We wanted a slow day instead of our strenuous hikes, so we decided to stop at Testa's. Not many places are open for bloody Mary's in the morning, so we chose here. The bartender was very nice and attentive. I got a Bloody Mary, my boyfriend got the blueberry and peach margarita with the sugar rim, and then the rest of my family joined. My brother got the blueberry mojito, and my dad got the blueberry martini. The Bloody Mary was good, although a little spicy. I only wish I had more thickness in mine, as well as some bacon or a shrimp. I would absolutely pay more for that, if it was possible in the future. The margarita was great, nice taste and sweet minus the kick of the tequila! (I'm not a tequila fan) The two best drinks were the blueberry mojito and the martini. The mojito was the best I've had. Better than Jordan pond house. And the martini was beautiful and tasty. We didn't eat here, but we would in the future. read more

My lobster rom had slaw under it and that is not a good addition. Even without the slaw on the roll, I've had much better. My family and I went to Testa's for lunch during our stay in Bar Harbor. It's a great spot right in the downtown part of town. We got a great table outside on the patio - which was perfect to enjoy the weather. The only complaint about the table is that the chairs were heavy and clunky - it was hard to get them close enough to the table. Our server was friendly and gave us good recommendations. It took a few attempts to get our drinks to the table, but otherwise no issues. The food is DELICIOUS! I had the lobster tacos and they were super good. Made a reservation and we were seated right away. The waiter arrived quickly and we ordered some drinks. I got a flight of four beers that were all pretty good. I ordered clam chowder and seafood Alfredo. My wife ordered a chicken dish. The clam chowder was delicious. The best I ever had. Our entrees arrived in a timely manner. The alfredo was great! June 1, 2023 My husband and I had a wonderful breakfast yesterday at Testa's Bar & Grill in Bar Harbor. We walked around a bit trying to decide where to go. The restaurant that we recommended was too crowded, normally I believe it must be great. We didn't want to wait. We were very very glad we walked another block. Testa's was delicious. I had an omelette, swiss and spinach. My husband got the very large "brunch." The coffee was very good, in an extra large mug. The restaurant itself is along a main road. The floor to ceiling windows were wide open. At night the whole place, including the bar area, was comfortably busy. It's really worth trying for any meal of the day. read more

We walked into Testa's on a cold rainy evening, after a nearby restaurant had over an hour wait. They said the could seat us right away outside, we asked if it was covered, and they said yes, so we went for it. While there was a roof over our heads, it was in an open courtyard-like space, and with the wind it was as if we didn't have a roof at all. Unfortunately, being rained on our entire meal really put a damper on the experience. I started my meal with a glass of the wine that was part of happy hour. I asked if it was a dry wine, and the waitress told me she didn't really know and that it was a blend which meant that it was just "all kinds of wine mixed together". It wasn't very good but I can't complain for the price. When the waitress came back, I asked if it was still happy hour and she hemmed and hawed over it before eventually telling me that happy hour was technically over. I was hoping that all the deliberation meant maybe she would offer to put in an order for me under happy hour, but no such luck. I ordered a drink, and the waitress left and then came back and said that drink was out as well as one other drink. She did not offer any alternatives, so I asked for a menu. I ordered another drink off the menu, and she came back and said they were out of that as well so I gave up. I was disappointed that the waitress seemed to know nothing about the wine they offered, and couldn't even answer a very basic question. And I was even more disappointed when she seemed to have no knowledge of what was actually available to serve. I also had the lobster bisque, which was a disappointment as well. The soup was all liquid with no chunks of actual lobster meat except for a few small crispy pieces on top as garnish. In Maine, I'd expect better lobster. The highlight of the meal was the entree. I had the Maine Lobster dinner, which was delightful. The potatoes served as a side were especially amazing. If you go to Testa's, you may have better luck if the weather is ok. Don't get your hopes up for great drinks, and skip the lobster bisque. However, if you're looking for a great lobster dinner, you can't go wrong here read more

We went on a Wednesday night around 6ish and were told our wait would be 15-30 minutes - we ended up waiting over 2 hours. We checked in with the hostesses multiple times, and each time we were told that we were coming up soon. We would have left but we kept thinking, only 2 more ahead of us (or so we were told). We started watching people who put their name down after us get seated before us. This actually happened 3 times. When we asked the hostess about it she said they had reservations - another lie since we watched these couples put their name down after us with our own eyes. It was a small waiting area outside, you could see everyone. Several people also complained and it seemed like they would only seat the people who complained the most. The hostesses couldn't have cared less that we waited there for so long, no apologies, no free drink (was a long shot anyway lol), nothing. Such a waste of time. We've been eating all over town trying to clam chowder and a lot of places the Testa's has the best fried chowder in town. Period. Food here is great if a little Maine pricey. I'm sure this place was amazing at one time, and it might even still be so...However when we were there it was a truly "meh" experience. We showed up early, like during happy hour, and asked for a spot outside. We were told that no, the wait was well over an hour because everyone had "just sat..." No prob, we'll sit inside because all we wanted was a few oysters and a couple martinis. We then proceeded to see every outside table get up and leave, and every walk-in behind us easily snag a key spot...weird but again, we just wanted a drink or two and an app. Unfortunately even that proved difficult, as we waited literally 10 minutes to be acknowledged and then another 35 for our dozen oysters. Only after we got up to find our server and say we really had to leave, did our server disappear into the kitchen. Wouldn't you know the oysters came out a second later...lukewarm and clearly having sat in the window for a super long time. Nobody wants to eat room temp oysters, even in Maine. The martini, I must say, was excellent. IDK, probably an off night? Either way, I'll probably stick to Stewman's in the future. read more

Seated fairly quickly during lunch rush. Our spot by the Main Street faced the harbor and was quite a picturesque view. We checked in via Yelp and got to taste their clam chowder first. The consistency is thick, sweet and different. I think there was fish along with clams in their version. I added some salt to balance the flavor a bit. Their shrimp po-boy has a nice crunch from the corn meal breaded batter. The side of pickle and fresh crunchy chips a nice salty compliment. The Waldorf chicken sandwich, soup (chowder again) and the spring mix salad with blueberry vinaigrette were okay. I thought the multigrain croissant was different - though had it been tasted and warm with a chilled chicken salad I think this sandwich was have been more memorable. The Bloody Mary drink was the standard tomato juice with vodka. It tasted kinda peppery though was without horseradish and was garnished with two olives and a celery stick. Good enough to share! Waiter gave us some good spots to check out while in Acadia National Park. read more
