he would walk away from the table. I just stuck to the small plates (my two person table ordered 5 small plates and it was perfect). I love the diversity in the dishes and the fact that the menu changes daily--it's a great mix of italian, greek and californian cuisine. Definitely order the hummus and pita-- best pita (made fresh there) I've ever had..and amazing hummus. The roasted beets, cod in parchment paper, chicory salad, and homemade sausage dishes were all so different (yet complementary) in flavor and texture, it was wonderful to sample so many flavorful dishes. The chocolate pudding cake was phenomenal -especially paired with their homemade coffee ice cream. definitely recommend this as a date place. read more

Great food and nice ambiance. Terzo has a good selection of small plates, entrees, wine, and beer. I shared the bruschetta, asparagus, meatball, beet salad, and hummus with two other people. Everything we ordered was delicious and it was just the right amount of food. I liked how the items were brought out one or two at a time so that we didn't have to deal with passing around 5 or six plates at once. The service kinda ruined it for me. When we walked in the door, we were immediately asked "Do you have a reservation?" This honestly seemed like a joke, since the place was literally empty. But no - apparently it was completely booked except for a few tables by the window. This information was given with an attitude. Excuse us for not making a reservation, and as a matter of fact the window tables seemed just fine. The waiter (who was the bartender, too) took his time coming over to us even though he clearly wasn't at all busy. There were big gaps between ordering our drinks, receiving them, and finally getting the opportunity to order food. When we gave our order, he didn't write anything down, and sure enough he had to come back and ask us again about what we'd ordered. We got our food alright but he never came back to check on us or refill our water glasses. Fast forward to the end of the meal, when we were done eating and had somewhere else to be. The waiter/bartender was standing behind the bar talking and laughing with two female servers, having a great time. We tried to signal to him that we needed our check, but no dice. He was completely engrossed in flirting with these waitresses. We finally managed to flag down another server, and then the bartender/waiter came rushing over and mock-scolding the helpful one for trying to 'steal' his table. Apparently he would've made his way over eventually and didn't appreciate anyone trying to speed the process along. Morals of the story: if you don't want to sit by the window, make a reservation. If you don't like bad service, skip Terzo altogether. read more

Knocked off another restaurant that remained dormant on my bookmarks for some time... Terzo is cozy and it was a full house that night. Ambiance was great regardless of the occasion whether you are on a date, dinner with friends/group date or having dinner with your parents. We shared the following: - Hummus with house made pita and Za'atar (a must) - Grilled Asparagus with Brown Butter, Hazelnuts, Almonds & Manchego - Mozzarella di Bufala with Crème Fraîche, Smoked Salt, Rosemary & Sicilian Olive Oil - Braised Moroccan Style Chicken with Basmati Rice, Pistachios, Sultanas, Herbs & Yogurt Service was fine and my water glass was kept full. I did feel as though they were a bit short staffed as our server seemed to be somewhat struggling to juggle his tables. He was good on his word to make a one hour dinner happen. We had exactly a hour to eat dinner. We walked in w/out reservations and they let us sit at a table until it was time to prep for the more efficient diners who planned ahead and called. One regret though; with all this rushing we had to make do without dessert. Perhaps next time. read more

I had my bday dinner there when it first opened and was very impressed. However, I have been back a few times and it has been getting worse and worse each time (and they keep changing the menu so I have a feeling I'm not the only one who feels this way). One of my favorite restaurants in the city - this place is a neighborhood gem. Awesome ambiance and service, unique dishes that are DELICIOUS. We shared a bunch of small plates and all were fantastic. For me, the standouts were (1) Heirloom Tomato and Farm Egg Bruschetta (2) Braised Pork Meatballs (3) Melon and Smoked Prosciutto They were also kind enough to forgive my OpenTable screw-up.
